Hi
I use S100 (13 ROM), no additional BT drivers. So I can send any files from S100 to PC (Widcomm) using Resco and receive any file from PC using PC Explorer but received files are saved only in the default location: Root\My Documents. Is it possible to change that default location without changing BT stack?
I prefere to keep SSA and file transfer services on my S100.
Thanks

I'm looking for a small .exe file that can switch to Today screen without closing applications (like 'Today' option in SBP Pocket +)
Why, you'll ask me ?
Because I'd like to switch to today screen with my voice using Microsoft "Voice Command"
I'm already able to :
- Power off
- suspend
- soft reset
- Rotate screen
my Magician with some little applications command by voice but I can't find an exe file to switch to today screen...
Thanks in advance
I find what I was looking for
I post it there if it interests somebody...
I use PHM Keys for Pocket PC a freeware developed by Philippe Majerus
I extract PHMKeys.exe (34 Ko) and put it in \Program Files\Today (but you can put it wherever you want)
After this I create a shortcut in \Windows\Starting Menu\Programs to PHMKeys.exe with this Target :
Code:
"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe" Today?"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe",-117
I name it Today.lnk
That way when I pronounce "Launch Today" the today screen appears
Very interesting because I also use VC. And I do want to use it for more, than the built-in abilities.
1. How to create a shortcut and what do its elements mean?
2. How to switch between full volume/no volume + vibra? Built in command only changes telephone volume.
3. How do your other named shortcuts look like? (Power off and so on)
I think u can just say "start today" on voice command without any extra addon. I just tried it and it worked.
RE
Hi DocteurN
Can share how to use VC to
- Power off
- suspend
- soft reset
- Rotate screen
and what programs are required?
Thanks
I would realy REALY like to add skype ability to VC.
Much like as the call command works, but instead of a regular, using SkypeOut.
Like saying:
say: Skype <conctact name>
VC response: home or mobile
say: Mobile
I know it's like: offering a finger and trying to take the whole arm, but this would be realy convenient.
Anyone an idea if this could be accomplished?
Chatty > to create shortcut I use Resco Explorer : I Tap and Hold on PHMKeys.exe then Copy. Second Tap and Hold then Paste Shortcut.
A file named PHMKeys.lnk is created.
Rename it Today.lnk for example
Make a tap and hold on this file then Properties > Shortcut
That where you copy :
Code:
"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe" Today?"\Program Files\Today\PHMKeys.exe",-117
Copy the link in \Windows\Starting Menu\Programs and that's all
ioneng > Yes you're right !
but I'm using the french version of VC and I made a wrong translation of what I said
FOSA > I'm using little exe files (freewares) I've found on the net and that extracted from packages
Here they are :
Heimiko > Sorry for Skype I've got no idea...
Seeking deeply in 'PHM Keys' I find that you can use PHMKey.exe for a lot of interesting things just by creating shortcuts
Here are what you can do (text is from PHM site) :
Today - Returns to Today screen
My Documents - Opens My Documents folder
Close - Closes active program
Task Switch - Toggles between running programs
Next Window - Cycle through open programs forward
Prev. Window - Cycle through open programs backward
Undo - Cancels previous action
Redo - Cancels previous undo action
Cut - Cuts the selected item
Copy - Copies the selected item
Paste - Pastes the selected item
Page Up - Move one page up / to previous page
Page Down - Move one page down / to next page
Volume +/- Changes Volume
Lock - Shows the system password screen
Suspend - Turns off your Pocket PC
Rotate - Next display orientation clockwise
Rotate Left - Toggle display between 0° and 270°
Rotate Right - Toggle display between 0° and 90°
Rotate Reverse - Toggle display between 0° and 180°
I make a zip of all this shortcuts.
You just have to copy PHMKeys.exe in \Windows and the lnk files in \Windows\Starting Menu\Programs (you'd better create a folder before copy)
You can rename lnk files the way you want and it would work with VC
Now I'm looking for an exe file that can mute/unmute the volume.
You launch it one time => mute
A second time => unmute
I only find this utility : AutoMute (11 Ko)
But it intended to turn the volume down for a specific interval of time...
Anybody knows an application that does that ?
RE
Hi DocteurN,
Thanks for the files.
Just one question though. When you use VC to activate the files (like reset, poweroff, screensave etc) is there a pop up message box which says "Are you sure you want to xxxxx...Yes..No" upon which you manually tap either YES or NO action or that it'll execute the program stratightway without any pop up message box?
BTW, where to install all the mentioned files?
Thanks again
No, there is no popup, the program is execute straightway
Where to install the files ?

That is what I am really missing on the road
thanks in advance.

Hi!
I think your Reset has a problem.
When I click on it it pops up a message "Are you sure you want to rest your Pocket PC? Any unsaved data will be lost."

No, Why ?
That what does a soft reset... If you haven't saved your data (a Word document for exemple you'll lost it)
If you're afraid it does a hard reset, that not the case
RE
Hi DocteurN,
There's another soft reset freeware utility which soft resets immediately WITHOUT a pop-up message. I managed to find on the net which does the job nicely.
RE
Hi noviur,
VC cannot read email to you.
What you need is a TTS (text-to-speech) 3rd party program. I think one of the Toshiba's PPC has a simple TTS engine built-in
Thank you, Fosa
I know that it can not... but thought may be somebody tweak it
I was looking for any TTS application for PPC... Found something called Fonix Voice Central - they described it as app, which is doing it - i tried - no way
any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi DocteurN,,
See attached
I found a CAB file that actually deletes all the Recent Programs from the Start Menu - but is there any sort of Registry Hack that reduces the number from 5 to just 3 or 4 ??
Help !!
i think it just fills the recent menu entries until the menu reaches a maximum vertical size. Removing all of my other start menu items, I've just got a start menu full of Today + 11 recent progs. Silly, but I don't use Start button - I use Smallmenu. Much better!
V
There is a way to do this. Very simple In this recent programs section you see only the shortcuts to applications stored in Programs menu. But if you divide your shortcuts into other subfolders in the main Start Menu folder (in Windows) then those shortcuts will not appear in recent programs after running those apps Reeeealy simple
I have such subfolders in Windows\Start Menu:
- Games (I move here all games shortcuts)
- Office (word, excel... )
- Internet (Messaging, IE...)
- GPS (TomTom etc)
- Multimedia (WMP, BetaPlayer...)
- Programs (which is obligatory)
I also have one more folder called "Other" inside the Programs folder, where I place shortcus to apps that I rarely use. There also I created "Junk" folder for stuff I never use, but don't want to delete the shortcuts, incase they might come in handy. But shortcuts to those applications inside Programs or one of the subfolder of Programs will appear in recent programs section if started.

At the screen where you set the alarm, poke the 'bell' icon on the right, it will give you a few more options, which you can get to choose your tone.
thanks i never found the drop down menu..I looked all over..!
now is it possible to add additional sounds if needed/wanted. theres only a few alarm choices and they're all not very loud to wake up to. a song would be nice maybe. any suggestions?
im curious too. can't seem to find out how to change them on my htc touch.
but of course you can add additional files, just choose the file you want and save it inside the "windows" folder, use file explorer or total commander, then check the file in the program/settings/clock & alarms settings, click the "bell" icon enjoy

Sir, I have a WM6 OS on my Wizard.
The options you specified does not exist on my unit. I just copied the wav file to the Windows folder, and awaiting advise.
hi there.. i've searched for long (google and here) and still haven't got any answer..
i was wondering how can i put or create my own control panel entry or how to move control panel applets say from System to Personal..
is it possible to place shortcuts to EXE files in the Control Panel/Settings applet?
i would like to place all configuration applications (S2u2 settings, FtouchFLO Config, Battery Status Config, etc) in the Control Panel, since these are all settings/configurations, i feel that they should be within the control panel in one place and not scattered among other programs.
also, i would like to move the SRS WOW and MEMORY applets to the personal tab, because i always use them.. it saves me more clicks..
thanks in advance and i hope someone can help me..

aah.. ok.. thanks.. then how can i link cpl extensions to exes? because some (default) control panel entries (ctpnl.cpl) are actually linked to exes like Power, Backlight, Beam, Clock, etc (which are all in \Windows directory)..
is there a way to do the same?
also, how can i move (place into other tabs) some other 3rd party entries in the control panel?
i found in the registry (\HKLM\Control Panel\) that SOME entries can be moved, by changing the 'Group' DWORD vaue in each key(0=personal, 1=system, 2=Conn)..
though some are still missing, such as Clock, Add/Remove Programs, and 3rd party applets (except Wisbar's Theme manager applet)..
where can i find these entries?
also, thanks for the quick reply.. i was afraid that this li'l question will reach the second page without any replies at all..

I would personally like to know how that's done myself. Maybe I'll try opening a cpl file in Notepad or something..
tried opening a cpl in notepad.. and.. uhhm.. it just shows garbage tetx.. i think it is not unicode or anything readable by notepad..
thanks kabayan.. ehehe.. nice to see someone near home in an international forum..

Hello,
I was also trying to add a new entry in Control Panel and followed your instruction... It worked, I made one shortcut appear in System tab, under Settings. However, I wanted it to appear in Connections tab. Already tried to add the following entries in registry, but it didn't work.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\APP_NAME]
"Group"=dword:00000002
Any ideas?
Can anyone please help?

I use SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 and this software knows how to get widgets (shortcut) on Today. There is "Wirelless manager" in Start-Settings-Connections. Make a shortcut and be happy!

Thanx both of you, with the little program from "azahidi's" link i succeeded to use my WiFi, thanx guys your great
Now the only thing is to see how to Unlock ROM and put another one on my phone
Orig WiFi program as supplied with windows can be found using file explorer- Windows folder then scroll down till you see a file"WLanSettings" with a small picture of a PDA next to it.Highlight this file then select copy. Navigate to where you want to install, click in the window. Choose paste shortcut. Next, if you want, rename shortcut. Copy result, navigate to the folder you wish to place the shortcut in (ie settings?), paste. Close explorer, go to start menue, navigate to shortcut just created, should work

Thanks for the suggestion. I already found these WLanSettings, but it still isn't exactly what I'm after. When I launch WLanSetting, next I have to turn on Wireless LAN, wait...because my access point takes a while to appear in the list, because of the waiting period it doesn't "auto connect" anymore, so I have to press "change network" and select it manually from the list with detected access point...Hold it...
Thanks again !! because when trying this (at this very moment), "Settings" appeared in my task manager (after pressing "change network"; this opened Configure Wireless Networks). Through task manager I was able to see what exe-file was behind "Settings". It's "ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,17,2". Thanks to Google I just found out that putting 33# before ctlpnl.exe (without a space!) and saving this as .lnk works perfectly!!!
