When I receive a call and put the phone to my ears, the speaker is too loud even set to minimum, Is there a hack that can adjust this?
If I put everything on speaker phone, the speaker is also too loud but not so anoying, but on the other hand people complain they don't hear me, so the mic
is set too low.
How can I modify this, help needed.

Vid
Why not just lower the volume. Better too loud than too soft... right?
The volume is set to minimum and is still shouts.
And I keep asking people to speak a little bit more quiet and thay say they speak normal.
So my speaker is ultra I suposse, but can I shut it up a bit?
Have exactly the same problem with all 3 M3100's that I've had. Is yours an M3100 too?
I notice that on hard reset, when the extended ROM is executed it runs an application called something like AdjustAcousticProperties. I wonder if this is doing it?

... whereas on the stock HTV Tytn, the volume is too low! If there's any way of extracting this AdjustAcousticProperties, it might be a real plus for us Tytn owners for whom the volume is too low.
Thanks!
Yes, mine is SPV M3100 too. I will look at the extended rom folder If I have that file.
Any solution?
The file would be great, thanks.
The only solution I can think of is a hard reset and an interrupt when the extROM cabs are loading (eg, don't let the AdjustAcousticProperties load)
Donno about you guys .. but my TyTN .. on speakers .. even with the lowest volume .. SEEMS WAY TOOOOOO LOUDD ...
Yes, on speakerphone, but we're talking about the earpiece volume here, I think...
PLEASE! if you can extract this file I'll like to try it out.
My earpiece of the tytn is SSSHHHIIIIITTTTEEE! its way to soft for me also.
I'm sorry your having the complete opposite problem that some of us are. I wish i could offer a solution for you but if you can offer a solution to some of us, that would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers and thanks
I can post the CAB's somewhere if somebody else would like to take a dig around inside of them?
[edit] Just realised the Orange Extended ROMs are on the site already -

I'm using a Vario II with the same problem.
With speakerphone turned on, even when it is set to the absolute minimum, the speaker screeches....it's that loud!

Hmm, can't see the CAB for AdjustAcousticProperties in the list anywhere, unless I'm being blind...
Anyone help? I'd love to increase the earpiece volume on my Tytn
I presume it's a .exe file buried inside one of the CABs. not sure how you go about decoding the contents of them though as all the files are renamed.
[edit] Just been looking around inside the CAB's using 'Wince cab manager' and nothing appears obvious. I'm sure I'm not dreaming... maybe the application is buried in there somewhere but the name isn't obvious as I have definitely seen it displaying something very close to 'SetAcousticParams' or 'AdjustAcousticProperties' during the execution of a contents of the extended ROM.
If I get time tomorrow I'll do a backup and then do a hard reset to check.
Andy.
Andy,
Great, many thanks!
Just did a hard reset - First thing it does when running the Extended ROM is at the bottom of the screen it says "Running SetAcousticParam.exe /Run..." which takes about a minute to run. Then when it installs the other CAB's you see "Installing ...... " at the bottom of the screen instead. Not sure where the exe is coming from now to be honest as it *doesn't* appear to be in the CAB's.
Andy.
Hmm, interesting. Don't suppose this file is buried somewhere in you windows folder heirarchy is it?
Thanks for helping out here!
Isnt there a reg key u can change the quality level and other things for speaker and speaker phone ,
I rememmber it on my htc wizard.
Hi!
I have totally opposite problem; my original handsfree is too quiet when listening music via Media Player. Every sound setting in the device is at maximum; Media Players volumebar is set to 100%, I scroll devices overall volume to max and slide that little knob at the HF to max. Yet it aint as loud as I would like to. And no, I´m not half deaf or such.
Allso while listening music without HF, I would like to have the device more louder.
Any hints about good 3rd party equalizer programs out there? Like such that the WinAmp (for Microsoft XP) EQ is.
Karzi, yes theres these regkeys which enables one to adjust the quality of the audio, but not it loundness. So I keep searching for programs what would allow to adjust even music loudness, ie equalizers. Anyone?

It *appears* to be... but I can't seem to find it. Found a script called preconfig.txt in \windows which seems to govern what happens on the first powerup after a hard reset, which contains the following:
LOCK:Enabled
EXEC:\Windows\SetAcousticParam.exe /Run
EXEC:\Windows\SetHSDPA.exe /Enable
EXEC:\Windows\cusTSK.exe \Windows\Orange2006.tsk
CAB: \Windows\MP_CVSDcpl_20060503.cab
CAB: \Windows\MP_MMS3.2_Hermes_OrangUKWWE_060601.CAB
XML: \Windows\PP_Cerfiticate.xml
XML: \Windows\PP_Generic_Conn_Setting.xml
XML: \Windows\PP_Generic_UI.xml
XML: \Windows\PP_Others_Conn_Setting.xml
XML: \Windows\PP_others_UXC.xml
Hide:Enabled
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\autorun.exe
LOCKisabled
RST: Reset
Looks like it does loads of stuff before it executes the extended ROM. Still can't find the exe though!

Hi!
I've been reading a lot of these forums about activating A2DP with a mono-bluetooth headsets, and found (in different places) some different ways, (change a couple of registry settings and with some pocket pc/headset one had to change a file called BTAGExt.dll)
I have made a CAB file for these hacks and also included the file "BTAGExt_new.dll" I call it _new because I change the registry to locate this new file instead of the old, that way one doesn't have to overwrite the dll file and can, if problems occur, change in the registry instead. The file is needed for some (me included) that are having trouble with music playing in the headset for about 10seconds.
Anyway, i have made a self-installing cab file for this, so that other people may use it easily, without need of hacking the registry, one does not need to use btaudioon and similar program to make this work,
EDIT: AS many people pointed out, here are the instructions to USE this , sorry for that:

It is nice to see my little hack being used
BE AWARE:
*VoiceCommand DOESN'T WORK!! (since my cab disables it in favour of all-sound in headset)
*I take NO RESPONSIBILITY if this crashes your phone or anything else, USE IT AT OWN RISK!
* It only changes this things:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"UseJointStereo"=dword:00000000
"BitPool"=dword:0000003a
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:00000050
"MinSupportedBitPool"=dword:0000000e
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Builtin\BtA2dpSnd]
"Priority256"=dword:0000003c
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"LaunchApEnable"=dWord:1
"VoiceCmdDuration"=dWord:15180
And copies this file: BTAGExt_new.dll to \Windows (or whatever windows dir you have)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway]
"BTAGExtModule"=string:"BTAGExt_new.dll"
Then do a soft-reset and voila, the sound should work.!
This worked great with my X01HT and Motorola HS850.
I used this too with my Sony HBH-60 bluetooth mono headset and it worked perfectly for me too .
Much better for listening to podcasts while in bed!
(no more strangling myself with earphone wires! )

I am not sure, but I belive that if you uninstall it it should go "back" to normal.
otherwise, the "normal" would be
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings]
"UseJointStereo"=dword:00000001
"BitPool"=dword:0000003a (this setting just changes the soundquality)
"MaxSupportedBitPool"=dword:00000050 (this too delete if not wanted)
"MinSupportedBitPool"=dword:0000000e (and this, delete if not wanted)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Builtin\BtA2dpSnd]
"Priority256"=dword:0000003c (delete if not wanted, better quality)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand]
"LaunchApEnable"=dWord:1 (KEEP!)
"VoiceCmdDuration"=dWord:15180 (change to 30seconds or whatever, dword:30)
And copies this file: BTAGExt_new.dll to \Windows (or whatever windows dir you have) (delete this file!)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway]
"BTAGExtModule"=string:"BTAGExt_new.dll" (change to BTAGExt.dll)

Thank you very much.
I use the audio to bluetooth feature with skype as it would otherwise send the sound to the loudspeaker, which, in a public place is not really convenient.
Now, with the code to "on" the sound and the code to"off" it, maybe there would be a simple way to create an app which would toggle from one state to the other? would you know how to do that ? alternatively, is there some kind of scripting tool for the ppc that I could use ?
thanks in advance,

Interestingly, this makes A2DP to transfer everytig in mono on my other MS BT stack-based devices, as has also been pointed out in my related article - are you sure this is the original value?

I believe that it is, at least on my device, but I may be wrong, it was long since I did my cab file. so not 100% sure no,
I was as curios as you, could it be that it uses mono to save bandwith? and thereby increase the range of the bluetooth?
but hey, I am no expert, I roughly took reghacks from around this forum and put together a cab file, I tried to make the cab to produce the best sound availible to a monoheadset, and nothing more, nothing less.
as it were a couple of weeks ago I since I did this i don't really remember every detail of it, but I believe most of this is stated in the hermes_wiki
I have not installed this yet and have a question. If I'm listening to my Slingbox through my Nokia 900 headset and get a phonecall, will it automatically switch to the phone call or do I have to stop Slingbox? Thanks

Mic on bluetooth headset
I wanna know if I installed this file to use something like Skype, can I not only hear the sound from my Bluetooth headset but also speak through the headset too?
How do I get back to normal?
Hoping someone could help me out. I tried installing the file above. The installation process went well, but immediately following the soft reset, I noticed that my phone screens and response to menu picks was considerably slower. My phone locks up all of the time, and I am unable to toggle the bluetooth on and off. I tried to uninstall the application, but I get a message at the end saying that it was unable to completely remove the program. Wondering if anyone could help me to get to the registry and change the settings back to normal. HELP!!!!
Works for Vodafone 1605 with factory rom
thanks
Thank you for the cab/hacks. None of the other alternatives worked on my 8525. Now if someone could incorporate this into someway to switch between modes, that would be great. Right now, I install and uninstall the cab several times a day! I get nervous that the registry will get corrupt from all of the install/uninstalls.
Thank you very much!
Hi!
thanks for all the appreciation about my cab! I am happy to see that others are using it and are happy about it
I also noticed that some people has problems with it,
dhenry88: Try and install it again, otherwise, try and revert the setting yourself, I posted the "original" settings a some time ago in this thread, so go get a reg-editor and hack it
because that is all the cab-file does, changes registry (and copies a file to /windows/system32
however, this file is not important for the os itself (because I change the registry to find the changed file, not changing the file and overwriting the original.
but sorry to hear that it had such bad performance on your phone, it shouldn't do anything like that, but hey, every phone is different.

Indeed this is a great little program and I'm very thankful for it. Like lantern, I think it would be great if someone could figure out a way to switch modes easily as I'm unable to initiate a voice call through my Bluetooth headset with this program installed. I too have to install/uninstall the cab many times each day. I’m certainly not complaining, just expressing a wish.
Just a note to let anyone know that may not know already, over at PocketGPSWorld they've discovered that you can have custom POI warning sounds/voices by simply placing an .ogg sound file in the same folder as the .ov2 and .bmp file, provided the .ogg is named exactly the same as the .ov2.
For example if you have gatso_20.ov2, you would name the sound file gatso_20.ogg.
This saves messing about with data.chk, and AFAIK this also doesn't count towards the limit of custom sounds you can have.
Very handy to have a voice saying, for example, "Warning, speed camera ahead, speed limit 30mph" rather than that annoying alarm sound!
Ray's TomTom site has some nice free .ogg voice downloads (http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/realvoice.html), or you can record your own.
See http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=47366
Just to add that I have tried these and there are some available from the article.
They work a treat, but I found them too quiet on my Wizard.
Just a quick addition to the instructions, anyone that has pound it a pain in the arse to set them all up will find that they will have to go through them all again and leave the settings as they are. You will find that it now no longer asks you which sound you want.
Here's the ****ty bit. I took them off because I found them quiet and I expected TT to go back to the settings prior to installing the voices - Nope, I had to go through them all again from scratch.
Just a bit of advice.

I KNOW. there are many threads about this.
As you might agree with, the ring tone volume is one of the worst things with this phone.
I've looked everywhere for an anser to this question but they just keep complaining, not explaining.
The Xperia ringvolume is too low and i'd realy like some one to tell me how to fix this. Both in multimedia and when it rings.
I've tried the AudioPara3 and the SRS and neither worked.
please...
The volume on mine is plenty loud, you sure it's not the ringtones you are using? I have heard of people damaging the speaker with excessively loud sounds being played through it.

It depends on what you are use to.
My very old k500i is about the same as the Xperia but my last phone and the one before that (k850i, k800i) felt like more than double the volume of the xperia.
With the k850i i listend to some music once while driving the car and i had volume 7/10 and it was REALY loud and clear but now with the xperia i have it on max volume and it's barley hearble.
I know the speaker could do better because i tried converting a song with 600% volume and it realy went louder without any distortion at all.
I don't want to do this to every song i want to listen to since i have about 800 of them...
What baffles me most is the freaggin' speaker location. The handset is designed for right-handed use. However, the speaker broadcasts sounds on the left side of the handset (with slide closed). Therefore, it's easy to muffle any sound broadcast from the handset if cupped with the left hand. The scenario proves the same if trying to converse in speakerphone mode. You constantly need to re-adjust your hand in order to not muffle the sound.
I would agree that the speaker volume is softer the most SE handsets. I still have my 3 yr old P990i around which utilizes the same incoming call wave file. There is a very significant (at least 2:1) difference in volume between the two.

You can find some useful information there. On most of the threads I have been through, most of the people recommend OPTXperiabeta02.cab.. Will try to find a link to download and post it here.. But, I haven't tried it myself yet, so don't kill me if it damages your speaker.. People who have used it said that they had to decrease the volume, so I would advice you to do the same
OPTXperiabeta02.cab here
I used this fix posted in another thread before.
IT Works GREAT, the volume is a lot higher than before!
It's called optxperia beta version 2 from http://ixperia.ru/soft/winmobile/51-opt-xperia.html
hope it helps!
Where can you find the app after you have installed it? Can't find it either in programs, nor in settings.. And it doesn't seem like the sound have improved any..
I find that cranking up the System Volume (not just the Ring Volume!) is a must when using mp3's as ringtone... otherwise it's v. quiet.
It should have prompted you for a reset after installing the app.
It can be found in settings -> remove programs -> it's called Auanti by Davide Gialli OptXperia
I just installed this and....wow, this may be too loud..lol good find. thanks a lot.

I removed it, and downloaded it from another site, and that one prompted for a soft reset. But I was just wondering whether you can edit the options (HOW much loader, if it only works when you receive calls, or also playing music, etc.)..? I found it on the location you posted, but there I can only remove it When I woke up this morning, the alarm sounded much higher than before, I had to turn the volume down, so I think its working quite well
Be careful with that cab - it does a fair few things:
1. Replaces 3d driver
2. Adds HTCAPI.dll to Windows (used by some 3d apps)
3. Replaces audiopara3 files (controls volume amongst other things)
4. Amends the threaded SMS layout
5. Replaces MMS settings
6. Turns off SIP autodeploy
7. Amends RAM cacheing etc.
8. Amends SD read settings
9. Changes Wifi g settings.
I'm sure they're all improvements on someone's ROM, somewhere but may end up messing up yours.
Seriously, get yourself MSCEInf and analyse these before installing - it's an extremely useful program. The only part you need is the audiopara3 csv files...

Is there a guide to this akp?
Ok so definately increases volume?, but does that result in noticeable lack of quality? (ie do louder tones sound bad)
Would it be possible to install this after flashing to Touch it or Touch X rom for example? or would that be incompatible?
thanks

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post, so please be gentle with me. I have had a little search around, and still can't find a solution to my problem.
I recently flashed to Oz rom 1.5 , and I'm on radio 2.07.50.27_2.
So basically no matter what setting I put the volume to, my ringtone and notifications are always the loudest they can be (obviously not if its on silent or vibrate) I have tried changing ringtone back to the default one, and its exactly the same. Is there a reg edit I can do? Does anyone else suffer from this?
Let me know your thoughts!
Cheers

You can have it set to have different volumes for system sounds and ringtones.
When you click one of the volume buttons, do you have "System" and "Ring" tabs at the top of the page? If you do, make sure you're on the ring one to set ringtone volume. This can also be done from the "Sound & Display" options on the settings tab.
Hope this helps mate
Thanks johncmolyneux, I've already tried that and it makes no difference. I have it set so there is only one volume control (so system and ringtone volume is combined) ... any other ideas?
Sorry mate, I know that was a bit of an obvious thing to check, but you never know on here
I guess my only advice would be to go back to the ROM thread and ask there. Maybe it's a problem with that.
no prob mate... I have asked there as well and the chef wasn't sure either...
are there any registry things I can check? I was thinking maybe my phone thinks 'level 1' on the volume is actually 'level 5' or something?
its so annoying-scares the life out of me every time someone calls!

Having never had a problem with this myself, I've got no idea where this particular data is stored. It does sound like something that would live in the registry though, so I'm sure that someone on here will be able to help you out. There's some walking encyclopaedias of Windows registry on here! lol
Good luck getting it sorted mate.

This solution increases:
MICROPHONE VOLUME
IN-CALL VOLUME
SPEAKER VOLUME
RINGTONE VOLUME
MUSIC PLAYER VOLUME
and has been tested and working 100%
I've decided to share a ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL solution for all the X2 users and the general population of windows mobile users.
Here's the solution:
First, you need totalcommander. Google it.
1) Open TotalCommander
2) Go to ftp\\registry\HKCU
3) Change ALL the following to the value specified:
HKCU/Control Panel\Phone\vol\65535 (General volume of the X2 including microphone input!)
HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/InCall/Initvol\5
HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring/5
HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/System/5
HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Attentuation\All to 5
HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/InCall/InitVol\5
HKCU/ControlPanel/SoundCategories/Ring/InitVol\5
4) Soft-reset
5) Press the volume up key and set it to the 5th indicator (Max)
6) Press volume up key 1 more time, and you will hear an additional beep 200% louder and the indicator marker remains the same at the 5th marker on the top. This means you have sucessfully tweaked your volume!
6) Do step 5 again with in-call and congrats!
Enjoy your beloved X2 =)
I am satisfied with the default volume levels and will leave it as is.
Do note people, increasing output levels beyond the specified levels can damage your speakers!
sounds good. is it possible for someone to make a registry file of this? so we can just run it and it does it all for us noobs lol. (like the sd card fix)
although im not sure i need to increase the microphone input level, is it possible to leave that out.
Couldn't get totalcomander to work!!!! Which file did you download? It says if you have a touchscreen to download the pocket pc version...Did you download the installer or just the cab files? Thanks.

Hi, would you mind clarifying this value/number. In the first value my default is 65535... are you saying that this value should just be '5'. Not 55555?
thanks

If your capable of making a cab file for this, trust me a lot of people will be happy and appreciate it.

You dont have to use totalcommander. Since it is a registry tweak, you can use a simple Registry Editor that you can download from Windows Marketplace for free
Bro.
I think if the cab file available, it more pleasure like audiopara cab file

Didn't find any change.
No changes to my xperia x2 either..
I've been dealing with low volume issue of WM since my O2 atom but not for my Samsung Valencia (c6625), so I just copied all samsung's ringtones and alarms from my valencia and use it in my X2, hahaha . they are sound nicer and louder! SE could have done much much better providing us lots of (nice and loud) ringtones just like samsung did.
i have found a program that increases your volume
Many Many Many thanks to HS_LuKa_ i want to tell that the application is perfect and sound is very loud and if u receive error when run it first time just restart the phone ,
thanks again HS_LuKa_
