Signal constantly searching - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi,
I have the o2 mini s with a pay as you go sim. The problem I have is that the phone constantly searches for a network but never finds it. It won't let you manually search for a network. I have tried the sim in another phone and it is fine all works perfectly. I have tried a orange sim in the phone and a tmobile sim both pay monthly, these got their respective networks but wouldn't actually call or receive calls. Every other aspect of the phone is faultless but unfortunately it isn't much use as a phone! Any help would be greatly appreciated before the phone gets thrown out of the window!!

New US T-mobile MDA not working with old sim

I received a new T-mobile MDA and put my existing (about a year old) sim card in it. It keeps searching for a network without ever finding one. Interestingly, it does receive voicemail notification.
I used the lokiwiz program to unlock it, and when I put another network's sim in it, it gets a signal and I can make a call. But when I put the T-mobile sim back in, it never gets a signal.
In the phone options menu, i I set network selection to manual and search for networks, it will show T-mobile and Cingular. If I select either one, I get a message that the phone failed to register on the network.
T-mobile tech support eventually decided the phone is faulty and should be replaced. Hassle, hassle.
My existing sim card works fine in other phones including my imate Jam.
Anybody experienced the same thing?
Not me. As a matter of fact my SIM is over 3 years old and went through probably many phones already...
T68
T610
Treo 600
Razr
MDA
I always laugh when the T-Mobile tech support suggest that my SIM card could be bad when something is not working. That's probably the most reliable technology that I can see, yet...
i have an OLD voicestream SIM and works fine.
Ha!
I returned my first MDA after T-mobile's tech support determined it was defective.
I got a 2nd MDA from the T-mobile store...same problem! I decided to give it a shot and called T-mobiel tech support. After the usual swapping of SIMs and resetting etc. the tech told me to do a "hard hard reset" - holding the voice activation and connection manager buttons and pressing the reset button at the same time. Then select "send" to completely clear the device memory.
After it booted up I had signal and could make phone calls!
UNBELIEVABLE that T-mobile is shipping devices that don't work without expert fixing!

Not receiving calls on Hermes, but still on other phones

Hallo,
I have a world-wide gsm version of the htc Hermes. The device is simlock-free and always has been. I put the official, albeit leaked, WM6 rom on it and it works great. But: last week I switched providers (for better data plans) and here is the result:
Data connection works just fine
SMS works just fine
But, I can hardly make calls and I don't receive any. The problem is not the network, because I switched phones (I put my SIM in a €26 SamSung phone which I use when I go camping) and I receive all of the calls. When someone calls me, they hear silence for about 30 seconds and then end up with my voicemail.
Any ideas as how to solve this? Both my old and new carrier are GSM. The only difference between them is that my old carrier (Belgium, Proximus) uses has a 3G/HSPDA network whereas my new carrier (Belgium, MObile Vikings; uses the network of BASE) has an EDGE network. Both operate on Dual Band.
EDIT: Would a radio upgrade do any good? If so, any suggestion for a radio version?
Thank you!
Come on, 80 views and no reply. Someone must have had an idea!
I did a radio upgrade (1.48-> 1.50) but that didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas?
I have TyTN and similar problem. Installed WM6, and worked fine for a 6 months. Few days ago problem (Strange?) started. I have GSM signal, I can make calls, I can receive calls from fixed lines and other GSM operators, but I can't receive calls from users of my domestic network?!? They get info Connection error? Please, HELP.
Also, when I ask request service for Call Barring I get info "Can't read specified service..."
Change the Sim
Long shot but have either of you thought to get a new sim from your current provider (port your number across if necessary) and see if that works?
WB
I've changed SIM card, it's still same problem! But, with a SIM card of other mobile operators I have no problem.

Sounds like a problem that's related to the network provider you are using. Have you chased down their technical dept for help? All else fails, move providers.
Once had a problem where I could not get mobile signals at home but could everywhere else. Turned out my service provider had issues with broadcasts to the cell near me.
They fixed it and gave me my charges back equal to the time the system had been out.
Good luck with it.

Rebel Simcard Stopped Working... :(

I just got my streak this morning. I inserted the rebel simcard along with my simcard.
Voice calls were working, text messages, voicemail, etc...
I noticed a few hours later that it now displays NO SERVICE...
I tried everything, rebooting, taking out battery, taking the rebel simcard out and putting it in again, still says no service.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

Have you done everything it says on the rebel Sim forum there is a video and a section on there with lots of answers and do a google for your problem chances are some one has come across your problem before
I checked out the FAQ and it said to keep ROAMING DATA ON.
It WAS on at first when it was working but I turned it off since I do not use it and have to pay 50 pence everytime I connect to it!
Keeping roaming on will charge me £14 per month!
Hopefully soon they will find a way to unlock it properly, but annoying that I MUST keep roaming ON otherwise phone will not work...
my rebel sim ii doesnt work that well either - I am on optus in australia. I need an unlock code. Hopefully it will come thru when it gets released in america and china.
Cyanogen - you know u wanna
Its true.rebel work not fine.i need a code.

It SHOULD work. However, you have to use it in a certain way.
The Rebel sim wasn't working for me either until I followed a guide.
After I followed these instructions, the rebel sim card now works...
What you have to do is:
1. You need to place your network sim in a 2G only phone and let your simcard get network.
2. If using a 3G Model phone turn off 3G and then get network on your sim in 2G mode but this does not work for all phones as some phones even when you turn off 3G in the software functions will initalise your network sim in 3G/UMTS Mode but we need to initialise the network sim in 2G mode so try another model phone to get network in 2G then use in Dell Streak if you cant get network at all that is the reason.
3. Place in Dell streak but first make sure Dell Streak Data roaming is turned on and 3G is off
4. From Time to time you may loose network when travelling through network black spots but when stationary its not a problem.
5. When you loose network the only way to regian this is to place your network sim in a 2g only phone or a phone is 2g mode as described above and then enter back in to the Streak.

Yes i do this.but the 5 point is no good.my provider work only in 3g mode.my provider is 3.if i put in 2g mode work but i dont have data connection.
Ah ok, it's a shame...
I do not use 3g so it's not a problem for me but it's a problem at the moment for those who do!
I just looked at my phone and it now says ''no service''
One day it will work, the next it won't...
It's really pissing me off.
The rebel simcard is really unreliable, what a waste of £10...
I really do need to find a proper way of unlocking it.
I now have a phone that does not work.
Anyone have any suggestions?
This is a temporary but annoying solution to get your rebel sim working again...
I've done this for the THIRD time in 2 days...
After a few hours or a day of using your streak with the rebel sim, you will suddenly notice emergency calls or no service...
Regardless of what you do, turn your phone off and on or even taking out your simcard and reinserting it will not solve the problem.
The only solution is to get a spare phone, put your simcard in it, manually specify your network, then put the simcard along with the rebel sim back into the dell streak...
It's really stupid that I have to do this to get reception, should I of known this I would not have bought the dell or this piece of $hit rebel sim card which doesn't work properly for most people...

This has been working now for me for the last 12 hrs
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Cool, glad you got it working!
Mine has been working all day so far, around 12 hours so far, I hope it stays that way!!
ok this morning I noticed I wasn't recieving SMS's or Calls - so I rebooted and it fixed it FYI
Nothing against the method that was devised - but this phone caught me out again whilst I was out and about and dropped connection to calls / sms and 3g all at once and totally screwed me. As a result, I'm putting it back in the cupboard and getting out my G1 until an unlock code is released.
I dont understand why dont exist unlock code for streak.its impossible find other method for code?
I'm unsure why it works for some people and others it doesn't...
However, yes, it's best to get an unlock code as it will permanently work & all features/functions will work...
My Streak may stop working soon as well, who knows...
But try to do it again as I have.
I have had my streak for only 3 days and 3 times it suddenly stopped working and I got no network and I had to get another spare unlocked phone and follow the previous instructions.
Try the instructions again and see what happens.
Hi
Looks like all are using older v1.1 firmware that has some issues with Dell Streak.
However the the newer V1.2 that was released fixes anu kind of issues with signal loss

Dual Sim networking

Hi people,
I've searched the forum for an answer to my question, no joy so here goes on a new thread.
I recently bought myself a Chinese dual sim smart phone, named "Longhorn" (no sniggering!), but pretty sure it's better known as a STAR MTK6573. Great phone for the money, 1GB processor, all the bells and whistles. My problem is that I want to use two sim cards, one from a British network, one from a Norwegian network. Right now I'm in Norway and the Norwegian sim is working faultlessly, the British sim works when the phone is switched on first, but then after varying amounts of time the British sim drops out of service. If I turn the phone off, then restart the UK sim comes back into service but again goes off after some time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours.
I've looked through the sim related settings but can't find a solution, and even contacted the British network operator to see if they know any answers - they don't.
I'll be going to the UK shortly so it'll be interesting to see if the Norwegian sim starts cutting service when I'm there, in the time being does anyone have any ideas for a permanent solution?
Thanks to all for reading, and musing on the problem, in anticipation.

Did you try switching the SIM-Slots ?
Are both using same freq ?
Did you used Sim-Turbo or other "perfect unlockers" ? <- im asking because after using one of those "great" inventions my SIM started to droping signal on diffrent phone (like the X-Turbo/X-Sim/Sim-Turbo) install some junk on sim...

Hi, thanks for your answer. I haven't installed any sim "enhancing" software, and the phone is brand new. Swapping the sim slots doesn't seem to make a difference, even though only one is WDMA. I think the problem is to do with roaming from my UK sim, when the signal strength drops out the sim loses service to the roaming network, but doesn't reinstate the service when signal improves.
Update
OK, so a little progress was made! The phone only has the option to set one of the SIMs as 3g. The local SIM was set as the default and therefore had the 3g setting applied to it. If I force change the 3g to the roaming SIM the roaming SIM stays in service for longer, and is more stable but still loses service periodically (at least twice a day). Any further suggestions?

OK, so I now have a working dual sim phone using two networks from two different countries. My initial headaches were all caused by the overseas network SIM. Either faulty or incompatable but after a SIM swap from the network company it now works faultlessly.

G935U firmware with Verizon MVNO

Hi guys,
I bought the unlocked firmware phone back in December 2016. The phone is great, the problem is I am using EcoMobile MVNO. It's refusing to recognize the network with the MVNO's sim card. I've spent hours on the phone with them and they claim all is OK on their (and Verizon's) end.
The phone sort of works, so I've just been grinning and bearing it so far. Using 4G switcher, I can put it in CDMA only mode, in which case it connects to '123456' and I can receive and make calls, and receive texts, but have no internet. If I put it in full LTE/GSM/CDMA auto mode, it connects to LTE, so I have internet, but it claims I'm not connected to Verizon network and in fact it's not available. So in this mode I can't receive calls or texts. Can't send texts under any mode. I've done a full factory reset at the MVNO's behest, of course that did nothing. The phone seems to connect fine to Verizon's network if I borrow someone elses's Verizon sim. My MVNO sim also works in my wife's iPhone5 without a problem. So it really seems to come down to the firmware on the phone. I'm holding out against hope that when Nougat comes to the G935U firmware, this problem is magically solved... but just in case decided to post here.
Please help, any ideas would be appreciated.

Flash the vzw firmware or go through the steps for the hybrid rom with vzw modems implemented.
Thanks. I was really hoping for something less intrusive, maybe some CSC edit fix, or some such.

Welp, the 7.0 update is here, and it didn't fix my issue, in fact now I can't even get LTE data as I used to get. :crying:
So I had this issue when I first got the nougat update. When I got my S7 I put in my brothers sim card to made sure it worked on Verizon cause i was buying it from someome and anyway I activated my straight talk verizon SIM and everything was great until I got the update and my service was weird and I didn't know what to do and then it dawned on me, I put in an actual verizon SIM card, doesn't need to be active let it register and then put your SIM back in and everything was great! Hope this helps...
Switched to TotalWireless, phone works now. They first sent me a SIM which didn't work, then had to send a different, post-paid one.
I now suspect if ECO also sent me a postpaid based SIM it would start working. Things are always way too complicated when Verizon is involved.

I'm tempted to try this as I'm having the same problem with my 935U and Xfinity Mobile (Verizon MVNO) SIM, instead of connecting to the Verizon network, it connects to network 123456. I did load the 935V firmware, which worked fine, but I'd prefer to return to the U firmware if this would work. Is this still working for you, and if so, do you just need to put the regular verizon sim in once and from then on the MVNO sim will work, and continue to work including after a reboot?

I put in a Verizon SIM in it once and that was after the nougat update. But every time the phone restarts, I have to make a phone call for it to connect to the service or it will just stay stuck in "searching for service" but once the phone call connects, I hang up and everything works as it should.

Thanks, strange problem. I'll probably just stick with the 935V firmware for now as that's working fine (just have the Verizon bloat and failing the hotspot check). I also have a dialog going with Samsung support to see if they're aware of the problem and have a fix.
