I installed Netfront and Mortbutton recently - I now have a very long startup 1-2 minutes.
I have removed both yet the problem persist?
How can I restore the strtup time without a hardreset. Do the uninstallers not remove all components?

1) Everytime i try to uninstall an application i get this error "<application> was not completly removed from. Do you want to remove it from the list of Installed programs?"
If i said yes and then restart the application is still there and running and everything. WHAT CAN I DO??
2) I installed Skype that comes preloaded on the K-Jam, i want to uninstall it in order to install a newer version but it didn't show up on the uninstall list! I also installed the Vodafone dialer skin and it wasn't added to the installed programs list. What i can do?

Me face the same problem
Any help would be Appreciated.
Hello Guys,
Try JEYOS software its fully functional free for 15 days, you can connect your PDA to your Outlook and download all the SMS's in to already installed JEYOs plugin, and then restore them again later on.
But be carefull as this plugin will give some hard time to the Outlook during loading and get crash, but dont worry u not gonna loose any backuped SMS's, just restart your Outlook and it will be ok.

Try to install the new version of Skype on top of the older one.

Here is a procedure
There is a lot written about this on the forum. It is a major nuisance that nothing uninstalls properly. Here is what I do:
Backup device (I use spb backup)
Turn program off. Sometimes this requires killing the running file.
Uninstall using using the uninstall function, either from the device or activesync.
Soft reset. If program still runs, kill it.
Using file explorer, remove remnants (identified by program name) from /Windows/Start Menu/Programs, /Windows, /Windows/AppMgr and /Program Files. If the program installed to the SD card you have to look there too.
Using Memmaid, kill any notifications the program created. You can use it to eliminate bad registry links, too, but that rarely works in my experience.
Soft reset
This has worked for me.
I strongly recommend being unnaturally organized about the software you install and the settings. Keep a log. After uninstalling a bunch of programs, you are probably going to want to do a hard reset and install the software you actually like, and this will be easy if you have all the information (passwords, settings) at hand. It is the only way to have a clean device with no remnants of programs that didn't properly uninstall.
Hello,
I briefly installed SPb Backup but had some issues with it and uninstalled it.
Before removing it I set it to auto-backup, which it still tries to do...
Where can I find its parts so I could completely wipe it?
Send an e mail to Spb support and they will tell you what files you need to delete.

Had the same problem. Remove the \Windows\SpbBackupRunner.exe from the Notification Queue with either MemMaid or SKTools. Then, suspend (so that the changes are flushed back to the flash ROM) and, then, reset the device; now, delete \Windows\SpbBackupRunner.exe by hand.
I have used SPB Backup on a number of HTC devices over the last couple of years (Universal, Wizard and Hermes) with no problems. In every case the backup has taken a couple of minutes to complete.
But with the Niki, I am having all sorts of problems. When I try to carry out a backup, it is painfully slow. On the first few attempts it timed out, saying that SPB Backup was not responding. I am presently trying again, but switching off the screen during the process. I switch it back on occasionally to check progress. After about 30 minutes, I am still only about 1/4 of the way through.
I am using the latest version of SPB Backup, and it is installed to my device.
Is there anyone out there who has SPB Backup working with their Niki?
Had the same problems. Try SpriteBackup or wait for a fix!
If you want a "clean" restore, you should always hard reset the device before restoring from backup.

Thanks for that. I guess that I will go with SpriteBackup.
If you go into options you can uncheck the box that says "stop processes before backup", this has worked for me.
I now get good backups, I don't ever have any processes left running to stop anyway.
If you do then manually stopping them first may be the way to go.
I have a Neon not a Niki but had the same problem
SPB backup version 2 works fine
Just tried newly released SPB Backup v 2 & works fine wt 'stop all processes' ticked. It seems faster too.

Just got it, Installed and backed up a couple times. I also tested by doing a hard reset and using the stand-alone restorer option for the backup. Restored perfectly. Bluetooth partnerships, exchange and everything works like it never went down.
Great app. Can't wait to test the ROM upgrade feature
SPB Backup not working ADDITION 1
ADDITION 1:
I managed to create the same problem again with SPB Backup version 2 while tweaking the fonts & system cache settings upwards (see post on 'how to make our devices more responsive' by tweaking the registry or actually use excellent little programme called Nike Tweak (you will find it somewhere in the forum). When I downgraded the settings a bit the programme was again able to backup my system with the 'stop prcesses' box ticked. Though I didn't actually test, I suspect one could manage to use version 1 to perform a full backup of device system by downgrading these settings. the other possible advantage of version 2 over version 1, apart from speed, is that I stopped getting the worrying error message 'could not open file /Windows/Isoma/lic/00000...0.db' the significance of which I don't actually know.
A few days ago I have updated my phone using the SE update software. I made a backup of my personal data because the software told me that all the data would be erased.
After the update was completed I restored my backup succesfully. Unfortuantly all the icons of the programs I had installed on my external memorycard before the update were gone in my programlist, while their systemfiles were still at my external memorycard...
But the strangest thing is that the programs do come up in the list of programs in 'Removing Programs'. But when I select a program to remove (with the idea to install it again so I have got the icon back to open it), I get an error and the question to remove the program from the list. If I click yes the program stays in the list
So in short, the problem is that I have a lot of programs on my memorycard which I can't open because it has no icon in the list of programs. When I try to uninstall it I got an error with every program which was installed on my external memorycard before I did the update...
Hope someone can help me!
m.youtube.com at the bottom...
there is a new youtube app, but it is not working properly on jade... tried it, went to landscape mode, did not switch back properly, uninstalled it, original youtube app lost, hard reset.
so just stick to the one installed already, u dont have to loose time like i did
Backup
Next time, try backup .
For example: SPB Backup or maybe Sprite Backup Tool (never tried but it is for download on HTC site http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=174&act=sd&cat=all)
Tried, the full SPB Backup, but received errors... Bad luck. Was about 124MB, but crashed during re-backup.
At least I have my essentials, the must-haves installs, in one folder on the memory card, so re-do is an act of about 1hr.
Will try the sprite one as well.
Funny enough, WM is like Vista/XP. If you try a lot of apps, uninstall them afterwards, the device gets slower and slower... So my must-have folder is pretty limited...
What version of SPB Backup did you use?
2.0.1 build 3092
