I've tried 'Webcamera Plus' from Ateksoft to try out the security cam functionality and it seems to work quite well, not sure how good it is with MSN e.t.c, but there is a demo available.

There are a few threads here on it too.

thanks for the reply digital.diablo, but correct me if i am wrong, it appears that the webcam plus software transforms the camera function on ur phone (such as the htc x7500) into a webcam that can use for your PC, and not a webcam that can be used of the phone it self to have a live video conference.
is that right? if so, any other ideas?
thanx
Ahh, sorry, misunderstood what you were after. Yeah, Webcamplus is simply a way of using the onboard camera in your gadget as a webcam, so you could use it to video conference from your pc.
Not sure about your conferencing from the PDA though I'm afraid. Good luck on your quest!

thank you bilalperwaiz.
i'll think about it. i doubt my friends would be interested to install a new software just so i can use my video viewers. maybe there is a messenger service that connects to all messenger services and has the software support to video calls.
if anyone knows of such a software do share the info

YouTube performance - question

I've noticed when I am playing YouTube video's over WiFI (settings on high quality) that the first, let's say 30-45 seconds, the frame rate occasionally drops, but after that the rest of the video runs smooth.
Anyone any ideas what could be the problem ? Seems to me like some buffering issue.

Is this via the YouTube app or via Opera?
Petrov.
It's via the YouTube proggie...I haven't tested through Opera yet. I didn't even know that would work(?)

Yeah, I don't think it does...
Mine also stutters a bit through the early part of a track using the Opera app, I think it just takes a bit of time to properly buffer the video?

mine used to - until I applied the cache tweaks.
And now it doesn't

Can you let us know which ones please? I've been reluctant to trying anything "performance" related because most of the tweaks I've read about were for the Diamond or the Touch Pro and not optimised for the HD.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Check out the Blackstone wiki sticky at the top of the forum page - you'll see one of the tweaks is an SD card tune up cab which is apparently a must-do. Secondly, you'll see some cache settings in the wiki which you can implement through the windows mobile registry. To do this, you'll need a registry editor (I use Schap's registry editor 0.9b).
Good luck!
Petrov.
I went through the settings in this thread-> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448707
make sure you read it all though!
(it's a speed vs stability issue - personally I've had no stability issues with the suggested settings, but...)

it's more to do with playing videos which you have stored on your SD card than with YouTube - but you're likely to need it anyway
Link to the cab is on page 1, but you need to read the whole thread to understand how to get the very best performance when playing a (stored) video.
Very good read, most worthwhile

For example: 7 mins of X-men 3
I only applied the SD tweak which worked great with playing videos on my card. It didn't have an impact on YouTube video's however.
But my YouTube video's look splendid as they are already, I compared it a few times to videoplaying on the iPhone, both normal movies on the card and youtube videos, but the HD wins out massively at the video aspect.
Hey,
Ist there any solution to fix this Problem?
I have it myself (Rom: Dutty v2.0)
Only when the video has loaded completly it plays very smooth....

TCPMP .81

Anybody gotten TCPMP .81 to work? Mine keeps crashing. .72RC1 works much faster than CorePlayer 1.25 for me, and I'm thinking .81 might be even better. .72RC1 won't do wmv or wma for me, or mpeg 2.
Link to post with .81: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2968519&postcount=386
Actually, I got neither to work on my Blackstone. .72 and .81 both just give me the crash.txt error message on startup.
Pretty frustrating, because the standard media player won't play jack sh*t.
Anybody else has problems installing TCPMP on his Blackstone?
Yes, you have to use the .72rc2 copy on the diamond forums. It's been compiled to work on the HTCs. I was hoping someone was going to compile the .81 version as well.
Found it, thanks!
Finally got the darn thing to play something
Would be nice to post the link (nt)

Hi!
I am interested in it too!
Did a search here and via Google and found a download link,
but there was no file to download !
I have wmadecoder.dll and wmvdecoder.dll and tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.exe from my TyTn II days...
Ofiaich
I think they are talking about this build.

Wikipedia?

Does anyone know of an application that allows one to use Wikipedia on the HD2, it doesn't have to be offline viewing. I'm just looking for a faster way to access Wikipedia without loading up a browser. If someone could supply a .CAB file of the application, that would be superb.
I am also looking for a decent Wikipedia application, similar to Wikipanion on iPhone. Can anyone recommend one ? Or may be develop ? )))

I downloaded both english and italian wikipedia dumps, and the only thing stopping me from creating an mdict version is that there are no pre-made tools to do it under my server's linux OS, and I don't want to keep my windows workstation turned on overnight.
Plus, it's a pity but virtualbox crashes my ubuntu server so virtualizing xp is not a feasible way of doing things...
