My phone always switches to 3G even when Wifi is connected. How do I fix this problem, it didn't happen with my old XDA IIi.
Cheers.

The GPRS connection on the Compact automatically disconnects after synching my email and if the device is switched off. I haven't found a setting yet that allows the connection to remain active (like on the XDA II)?
Has anyone else come across this and how to get the GPRS connection to remain connected if you switch off and back on again?
Also for those interested, I have started reviewing the Compact and will continue to add to this as I use it more. Can be found at http://www.pocketreview.net/default.asp?section=article&id=32&page=1
Loved your review so far -- can't wait to read more!
I am having the same problem with my XDA II mini. I hope there is a registry setting for this.
Hi!
I have a O2 xda neo. And whant to deactivate the GPRS temporaly. My old Siemens mobile could easiey do this in the network menu. But not the f*** Windows Mobile OS from M$? I couldn't find anything.
I just came back from a trip to Turkey and it happened exactly what I tried to avoid. I was charged a massive fee for using Internet over GPRS. I checked my emails daily over the hotel WLAN - but this had a pretty bad connection and it was lost all the time and then the stupid Windows connected me via GPRS - Ahhh. It seems that I was often not fast enough to abort this. Pretty expensive now.
So please help me, where can I deactivate GPRS when I am not at home?
Regards
mx
Easiest way IMHO is to use dummy GPRS profiles that can't connect.
V
but how do you make the 'G' symbol completely dissapear as i cant to wifi with it there
Hi sakinah!
The 'G' symbol is just there to tell you that the network supports GPRS. If it doesn't have 2 arrows under it, you are not connected.
As far as I know there is no way to get rid of it. However on my Jamin (= XDA Neo = prophet) it doesn't interfere with wifi. You should check your wifi settings, or try Hitchhiker for automatic configuration.
Good luck!
When connecting my MDA Pro II to my laptop the connection via bluetooth gets established alright and I can surf the internet for a few minutes. But then the connection breaks down, as the phone has switched off bluetooth by itself! I cannot switch it back on, and I will have to reset the phone altogether to start anew. Does anyone have the same problem or a solution? Thanks!
Same here!!!
Turn off Pushmail and other apps
Turn off any app that might use the NET.
I got so freakin' frustrated with this before I had a bright moment
(first one ever)
Turn of activesync, pushmail etc on your device, SPB GPRS monitor, any app that tries to connect.
Your modem function just can't stand that.
Hi there,
I am in the UK and bought a Vario II and signed up with T-Mobile, however I could not get reception in my office so I cancelled and went over to o2.
I had been using the Vario II as a modem, connecting via bluetooth using Mac OSX 10.4.9, and everything was nice and easy.
However now I have the Trion I don't seem to be able to connect, when I look for a new device it sees the Trion but no longer gives me the option to "Conect to the internet using this device" which I am sure I got with the vario.
Has anyone else got the Trion working with a mac?
Do I need to flash it to think it is a vario again??
Any ideas at all??
Cheers!
I managed to get online, but had to start the bluetooth panning on the xda and then connect to my phone via bluetooth network.
Would be far easier to just connect through the dial up, but at least it works and have to say it seems alot faster this way not using a modem script.

Hi,
How strong is the wifi signal of the network you are accessing? At home, I sometimes have to reset my wifi router because it will not reflesh the IP address on its own, but againg, it may be a problem with my router and not something that usually happens.
