I had a |Plantronics bluetooth headset which connected as soon as it was turned on. I now have an iTech S35 Bluetooth stereo headset. This won't automatically connect. I have to go through all the menus to select as wireless stereo and handsfree - a total of 9 taps!
Not sure if this is the fault of my device or the headset.
Anyone know how to get them to connect automatically?
happens to me too although i have different make of headsets... dunno the cause either what i do is delete the partnerships and reestablish them. I do this everytime I get the iffy behavior. so it's no big deal.
I have the same problem with my jabra BT620s headset. It connects it self as a Bluetooth handsfree and can use voice dialing, but It doesn't connect automatically as a wireless headset. I have to go to Wireless Manager and set it there...
Any way to make it automatically... or at least with a use of a simple click?
hmmm... known issue on the BT620s, however the fact that the iTech clip is also affected is new to me. Quite frankly, I'd never asked.
There are several headsets that don't have the issue, but its about 50/50.
I've been having a similar problem with Lubix NC1s (btw, had the problem on my MDA too).
Until I know a permanent fix, I've used iLauncher to place a Bluetooth icon on the System Tray, so at least I can get to the device profile in 2 clicks.

This is using iLauncher from SBSH:
Under Settings>Shortcuts you can select "* Shell Tray Tab *" as your tab, then "Add" Bluetooth from "Cpl Applets".
One click opens Bluetooth Settings, then click on Devices.
Ah Ha! Done it, Thank you.
I often wondered how you got shortcuts on the bottom tray!
thanks
With the iTech you have to press the MFB buttton (the flashy one) once it is turned on to connect it. Bloody stupid I know. I don't turn it on to watch the light flash, I turn it on to connect it to my device.
Hi-I tried this with a trinity and itech and a single press of the button just activates voice dial then disconnects. Any ideas?
Sorry just re-read, I have an R35, thought you did too. You could try the Bluetooth audio routing program from below, there's a program & a separate today screen plugin version:
http://www.trianglepowers.com/ppc6700/
Not sure if it'll work or what the quality may be like but its worth a stab.
instructions with Bluetooth X5
For those that have a Tytn and Blueant X5 (with the latest firmware)
- turn on bluetooth on tytn and the X5
- quick-press volume up and down buttons -> Done (you might have to have your bluetooth in discoverable mode -> not sure)
BTW - Blueant X5 are fantastic - I have had it for over a year; and now about 5 of my work colleagues bought them too.

I have an iTech S38 and it works the same with the MFB button. If it does not work for you (ie when you press it you just get voice command) then I think it's a rom issue, not the headset itself. Ie, the bluetooth stack is not recognising the request to connect from the headset.
Try A2DPToggle

I'm aware of the various BT issues with the XDA II, and therefore installed BT Tools thinking it may allow me to use my handfree kit. Unfortunately I'm experiencing problems and not sure if this is me doing something wrong or there is a problem with the software. Basically the XDA II does not route either incoming or outgoing calls via the handfrees unit. I have do the following:-
1. Installed the latest BT Tools.
2. Created a bond with the Nokia Handfree kit, when prompted for the BT profile (the BT Tools icon screen) I select headset only.
3. Enable BT on the XDA II
When I make or receive a call is there any button or menu I should be selecting to enable the handsfree unit?
From the Today screen, make sure bluetooth headset mode is enabled.
And if Bluetooth Headset Mode does not appear on the today screen:
Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items and make sure Profile is checked. That will put the headset mode switch on the Today screen.
Thanks for the suggestions, I must admit I had missed the headset profile on the Today screen.
Even with the device paired, BT enabled & the Headset enable neither incoming or outgoing calls are routed through the handsfree unit.
Any other suugestions welcomed...
With the new bluetooth tools you need to transfer the call to the headset...
I find the best way when dialing is to have the phone ready to dial, then i hit the answer button on the headset causing the phone to dial & transfer sound to the headset @ the same time.
When answering the call the headset should ring and you press the answer button on the headset to recieve the call.

Christian
When you say press the headset button are you referring to the headset icon on the XDA or the Nokia handsfree button?
If its the Nokia button , I'll try this tomorrow, if not, then the icon does not ring and when receiving a call it is covered by the incoming call window.
Many thanks...
the nokia headset button

Yep thats what I thought, I think I can confidently say there is a compatability issue with using the current version of BT Tools with the new Nokia CK-7W handsfree kit.
I've read the user manual for the handfree kit and that refers to switching/transferring the call between the BT devices using the button. The unit clicks as if there's something happening, but no call is heard, the unit works perfectly with a BT phone connected both Nokia & Motorola.
I would try uninstalling pocket BT tools - for using a headset it is of no additional value anyway. I do not have it installed and have never had any problems making or receiving calls with my SE HBH-30 headset.
Try using the earlier version of bluetooth tools, make sure you uninstall the version you have and also unbond/remove bluetooth pairings, rebond after successful install.
Pocket Bluetooth Tools is perfect! This is what I'm looking for, except I can't figure out how to listen to music thru my bluetooth headset.
Thanks for the great tool though, now I can make calls with my headset.

The BIG advantage is battery life and not having to re-enable the headset profile each time you switch on the phone! With both PBT and/or Profile not displayed, I also get more Today real estate to play with.
With BT on all the time, I'm lucky to get four hours usage out of my Xda II, with PBT turning it off after five minutes the time can go up to almost seven. Sure, there is a short lag between call coming in and the headset (HBH-65) ringing but I can live with that and it even works well with Pocket Zen Phone. I also like the last number redial facility it adds to my headset. PBT rocks!
I found one problem with this program. My device won't automatically turn off after installing this tool. The backlight turns off, but not the device after certain minutes set. Who do I report the problem too.

Hi everyone,
well, I got the same problem :x with my XDA2, also called Qtek 2020, and Nokia carkit 112. It just does'nt work, even with BT tools. But I wonder how you get the icon screen while connecting to your Nokia carkit...cause mine is going straight back to the "Bluetooth connected devices" screen. I only got the icon screen, enabling the profile selection, while connecting to my Nokia 6310i phone.
Let's hope that HTC is gonna come up with Handsfree profile soon...
Regards to all, special ones to our OZ friends!! Mates, I really enjoyed living in Sydney, even if Italy is quite convenient as well.

i hate the process to connect with my bluetooth headset
Comm Manager -> Settings ->
Bluetoth Settings -> Devices ->
klick -> set as wireless stereo
gives any app to do this with one klick or one button ???
What headset are you using? I have Logitech wireless stereo headset. I connect it like this:
1. Turn headset on.
2. Press button on the headset once.
3. Headset says "beep" and bluetooth audio is connected
What the button?
I have four on my Sonorix
Only three on Logitech and two of them are volume controls so it's easy
This also doesn't seem to work on my i-Phono Minis, does anyone have a small app that switches this or knows of the API call needed to get the wireless headset to kick on?
Thanks,
Jon.
It's an A2DP issue. Some headphones connect, others do not.
The HP FA303/Logitech headset is one that works. The Moto HT820 is another but has an annoying high frequency distortion. I believe the Jabra BT620 also works correctly but I haven't personally verified this.
My I-Tech S35 BT Headphone adapter
I have to go thru the same process to get a2dp wireless stereo working.
Comm Manager -> Settings ->
Bluetoth Settings -> Devices ->
klick -> set as wireless stereo
I have tried shortcuts using vijays excellent app, but end up getting the wireless headset audio instead of full blown stereo.. there must be a better solution to this..

That doesn't make much sense - the reason why they didn't release technology was because it took too many steps to turn on? You wouldn't remove a room from a house just because the contractor put the switch in an inconvient location...
no... the reason it wasn't ever officially released was because of inconsistent device support. Some headphones connect just fine (HP, Logitech, moto) and others don't. Some headsets sound just fine (HP, Logitech) and other's don't (Moto HT820).
Hey guys. I had a moto ht820 (or whatever) and they connected automatically when they were turned on, but crashed frequently when getting calls. Now I have BT620s (jabra) and they work nice However I do have to go and connect them (sux).
So I am posting in hopes that VJ will see this and write a quick connect for the STEREO BT headset like he wrote the other one for Hands Free.

I'm experience the same problem i have a2dp on my device (mda vario) but everytime i'll have to go to bluetooth, device's, select the headset and set as wireless stereo. isn't there a way to do this automatic?
Becouse it's really bugging me. i have the jabra 620
I have been using for awhile the Moto HS850 and have been able to initiate calls (via voice command), answer calls, etc.
Not too long ago, I went and purchased a H700 (for the noise reduction). For the life of me, I couldn't get the initiate call via VC to work, and it works perfectly with the HS850!
Does anyone have any idea why I would not be able to get the H to work?
Hey guys,
is now a solution out there to connect with one button
the jabra bt620 ??

Hi,
Just a quick question. My Moto HT 820 also works both playing music and working as head set. Unfortunately it's mono .
For the tests I've set the wizard to connect to Moto only as wireless stereo but
it keeps playing mono
Is that my issue or general ?

Hi folks
I've got my self a pair of HP Bluetooth headphones (very nice btw!) but every time I want to use them, I have to turn on bluetooth, go into bluetooth devices, press and hold the bluetooth headphones and select "set as wireless stereo".
My question is, is there anyway of getting my phone to automatically pair with my bluetooth headphones? Rather than having to go into the bluetooth settings everytime?
Or even put a shortcut on the today page would be easier enough?
Thanks
I was having the same question, but people sais that it is not a good idea to keep your device recoverable from other devices all the time from security point of view. So, i refused from this idea

I found out that if you create a shortcut (.lnk) with notepad and put this in it:
23#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,23,1
You can get right to the bluetooth devices screen. I haven't seen how to pair something automatically though. hopefully one of the bluetooth guru's here can figure that out.
Thanks Jizzay1
Start -> link -> Tap+hold -> connected
Alot better than comms manager -> bluetooth settings -> devices -> tap+hold -> connected
Maybe someone will find a way to press a link and connect straight away, but this way I can live with in the mean time
Obviously different to bluetooth headsets. I use a Nokia HDW-3 and it connects everytime, my bluetooth is not set to discoverable either
I'm not sure why you guys have to re-pair your headsets. I never have. If bluetooth and the headset are on then I can make calls through it.

I'm having this problem with my STEREO BT headset, and it sounds like mixmasterollie is too, but it seems like the people that don't have this problem are using normal mono headsets. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
I'll have a mono headset to test tomorrow to see if my 8125 will pair with it automatically.
As iunderstood for the phone calls my STEREO headset is pairing automatically, but not for music

I just tried my friend's over the ear plantronics 510 mono headset and it pairs automatically once i turned on bluetooth on my phone and on the headset. My 8125 doesn't say anything on the screen once it's been paired, but it works.
Sounds like i just have to live with manually pairing my IOGEAR stereo headset.
Try playing with the "action" button on the headset. On mine, the volume up button has a dot on it. I turn on the BT, turn on the headset, wait a couple seconds and hit the volume up button twice. It automatically goes into wireless stereo when I do that. Boy, was I happy when I discovered that!
No such luck I'm afraid, my HP BT Headphones don't auto-pair, no matter what buttons I press on the headset
I think wireless stereo and hands free act differently, whereas the hands free ones connect automatically but the headphones only option doesn't.
Shame really!
I'm looking for a way to progamatically set a bluetooth headset to use the wireless stereo profile using the .Net Compact Framework. I have contacted Peter Foot over at 32feet.net and he has added it to his wishlist for OpenNetCF. But in the meantime if anyone can help with this I would be appreciated.
I'm using the Toronado A2DP hack for my Apache and it works fairly well but everytime I turn on my headset, I have to go to the bluetooth settings and manually set it to use the wireless stereo profile. This is becoming quite dangerous while driving because it's not possible to do with the navigation keys (you must perform a press and hold).
On a completely different side note, if anyone knows how to perform a "press and hold" with the navigation keys, at least I may reduce my chances of wrecking my car.
Thanks - Mark.
The same thing happens with Jabra BT620s... I need to do the whole procedure which is quite long...
If anyone could make a simple click solution that would be great...!
A quick question: doesn't long pressing the play / pause button work?
No, it doesn't. The Play/Pause button acts like a single tap so it takes you to the edit screen.
I think I errored on my nomenclature. It's 'tap and hold', not 'press and hold', sorry.
Now, I'm a .Net developer so I need a managed code api to make this work for me, but if there are any CE Bluetooth wizards out there who could build a simple app where we enter and save the device name and you then set the device to use the wireless stereo profile, that would work too. I know there are lots of people who would love to be able to single click (or auto start) their bt stereo headsets. With this in mind, I actually have two different headsets that I switch back and forth so this app would need to handle multiple headsets (maybe just multiple instances of the app?).

No it doesn't. All we need to do is to simulate the action "Set As Wireless Stereo" through a program... Then with a simple click to set our headset as wireless stereo. I know it seems quite simple in my mind, but it isn't I guess...
SkierHiker I hope you can make it my friend...
I am having the same problem earlier but I had assigned a button to do the hold-tap and it had solved my problem since.
All you need to do is to go to the SETTINGS->BUTTONS and assign a button to "<CONTEXT MENU>" (I had assigned my START button to it).
Another way is to use a macro program called "SKSCHEMA" in which it would record the location where you need to do hold-tap and normal taps and then play back as a macro. A drawback is that the playback may not be accurate because it's based on time playback (tap here, wait for 3 seconds, tap there)There may be cases in which you are running some apps at the background thus causing your pocket pc to lag a bit.
I have the same issue with an i-tech s35 headset.
The setting of a button for context menu is a good idea but to be able to create a shortcut or better still have the headset default to wireless stereo would be great.
Hope someone can come up with something.
BT620s autoconnecting in wireless stereo!
I have applied the upgrade for the BT620s here http://www.jabra.com/JabraCMS/na/EN/Misc/Software620s and now the headset autoconnects and set itself as wireless stereo!
For anyone else with this problem try Mortscript. In the following thread there is a script which will perform the necessary mouse clicks automatically when your headset connects.

Hi all,
Does anybody has tested the HD mini with a Bluetooth headset? More precisely, does the screen keep locked during and after a call answered through a Bluetooth device?
(This is not the case with my current HD2 and locking the hard keys prevents to answer calls from a bluetooth headset... this is not good at all. As the HD mini has different keys for End Call and for Power On/Off, its behavior may be different.)
Another one : aren't the bottom hard keys (which seems to be capacitive, as the screen digitizer, but are they?) too sensitive? Do they tend to end a call when speaking, the phone being held against the cheek?
Have a nice day!
I dunno about the bluetooth stuff as I dont have a headset.
With regards to the buttons, the device has a proximity sensor which turns off the screen and buttons when it's close to your face.

Thank you very much, that's a good point.
I have had my mini for 4 days now, first ever HTC and got to say very impressed. I was on a long run in the car yesterday and used the Bluetooth a few times, I have a Bluetooth headset in the car for streaming music and obviously hands free phone calls.
Il start with the music side; using the standard HTC music player I found that when being played the music would cut out (maybe once or twice) after first setting it up but then be seamless from that point. I have noticed though that when going back to use the Mini (car stationary of course) the music would begin to cut out again. I don’t know if this is the music player or the connection but this has just left me to resort to setting up a playlist then using the car headset to change tracks.
As for the phone, if you have it plugged into the cigarette lighter (very useful for charging without the phone being away from your side) it wont go into standby mode, although the first call i received I used the Mini’s answer button to answer which appeared to cut off the Bluetooth and answer the call as normal, not the best situation to be in when you are driving. The 2nd phone call i got i used the car headset answer button which kept the Bluetooth running.
The only other big issue is that every time I get into the car I have to manually setup the connection from my phone to the car headset, I don’t know if this is meant to be like this or I have missed a setting any advice in this area would be useful
Cheers
Thank you, Q22ube, for you input.
My usage of a bluetooth headset is quite different since, most of the time, I use the phone with a motorcycle helmet headset (Cardo Scala Rider G4) so the phone is in a pocket or in a bag, running on its own battery, and I have no physical access to the device while riding . For now, I am using a HTC HD2 (which is a very nice device but a little too big to use it one hand) and music streaming through Bluetooth A2DP is quite good. I also had to setup a playlist since, by default, the HTC Sence music player will use nearly all music tracks available on the device, including some system sound .

I don't known how works your headset (or car embedded Bluetooth system) but, most of the times you have to pair the audio device with the phone:
set the audio device in pairing mode (according to its user's manual);
go to the Bluetooth control panel of the phone;
from here, search for a new headset (e.g. click "add new headset");
when found, select the audio device and then follow the pairing procedure displayed on the phone screen;
usually, you have to enter a pairing code which should be found in the headset (or car) users's manual (most of the times it is 0000) or only click "OK".
Usually, this pairing procedure must be done only once. After that, provided Bluetooth is already turned on on the phone, you only have to switch on your headset (your car embedded audio system) and it will automatically connect to the phone. If the audio system is already on when you enter your car with your phone, you may have to switch it off and on again to start the bluetooth connection.
It is possible that your audio car system is always searching for known phones and then, the previous paragraph may not apply but I have no experience with such systems (only with some plain headsets).
One last point: please, do not leave Bluetooth in discoverable mode on your phone all the time and double check your Bluetooth security settings... Nobody should discover your phone if you don't want that and no unknown (malicious) device should be able to connect to it.
Cheers
Hi Q22ube and darthrider,
I've had my mini for one day only and found that the bluetooth device partnering is not "for life"
In my nokia formerly, I only needed to pair my gps with the phone once and that would be it! They never needed to be paired each and every time I wanted to use the two together like the mini does now.
I don't think that is normal ... Can you share with me your experiences? I use the GPS a great deal and is the main reason why I bought this phone (because it's the last wm phone and garmin's software only runs on wm and symbian) so it's irritating to have to go through so many steps every time I come back to the car.
Found the solution
Hello again,
After another good many hours of fiddling with the phone I discovered that the Bluetooth button that you find in the "Wireless Controls" tab under "Settings" brings you to "Comm Manager" which is actually a BTWizard.exe
What it should have been is "BTManager.exe" which you can find in Windows directory. This is the exe. file that allows you to launch and find paired devices automatically without needing to constantly repair.
I created a .lnk file in the Windows/Programs/ directory to BTManager.exe, put it into one of my quicklaunch panels and now I can switch on my BT, open the port and go straight into my Garmin programme without needing to repair my BT receiver.
Paired for life!

I did not notice the paring problem you described since I opened the Bluetooth Manager from "Sense Settings Tab > Menu > More > Bluetooth". This opens the true Bluetooth Manager and not the Bluetooth Wizard. Happily, you have found another solution.
I think that the Comm Manager should launch the Bluetooth Manager instead of the Bluetooth Wizard.
