To the WiKi guy(s) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

It's only a teensey tiny thing but under the Hermes Problems Page the HT645 serial number only has XDA Trion listed under "Devices with this S/N".
I got my Vario 2 (UK) from their Telesales about 2 or 3 weeks ago now and mine has a HT645 serial number as well as a 1300mAh battery.

Don't hesitate to click the "Edit"-Button

I didn't know you could change it without like registering and some site or other, not actually done the whole WiKi thing before, just read them.
When I went to try it tho I noticed someone had already updated it for me so thanks.

need a valid IMEI # for O2 XDA

need to regiter at www.myxda.com and download the software upgrade. can someon ehelp as my device's IMEI is considered invalid for some reason
Thanks
O2 Technical Support, Asia Pacific Region have been no help
I have a O2 XDA which I am using in Melbourne, Australia but had purchased from Uk and had it unlatched before coming to Australia
I have been trying in vain to register the unit at www.myxda.com and it considers the IMEI number as invalid.
Can you please give me an IMEI number thats good for registering cause all I want is to be able to download the software upgrade
Hi,
I am suffering the same problem as you too. I just purchased my Brand-New O2 XDA2 Asia. But the IMEI printed on the back of the device (uncovered after by removing the battery pack) is NO Good for registering. By pressing "*#06#" directly on the phone dialer, the displayed IMEI is STILL NO GOOD for registering into "www.myxda.com". The displayed IMEI is 17 digits. I googled it on the web about IMEI and the results came back it as should be an Uniquely defined 15 digits. After I tried with the whole 17 digits or just the 1st 15 digits for their own web registering, ALL FAILED. Many tries from asking help from that Officially Authorized(they claimed that authorized by O2-Singapore) Retailer where I had purchased my XDA2 from. No good answer back after all. They even told me that they had never given it a try to register into "www.myxda.com" at all, because they didn't have an XDA2 device to do that. Wow, what a BIG supprised me! They sold it many but they just didn't have a device for registering test.
What a DAM* SH*T service they are!!!

Hi Guys,
This is a story we commonly hear over at the MTekk forums. It seems that the most common solution is to e-mail them with your problem, purchase details and IMEI on...
helpdesk-asia<at>O2.com or
contactusasia<at>o2.com or
myxda_asia<at>o2.com
...and they will add your IMEI to the database, which seems to be rather incomplete. Don't expect immediate turn-around on your request either, they can be a little slow.

As it's a UK XDA Can you not just use the upgrade available for the UK version at www.my-xda.com ?

new o2 update look

anybody been o2 site, new look and I think new updates. But I cannot download them???
hmm dun think its an update. i just went to the site and didnt see any new new ROMs.
On the applications page it makes a direct reference to push emails... This is only in the latest rom's so they must be planning a release soon surely? Otherwise why mention it?
http://xda.o2.co.uk/xdaExecApps.aspx
The very last phrase say:
The upgraded software for Microsoft Windows Mobile® allowing push email is coming soon.
(complitly scroll down, you'll see it)
;-)
what the heck is push e-mail anyway?
What other updates do you recon we can expect from O2?

push email makes pocket outlook work in a similar manner to blackberry devices, where email is "delivered" to your pda.
Aside from that we'll probably get nothing more than is already available in the latest rom's from other suppliers, though we can always hope for stereo bluetooth
i was hoping for the Wifi being fixed so its not like a 56k modem.
Oh well.....

web page lovely. still no ******g Rom update. o2 are slack.
Customer service is crap.
IT people at o2 know nothing.
No a2dp in next rom.
10 times more expensive on unlimted data than Tmobile. 75quid vs 7.50. no wonder they can afford such a swanky new web site.
o2 are ***k. I'm off to tmobile in 34 days and counting.
34 day and counting
Good luck CRJL, still got 15 months left on mine contract. sign up to 02 and flipping T-mobile came out with web and walk. oh well i just keep paying.
Unlucky, I've not had many problems that cant be fixed by browsing on here, but i'm not using the mobile-internet stuff at all and are getting it on o2 employee cash cause of my girlfriend, but they do hold back on Rom and Radio updates to the general public and the product itself still feels like its beta hardware with so many of them failing, thought I was due a 3rd one there for a bit but the bug went away.

Guys, just to let you know (unless you've figured this out/posted it above and I did not spot it):
Go to the Software upgrade page of any device:
e.g http://xda.o2.co.uk/xdaExecSoftware.aspx
And then add 'download' to access the Updates:
i.e http://xda.o2.co.uk/xdaExecSoftwareDownload.aspx
Such a sly... no IMEI needed
Hope that helps
Cya
Looks like they have spotted this one.... it doesn't work any more, or maybe the pages are offline right now.
They seem to be doing a lot of work on the web site just recently ... I wonder why :?:
so has anyone managed to download then? and can you post them here?
Looks like they've put a check on the download page to see if you've actually done the IMEI check.
I've just gone through the check myself, and there's no check (as of yet) on the actual download link
http://xda.o2.co.uk/downloads/Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v113188.exe
(edit add - it's still an ancent ROM mind you)
Now the index page for the site is showing a 403: You are not authorized to view this page message. Hmmmmm.... *strokes* beard.
Just what is wrong with providing your IMEI? AFAIK it's just to make sure you're not trying to get the Exec ROM for the wrong device. O2 already know you've got an Exec - it says so on your account - and they know your device's IMEI.
As for ROM upgrades - use the latest QTek or IMate ROM. The QTek works well for me.
It's a PITA (albeit a minor one) to go through settings, open up the info screen, and type it in.
It's also a phone number check, so if you've got an Exec on a different network you can't get the updated rom. Or if you've got an MDA Pro etc then you can't get it as well.
Only 3 people on this entire thread are not on O2.
And you've wasted more time moaning about the O2 website than it would take to find your IMEI. Which is literally 5 taps of your stylus.
Besides which, the O2 ROM is crap, and the next O2 ROM will probably be just as crap, so there's probably not a great deal of point waiting for the next O2 ROM anyway, or using an O2 ROM on a device that isn't connected to O2. Unless you actually use O2 Active in which case you're doomed to use the current O2 ROM until O2 finally get an AKU2 ROM out. Which could be months away. FWIW you could probably copy the O2 customization crap out of the original ExtROM and install it over the top of a QTek/IMate ROM which would give you what you want from your device without having to wait for O2 or go through the hideously complex process of tapping your screen in 5 places and reading a number.
Like with any modern day phone you can just dial *#06# to find out your imei
Yeah but then you have to press 8 buttons: Phone, Fn, *, #, 0, 6, Fn, #
(or 1 button & 5 screen taps - technically the System Info is still the more 'efficient')

02 XDA Orbit

I want to get the ROM updated as my GPS is slow to load and I was told that updating the ROM will sort this out.
I haven't done this before on the XDA (have on HP iPac) so I get the idea. Having reading through many posts I am totally confused as to what I should be doing.
I have downloaded and installed Artemis_USPL and I get everything in order - however it doesn't report current ROM version and doesn't update (Active Sync seem to drop connection).
All I want to do is update the ROM to the latest version.
Therefore I want to know where I can get the latest O2 Rom for WM5, and what software I should be using to make the update.
Many thanks for any help
Eddie
(BTW - I am happy with WM5, however if I can kill 2 birds with one stone and get on to an English version of WM6 I would like to do that as well!)
losing sync
got the same problem here
Have you tried waiting the screen willgo either white or black for a period.
When using USPL it doesnt alter the device data or appearance just the CID status.
If you follow the idiots guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311650
you should have no problems.
I have UK O2 Orbit and no problems at all as I said follow the guide and will work sometimes it seems to be taking ages and doing nothing but trust me for me it gets there.
o2 are doing WM6 updates - just take it to the store....
Thanks for the reply.
I did follow the idiots guide as mentioned, and having working in IT for 10 years found it simple enough to follow. Didn't change the fact that I couldn't get passed the "dropped" used connection and no update!
What I then did was ring o2 who did have a clue and then I rang the XDA (o2) dedicated service center.
The girl on the phone went and checked with the techs and rang me back to confirm they are installing WM6 on all XDA's that get sent back, and that the update is free!
With this information I went to my local o2 store who accepted the phone for software upgrade to WM6 and told me it will be back with me on Thursday of next week.
Problem sorted - let them do it......
Wishfull thinking....please check when they return the device...may have the SD Card with the flashed ROM on it hee hee hee...!

is your pc Vista by any chance
NO XP!
I did ask the service center direct - if you want to check give them a call on 01603 269901 - XDA2 warranty returns line.
Also I rang o2 twice on 0800 5874715 and on both occasions they confirmed they are supporting it from 23/27 of this month - so that all ties in nicely.
I will let you know when mine returns if it works and if they have upgraded the ROM etc.....
They are indeed upgrading all retuned devices with WM6. That is for sure.
I got my XDA Orbit Back from o2 yesterday after 6 days.
It has been updated (ROM, GSM etc) and has WM 6 Pro on it.
Sat Nav is still very slow to kick in - what else can I do to speed up the connection?

Have you ensured that QuickGPS is up to date?
Also when you run the GPS ensure u are static while it locates you.
Also overclock the Orbit slightly?

[Q] Issue with Orange Signal

I recently bought a Blackstone off Ebay, it arrived yesterday (Orange branded), I inserted my sim card and set everything up, i could send and receive calls and text messages and access internet etc. Then a few hours later i went out, returned to find no signal. It can find networks but will not connect to Orange.
ROM Version - 1.19.61.1 WWE
ROM Date - 11/25/08
Radio Version - 1.09.25.14
The serial number indicates it was built in 2009 week 4.
After doing a search i found a topic that suggested it had been blocked with a link to a site to do a check. I've done that and the results all came up clean.
I've tried another Orange sim card in it and its the same.
I've tried an 02 sim card in it and it works.
I've tried hard rest and soft reset.
Althought i can't access the network through orange it still lets me contact to the internet through them, sometimes!.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I've contacted the seller (Ebay) with my problem. His feedback indicates he's sold an awful lot of these and other phones.

You posted same question in rom section. This is correct forum to post question.
I did answer your post in rom section with below:
Try 2 things:
1. Go to settings > connections > connection setup and select your country and operator, i.e. UK & Orange and let phone set this up automatically, see if this makes any difference.
2. Try a different radio. Available radio's can be found here. Obviously you will need either USPL or HSPL first to be able to flash any radio. Guide for flashing USPL & HSPL can be found here.
Also, read this thread as they are experiences similar problems
Thank you, i wasn't sure which forum to post in so thanks for your response.
I've already tried 1. I'll try 2.
Is it worth me updating my ROM too while i'm at it?

Totally up to you on whether or not you want to update your rom. If your happy with your rom, then why change........or
What I would say is that almost everyone updates their rom from stock rom to a cooked version eventually, some sooner rather than later due to better performance, more tweaks, apps installed etc
Now they can't all be wrong, can they???
Orange have confirmed the phone is blacklisted, even though the site said it wasn't.
Taking my frustrations out on the 'legitimate' Ebay seller as we speak and searching for a replacement.
Changing the ROM might solve your problem but if the blacklisting is done with IMEI numbers, then you may have a tough time.. Anyway, how much did you get the device for? I'm looking for one and don't mind taking yours if the offer is fair enough.
Regards,
Carty..
I paid £402 which included the postage, the actual phone was £395.
Orange checked by using my IMEI number, which suggests it is that.
I need to order a replacement today, but dont want to risk it being blocked again. I already have a contract with Orange and can't upgrade yet. So i need either a sim free or pay as you go one on Orange. Any one know where the cheapest/safest place to buy would be.

If its only blacklisted by orange now, it will be blacklisted by all the networks soon. They now share their blacklists.
Its being returned to the seller, where I assume he'll change the IMEI and try to resell it.

I dont think its that easy.
Sounds to me like he has brought one off someone who has then reported it nicked or similar.
In the meantime, I bought mine off ebay and it works fine on orange.
He has sold about 50 of them, plus several others. When i was manually setting up the network i had a choice of botswana or UK, not sure if thats an indication of where the phone originates from? or i'm just paranoid.
After one bad experience and desperatley needing a new phone i decided to order one off a company on the list in the Wiki. To his credit he's refunded me whilst the phone is in the post being returned.

Thread for reporting success of unlocking phones locked to O2

Ok, I got an HD2 via my wifes O2 contract (I am on Orange and she did not want a new phone ), and I want to unlock it to work on any network.
I have filled out the form that o2 provide online (using my wifes details), and have waited about 5 weeks so far, and have not even received so much as a confirmation of receipt. I filled in the form the other day to double check I was not going mad, and still nothing.
I have also tried someone via ebay who said they could unlock the HD2, but they had to refund me.
Other threads on this subject cover all networks, and it seems that people have the most luck with T-Mobile.
What I propose is that ONLY PEOPLE ON O2 reply to this thread, keeping the reply simple, along the lines of whether or not the phone has been successfully unlocked or not, and if it was via O2 or an online company (and who that company was).
So fo me...
Not unlocked yet
Methods tried = O2 form and ebay seller
Cheers
Likewise. I have tried the O2 web form about 6 weeks ago with no feedback since.
I called O2 customer support and they are now doing the request internally (so they say) and will take up to 28 days.
Filled in the O2 web form on 3rd of Jan and received a 8 digit code on 17th of Jan. Followed the instruction by inserting another provider's sim and entering the 8 digit code. My phone now works with O2, t-mobile, vodofone and orange. Have not tried 3 as I do not have a 3 sim.
Can I ask, did you receive any confirmation from O2 that the unlocking process was going ahead? And also, did you have your o2 sim card in the HD2 while waiting for the unlock code?
Thanks
submitted the form like 6 odd weeks ago and nothing back from o2

I have been waiting around 6 weeks as well. Heard nothing, no confirmation, nothing. Pathetic.
I am with O2 UK.
I filled in the form in December and received a code after 3 weeks.
Maybe there is a backlog of people requesting unlocking codes??
You are asked to put in an alternative sim card and the phone prompts an unlocking code. After entering I think it reboots. I've only tried it with Orange and it works fine.
if you search on this forum you will find the unlocking company that a lot of people used (including me on O2). There was a complete thread on this.
I'm on O2 and it took a just a couple of weeks. I put my request in 2 times - once each week.
My experience of getting O2 to SIM unlock (or 'unlatch') my phone is pretty dire.
I first applied back at the beginning of December using the online form. After about 3 days I got a phone call and we went through all my details again and I confirmed I wanted my phone 'unlatched'. I was told it could take up to 28 days. I wasn't in a hurry and only really wanted it done 'on principle', so that wasn't a problem. Next day, I received an email confirmation of 'our conversation'.
About January 10th, I realised that nearly 6 weeks had passed and I had not received my code, so I got in touch via the email confirmation address. Several emails later, I was told to contact Customer Service via telephone as the guy I had been talking to could not help me. I did this on January 17th.
The first 2 times I got through, I was cut off as soon as I mentioned 'unlatching'!
The 3rd time, I was put through to a guy who had never heard of 'unlatching' (the O2 term for SIM unlocking). So I had to explain the whole process to him. He said there was no record 'on the system' of me ever having made such a request! Eventually, he found a form on his system that allowed me to apply again to have my phone 'unlatched'. He told me it could take up to 28 days...
I am now half-way through that 28 days and no word as yet of an 'unlatch' code...
My impression is that they are really loathe to do this, though why that is, is a mystery as I have just taken out a new 24 month contract with them, so am obviously going nowhere...
My advice to others would be... pay to get it done if you really need your phone unlocked and need it right away. If, like me, you are just doing it on a point of principle (and with a view to installing non-O2 updates eventually), take your chances with O2, but don't expect it to work first time of asking!
