as far as i know cameras will not recognise the card if over 2gb.

From something I read somewhere else on the forum, you need to have more than 2gb used on the card in order for the camera to save to it.

Try using an alternate camera software, like CoolCamera?

4 GB SD Disks

I wanted to post this and share my thoughts. I purchased both the A-Data 150x 4GB SD Card and the Transcend 150x 4GB SD Card for my Universal (specifically, an imate JasJar). Both appear to work fine on my Universal without any problems. I plugged both in straight out of the box. The one problem you MAY have is getting a card read for your PC that will read these cards. Here's one that will definately work:
SanDisk MobileMate™ SD™ Plus 5-in-1 Reader (SDDR-103)
Here's the link:
Link
I've been able to use the MobileMate with both cards and they appear as 4GB removeable harddrives on my computer (XP Pro w/SP2).
Hope this information is useful to some.
Where did you buy the "A-Data 150x 4GB SD Card"?
ebay.
Can you also please check if the A-Data SD card allows you to store pictures and video on it.
I bought the Transcernd 4GB about 2 months ago and I can't store pictures on it using my XDA EXEC. Thus I returned it for a refund.
Both work
I've read that people have had problems with storing picture on the SD Card. I've taken pictures and successfully stored them using BOTH cards (A-DATA and Transcend) and I've watched videos on both.
Excellent, I am going to soon purchase an SD card for my Jasjar. Knowing the 4GB works is great news.
Thanks,
I bought it two days ago from Ebay (flashman) and all is going well apart from two aspect:
1) My portable acer tr 8100 did not recognaize the card and to load files i used special software i saw in this forum
2) before i used 1gb sd and store directly photo and videos take from the phone in that card and all is went good.
Now with this new card i didn't, i have to store directly in the phone memory.
I think is a phone problem not a faulty sd.
A-Data have lifetime guarantee...

I have that problem I cannot save photos or video with my camera on the A-Data card. The error that comes up is the following:-
Unable to capture.
Not enough memory.
36009:111:0
Now the card is new and its 98% free.
What I am thinking is could it be that your version of camera.exe is different from mine. Weatheryoko can you upload your camera.exe here please.

That sounds like a problem with the application - sounds like someone has used a signed integer instead of an unsigned integer. It has too much memory to show in to small a space and thus shows a smaller number that is actually available.... It's an app problem, not an SD card problem.

That makes sense therefore would you say that if I fill up the card more and there is less empty space the card would work with the camera? Or maybe there are different versions of the camera.exe that would handle the extra memory?

Yes that sounds like it should work - although how much you need to fill up I don't know. You'd probably need between 1 and 2GB I would imagine.

I had the same problem, what you need to do is to keep the free space of your SD < 2GB!

Correct there as it worked. Hope they fix this bug as I was going to send the card back. Many owners of 4GB sd cards have sent it back because of this bug. Thanks to you, darkblak and this forum this is solved

Thanks for this info. I guess the next time I buy one I'll have to remember to fill it up more than 2GB for the camera to store it to the card.
erm, not sure that is the problem. I have gotten exactly the same error before when using the 512MB card that came with the universal. I think it is to do with the speed of writting to the card, and actually, the amount of memory available to the application.

I had the same problem with my 512Mb card so it can't be a case of card size. Speed of card and memory avaliable might be more likely, as coldpenguin said.
Fin
What I wanted to know is, if it is only the Camera.exe that has this problem or is there any other software that accesses the storage card that has a similar problem.
If it is only the Camera.exe are there different versions that might not have this bug?
My version of Camera.exe is Version 3.00 (Build 21244)
Based from what happened to me, I don't think it is the camera.exe file that has this problem. Why? I had problems with the 4GB Card Transcend card, but I am not having any problems with the San Disk 2 GB ULTRA. I also tried the San Disk 1 GB card (basic) and had no problems with it. Just like what is stated above, I have to agree that the bug lies in the built-in card reader.exe file.

For your information, I'm using Transcend 4GB SD (150x). I had the problem and initially I thought it was a memory problem but then it happened even right after I reset the phone, then I tired record to local storage without problem. I tried to fill it with around 2.5GB of video and it works perfectly.

As stated in other posts its not just the size but even the speed that will make camera.exe not save on it. But some questions apart from the Camera not saving photos and movies on the card was the 4GB recognized by the Universal? You where able to install software on the card. Because I could do all this accept saving from the Camera.exe.

Pics all gone - Help!

I am using dopod 818 pro with a 4GB SD card WM5 Traditional Chinese version. Everything's working fine until yesterday after taking pictures with the phone's camera I find that there is nothing stored under the storage card (My Pictures under My Documents which is the default storing location). I verified that it's not stored under my pictures in the internal memory. Then I took some more pictures, the photo count is keep decreasing (indicating that it is taking up memory on the memory card), but I couldn't find the pics anywhere in my SD card. Could anyone please help? Many thanks.

in the camera option, what is the storage destination you've set?
If I remember correctly the camera app has a problem with cards bigger then 2GB.
This may have caused it to not save the files at all or properly.
You could try accessing the card with a card reader from the PC but other than that I am not sure if anything can be done to recover your photos.
Sorry.

Camera capacity

I have a problem with camera and availability of free space for photos. On storage card I have 4GB of free space and camera shows that I can make 6 photos only. Camera has set Storage card for store photos. Main memory shows 270 photos, Storage card with 4GB of free space shows 6 photos only...
SOLVED: SD CARD TUNE FIX was reason. After uninstall everything looks o.k. Currently I can take 730 photos and store it on Storage card.

not sure if this is the answer but sometimes with external storage when you delete somthing it goes into the recycle bin so is still there. try pluging in the storage card to your computer then emptying the recycle bin. (the recycle bin on your computer/desktop)
if not i dont have a clue, you could try copying all your important files off the card then format it.
just saw this thread by another person who seems to have a better answer:

Had the exact same problem......copied some more files to the HD to go over 4GB (half full) and camera says now it can take several thousands of pix again....
Never tried on my 16GB card, since it´s already more than half full.....so yes, seems to be a bug on the HD

Yes, it should be a bug. My first opinion that SD Tune fix is reason was wrong. I tested, when I fill up over 4GB my Storage Card, then I can take more over 5 thousand photos again. I reported this bug to HTC, might somebody else could report this bug to HTC...

Help in HTC HD2 camera application

Hi,
I am storing my all the camera pics to storage card. I have 8GB of storage card which is 4gb free. But my camera application showing that i have only 64 pics left (On the top right corner in camera app)
I dont understand as I still have 4 gb free space in Storage card then why camera app is only showing 64 pics space left.
Could anyone please help.
Thanks,
You can choose in the camera options if you want to store the pictures on the internal rom or on the memory card.
If you are already storing them on your SD but it is not showing correctly there is an update from HTC that fixes that problem try the HTC website for your area and see if you can fix it from there first

No RAW-Photos with Adoptable Storage?

Hello folks,
I have a S7 Edge and use a Samsung Pro 128 GB MicroSD Card in it.
I decided to use adoptable storage with the ADB trick, had no problems setting it up and it runs fine.
But when I use the camera, I have a big problem. I like to shoot in Pro Mode with RAW Enabled, but everytime I try to take a Photo in Pro Mode with RAW capture enabled the camera app crashes when saving the RAW File.
The JPG is saved fine and everything else seems to work great but the camera fails to work with Adoptable Storage and RAW capture.
I think it is related to the fact das RAW Photos are saved to the device memory (you can't change it) but now with adoptable storage there is no more device memory to save the RAW Files.
My Card writes with up to 60 MB/s, speed should not be the problem.
Does anyone has an idea?
I'm back to usual storage option for now.
Does nobody has an idea?
RAW photos cannot be saved to the SD card because the write speed isn't up to par on every SD card. I would assume that Google or Samsung thought this through and disabled it for the "internal" storage that's actually on the SD card.
Try using a 3rd party camera capable of taking RAW photos and see if that would work.
I see that it could be problematic if you have a bad mSD Card without the needed speed.. but hey, my DSLR can save RAW on a cheapo SDHC card wich barly writes 8 MB/s, it just takes longer, but it works.
This card here is a Samsung Pro Card, can write 60 MB/s and Sammys Camera App crashes trying to write a RAW File to it...
Thats just bad implimentation and a bug. If you use Adoptable Storage with any other Android Phone it will save the RAW flawlessly, maybe a little slower but I'm not shooting in burst capture.
Totally agree that it's a bit odd raw doesn't save to the SD card.
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Seems like bad coding. Went back from adoptable storage because of this issue...
no, not with adoptable. i tried this and every possibility on my S7 Active; only workaround is to use Camera F5-V
So bad, someone in a german forum said it works for him but I think he just missunderstood...
