One sad guy here............. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

So I'm walking along, talking on my phone, when BAM!! I slip on the ice, and my phone goes flying. Now I have a cracked screen, that only shows white, except where the crack is... Is there anywhere you can get replacment screen for these? I have been looking around on the net, but to no avail. My phone model is an HTC Wizard 8125. The phone itself is still functional, I can make calls using my blue tooth head set and voice tags, I just cant see anything on the screen. ANY help in locating a new or used screen would be GREATLY appriciated.
Thank you.

nevermind, I dont know why I didnt think to look on ebay. Found about a dozen or so on there ranging in price from 55.00 up to around 70.00. Pricey little slip this turned out to be

sucks to hear man. good luck with getting your new screen.

Make sure you verify which screen model you have. (there are 2)
It's not necessarily based on whether it's a Wiza100 or a Wiza200 model phone. The part #'s are on the screen itself, so you'll have to disassemble to find out.
Good luck!

Where to buy a motherboard / mainboard for TyTN

I've been experiencing the intermittent "No GSM" problem, and I'm pretty sure it's the mainboard (it started after I dropped the phone). Already opened the phone a few times / reflashed Radio etc...
Does somebody know where can I find a board for a HTC TyTN (Hermes 200) on the internet?
Thanks for the help!
i would be interested in this too
Maybe you could consider buying one with a cracked screen or so from eBay, just in case you can't figure out where to get a complete mainboard from...

I've considered that, but than I have the risk of having a bad motherboard as well. I'd prefer to get a new one as a replacement part. I did that in the past with the D-PAD controller and had success with it. Can't find a motherboard anywhere thou... Any ideas? Help!!
Motherboard
Hey there.. I too want a new motherboard.. I dropped my 8525 and the speaker, left side of the keypad and SD card slot stopped functioning. I took off the cover and reconnected the speaker..even lifted the MB off..But still with the same problem except that the speaker works and that the Unit gets very hot near the SD slot...I surfed and surfed without any finds of a MB..
So any ways broke out the Wizard for awhile , dug deep down and just bought a Kaiser ( the real one from HTC ).....
So any else have any clue at all on how to get a Hermes MB?...

i'm iterested too
I am in a different position. I NOW HATE THESE UNITS LIKE POISON
I have three 8225s which I am getting really sick of constantly reflashing and finding out that something doesnt work, whatever it is.
Sometimes it is the whole screen going white eight times our of ten boots, sometimes NO GSM, sometimes it flashes properly and runs properly, starts up with all GSM numbers showing correctly and then goes into its configuration cycle only to end up with NO GSM on reboot or some kind of freeze.
I want to know where I can get rid of these things: I am in New York. Is the only place to try them on ebay? Might involve a considerable (not worthwhile) learning curve?
Has anyone had any luck contacting other flashers on craigslist? Or is there a place on this forum where I can get rid of them for a reasonable price?
I also have a few Wizards (as well as a working Wizard G4 main board) and a Blue Angel which has NEVER worked properly in the 4 years since I Have had it. However with persistence and playing around while doing other things (like watching TV), I DO have it finally working properly on all functions and have given it to my offspring. The sheer amount of playing around with it to get it working properly has convinced me that it definitely wont be worthwhile trying to get the Hermes' to work!
Oh and I forgot to mention.....

In addition to all this, I use most regulatly a Wing. A few years ago I broke the screen and HTC sent me a new chassis for whatever reason. When I switched screens, the unit with the slightly broken screeen worked, it just had a chip like break at the top corner. I could still use it. Recently I put the battery back in and hey presto! it now doesnt work at all
So what happened to the working one? The battery pins on it stopped 'pinging' today, which I take to mean that the connections no longer work. The unit suddenly stopped working on putting the battery back in it.
So who needs a few Wing chassis as well??

Heading should be whole load of units, mostly working, to get shot of.

Help me get an antique xda going

Hello, I will start by saying despite my aged condition i have only recently (in the last week) been seduced to the ownership of any sort of mobile phone. I have one that works fine. But in my investigations a friend offered and gave me a XDA exec (O2) mainly to stop me moaning about the silly way text messages are entered with out a Qwerty keyboard. Unfortunately the phone seem to be dead. Or at least in a coma (as it has some life signs).
The symptoms are, White screen, not much else, odd times my eight year old got the keyboard lights on and thats about it, plain white screen. I have investigated the net for answers and tried. Reset (power, back light and reset), taking out battery and replacing, taking out the battery over night, i investigated 02's web site which i found of very little help, the user manual there etc presupposes some sort of information on the screen ! I seized on the idea that a Rom Upgrade might help but all links to that i have found are dead.
I installed Activcync to my PC and the phone syncs up allowing me to see that there is indeed things on it the windows files etc. Which gave me hope that it isn't totally dead.
So any suggestions? can i do anything with this impressive looking paperweight?
Hi,
From your description I would say you have a hardware fault regarding your screen.
Either the cable is broken, not correctly connected or the LCD itself has a defect.
What let's me conclude that is:
- you say you will get a white screen: this means the backlight is working
- you say ActiveSync will recognize the phone and you can browse its contents: this means that the device is working (except for the screen) and that it is not like stuck in the bootloader, or so
- you say your daughter managed to get the keyboard lights on: this means they are working... this, by the way, only happens when the device is in the dark and thats probably why you did not manage to do it yourself
From now, your options are:
- sell the device as broken and get up to 100 Euro on eBay for it
- buy a working Universal at eBay, at prices starting at 140 Euro (better condition will cost more)
or
- get the PDF that explains how to disassemble the device
- check if all cables are properly connected
- check if there is something you can (and know howto) repair
and eventualy
- buy a new display, which will cost 100 Euro or more
So to tell the truth, the easiest option is to actually sell the phone as broken and get a second hand one, which is not broken...
Or get a second hand one (not broken) and keep yours for spare parts.
Cheers,
vma
ah thank you for the step by step reasoning there, i have to agree...
I don't want to sell it, it was given to me and if i cant get it going i'd rather pass it on in the same way.
I will look for the pdf and see if i can confidently have a look inside... many thanks.
A small investigation inside reveals no obviously loose cabled etc.. Oh well!
again many thanks.
I've passed it on to someone who is more electronically knowledgeable than me, i hope he can get it going and use it...

G1 Has Lines on the Screen -Searched already

Hey guys i searched these forums and i searched on google, couldn't find any information. I dropped my phone today from less than 1 foot and it turned off and when i tried turning it on my entire screen was white except for the top which had black lines and you could tell the phone was responsive because of the way the lines moved. What do you guys suggest i do? I can't figure out a way to make my screen work normally.
Your screen is broken, simple as that. Time to get a replacement!
Where exactly do i get one? And what is the part called which i need to replace? My phone doesnt even barely have scratches and my screen stopped working -.-. I hate my life.

Ummm... T-mobile would be a great place to start... Just tell them it stopped working. Unless you bought it off warranty or without insurance, then you can buy it or any part for it where ever you can find it.
Yeah, no warrenty on it. What is the part called though i have no idea what the screen part is called so i can order the part.
bump. anyone?
You might need an LCD replacement part for the G1 if it is damaged... Other possibles could be the ribbon cable somehow got dislodged/damaged so you're not getting an image. Can you still make calls from it?
Yes it receives calls, its just the screen. would this be the replacement? http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-LCD-Screen-...ries?hash=item43994d9bc5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

broken screen replacement

Ok, I have done some searching and I am still not sure of the answer to my question.
I have a HERM 100. I broke the screen on accident, but it was having the WSOD problem anyway. I still love the phone and I am trying to fix it.
First question is I have the screen with the P/N HTC60H00037-01M. I have looked several places on ebay, and the only ones I can find selling this exact screen are almost 2 times as expensive. Most if not all the others are saying this screen will work HTC60H00037-00M
Here are the links
The cheaper one with -00M on the end in one of the pictures.
The more expensive one with the EXACT same number as my screen in the pic.
Will the cheaper one work in my phone or is there a real difference between the two screens.
Oh, and does anyone know the best way to get a chip reflowed? I have been watching and reading the WSOD thread, and the only option that seems to fix the problem permanently. I am not able to do this myself I don't think, but if anyone has a surefire way to do this at home I am willing to listen, I just want my favorite phone back.

Well at least they are both made by Toppoly and that is the crucial thing because different manufacturers use different digitizer circuits:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3372952&postcount=4
NB - This link is for reference only it was written for another Hermes owner who had bought a Hitachi part.
So I think you should be ok with the cheaper one - but I wouldn't put a 100% guarantee on that. (My understanding is that it should be ok though).
Obviously buy from a company that has put in writing that it works ok - just in case a return is needed.
Regarding reflowing the chip. You can experiment with an oven (though I wouldn't like to guess the temp or length of time) - and remove the plastic layer from the keys side. To be honest though, I'd look for a part on ebay or a device being parted out here - because if you try the oven method, you'll probably need a new part anyway
Mike
Ok, I got the cheaper one, and put the phone together. I am having a small problem. I think it is related to the WSOD issue now. After replacing it I put the phone together and it was working but the screen was very white. There were colors and objects on it but they were very hard to see, you had to look from an angle. After charging it a while and working with it (and thinking I screwed up again) I got the screen to work with some pressure on the right side. I am thinking that is the connection for the screen that you almost bend backwards. I am going to re examine that, and look locally for someone who will reflow my chip. This must be the problem.
At first I was not sure but now I have finally gotten a few minutes of non WSOD use out of it, so indeed the cheaper one WILL work.
Again, thanks mike, you are the man. I am certain I can find a dunked 8525 that will allow me to get my WSOD issue fixed.
-to sum up, the cheaper screen WILL work! good times.

Raplacement for I/O button on top

Once upon a time when I woke up with a bad mood, I threw my phone away to stop the alarm.. Since that moment my I/O button which is on top of the phone (the one you switch the LCD's blacklight on and off) is hard to push.
The 'clicking-system' is (I think) dented in, and from the surface it actually looks like that too. It still works though, but you have to press really hard.
I asked at the local phone shop what my invoice would look like if I have it repaired by them and I found out it would be better to do it myself.
The problem is that although all the parts which are available on internet, this button is really hard to get. I can;t even find it on eBay (maybe I just search the wrong way).
Does anyone know where to get this, and if it hard to solder it (if needed)?
I am located in The Netherlands, so I prefer something that SHIPS to NL.
I found this (https://www.gsm4world.us/htc-touch-...lex-cable-lcd-key-ear-repair-d-02961_405.html) but I don't know if it will do the job.
Thank in advance guys!
Does anyone know?
gsm4world.us has almost full line of parts for the fuze/tp
Sorry I can't be of more use, but some searching on eBay will show that you can get the same part as on GSM4World a bit cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-TOUCH-PRO...Accessories?hash=item1c0ce8e08a#ht_2173wt_939
Edit: Actually, I'm not convinced that the part you suggested is the one you need. I think you should hold off buying anything until someone can tell you for certain which is best.
