Button4 (Hold) - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Does anyone know how to configure a key different from Button4 to manage the "Hold"? i.e. create Button5 (hold)
Thankyou

I too would dearly like to know this - it must just be a reg setting if various programs can map to other Button (Hold) positions.
I found a program called Vito ButtonMapper, but I figure if there's a free way to do it xds-dev will know

How do I remap fonix voicedial button

hi just installed the fonix voice dial anyway was wondering if anyone has figured out how to remap it to a diff hardware button, it seems it has been hard coded to the voicerecord button. I currently have this button mapped for HandyLauncher but each time I press the button VoiceDial Launches... even if I have the Button mapped to Handy Launcher Voicedial is the app that is launched. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Hi,
The way I've done it before is use a registry editor and then search for "voicedial.exe" (without the quotes)
I believe it'll end up in something like:
Local Machine\Software\OEM\VoiceDial (or VoiceCommand?)
Simply delete the VoiceDial (or VoiceCommand?) section it self and that's literally all you need to do.
As always backup your device before editing the Windows Registry etc etc etc.
Works for me though and I've done it about 25 times (I hard reset a lot!)
Thanks a lot
Have the same problem on my Qtek 9090, Fonix has taken over my record button. However, if I press nad hold the button for 1/2 a second, it works fine. Give it a try - much better than messing about with the registry (unless, unlike me, you really know what you're doing!)

Personally I hate it when software forces its preferred options on you when there is no need to. Removing the registry entry for the Fonix voice app turned out to be very easy, and now I have my button back!
I used the free Registry Editor: http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Thanks much Xanth.

Copy/paste under hardware key?

I am using the smartkey program to hold the softkeys to enter startscreen.
Now I am looking for an option or a program to copy/paste and to put it under the message button.
Or does anybody knows a program that only gives the option to cut/copy/paste.
With this my phone would be perfectly tunned.

If the context menu of the program contains copy and paste, you can hold the center key of the 5-ways navigator to popup the context menu.

Hi Water,
Thanks, but not all programs have that option. That's why I like to have a program like that.
Right now i'm using Magicbutton but that doesn't have that function. GSMagic had it but I like Magicbutton better. So now I need the copy/past function.
You can try Xbar which is under the D-Pad. It opens up a screen in which you can select the running task but also shortcuts to programs of your liking and there are shortcuts ready for copy and paste and cut.

You can use PQz to map a hardware key (I use the Windows-key) to CTRL, so that you can use ctrl-c, ctrl-v etc.

I think... just speculating here.. that they are more looking for...
press button - it copies whatever is the active selection
press button again - it pastes whatever is on the clipboard
Not sure, though... ctrl+c / ctrl+v works with the SIP, with that tool it works with the hardware keyboard, and if you're working with the sip - and thus a stylus - you can often just tap-and-hold and choose copy from the context menu.
PHM Keys comes with cut copy paste.
Use a button mapper to do as ZeBoxx says, if it's what you need, and you'll have quick access to said functions.

Thanks,
I'm using PQZ now. With TAB as CTRL. WIN would not work together with smartkey, because hold button 1 is the same hex number as WIN.
But this program is realy good.
My Solution to this...
I have a slightly hacked up copy of PHM Keys (couldn't get it to install on my 8125, so I hacked it off of a WM2003 device) that I'm using to solve this problem.
In my Start Menu I have three icons - "Object Copy", "Object Cut", and "Object Paste" (PHM Keys) so whenever I have something highlighted I click my (smartskey modified) Start Menu soft button, scroll down a slot or three with the 5-way, and select the copy/cut/paste operation I need.
When the KB is open it's even quicker Start-o Start-b Start-j respectively. Another plus is this works in nearly EVERY situation where you can highlight something. Sometimes the other options (context menus, SIP kbds, etc.) don't work everywhere.
Now some may not want to waste three Start Menu slots, but I have Tray launch filled with my apps, still have 4 Start Menu slots available, and all my non-soft buttons are mapped to one app or another, so I'm cool with them.
Plus I have my SIP pop-up KB completely disabled (I hate it's "intrusiveness" and only use the HW KB in landscape mode) so in portrait mode I had *NO* way to copy/cut/paste and had to devise something.
Good Luck

I've updated VJKeyPress to add -cut, -copy, -paste.
On my website.

Start menu key???

Why?Atom can't Program other function to the start menu key??
Try this one: http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Thank you.
using an iPAQ rw6828 can anyone check the registry values for the START MENU Hardware button and post them here? Would like to map one of my soft keys to StartMenu.
Any ATOM users willing to export this part of their registry? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys

WM5 Softkey menu

just want to know, if I want to add some shortcut to menu softkey, How do I do that. For instance, when I use the phone program, there are two softkey menus that are available. The left side is Contacts and the other one is Menu, I want to add my shortcut program inside that menu. Which registry I have to find? Thanks
I don't know which are the registry keys, but there are a couple of programs to do that. Try KeySwop for example.
soft key cpl.
or
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113]
@="anything_you_like'"
"Open"="\"\\Windows\\pocketcm.exe\""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112]
@="anything_you_like"
"Open"="\"\\Windows\\pocketcm.exe\""
if you need TWO instances of wm5newmenu for EACH softkey, you need to hexedit wm5newmenu.exe AND its cpl...then assign each instance(of wn5newmenu.exe) to appropiate softkey.

why you did not check the post bout wm5newmenu before you posted.....

Map more hardkeys

Hi there,
Is there a way to map more hardkeys in Opal? I currently only have "Button1" and "Button1 (Hold)" listed in Settings/Personal/Buttons.
I looked up the keys in registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\
There are actually three folders/keys:
40C1 = Button 1
40C4 = Button 1 (Hold)
40C6 = Undefined?
Can I add more keys by editing registry? Anyone has experience doing this?
I'm going to try this old trick
1. install PHM Regedit (or any other registry editor)
2. go down to this location HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
3. create a key "40C8"
4. Go to the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C5
5. Select all values under that key and copy it
6. Paste it under the new key "40C8" you just created in step 3
7. rename it to suit a readable name like "Backlight"
8. Softreset using some app like psShutXP or pocket plus (and NOT using the hole)
8. now, you can configure this button as u do normally (for the rest of the buttons)
I'll just try some random numbers (eg. 40C1, 40C2...)

I tried the wonderful PQz_CHECK.exe to detect Opal's hardkeys. Problem is that I don't see them in Settings/Personal/Buttons after adding them to the registry with the method you find in my former post.
eg. The big "Action" button is presumably hardkey "400D". I added the necessary data to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\400D but nothing gets listed.
I think only buttons that start with 40Cx are listed in "Buttons".
Maybe someone can find a solution to this? I know there is AEBPlus, but I like poking around
It would be great if we could get all the keys in the "Buttons" menu in Opal's ROMs.
