Java image drawing question - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I'm trying to write a simple card game in Java for the Wizard (Cingular 8125), using the Intent Midlet Manager, and I'm having trouble drawing images and text to the screen. What works fine in the emulator doesn't work at all on the phone itself.
The Graphics.drawLine method works fine, I can use the stylus to draw lines all over the screen just fine, but text and images don't work at all.

CITRIX ICA CLIENT

Hello, Hopefully someone has already had this problem and fixed it.
I am using the Citrix ICA client to launch Applications on my Companies Web Server.
The apps load in okay however they are always launched zoomed into the whole application at once.
Trouble is this makes the Writting very small and difficult to read.
There is a Giant bar at the bottom of the screen with the keyboard icon that takes up far to much room. and on it are the ICA zoom in and out buttons. only thing is they dont work on WM5.
Anybody got any ideas for either hiding the bottom bar or getting the zoom buttons working.
:? :? :?
aajs: with respect to terminal services, see here
I'm working to get a beta version of full screen terminal services out within a week; I've posted that if someone show's me a screenshot of the Citrix client (or sends me a copy of the client paying attention to pirating and copyright issues, and a test server address to test on) I'll have a play with it to see if I can sort it out as well. No promises on time frame though.

V,
you can download the Citrix-Client for free from www.citrix.com

Thanks Wolfgang; I'll try to look into it.
If you've got a screenshot of it running, I'll be able to give you a quick idea if I can fix it. I don't quite understand how the problem looks on your PDA, and can't really install and test it right now.

I'd like to send you a sreenshot, but I have still some problems to configure the program.
Citrix tries to connect to http://127.0.0.1 and the MDA tries to open a connection to through the phone instead connecting to the localhost.
I'm searching still (on my Blueangel it worked without any problems)

This is working the way it should. I'm assuming that you're comparing this to the way the Citrix ICA client looks on another PocketPC. Because the Universal's screen resolution is 640x480 you'll be able to see much more of your application than you can with a 'standard' PocketPC who's screen resolution is only 320x240 (or one quarter of the Jasjar's screen). Since the screen on the universal and the screen on most PocketPC's are about the same physical size and you're able to see four times as much information on the universal that has the effect of making everything look much smaller.
Personally, I love the fact that it does this and this is one of the only reasons why I got a universal. It is much more useful to me because you can see so much more information on the screen at once.

The zoom buttons do work, but they don't do what you think. Because the Universal's screen does have those bars on the top and bottom of the screen you don't get the full 640x480 resolution for your Citrix session - you need to scroll up or down to see the parts of the screen that the bars are covering. The zoom buttons can 'shrink' the citrix screen so that the whole height of the screen fits between the two bars - it actually makes the screen smaller so that you don't have to scroll up and down.
As far as I know there is no way to completely hide the bars unless vijay is able to work his magic on them

Brett, if you've got a screenshot I'll get an idea of what you guys mean.
I'll be working on the Terminal Services client this weekend hopefully, and then I'll see what else can be thrown together!

Try Microsoft Remote Display Control from this web link - but like with most applications you'll need to install it and run it on the Exec before you can connect to it so this may not be of much use...
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/wce/downloads/ppctoys.mspx#ELD
Start the "Remote Display Control Host" on your PC
Then on my Exec the key combination get this running once installed is:
Windows key->P (Open start menu and get to programs listing)
C then right arrow twice (Program is called "cerdisp" so on mine it's the 3rd application who's name starts with C, the first 2 being Calculator and Camera)
Enter then OK (Start the application and bypass the Microsoft copyright message)
C and then Enter (Connect and then accept the default hostname assuming you are using ActiveSync)
I hope this helps!

p.s. In my experience if you are using 640x480 this application only works in landscape. Not entirely sure why.
You want Pocket Controller from SOTI.
I use it at work - makes it easier to reply to texts - looks like I'm working while I'm actually arranging which pub to meet at that evening after work
That microsoft one is slick. Thanks!!! I have a wizard but this thread had recent activity so i checked it out. nice little app!!!.

Softkeys in Java games, how to get them to work?

I've installed some Java games meant for "regular" mobile phones on my Dopod 838 Pro. I am able to run them via the Midlet manager. The keys to be used to play the games all work fine except for the softkeys. There are usually commands or options to select using softkeys.
Nothing happens when I press any of the two softkeys. Does anyone know how to get the softkeys to work with these java games or at least to use some other keys/buttons to replace them?
Thanks for any tips.

Documents to Go?

I had used this on my Palm PDA for some time and had no problems. I downloaded the trial and found that when I went to preferences I couldnt scroll down the page to see all the settings/options. I tried the DPAD, moving the scroll bar with my finger and the stylus, it just popped back to it's starting place and the page didnt move.
Dataviz said it's because the software wasnt designed for a touch screen. Excuse me?! For one, I can scroll through the document fine with the dpad and I can pan a page by way of the touch screen. Also, palm devices have always been touch screens and didnt windows mobile start on PDAs with touch screens?
Anyone else tried the software and have it work?
Um, I guess this is not a direct answer to your question, but why on earth would you want to use Documents to Go? The Touch has native Work, Excel, and Powerpoint capabilities, no conversion required. You can even view and edit the new 2007 formats (docx, xlsx, pptx). The Touch also comes with the Adobe PDF viewer built in, so you're not getting anything out of that program.
I had good experience with Documents to Go on my palm pda. I thought I would see how it worked in windows mobile as reviews still gave it high ratings. But after that run around I unistalled it.
It's certainly a very good program - I used it on my old Clie UX40. I'm just saying it's completely redundant and unnecessary on a WinMo 6.0 device.

Java Apps with JBlend

Hi Everyone,
I have had my Touch Pro 2 for about a week now and there is something that is bugging me.
Although I can install applications perfectly fine, java applications however can only be accessed by using JBlend.
I want to use Gmail but I need to use the keyboard when typing emails, and so each time the Gsensor notices a screen rotation the application must restart. This is definitely an annoyance.
Is it possible to install Java Applications that run in another type of Java enabled platform or even better off the Windows Mobile application list natively like normal phones.
I will try going into Gyrator 2 and setting up a new event for Gmail, but I don't think I will be able to find the jar extension.
Did u tried JBed before? Many cabs floating here.
No it's my first time using it. All the other phones I had used Java apps natively.
The version I'm using came with the EU ROM. Build v3.3.5, 20090316.2.1
I have this problem too. Using Jblend with my stock broking software.... whenever I close the keyboard... I will get error message: Screen rotation detected, please restart MIDLET. ARGGHHH......
Hopefully someone can come up with a solution for this.
Ha.... solve thanks to monx.
Jbed works well. Do a google search for Jbed Midlet Manager Build 20070802.2.1. Fonts are a bit smaller but it works fine and supports screen rotation on my stock software now.
Cheers!!!!
