is there anyway to use the search function in the archive?
The standard search function will cover the archives.
I always use "search topic" site:forum.xda-developers.com at google... seems to be a little more accurate
its because the default view for this forum is for a days posts..
scroll to the bottom of the page in each wizard forum. The section labled display options. It will says display from 'last day'. Change this to 'begining' and click show threads. I'm sure you can permanently set this in your forum proile (User CP)

Do as most do before posting a topic in such a forum - SEARCH THE INTERNET.
Within a few seconds, I found these results...

Just open up Google, search for what you're trying to locate, once your results appear, click IMAGES at the top of the page....
...this really is simple stuff...

You might have been reading, but you didn't search
It's all over the place and in the Wiki, good luck.
karloe is absolutely right.
For you and any other novice that happens to see this (and a few who should know better):
It took me literally a few`seconds to get the Bandswitch download location -
1
I went to the Search XDA-Developers using Google sticky post near the top of the messages listing
2
I opened the first search option and entered "bandswitch download" and clicked on search
3
Guess what - top of the list came the download location for Bandswitch! see the list I got with this quick/easy search
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=b...rum.xda-developers.com&as_rights=&safe=images
Now go forth and spread the word - Searching XDA-Developers is a piece of cake!!!!

I have a strange problem... whenever I want to click a link while browsing the internet using Opera, I have to zoom in first then click on the link!! Even when I use the stylus to click the link, I see its color changes but the link is not clicked!
I know if I keep pressing, I can choose to open the link in new tab from the pop-up menu... but this is not what I want... I want to be able to click the link while the page is zoomed out, and open the page in the same tab. Is this possible??
yes you can.
type opera:config in url and change minimum overview zoom to 85% under adaptive zoom then save settings.

Actually it is! If you follow my link in previous post for hints & tips and go to No.27 you will find your solution.
What you may also notice is that hints & tips is in the wiki!!
When someone says read the wiki.......this doesn't mean scan it and leave parts out, it means read the whole thing. My previous post even pointed to the correct section of the wiki to help you, so don't bother getting mad at me
Well, I've been checking the forum everyday. Sometimes I post a thread and it is really difficult to find it afterwards. Does the forum have some kind of notifications when others reply your post?

Kind sir,
The forum does have a "subscribe to thread" option which can be accessed by clicking the "subscribe to thread' button located at the top of each thread near the page results navigator. Therein you can choose to be notified instantly, daily or weekly, as threads are replied to. A link to the reply will be included in the e-mail.
A second option is for you to click on your name after the 'Welcome' at the top of the page. If you click on the tab "statistics" you will be able to view all posted made by you in any thread, and clicking on that post will take you to the thread.
Hope this helps!
Anyone having issues with xda right now? I cant access older pages of many threads. I get this message
Invalid Forum specified. This can happen for a variety of reasons-- most likely because the thread or post you are trying to view has been moved or deleted. Please return to the forum home and browse for another similiar post.
Thanks for your post. We just switched this forum over to English URL's and this problem is likely related. I will report to the server administrator.
Ii've found the links at the bottom of multi-page threads to the other pages in that thread doesn't work but the links at the top do work.
Yup - its a bug on the bottom navigation - use the top one for now and we should have this fixed up soon.

The "go to first unread post" links from the user control panel subscriptions do not work as well. Thanks for looking into it!
