Hello,
i've the same problem and I've read that you'll get this error if you have deleted your "Temp"-folder. That was exactly what I'd done before to get more space...
Please, can someone mail his Temp-folder? I'll try it out if it can fix this and if not I will have to hard reset :-(

I had this problem also. For two weeks now I've been searching and reading every forum out there. There is NO Answer to fixing, only a Hard Reset. I finally did it today. Now all is swell.

problem with syncronizing !

has this error whenever i try to sync the 2nd time ...
have to restart and resync again
I've the same problem. It was all well until yesterday. My case is even worse than you. The error message appear every time and xda II disconnects itself. I can do any activesync right now.
Have tried soft reset, delete and recreate partnership. Don't really want to hard reset unless I have no choice.
I have found out that my problem was caused by installing a trial version of the CEBook Reader 3.5.
What I have done is restore from Xcopy, this copy was done before installing the software above, which works fine. Once I install the software, the problem comes back.
So be careful !
seems its a problem of networking.. If you are using a Proxy server, then specify that in your MS outlook settings. :?
i still cant figure out what is my problem ...

HELP: Re-Installing VBScipt on a Vario

All Games / Apps using Visual Basic seem to have stopped working.
Shortcuts to *.vb links get the error:
"There is no application associated with ...... Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."
Other files get the error:
Error : 0x80040154
(Cannot open VBScript)
Is there anyway I can reinstall the Visual Basic runtimes on my Vario without doing a full factory reset.
Logic says there must be a way.
I do not want to do a reset and lose all saved texts, MMS, contacts and all the software I have installed.
Appologies if this post is in the wrong place or has been asked before.

well, I have more or less the same problem, there seems to be a problem with the installation of the eVb runtime on WM5, even thouhg I succeeded once...But the webmaster of http://www.omnisoft.com seems to have found a way of bypassing these limitations, I haven't found the time to test his solution yet. Let's say that the firts to try lets the other one know how it worked out.
Any idea how they bypassed these limitations or how I can get hold of them.
Anyone else got any links / guides to this problem.
I have two Varios and one MDA Compact to fix this problem on so far and I really dont want to do a hard reset.
It seems that the main problem is not the scripting engine itself which installs just fine. It has to do with the various ActiveX controls (MSCE*.dll) that are not registered when you install the runtime, but are requested by most apps to function properly. Basically, the post on omnisoft.com explains what entries you have to enter manually in the registry to register these controls.
By the way, what setup did you use to install the runtime?
I used the W2003
VBScript just stoped working inc games/apps I downloaded + minor apps I wrote with Forward Pass.
I did not install the runtime, it was in ROM.
That is why I may have to do a hard reset.
Is there any link to the post on omnisoft.com?
Doesn't Microsoft have any VB runtime install that will fix this? It is their OS.

http link - odd

I've been using my Vario II for a good 4/5 months and I have been very happy with it so far.
A problem started to appear over the past couple of days: in an email message or when reading a rss feed on Newsgator, when clicking a http link (to open the browser) I get an error message, as follows:
"the file http://www. etc cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file"
What's this? I had no problem before clicking on a link to visit a webpage. I thought I had bugged the device, so I hard reset the phone and reinstalled everything. But the problem persists -and it was not there 1 week ago.
The only app I installed recently is the sim unlock (and the upgrade of the radio to 1.16.00 as per pof's instriuctions.)
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Email Hotfix - Windows Mobile 6.1 Hot Fix for Sending POP and IMAP E-mail

Hi all,
I had some problems sending email from my Polaris with Google IMAP account.
I sent an email and found that it never passes leaves my outbox and remains there indefinitely.
I found a hotfix for windows mobile which pretty much defines the problem and seems to solve it:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Hot Fix for Sending POP and IMAP E-mail
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d9d71b2e-d2dd-44f2-86e5-1e53aad7fb7a&displaylang=en&tm
I tried to install it but i get the following error message: "this update cannot be installed on this version of Windows Mobile. Current 6.0 AKU .1.5.0 Build 19214 Platform 2"
I remember this can be "triked" when I installed some bluetoot and Camera hotfixes released by HTC. Now I tried again changing the AKU registry with .0.4.5 under HKLM\System\Versions\Aku
But this time that does not seem to be enough.
I still get the following error with the new (changed AKU value): This update cannot be installed on this version of Window Mobile. Current 6.0 AKU 0.4.5.0 Build 19214 Platform 2"
Do you have any idea on how to solve it?
Thank you!!!
Juan MAnuel
U don´t need on Windows mobile 6.0 apply this update...
Set correctly google mail, this update doesn´t solve your problem...

Thanks for your answer, actually my OS is Windows Mobile 6.1 from PDAVIET. but it is shown as 6.0. may be that is the reason why this plugin is rejected.
Any other hint?
Thanks!

OK, you wrote Win 6.0... For me works good this SMTP fix - try it
Thanks for the answer and the file.
This one installed smoothly.
Email has been running fine since 6 hours ago.
I'll keep using it for a couple of days and then post the result.
Best Regards,
JM
You are welcome
Hi again.
After installation everything went ok for more than 2 days. But later, it showed the same behaviour "could not connect to SMTP server"...
I found under "Program Files" a folder named "TnMMailFix" with a text file in it only showing TnMMailFix. Does it have any functionality, did I missed to configure something else?
Thanks Again for your help.
Regards,
JM
I have been dealing with imap issue for days now. I have two gmail accounts on my tilt and both has stopped working all of a sudden. I keep getting "Can not connect to incoming server". It seems to get stuck on receiving headers. Weird thing is, some of the mail comes through eventually. I have checked my settings over and over again and they are perfect. I have applied the windows hotfix for 6.1 but still no good. I have even applied the home brew version that came out prior to it and still no good. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
hi,
You can try to install the solution in post #4 from Petulinek.
After installation I modified the registry HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings\Operator and change the text in OutgoingServer to your smtp server...
This has worked for me...
Regards,
JM
Actually I found a hotfix directly from Microsoft. In some customized ROMS (my case) it does not install because of different AKU. I managed to change this in the registry: HKLM\System\Versions\Aku, change the value to .1.0.2 and that will allow the hotfix to be installed.
I tried this trick today, and will track for how long I'm able to send email with my Gmail account.
Link to MS hotfix

JM
I had this exact issue over Christmas and New Year, what I finally did to fix the issue was remove my e-mail addresses and add them again. Every thing works now!
Believe me, you will do it at least 03 times/week

Attachments with Exchange E-Mail

Have searched the Diamond Forum extensively, but not found mention of this problem.
My Exchange E-Mail from WM6.1 refuses to download (or at least open) attachments. This happens with .doc .docx .pdf .xls .xlsx attachments. These attachments open without a problem, when I use another two e-mail accounts using imap, the problem only occurs when synchronising with my Exchange Server.
It looks as if the attachment is being downloaded, but it doesn't then open. I have posted this on the Vodafone Forum (post 50578 and update 135471), and one other person reported the same problem, but no solutions were forthcoming. I have just installed the latest ROM, without effect.
Any suggestions ?
Rom Version : 1.97.161.4 WW
Rom Date : 10/26/08
Radio version : 1.08.25.08
Protocol version 52.44.25.24U
Does tapping and holding on the attachment and hitting "Save as..." work?
If the above suggestion does not work then there could be an issues with your provider
Thanks for the suggestion but Save As does nothing.
If I tap the attachemnt, a green arrow appears next to it, and the "Downloading..." message appears at the bottom of the screen, but when it finishes, the Attachment reverts to a blank grey icon next to the filename, rather than the icon representing the application.
This leads me to believe the device downloads the attachment, but for some reason it is not being saved, or the linked program is not being invoked. In \Internal Storage\Inbox.mst29991181.1156583424\Mail Attachments, I can see several zero size *.att files
The provider Vodafone say this is not a widely reported problem, but at least one other User on their Forum has reported it.
Can you not contact the exchange admin and ask to see the error log? is it a work or hosted exchange server(2003 or 2007)?
How about a hard reset? extreme you might say but can help.

Sounds like an exchange server problem. You should contact your exchange admin to see if they can change any policies related to that.
Thanks for the responses.
I AM The Exchange Adminstrator ! I don't think the problem lies there, as e-mail sent to my previous PDA (Vodafone 1605),and e-mails still sent to one of my colleagues 1605 don't demonstrate the same problem. The problem is only rpesent on the Diamond.
I have also tried several hard resets, together with a ROM Flash Updates, to no avail.

Process of elimination
As you tried hard resets and other roms it might be a network issue?
Why not try using a trial on 4smartphone.com (14 days free) and if that works then you no its not the device.
Have you even tried a different SIM card?
What version of Exchange are you running? 2k7 can control the size and amount of mail you're retrieving via EAS policy, plus if you can download attachments or not.
Then again, since you're ok with EAS on a tytn, then it must be the phone or network. Have you tried swapping SIMs to eliminate the possibility of content filtering on the network side?
I've never had any trouble with EAS and I've tried plenty of other ROMs, and I'm the vodafone network also - you tried any of the newer custom ROMs to eliminate that?
We are running SBS2003 Premium SP2, and Exchange Reports Version 6.5.7638.1
I have tried the SIM from the TyTn that downloads ok in that PDA, it doesn't in the Diamond.
I have the latest official ROM from the Vodafone website, don't really want to upgrade with unofficial ROM's in case I brick the phone.
Just as an update, by watching carefully as the phone tries to collect the Attachment, the initial message "Downloading..." is temporarily followed by "Loading Message ...", which quickly dissappears, and the logo against the attachment changes back from the green download arrow to the grey logo.

I don't have that ticked and I still get attachments - i think this option is for downloading the file instead of clicking on it later.
@pcibob
I know some Vodafone ROMS are buggy. for example my friend has an X1 for which he uses M$ Live - MSN etc. if he installs TomTom the the MSN live stops working - how wierd is that.
Take the blunge and customise your ROM it is really stright forward, this may help.
It doesn't matter if this is ticked or not (I have tried both). I understand this tick means that the attachment will be dowloaded WITH the mail, whilst if it is unticked it should be able to download the Attachment AFTER the mail, if required. Both don't work !

Was asking as I had the same problem with another device and only work around I found was to have it unticked, tap onto attatchment to download, go to comm manager turn flight mode on and off and it would download, strange but it worked. not sure would do the same for you, sorry if it doesnt

Thanks for the suggestion, but tried it with no joy.
I am seriously considering updating the ROM with a non Vodafone version. Any suggestions as to which ROM to try ? I would like to hear from other Vodafone Users if this has caused them any problems. I am a bit nervous about bricking the phone.

I would go for this option.
There is plenty of help here if you need it.
I have flashed at least 15 diamonds fro my work and countless other devices. Now if I can do it .
1) install Olipro Hard-spl.1.93 Download and extract , click on RUU - follow instructions - when confirmed an application wants to run on your device. (click YES to allow) this process takes a few MINS and the screen goes blank for a while. Do not touch device until the RUU states finished (the phone should restart anyway)
2) if you wish to confirm the installation of Hard-SPL the hold down the down-arrow volume key during reset or start-up process, you should be presented with a RGB and white screen with
"DIAM100"
"SPL_1.93. Olinex
(thats Olipro and Cmonex-combined forum users)
Thats confirmation enough.
3) restart device again. and pick a ROM (Recommendation from me would be this Shaks1979 ROM (download and extract - Run RUU) similar to step one.
4) restart your phone and enjoy life without the vodafone poop. hopefully you exchange will work.
4a) its very easy to revert back to standard stuff
Take the plunge.........

You are tempting me.
One final question. Will the Vodafone Sat-Nav reload and work ? I have it in a CAB file, but am unsure if it needs to 'see' the Vodafone ROM to work. Has anyone else installed a new ROM, then put their Vodafone Sat-Nav back on successfully?
The main reason I bought the Diamond is that it converged the things I need most i.e phone, Sat-Nav, PDA and camera.
Thanks for the help
