Hello, I've had an XDA II for a couple of days and GPRS is working fine when I want to access the Internet. However from time to time, I get a warning box telling me that the XDA cannot connect to the network, even though I've not requested to do so.
I can only conclude from this that a program running in the background is trying to access the internet. Does anyone know how I can check what is causing this connection attempt?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I think this is the s/w I am really looking for.
By the way, 4eveRed, I have found the culprit. It was my XDA2 built-in email account which I accidentally configure to connect to internet every 15 mins.
Check that none of your accounts is configured that way.
Accounts->Accounts->GMail (in my case)->Setup->User Info->Account Info->Server Information Options
Loggon to MSN server is not working on my O2 exe.
It says the server doesn't respond...(my other ppc devive is working with the server)
Does this happen to you guys?
check your proxy settings, i notice on mine, no matter how many times i untick the autofilled proxy name and just have "this network connects to internet ticked" after a discon/recon its all ticked again, this stops my internet access. it wasnt quite the same on the BA, the unticking stuck there, ahh well
re
Nope, MSN working fine here. Can you connect to the internet OK ? Usually if you can conect to internet through GPRS/UMTS you should be able to conect to MSN.
Sorry not much help.
I didn't realise the O2 Exec was on sale yet ?
Cheers, Numb
May your problem is same to me
Sorry Maybe I'm too late to answer this question .
If you are already update new virsion msn , Please check your calendar date is correct , My ppc time was june before I changed, I won't login every time , the msn told me 'please try again later , the servise is not responding.' but , when I adjust my date to correct , I didn't meet that problem after that .
i wish this can help you .

Try to use Hitchiker or Wififofum.

I used to have it and running fine on my ppc but i uninstalled it because not many of my friends use skype. So now that there's free skype out calling i thought i'd give it a go. I reinstalled it, version 2.0.0.51, and when i attempt to connect it warns me "Skype needs an internet connection to function. Do you want skype to try to connect to the internet through a cellular connection? Warning: Your mobile service provider may charge for an Internet connection. Please contact your provider for pricing."
I click Yes then another warning comes up "Unable to connect to the Internet. Please chec your network settings." When i click No it just doesn't try to log in.
This happens when i'm connected through wifi and activeSync via USB. Any one know whats wrong?

try to launch pocket ie first and when you are already connected in GPRS/Edge then try to connect your skype. . . that works for me but i hope there's more easy step than that. . . without permanently connecting to the GPRS/Edge

Solution
Hi everyone,
I had the same problem. I've installed Skype, and used it once through GPRS/HSDPA. Then, I've used it through Wifi. It still worked, but the next time I tried to connect through GPRS/HSDPA I had the "Unable to connect to the internet" issue.
Here is what I did to fix it:
Connect the phone to the PC with ActiveSync and open the explorer. Make sure Skype is not running. Browse to the directory \Application Data and delete the Skype subdirectory. This folder contains your personal settings. Next, connect again to Wifi, and start Skype. You will now get the initial setup of Skype, and I can connect. (I could not connect without connecting to Wifi for some reason) Now, instead of logging out, I clicked on "Menu" and "Quit". After disabling Wifi, I restarted Skype and tried to connect. this time I again got the message if I wanted to connect through a cellular connection, but this time I could connect after clicking "Yes".
So this worked for me. I don't believe it is a permanent solution however. Let's wait for the next time the program c***s up.
Cheers,
Wim
