And tell me if you have a file called 'services' in it?
If you do -- does anyone know what it does, or if I need it.
It seems to be causing a problem with my Vario II.
Thanks all,
Ratzz

It's there alright services.exe. I could be quite wrong but had taken this to be something akin to the programme on windows xp that controls running services i.e. various network facilities, time clients and a host of other bacground facilitating processes.

Is there a software that gives you a list of all installed programs on you XDA II?
I think I saw something like this somewhere in the forum, but now I don't find it.
Thanks for the answer.

I'd like to have a txt file that give you all the installed programs.
Your solution can be interesting, but I saw also that there is a little software that do it. But I can't remember which one it is.
Bye,
Urosh
well since they are all in the registry then it would not be too hard to make such a program maybe if you remembered it's name search would give an url to it
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=9333&highlight=installed+programs
It does something like this.
But now when I have read it carefully it is not exactly what I need.

Extended ROM of the Simplified Chinese 1.12.07 ROM uploaded for the convenience of those who need it:

There are quite a few useful programs not available in other language versions.
Please note that this is only a temporary link. The administrator may eventually place it at the "permanent" location:

Apps review
Did anybody try this yet? If so, please post a review of files. It could be in a following form:
[File Name]: [Description]: [Language: English/Chinese] : [Screenshot, if applicable]
It would help us out a lot. I don't read/understand Chinese, so don't want to install something I can't use anyway.
Thanx in advance.
Looks like no one is interested in trying it out/sharing. I guess, I'll set an example and start.
1. [BT_COM_PORT.CAB]:
Unlocks a list of COM ports in Bluetooth settings. Resolves the "Unable to create COM port" issue when trying to connect an Incoming/Outgoing COM port. See screenshot for details.

battery_OU_081304.sa.CAB gives you a battery status icon on the status bar (top) like that of an ordinary cell phone, which is also a shortcut to a battery control panel applet and a shortcut to memory control panel applet on the taskbar (bottom of the Today screen). Quite useless, if you ask me. Don't have it installed anymore, so no screenshot for now.
As to what other 2 cabs do, I have absolutely no clue. I did not see any difference after installing. And, actually, I really don't remember installing Gotone_103139.sa.CAB, anyway. Hope I helped.
tried the bt_patch didn't see any major improvements in comparison with 1.13wwe though. Powerwordce is probably a dictionary with a lot of Chinese & Airstrike is a simple but nice arcade with again a lot of chinese. Haven't tried the others, cause they all sound like Chinese branding of some sort.

Active Synch port issue
Having tried to troubleshoot a bluetooth active synch issue (mda compact could see the pc, not however connect via active synch with com port errors) to it i am delighted to say this bt_patch cab has soved this issue straight away.
Nice one.
Hi all,
My Vario II kepps telling me that it's trying to run a programme when it switches back on to the today screen from standby.
I can't find this application (I'm pretty sure its from a previously removed programme) in windows/start menu/ or, windows/startup
It also doesn't appear in the today screen anywhere.
Anyone any ideas where it might be located, or how to remove it?
Thanks
Ratzz
Notifications
Try using MemMaid or some similar software to look in the notification queue, there are events that can happen when the PPC come out of standby - maybe there is one in there for the app that is being called.
You never mentioned what the app was....
Charlie Grillo
Hi Charlie,
Boy, that was a quick reply!
I will give MemMaid a go - the application was part of TomTom which I removed.
Ratzz
The file is called 'services' and is located in the windows directory.
Has anyone else got this file in their directory? Do I need it?
Thanks
Ratzz

BTW, I used 'Mobile TaskManager v1.4.5' for what it's worth - a good little freeware tool.
Hi,
I'm looking for a tool, which allows to execute a program with a command line a certain time of x minutes after docking the device in the cradle or alternatively x minutes after active sync. Does something like this exist?
*bump*
Really nobody got an idea?
Maybe MortScript has such an option ...

Interesting idea. Maybe someone knows more. Unfortunately, I don't know mortscript myself.
Hi
It would be easy enough to write a desktop application that will fire off an application using RAPI. Have a look at the Opennetcf library.
If your c++ is up to scratch you could also create an Activesync Service Provider (then let me know how you did it).

Pete

Hi there,
are there any devices/programs that can show all visible cell-id, not only thw one currently connected?
If you know let me know.

phonealarm pro can do this. once you montior the cell, you can link profiles to it and make it set your device config as you like when you come home or at your work, etc. very useful!
try type *#*#364#*#* in phone application

hi there,
jep thanks ...364.... works for me. is there any program that worked with cell1-cell6 info?
excellent tip. Thanks
CellProfileSwitcher can log any cell's it encounters and also near by ones. It can do more than just profile switching.

@h4waii
I have installed this software on HTC Universal but the prog doesnt recognise any cell. Is this device hardware limitation or I need to find proper version?
cellprofileswitcher
yes, i tried this one too...
you can check the forum and will notice that tytn gsm module is some kind different so it doesn't work.
For this reason all ideas are welcome.
I'm interested would it be posible to store data to a file, if the data is seen at the screen, suppose we enter some code (like get imie), or run program and the required information is showen on the screen...
getting info
Maybe someone could share how to get info such like cellprofileswitch returns?
Since i need to combine more information at the same time and know that cps won't manage to do it...
Yes !!!
Work in my Cruise !
