Hey i was wandering if i can connect my xda 2 to my broadband to have internet on the pda either through wireless or a cable.
any wireless router will allow you to connect to the internet with an XDA.
Thanks alot got it to work through bluetooth and active sync works great accept for 1 thing the screen doesnt fit but doesnt matter.

i do not want buy a 3g data card for the laptop is it possble to feed the laptop
through wi-fi or with a cable from 3g universal
I dont think you can do it by wifi but you can connect the 2 devices by wifi no issue. I tnihk the same applies to the cable either USB or LAN. However you can by bluetooth. All you need to do is set up the exec to be discoverable and get the lap top to look for bluetooth devices and explore the services on them. You will them see the bluetooth modem. Then all you need to do is to create a link to your mobile operators gprs or 3g internet connection in the usual way. You will need to download the setup specific for your network.
Good luck
Also remeber to up the speed from the default as this assumesgprs and you have afaster connection with 3g.
If you do not have bluetooth on your laptop just buy a BT dongle for about £15 then you are away.

An XDA as a router! Wonder if MS will make a version of the Internet Connection Sharing Wizzard for WM5! LOL
I can see the use but not someone actually making it.
There is a thread on this somewhere.
I connect my universal to my laptop via the sync cable and then the laptop uses the universal as a modem and connects to teh web at 3g speed. The universal comes with wireless modem, you just have to play around to get the drivers on the laptop to see the universal when you plug in.
works well.

thanks eveyone been a geat help
i'm very new to this kind of stuff so can someone plz tell me if i can use the wifi feature on my qtek to pick up a wireless internet connection and have the phone connected to the computer through activesync simultaneously? cus i can't seem to make it work. everytime i try to connect the phone to the computer through activesync after i have had the wireless internet connected, the activesync seems to disconnect me from the wireless connection. so im just wondering if i can connect those 2 connections at the same time or not?
no you can't, sorry
Activesync tears down the wifi connection and builds a new conection using you PCs networking. You can still access the intenet through you PC though.
thanks
thanks for the quick reply. yeah i know i can access the internet through PC connection but the problem is that my wireless adapter is broken so i want to have my qtek pick up the internet and then use activesync to transfer the internet connection back to my computer so i can go online on my PC, thats all. so there is no way we can work it around huh?
So I bought myself a WiFi dongle (802.11g) so that I could surf the net/pick up emails on my XDA by using a WiFi link to my laptop which is connected to the internet via ADSL. The laptop recognises the WiFi dongle but I can't get a connection between the laptop and the XDA. Both are in open mode with no security (i'll get the system working and then add security). The XDA can find the signal, says it is conencted, and then drops it again. I know it's not a range/power issue as they are right beside each other! Can anyone offer me advice on how to get the two devices talking please?
If you want internet on your XDA then just setup Active Sync via Bluetooth or Wifi. (AS 3.x)

Well I'm slightly further on than I was earlier - I have now managed to 'connect' to my laptop but I still cant 'see' the internet through the XDA. I can surf using bluetooth over Active synh but the range is too small so I want to use WiFi. I've run the internet sharing wizard but still no joy - what do I have to do?
i was wondering if there is a way to connect my pc and xda2i wirelessly and then use the grps on my xda to use the net on my pc

interesting, but maybe i should have been a little clearer, what i want to do is connect my xda and pc (ad hoc) then use the grps on my xdai2 to connect to the internet.
havent heard about doing it with wifi before not sure if it's supported but it works ok with bluetooth or usb
i was also wonding if i can connect it to my wii with usb and connect that way using wireless modem? any one tested or had any joy?

Are you trying to setup your phone or laptop for internet?
Sent from my Touchpad using xda premium
why not just connect to home router.. it's much slower for the phone to connect to a laptop, which is connected to router anyways...
