Camera settings (to remove snow effect):
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/Camera/AppDefSettings/General
Set Contrast - 5, Brightness - 6, Saturation - 3, Hue - 5,Sharpness - 3
These settings will not reset themselves after closing the camera app or doing a soft reset! They become defaults.
Hope you find it useful!
kta,
That was great. It was minimized.
But i have not checked the output of the shot.
will it affect the output shot?
I tried this on my XDa2i but it doesnt work, the lowest value it allows me to enter is 0
To bad that won't work on the XDA II the camera needs a lot of help too. Does anyone know of a fix for the XDA II?
Emil, the output shot will be better as well!
Daredevil, the values are +ve, ie. 5, 3, etc. Maybe I should have used a ":" instead of a "-".
Great work!!!
thanks for the tip
I do not have these settings in the registry. Is this because I have not updated the ROM ?
Hi, where do I find this regedit?

You don't need to go into the registry...
fire up the camera application and click the settings button
click on the tools menu and choose adjust...
the settings are in the drop down box...
In this way you won't have to meddle with the registry...
amazing!
Hey kta, I tried it out, just wanna let you know the results are amazing!
I had given up on this camera (and just about the phone as a whole) especially when my friend checked with someone working with doopod said that this is a hardware (lens) problem so we can't really do anything about it. But you did it!
Just wanted to let you know I really appreciate the fix!
Fantastic! I applied it and it is much better
Thank you VERY much
amazing!

If you don't change them in the registry, the settings will reset themselves once you close (not minimise) the camera application or when you change the ambience from auto to night, etc.
The only permanent fix is to change them in the registry. Here's a link to a free registry editor: http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=31
PS: To all those that showed their appreciation: You're welcome
Maybe I missed something but I still do not find these attributes in the registry.........see my earlier post and screen shot.
kta, I agree that to get the change to stick its a registry change but in my registry I don't have these parameters. Is this because I have the older ExtROM ?
Grunt,
I'm not sure why you don't have these in your registry. I don't think it's the ROM version. I would try changing the settings in the camera settings and see if they get created. If that doesn't work I would try entering them manually as DWORD values base decimal (Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, Sharpness).
Why aren't you upgrading to 1.11 anyway?
for mini?
hi does this registry tweak work for mini also? if yes, Brightness - 5
is it refering to brightness = 5? sorry saw someone on the above mention post trying to go lower than 0...thanks
Just to clarify:
Camera settings (to remove snow effect):
In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/Camera/AppDefSettings/General
Set Contrast to 5, Brightness to 6, Saturation to 3, Hue to 5,Sharpness to 3
Can´t seem to remember how to change the "shadowness" i.e. the clearness of the choosen beckground picture. I know this is possible but just can´t figure out how..
Thankful for help!
Anyone that knows... Still need to find out how to do!
You mean by creating a new background for use with Today > Theme? Just use a paint program for that.
Otherwise, there's registry hacks available to change the colour of the lines on some screens, i think tweak2knet can do it.
V
Actually what I mean is when you go to settings>Today and then choose a picture as the background. There is a way that you can change the clearness of that picture once you choosen it. Just can´t remember how to do it. Its very simple and you don´t need a twitch or anything to do it...
Hope that somebody knows what I´m talking about before I start to think that I´m hallucinating!
dont worry emil73 your not going mad lol!
open the picture using the pictures program (its built in to all pocket pc's I think?) then choose set as today screen, a dialogue then lets you set the transparency level.
hope thats some help?

THANK YOU ROB!!!
For giving back my sanity...
Works great.
No problem
I think MS theme generator will let you do the same when creating themes with a pc.
tweaks2k is also good if you want to change the txt/lines colour on the today screen.
R
slightly related to this,
Does anyone know how to change the colour of the text on the start menu?
On some of my light themes the text is white, when it would be easier to see when it was black.
Imp
try cetuner to do theme editing on your device.
V
Just tried out the MS theme generator and just LOVED IT! But there is a bíg but... Trying to copy it to the device I realized that the theme generator program only worls with Windows Mobile 2002 only.
Is this right or can I find another version for the 2003 edition?!?!?!
I just have to get that....
It does work for WM2003 too.
YOu can use the Theme editor with WM2003, you just need to copy the theme file you just created manually to the PDA.
Does anybody know how to edit to make the keyboard light stay on longer... it turns off so fast sometimes you are floudering for keys in the dark.
Thanks!
search the forum. this has been talked about before. the keyboard light is controlled by a hardware switch, sadly no registry keys for it :-(
that's real shatty. this was the one reg hack I was looking for taday.

The CommManager is not added in this programm, maybe someone knew another programm for it.
cab works great and is what i was looking for sorry for being newbish. Thanks alot for the cab
what today themes are you guys using with this program. Im finding that most the themes out there will load but the picture on the theme will only be small picture in the middle of the screen instead of taking up the whole screen.

you can use Resco Photo Viewer to set your today wallpaper which will fill the whole screen
or just get a free registry editor and change the DPI setting from 192 to 96.
HKCU/software/microsoft/today/dpi
then do something that will refresh display, say rotate screen or soft reset...

are you looking in the correct place? i.e. HKCU
its there on Tmobile Ameo ROM, and seems to be a standard WM5 reg setting since i got the info from an old WM5 site explaining how to get pictures bigger in the background on WM5 devices.
if your provider has removed it, try adding it
Added HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\DPI as Dword value 96 in dec (0x60 in hex)
Nothing happens

Remember to do a soft-reset after every reg edit. Use a software, or turn off device for 10 seconds and turn on again, before doing the reset
Is there an easy way to change the font color on the Today screen in my Hermes (Cingular 8525)? I'm fine with the rest of the theme, but I want the font color to be black instead of white.
You can do it with SKTools. There is probably a reg entry somewhere if you don't want to spend the bucks/use the memory space, but I don't know where that edit would be made.

I just found this on another forum, but it's probably here somehere as well. Works great on my 8525, though I did have to install the latest .NET Compact Framework. And it's a freebie!
