Treo 750 Phone: Custom App or Skin - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I have searched through both XDA-Developers Forums and HowardForums and I could not find the answer to this question: Is the Treo 750 Phone Application a custom application or just a custom skin?
If so, has anyone stripped this from the ROM? How could I install this onto my 8525/TyTn?
Thanks!

it's a custom app, not a skin.
i'm not aware of anyone extracting it though I suppose it's possible (I think part of it is just dialer.exe)

ROMs available from the FTP site attached to this forum. You need to do a bit of digging and use the search function.
thank you very much! i will look for it
I wouldn't recommend to flash the entire ROM just to get a different skin. If the flashing goes wrong, T-mobile will not provide any help (guarantee wise). It's not worth the risk.
I'm not the big expert here, but there must be a way to change it without flashing a new rom...
Most parts of the skins (nearly all?) are bitmaps in the windows directory. Store new ones and your Magician gets a new look. A problem could be that in the windows directory RAM and ROM are merged. A ROM file can not be erased but you can store a file under the same name in RAM. The original file in ROM will not be visible and used anymore as long as the file in RAM exists.
In my Magician the brandings are installed in RAM (from the extendedROM), so I can replace them. If I just delete them I get the original skins from MS stored in ROM.
If you have the IntelliDialer you have to notice that it is installed in RAM (from the extendedROM) so only deleting its files does not work (there are no others).
I do not know how O2 integrates its skins but I think they will use the same way as t-mobile so taking O2s (bitmap) files and copy them to your device should work. (Make a backup before to be save)
Hope that hepls a little bit
Joe
If you haven't already fixed your problem, here is the O2 splashcreen CAB.
Just copy it to your my documents and run it from there.
That removes the T-Mobile startup screen.
Then you can just do a search on these forums for some skins for the intellidialler and intellipad. I have a nice Apple based one that I found in a post on these forums.

O2 PHONE DIALER SKIN???

Anyone have a cab for the O2 xda exec phone skin? I had that rom on my xda and upgraded to the new TMO Dutch rom and the phone skin really sucks bad, I loved the O2 one - Can anyone help me out???
I bet alot of people would switch to this one from the tmo one. Again thanks and this site is great. FISH
Does anyone have the bmp files for the O2 phone dialer??? I know how to upgrade it but I do not know how to extract them from an old ROM.
So does anyone know how to extract files like the ".bmp" icons or images from a ROM that is not installed on teh phone?
Here you go.
V
Universal's extended rom. You want the file signed_UNI_o2AUI4_build76.CAB for the skin.

You guys ROCK!!! Thanks for the quick response to you V and to Buzz for the PM help. FISH
I would like that skin too..but after running the first CAB file my dialer screen is somewhat..corrupted.. Was wondering if there's a way to restore it or any instructions on how to use these files?
namura: did you run the wizard version, or the universal one?
V
I ran the first one..judging from the outcome..I guess it's the Wizard's one..
I ran this CAB file:
PhoneLight_Skin_O2_WWE_1005.CAB
Hi Namura, my apologies, I clearly confused by posting both the wizard and the universal (although I labelled them in the description section).
Anyway, you want the Universal skin from here:

hi vijay555, no worries about it.. I managed to recover from it though..hehe now using the Orange skin..

Original Camera Cab?

I unlocked my MDA but the new camera app that's on here doesn't let me use flash and has less options than the cab from the official wm5 rom.
Does anybody have the cab file for the original? (2.26 rom i think)
(And I have a mac so i can't use total commander to get the extended rom...)
Me too
I am also looking for the Camera CAB file as well, if anyone knows where to grab it.
I havent been able to find it in the forum anywhere.
Thanks

[REQ] Diamond Dialer in .cab form

Hi guys,
I've been searching for a FULL .cab for the diamond dialer for over an hour without any luck. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough.
I know there are plenty of .cabs with the skins or the slide to answer mods or the phone canvas but can any ROM cookers provide me with ALL the files for the dialer? Doesn't have to have the slide to answer and phone lock canvas. Just need the dialer I can install the rest later.
Reason being is I am running Cloudyfa's latest beta 6.5 ROM and he has removed the dialer from the ROM and is running the stock dialer. Me no like haha! I installed the 'XDA White Slide to Answer V4 (GSM Only).cab' but only to find it doesn't have all the core files the dialer requires and is merely a skin and modification.
This will help others running his ROM also as there have been a number of people to request the dialer and to be honest I am too impatient to wait for a new ROM version.
Thanks in advance.
Turns out I wasn't trying hard enough.
For future reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3087652&postcount=1
You want: Diamond_PhoneCanvas_full_Eng_without_battery_icon.cab (1.61 MB, 1981 views)
I'm a doofus and didn't realise the _FULL_ .cab served my purpose despite the common keywords between my post and the .cab file.

[REQUEST] HD Mini ROM WM 6.5.5 Latest Build

Hi guys.
Has anyone tried or HAS a working ROM for Mini using WM 6.5.5 Latest Build and w/o HTC Sense?
I am trying to find a working cooked ROM if not then I'll make one myself and post it.
I just need to know if there are stock ROMs that'll work for mini.
Here's what I'm looking for:
1. Windows Mobile 6.5.5 latest possible WORKING and STABLE build
2. List of HTC pre-installed software that can be removed
3. Essential software that need to be installed in the Mini (just to make it work)
Thanks.
Use rom kichen alpha provided in this thread to find essential soft to run hd mini, also yuo can find all preinstalled soft there too. Just download Shipped rom, extract, use kitchen to modify it. Simple like 1.2.3
Most of people doesn't use copilot & google maps software. I don't like Manilla's Footprints & Stock pages, maeybe some business people use it, but i don't. And i think is not so big group off business people, who flashes their phones
Yeah... but the problem is that HTC totally removed tmail.exe in their ROM. What I'm looking for is a ROM that's untouched by HTC but'll work for the Mini. Somehow, I find the stock Message soft from MS is more convenient since it also support threaded messages.
HTC has so much to the OS that it has officially screwed it up and making it hog almost 60% of the resources of the phone. I'm going to build a ROM that'll be free for anyone to customize from scratch without the fear that it's not compatible with the Mini.
