Reapplying same Rom version with SPL1.09..Invalid Vendor - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi all,
I updated my Vodafone Rom to latest HTC HERMES_HTC_WWE 1.35.255.2 & Ext Rom. I am now running on SPL-1.09.
If i wanted to re-run the same ROM i would of thought that it would be OK as all is the same. I did all the unlocking before doing the upgrade when it was on original Vadafone Rom....
Reason is that i want to wipe and restart from scratch.
Thanks for any words of wisdom.

should be safe to reapply the same rom upgrade... but for what you say, you should better do a hard reset, no need to reflash again.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets

Thanks alot that has worked a treat.
Also is this a known issue or not - I actually had a full backup from the previous day and decided to restore that - but once it completed i was unable to get a phone signal god knows why - is this common?
using sbp backup
cheers

Quoting myself - how silly!
Managed top figure out how to use the Mtty.exe utility today and have discovered that the HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v2a.zip did not actually set my CID to SuperCID as intended but left it as Vodap001 - I guess the reason for INVALID VENDOR ID.
I have notice that the original ROM that came with the Phone has been uploaded - HER_VODA_1201616_1030600_UK_SHIP.exe which is BL1.04
I am to understand that i can apply this if necessary to Downgrade ROM and BL from current 1.09 -> 1.04???

Bootloader 1.09 DOES NOT allow DOWNGRADING of itself by means of flashing earlier ROMs. Once installed it is IMPOSSIBLE to DOWNGRADE SPL 1.09 to 1.06 or 1.04 by regular means!

But on this post where you mention of the Shipped ROM, you state
"Notes on this ROM:
This is the current shipping ROM for v1605 Vodafone UK devices, it has bootloader 1.04 and CID VODAP001, so it can be used to downgrade these devices to priced bootloader 1.04 "
But reading the post over the last week i was under the impression that the Bootloader would not be done - 'until i read the recent post mentioned above'.
Thanks anyway

Sorry my fault: only 1.06 can be downgraded by flashing a rom mathcing the CID containing 1.04 bootloader, 1.09 doesn't allow itself to downgrade. I edited the post you mention and added the "1.06" part now

Is it possible to cid-unlock an MDA with IPL/SPL 2.26?

Hi,
I have a new MDA from T-Mobile which I updated to the 2.26 official t-mobile upgrade. I would to back up the device to a mini-sd card from the bootloader; however, am not able to cid-unlock the device (aWizard fails during the write step), and the bootloader is giving me a security level violation error.
Is there a (safe) way to CID-Unlock the device? If not, how else can I do a full backup and guaranteed restore from a mini SD card? I apologize if this has been answered before... I tried to read through the forum however, could not find anything definitive.
Thanks
cid unlocking t-mobile mda
Hi,
I'm from the Netherlands and have exact the same problem.
Can't cid unlock my t-mobile mda.
So if there is an solution i'm interested.
This is the only solution yet: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php

Thanks for your response. I tried Lokiwiz. With Lokiwiz 0.3a (LokiwizMsl.bat) and that provided the SIM unlock code. However, I could not figure out a way to CID unlock with the Lokiwiz 0.3a tool. Lokiwiz 0.2b fails to CID unlock the phone. Again, I apologize if I am missing the obvious, however, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks
You're not doing anything wrong. The latest lokiwiz does not include the CID unlock feature, and the last version that does will not unlock 2.25 and above. It may not work on earlier ones either, but I know I have 2.25 and it's not working.
Re: Lokiwiz Issues:
Opppsss....I guess the poster on the link I gave you meant to be SIM Unlock not CID Unlock. I appologize. I just re-read the link and realized that. I'm sorry.
I think the only solution is to CID unlock before you upgrade to ROM 2.26. I read from some other threads as well that this upgrade does not require you to redo the CID unlock. Could anyone confirm me on this?
Thanks

I can confirm that the CID unlock is (so far...) completely permanent once done... I think, however, that you have to unlock with a 1.xx rom, not ANY 2.xx rom. In other words, I do not think that it is just 2.25 and up or just 2.26 that you can't unlock I think it is any rom that starts with a 2. If someone could confirm, it would be appreciated... I do believe that there is some sort of temporary workaround to flash a new rom without CID unlock, but I am not sure how (I am unlocked), or even where I saw that...
Hi,
Thanks for your responses: Is there a way to downgrade to an official 1.08 ROM, and then CID unlock the device, and then bump back up to a 2.26 ROM?
Thanks
i was thinkin of doin that. when i bought my mda it came with the 1.8 rom, and i upgraded it to 2.26. now i be wantin to cid unlock it.
so i was thinkin of tryin to install the 1.8 rom and cid unlock it. but the question is will the 1.8 rom install properly after 2.26 is installed
Before you attempt to downgrade from a 2.x to 1.x Rom you need to be aware of a few things.
1. If you have a G4 flash chip YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE TO A 1.x ROM. (Search for G4, to determine this)
2. You will need to use the modified RUU package from a custom Rom which is hacked to always think your phone as Rom version 1.2 installed (again a little searching will explain better)
3. If you try this, your IPL & SPL (bootloaders) will get out of sync (one will remain 2.x). This is a dangerous situation for your phone and you just might brick it!
4. If you read up on how to "cook your own Rom" (yep search for it) you can create Roms without bootloaders which don't need your phone to be CID unlocked.

Ah ha, so there is a risk of say putting in Tmobile's oem 2.26 rom (or future oem roms) to re SIM and CID lock then.
I myself have an 8125 with ipl/1.08 : 1.08, gsm : 01.16.11, os : 1.8.11.1 and was thinking of upgrading to Tmo's 2.26.

unlock cingular 8525 ver 1.6

I have bought cingular 8525 with 1.6 version but its locked. Can anyone tell me how to unlock it free with no hastles. Thanks
Do you mean you have a bootloader version 1.06? If so, that is what I just did about 2 days ago.
Simply go to the TyTN wiki and find the list of ROMs. Get the Cingular ROM version 1.30 with the 1.04 boot loader. Flash that, do the unlocker thing that is stickied in the upgrades forum for the Hermes, then you can upgrade to whatever ROM you wish. I recommend the 1.09 bootloader ROM by HTC. It has the best performance out of all of them and it is now possible to downgrade if you want again.
BTW, once you unlock in 1.04, it stays with you nomatter what ROM you flash.
Good luck

Not true.
Once you CID unlock, you can flash ANY rom, but bootloader 1.04 will not stay.
Whoops
That is exactly what I meant, thanks Pof.

Advice needed for Cingular 8525 in Australia

Recently got a Cingular 8525 unlocked in US.
When I was searching for the Optus network(my network provider) via the Network setting on the phone, It only showed Telstra on the list.
I am thinking of flashing the firmware.
Just wonderring if there this is one good way of solving this question. Or are there alternatives to this?
Can I actually flash a Dopod 838 Pro firmware on it?
BTW the australian version of the phone is Jasjam. if this info helps.
I don't know why Optus wasn't showing, but I can tell you that you can indeed flash a Dopod ROM on your device. Please read the Upgrading forum and the wiki for more info.
Cingular 8525 can support ordinary GSM networks right?
Once think i know is that Telstra has the HSP...thingie.. the high speed 3G network.
Would it be possible that Cingular only recognize signals from the HSP..thingie high speed network from Telstra?
Only if it's set to do so. I've never used a Cingular ROM on my Hermes, but on other devices, I know they like to restrict things. Switching to a different ROM may be helpful in that respect, in case they have restricted that.
If you decide to flash, I would recommend the following steps:
1. Flash Hard-SPL to lessen the chance of bricking your device in the future
2. Flash the 1.38.00.10 Radio ROM (latest and greatest)
3. Flash an OS-only ROM of your choice - I would recommend a WM6 ROM because the most work is being done on those at the moment, and WM6 appears to be faster than WM5.
The wiki has links to all the available Radio and OS ROMs. All the WM6 ROMs are cooked, so look in that section. The reason I am recommending a mix-and-match approach is that it allows for the most choice as well as safety. Normal ROMs from providers flash everything - bootloader, radio, OS, and ExtROM. If the flashing fails at an inopportune moment, your device could be permanently bricked. However, when flashing different parts at different times, you lessen the chance of bricking. For example, when I was flashing the WM6 ROM, the flash process suddenly froze at 22%. But it was an OS-only upgrade, so my bootloader and radio ROM remained intact, and since I flashed the Hard-SPL bootloader earlier, I was able to simply restart the flashing process, and it completed successfully.
I hope this helps. BTW, I think you're referring to HSDPA, a high-speed download upgrade to UMTS.
i've made the CID to SUperCID using CIDhack v3.0 from pof. (Software results said it was successfully changed CID to SuperCID)
Can I lock this SuperCID status forever?
Where can i find the OS-only ROMs? I can only see available full ROMs in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Is there a instruction on how to use mtty or putty? I find myself hard to follow how to enter those commands and verify certain values in bootloader. e.g. CID infomation
As for flashing the dopod rom on the cingular, you can do that. I have an Imate JasJam i bought overseas and i'm using it in the US with cingular. I've flashed 2 different cingular roms on it with no problems (other than the video call being disabled but thats not functioning in america.) My JasJam is SuperCID.
Hope this helps, as to not seeing the network you need, don't know whats causing that. Have you put the Band Selection to auto under phone settings?

As I stated earlier, the OS-only ROMs are WM6, so look under the Cooked ROMs section. Once you've made your device SuperCID it will stay SuperCID unless something goes horribly wrong and your CID gets corrupted (which wouldn't be a problem if you have Hard-SPL)

First of all. I'd like to thank all the guys replied to my message. I am very happy to announce that my Cingular 8525 is now working in Australia with Optus GSM network.
Here is the steps I had:
1) using pof's "Free HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker New version v3" tool to change the CID to SuperCID
2) Because my original SPL version on the phone is 1.06. So I downloaded Cingular 1.04 firmware and upgraded via USB in bootloader mode. (I wasnt sure if i needed this step even thou I had made CID to SuperCID, but I was thinking of using Cingular 1.04 before I change it to other OS)
3) downloaded JasJam 1.04 firmware and upgraded via USB again
4) Now there is some extra options in Network Tab, most importantly there is a Band tab for user to select between GSM and WCDMA network. I then selected Optus of course...
5) Mission accomplished!
Again, Thanks guys!! thank you so much for helping me out.
Now there are several things that I am still unsure about:
1) Did I Hard-SPL the CID already using pof's "Free HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker New version v3"?
2) How can I type in commands in bootloader mode to check status? via mtty or ssh? if so, which address and port number i should connect to? what User name and PW to use.
3) The Jasjam firmware I used was "I-mate English CDL__001 1.20.305.3 07/21/06 1.20.305.104 1.07.03.10 32.41.7010.02H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.04 107 ". According to the specs "32.41.7010.02H " I shold have HSDPA because the number ends with a "H". But I can only select between Auto, GSM and WCDMA. So where has the HSDPA gone to?

1) No. Hard-SPL is a modified bootloader flashed onto your device. It shows SPL version 1.10 Oli or the new version 2 Hard-SPL shows 1.11 Oli (I assume).
2) You must use mtty or a similar serial communications program. SSH is a completely different protocol, and has absolutely nothing to do with this. You do not need a username or password to access the Hermes through mtty.
3) HSDPA is an upgrade to UMTS. UMTS is based on WCDMA, so that is what you should choose.

Yes, the newest LVSW ROM comes with a bootloader (1.09) and a radio ROM (1.34). People are requesting an OS-only update from him because we like to have our own BL and radio ROMs. I have a feeling he'll upload one soon, if he hasn't already.
If I want to flash my 8525 with the following image:
Dopod English http://dict.leo.org/en.gif DOPOD001 1.30.707.4 08/22/06 ?? 1.20.31.10 32.52.7020.00H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.06 107
so..two questions (maybe stupid noobie questions):
1) will my SPL be affected after I've run Hard-SPL before flashing?
2) Do I need to run Hard-SPL everytime before I flash my phone?
I don't think you're getting what I'm saying. The SPL, as referred to in this context, is the bootloader. It is arguably the most important part of the firmware because it is the first thing that starts up and then loads the radio and OS components. Hard-SPL is a hacked bootloader made by xda-dev member Olipro, which forgoes certain security checks and allows us to flash ROMs we would not ordinarily be able to flash. Does that make sense so far?
Next, you're asking about an official ROM upgrade from Dopod. All official ROM upgrades (except for one, a German radio-only upgrade) include a bootloader, radio, OS, and ExtROM. So if you flash an official ROM, your current bootloader - be it Hard-SPL or anything else - will be overwritten.
That's why I think it's safer to flash individual updates instead of full ones, so that only the things you want to be overwritten will be overwritten and everything else will be as it was before.
If you flash that Dopod ROM, you will have SPL-1.06, radio 1.20, and their OS and ExtROM customizations. If you already have Hard-SPL installed, it will be overwritten by SPL-1.06.
Please reread this whole thread carefully before posting a response.

Cannot Downgrade Rom From 3.16 To 2.17??

I had 2,17 and upgraded to the leak rom 3.16. I did not use any locker or unlocker when upgrading. I am having issues with mail2web that it sends the same sent email several times. I think there is an active sync bug with the leaked rom. Anyways, I am trying to downgrade back to the official 2.17 and I when try to flash after the intial reboot it tell me error 328 invaild command
can anyone please help??
According to my sources, you needed to use olipro's unlocker v2 in order to upgrade the rom to 3.16 in the first place. I wonder how you did it?
I just got done putting the 2.17 rom back on my machine from 3.16 due to a ton of stability issues, not to mention I was downloading at approx 100kbps with 3.16 as opposed to 6-700kbps with 2.17.
Anyways...
You need to use the relocker program and then directly begin the 2.17 rom utility from HTC.
Be sure to remove and reinsert the usb cable when noted.
RELOCKER
nah, you dont need the unlocker if you never flashed a different rom to begin with. (stock rom)
to op, sounds like maybe you need to downgrade back to original bootloader...thats the best i can come up with.
thanks for the responses,
how do I get the oringinal bootloader??
i figure it out. For someone reason when you upgrade to 3,16 the device unlocks automatically, so i relocked the device with the relocker and the 2.17 rom flashed with out any issues. thanks
Did you have to go back to the original radio also?

Yep I tried to downgrade to 2.17 and had the same issue. All I did was hard reset the 3.16 and it cleared all my audio woes, so I never went back to 2.17. At least now I know why I couldn't. And no, you did not need to unlock to upgrade to 3.16
Find the relocker. There is a version of it that has the stock bootloader with it.

is my wizard allready unlocked

i just have bought wizard, a used one, and it has already been SIM unlocked, it's a T-mobile MDA and i dont have a T-mobile SIM inside.
the thing is, i would like to upgrade to WM6, ive looked at all sticky threads, and i know the drill, but ive noticed that my IPL/SPL is 3.08.
in this READ FIRST thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
says in step 17 that is the best to use this ROM 3.08. Maybe is my device already also CID unlocked, but how can i be sure? is there some app that can tell me is my Vario CID unlocked, so i dont need to go step by step to unlocked it?
please help
P.S. Sorry for my grammar, im from Croatia
If you want to know if it is cid unlocked try flashing a rom to it. If it is the rom will work if it isnt cid unlocked the RUU program will inform you that the rom was not designed for your device.
I am guessing that you have a G3 wizard if so download this
http://rapidshare.com/files/53377946/Wizard__CID___Sim_Unlocker.rar
that contains the love rom lokiwiz (all versions) and an o2 official rom WM5 extract it and try running lokiwiz that will tell you if your device is unlocked or try flashing the o2 rom if it works its cid unlocked, if it reports back it is not designed for your device its locked.
NOTE WELL. DONT TRY FLASHING THIS ON A G4!!!!!
tnx, my IPL/SPL is 3.08, so it is not G4, it's a G3
EDIT:
so, i just download any ROM, like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367534 and connect my phone to active sync, start .exe and wait??
EDIT2: hmmm, ive downloaded this rom, but no exe file
EDIT3: think i got is, xp_rom_update utility
ok, i was little worried about "
NOTE WELL. DONT TRY FLASHING THIS ON A G4!!!!!"
i mean, i have IPL/SPL 3.08, this is G3 right?
and does it work for you?
look post over your's
Nono01
Before flashing any rom, download the 'WST Tool' and run the 'CID Action' button to verify the CID lock/unlock status of your phone. With ipl/spl 3.08,it becomes quite difficult to downgrade and CID unlock the phone, therefore,I'll advise you to get it confirmed if your phone is already unlocked or not,ok
Cheers!

enabled.
Use first button for that purpose and try again"

What about these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263116
Its required to downgrade to IPL/SPL 1.xx to CID unlock the phone using lokiwiz02b tool, then upgrade to ipl/spl 2.xx for upgrade to any wm6 roms. Read and try to do the method correctly as instructed here in this guide :-
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...0for newbies
Although,it sometimes becomes quite difficult to downgrade from ipl/spl 3.08,but its possible. You can also download the official carrier's rom and flash to downgrade to first ipl/spl 2.xx and then onward flash the Button's Rom 1.05 to downgrade to ipl/spl 1.xx and apply lokiwiz02b to unlock.its better to decrease downgrade step wise, 3.08-----> 2.xx-----> 1.xx.
You'll find all the roms/tools and instruction in the above link.
Goodluck
