Hi,
This is probably a silly question, but how do I release the SD card from my MDA Pro? I can get the mini SD card out of the converter no problem, but hooking my nail into the little indentation, but I can't get the SD card converter which came fitted out. I thought you pushed them in to release the catch, but it doesn't seem to release it. Is my unit faulty or am I just being dumb?
Thanks,
Dan

No you are right, you are supposed to push the SD Card in, then you will notice that it would now pop out allowing you to pull it out of the slot.
Thanks for replying. What a pain getting it collected and returned, and after I'd just installed all my software. ARHGHHHHH

That is the reason why I am staying away from the SD Mini Cards. I was afraid about the problem you described when the adaptor suddenly won't release itself from the slot.

That is what it came with from T-Mobile UK. Only got the unit this morning...
lucky...
I only got a dummy with mine from O2
You don't get a memory card with O2?
Gah, I've just had a frank exchange of views with t-mobile because they won't authorise an exchange unless I take the phone in to a shop so that some half wit phone salesman can verify that it is in fact shagged. So I said they could have the whole unit back as I'm not wasting my time on them any longer. So the plan was to go to o2 and get the much sexier looking black unit.
and the sexy blue keyboard backlight

Hi
Am I just lucky or did everyone get one of these?? I never saw it advertised as a part of the package. It was in the same compartment as the USB cable and PSU.
512MB miniSD card and an adapter so you can shove it into an SD slot (both Sandisk)
Nigel
Nah no such luck for me - O2 aren't including anything with theirs that I could find.
Did stick my 1gig card in and was happily listening to some tunes though when it cut out twice - read up that it might be the card needing reformatted so I've done that and need to monitor how well it works.
I also got on with my mda's too, t-mobile customer services said it was to address the low storage concerns with the devices, to avoid a large amount of returns.
Nothing with the M5000 tho, but lukily I had a 1GB from XDA
Expensive way to do it. MiniSD+Adapter as opposed to just sending an SD card!! I shall ebay it - got a gig already!
Nigel
I was going to ebay mine, but im glad i didnt as i had to send my mda back, but maybe they wouldnt mind if it wasnt there on return of a fault.
Maybe worth keeping for a few weeks till your sure the device is ok.
Got 512mb with each of 2 T-Mob MDA Pro's, but nothing with my O2 Exec.
Does anyone know the biggest sized memory card you can put in the XDA Mini S?
I currently have a 2gb mini sd card in it - I saw you can buy 4 and 8gb cards - anyone know?
Much appreciated and thanx in advance
Some 4gb cards will work, but you have to make sure they are not the ones that are high compacity cause they are formated differently. The 8gb ones will probably not work at all. There should be a thread around here somewhere that has a list of 4gb cards that will work.

I read on the first link that there is a hack for the Treo 680 which works for the Treo 750 that allows one to use SDHC. How does a product which is supposed to be incompatible with a newer technology, become compatible? Can the same basic principle found in this driver be applied to WM5 devices such as the Wizard? Is it something in the hardware for the Treo only?
memory card query.
i bought a 2gb kingston card for my mini s 5 weeks ago and had no probs at all until today, i checked my mini this morning and it says there is no card installed, i checked the card in a friends mini and in a nokia and none recognized it used my mates card and my mini picked it up instantly. did my xda kill the card? i did take the card out last night twice while i was putting some data on to my friends mini, and i never checked it after id put it back in mine last night.
i guess what im asking is do you think if was user error or a bad card? as i want to order a new one asap, and dont wish to order the same make of card if it is due to the cards incompatabilaty with the mini. however if it is due to me being a ham fisted fool, il order the same, thanks in advance for your help on this
More than likely your cards not bad, it just lost it's format. The easiest way to fix it is to put it in a card reader and reformat it again. I have a 4 Gb card and I pretty much have to do that on a regular basis and when it decides to lose it's format my wizard doesn't see it at all either.

if it is broken, don't kingston do a lifetime guarantee? and if they do you don't have to buy a new one, just get it replaced
Ok... I'm not so sure If i was supposed to make a new thread or reply to an old one... but If you replaced your MicroSD card, then what kind did you replace the 16gb card with? I put in an older 8GB C4 card and my phone is not working as well as before. It is not responding during sync and it opens applications a bit slower. Every time, after about 5 minutes into the sync operation, it stops responding and I have to reconnect it to my computer, and I fear that it is overcharging the battery.
So just curious, what brand, model (if you have it), size, and class, are you using currently?
SD Cards
Hi Kuree,
The first time I replaced my SD i used a Lexar 16GB Micro SDHC (it has a 4 in a cirlce on it as well). This one worked perfectly, syncing and there were no slow downs what so ever.
The card i have in my surround now is Also a 16GB MicroSDHC (with a 2 circled on it) this card also works perfectly. i'm not sure on the brand name as this one doesn't say it but I'm pretty sure it was a Lexar Mobile version.
I've only used 16GB cards so i can't exactly tell you if the 8GB card is the root of your issues.
Hopefully this helps you out!
If you have any more questions let me know and I'll see if i can answer them.
Take care,
Coockoo
problems....
I guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread. I'm having issues with upgrading to 32g... after hard resetting the phone and setting up time, the phone just gets stucked in "installing apps". It just seats there.
Any suggestions or things I should try??...
Any help will be highly appreciated...
thanks

They told me (were I bought this) that this card should work.
Now I can't even read or format the SD card....
Thanks!!

I didn't even know the surround had a memory card slot, where is it?
Any chance to revive the "adata" card?. I would really hate to trash 26 bucks...
To LKMR, search youtube, there is a nice tutorial on how to expand the memory of the phone.

In this video how to disassemble, locate, and swap out the microSD card in an HTC Surround Windows Phone 7 on AT&T. Please note that undertaking this project will most certainly void your handset's warranty.

I used a Sandisk Class 4 32GB. No problems at all... WELL worth the price and effort. They are also VERY cheap if you keep an eye on Deal a Day. I've bought 4 from there so far, the last was like $20.

I have two 2gb micro sd cards and recently purchased a 16gb micro sdhc. They all read fine in my a500, but the 16gb gets fire hot after just a short time (~60 secs) and the two 2gb cards keep at a nice temp. Is this just a bad card or an issue with my tab? Any ideas?

That's odd, they shouldn't get more than luke warm at worst. Could well be a short circuit in the card. If possible go and try another similar one or try the card in another device and see if the problem persists.
If it's an option, return the 16 for an exchange and test the new one before you leave the store. What brand is it?

I purchased it from walmart, so ill see what they say at customer service about checking it before i leave.
Its made by sandisk.
Worst case take your tablet with you and just test it in the car after you buy it. Does the same thing, walk back in and exchange it. Sandisk is a quality brand, so if you get 2 in a row doing it it's bad luck. Maybe try a different Wal-Mart or a PNY card.
It IS possible - I have a class 10 here that gets hot when i transfer a large number of files (or 1 big file) to it.
It's doing that at about 44Mb / sec, maybe it's just that the speed, like with a CPU, is causing the heat build up??

No sadly, i just tested it again, i rebooted my tab and put the card in, within 15-20sec i pulled it out and cou;d barely touch it. Im taking it back this morning so ill let everyone know what happens
yeah, that's waay to hot - mine gets warm, not that hot!
Something is wrong
I use my MicroSD slot on my a500 often - it never gets anything more then slightly warm to the touch. Would consider returning your a500 if possible - assuming you have tested a few diff brands/sources of MicroSD card.
I returned it with no problem, I bought a pny this time, little more expensive but so far I haven't had any problems, it's at a normal unnoticeable temp
wan the card working in that state..?

I thought it was... i saved a picture on it and removed it, put it in my phone, which gave me an error that it was unreadable, then i tried it in the tab again and it was empty, so no. But my new one works great, ive checked it a few times today and it hasnt been hot at all. This one im using now is a class 4

It's possible in had some sort of short or shunt inside - you might have found that you would not be able to put a full 16G or whatever on it. (like one of the fake ones off EBay..)
Glad to hear you got it all fixed though.

I just had one of the chinese fakes sent to me from this Finnish EBay-like site, though the seller himself didn't know either that they were fakes. I actually could copy as much stuff on the card as I wanted, but only the first 1 Gigabytes was actually working; the firmware on it had been modified to just update the FAT32 header but ignore all the data Neat trick and would easily fool anyone less-knowledgeable.

Yea, the chinks are crafty these days. You'd think for all the work they gotta do to hack and make the card look like 16GB they'd just make a real damn 16GB card.

You gotta think side-ways - with cheap 8/16/32 gig cards out now, they probably have ****-loads of 1/2/4 gig cards sitting around.
It's only a minor bios or spd module flash to make it think it's 8 or 16 Gig, then they sell is as such.
Gets rid of all the wasted 1/2/4 gig cards AND makes them money!
I'm having an issue with my SanDisk SD on my Note 4. Whenever I put music on, it only shows some of it and i've tried everything possible to fix it. Anyone know something I dont? Thanks.

I'm sure lots of people know something you don't.... Anyway back to the matter in hand, is this a new SD card ? If it is did you buy it cheap on ebay? Lots of fake cards which appear to be say 32GB but are in fact something like 2GB. If you attach the card to your computer can you see and access all the files ok?
Yea i did buy of ebay:laugh: all my files do show up but just won't play and it does say 64gb on the computer. I paid about £15 for it but i broke the first one and asked for a replacement. The guy however sent me a new card as well as issue a refund. Not sure why. He must have got confused.

Problem solved i reckon, there's no way you could get a legit Sandisk 64gb card for £15. Follow the instructions from here http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/-fake-usb-flash-memory-drives and report back.
Yea you are probably right. Im just gonna buy a new one since i got that SD card free anyway. Thanks.

Buy one from Amazon (not a third party seller), that way you can be sure it is what it says it is.
Went into a gaming store and got a 32 gb.
