Hello everybody, this seems kinda dumb, but i'm trying about 8 hours straight and I can't figure out what I did wrong:
I uprgaded my O2 ROM to a clean one, after that I configured my ISP and Work Network settings as they were before (O2 - like) to conect via GPRS to the Internet..
well now I can't start the Data Conection!! it's simply deactivated and when I tap on the conection Icon on the screentop it's as if I never configured the GPRS settings.
I was thinking it could have something to do with the "Connections/Advanced/select Networks" settings but I tried every combination there is and still no result !
pleeze help me !!!

Hello,
I'm having problem with GRPS on my Qtek 9000.
All the settings are ok, as they are checked on Nokia/Sony Ericcson/IPAQ
We have 6 Qtek 9000 and they all are having the same problem.
When we setup grps and try to connect with IE it just trying to connect and after wile he tells that he is having some problems.
All sim cards as mentioned up are ok and tested to be working for GRPS, on HP IPAQ 6515 GRPS is tested and working ok.
As we determined it seems like he is not trying even to "dial out", when I setup Cellular line to dialout some phone number that also doesn succeed. We tried also with original ROM and the same problems apper
Any idea what could be the problem???

Not an error message I am familiar with.
This is the error message that I get every time:
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again.
We tried soft reset and hard reset no changes
When have been done one stupid test.
PC speakers when you are connecting with IPAQ you hear the sound on speakers that he is "dialing out"
when you try with qtek nothing as he is even not trying to dial out
Well if your settings are correct and they are entered under the "My ISP" connections and not "My Work Network" and the correct GPRS settings are selected under My ISP->Manage Existing connections. I've no ideas other than to check
Settings->Network Card has My Network Card connects to: the Internet
When I go to:
Settings>Connections>Network Cards>Tab Network adapters
My network card connects to:
The Internet
Tap an adapter to modify ....
Do I need to change something from these settings????
---------------
UPDATE:
When I changed to:
My network card connects to:
Work
Applyed and soft reset
I got the G sign but still no sucess to connect
No it should be internet.
Have you checked that under Settings->Connections->Manage Existing Connections that the correct operator is selected if you have more than one set of GPRS settings.
Do you know if your network uses PAP or CHAP if not try changing to the other one under Settings->Connections->GPRS Setting
Have you tried a 3G sim ?
Other than that nothing I can suggest.
Good luck
When I perform hard reset
Is says work and now i changed to The internet
Well the settings are tryed on the phone and IPAQ everything work well
3G+ Bosnia = NOT GONNA HAPPEN IN 100 years
Authentication is PAP
and there is no username and password nor domain name
Hi,
I have had a search to see if this has been covered before but maybe I am using the wrong query.
I have an O2 Exec with the latest O2 Rom, and now when I do an email send and receive, the GPRS connection stays up. Whereas I could have sworn in the earlier ROM it disconnected after the send/receive.
I spoke to O2 and they assured me that it is supposed to do that, and since I only get charged for actaul data transfer, I can sit connected to GPRS all day for free (is this correct).
Now, my main question is. Say GPRS is up and connected, and I turn on WIFI or plug into my PC using the charger/sync cable and then do a send and receive. Will the Exec use these free connections or still route data over the GPRS?
I did a test and it looked as though when I did this, the GPRS connection was shut down, as after a send/receive and then disable WIFI, the connection setting showed a large U and not the connected icon.
I am now sitting with a GPRS connection active, email is set to manual and I have Pocket Weather set to 'Auto update on connection' and 'Auto update on Active Sync', but 'Use connection manager' is disabled as is 'Force a connect when not available'.
Should this mean that no data is used at all and that I can sit connected at no cost.
Sorry for the long rambling post, but I am a complete newbie to all this GPRS pda thing.
regards,
/Mad
related question - how to stop gprs connecting automatically
My wifi router at home is dodgy and sometimes the signal drops - this means my exec switches over automatically to GPRS (I'm not in a 3G area) and starts whacking up a big data bill before I realise. Is there anyway of getting it to ask me if I want to connect to GPRS - rather than it just telling me thats what its doing? Can't turn the phone off cos I still need to receive calls.
I did think of just scarmbling my connection settings, but now I've upgraded to the latest O2 rom the connections settings page does not show any existing connections! (I also can't get TomTom to run at all now but I guess I'll work through that one :-( )
Thanks,
John
I believe this is what you are looking for. Y
ou can set which connections programs use for thier internet access in Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced, Select Networks.
Choosing My Work Network or My ISP should stop programs sucking up your money.
Thanks PReDiToR I've tried that but it then gives me a 'cannot connect' popup instead of using the wifi - it seems as if there has to be an accessible gprs connection for it to ignore before it will try wifi :-o
What does everyone else do? Maybe you're all rich or the company pays for your data?
Thanks
Any luck yet with the GPRS / WiFi issue?? I have got the sam

Derrr...
EDIT: Hey I've just read what I've written below and its exavctly what Preditor suggested - funny didn't work when I tried ........ I guess it was because I was trying 'My ISP' without gprs settings - which complained - whereas 'My Work Network' without gprs settings allows the wifi to connect ... :?
I've now got a workaround for this - means going through the menus every time I DO want GPRS data - but thats rare till I get a better contract which will have to wait till my 12 months with O2 is up in November.. web'n'walk sounds good - unlimited gprs :-o - (could T-Mobile really tell when I was using my XDa as a modem for my laptop - which is forbidden in the terms of this contarct - and when I was just usng data for its own programs - which is allowed ??)
Anyway what I do is settings>connections>advanced>Select Networks> choose My Work Network for programs connecting to the internet. I have no gprs settings in My Work Network but it connects to wifi no problem.
So when I forget and I'm out of wifi range I get an error that it can't connect, so change the setting back to 'MY ISP' and GPRS kicks in.
A Today Screen shortcut to the Network Management screen would help - but I'm almost always using wifi so I haven't bothered.
John
Hi
I apologise in advance because I'm sure my problem is simply solved but I;ve not used the XDa for a while and I'm back to square 1. I have tried searching for the anser but I think my question is just to basic.
My XDA2 is unlocked and I use a T-Mobile sim in it. The problem I have is with the TOMTOM. When i try to update traffic info on the fly I get a message saying modem hung up (or something similar). It works fine when connecting via the cradle and my PC.
Now I think this is because the XDA2 is trying to connect using the O2 settings when I am on the road.
So my question is how do enter and then I get the XDA2 to use the T-Mobile settings?
EDIT: Sorry forgot to say so far I have done the following:
Start
settings
connections
Add new modem connection
enrtered T-Mobile
selected cellular line (GPRS)
entered access point as general.t-mobile.uk
user name as user
password as wap
Ok and update
seems it is connecting after all. Problem is I have to connect via GPRS first then up date the traffic. It's not picking up the connection if I just update direct from TomTom
any ideas?
I don't think you can do much about that, cause the tomtom, must automatically try to establish the GPRS connection.. like Internet Explorer does, it automatically checks if you have GPRS or Wi-fi connection, if not connected for you automatically. after reading your post. it does not start your GPRS connection, have you look into the settings of the tomtom, to see if he has an option that you can let it connect through your GPRS automatically?
Once I tried to connect the free wifi on Atlanta airport. Since then my ATT 8525 randomly displays this message "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network.
Just FYI, I do not ATT internet subscription.
I can receive text messages and calls as usual but today when I tried to sync my phone with my laptop, it gave errors like make Outlook express as your default mail server.
I cannot sync my phone to my laptop which was possible until I started getting the GPRS messages.
Please help me.
Check your selected network and see by changing it to correct network settings. I am not sure if it is going to resolve your problem or not.
I'm having the same problem.
I do not have a GPRS service.
I do not need it because i use WIFI.
Can i make wifi my only data connection with the HD2?
thnx
go to settings>connections>connections
the touch manage connections and delete the default tmobile gprs setting by touching it and holding til delete come up.
Just fyi,
I was facing this problem, and iiodii's solution worked fine, or simply :
Go to settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks >
Check both options to 'My Work Network' or any network other than your Mobile provider connection.
An advise "Just for users who will reach this topic" (I did through Google )
This didn't work. I'm having the same problem: GPRS not working when I try to send/receive MMS, and it all started after I started using wifi. Should I flash the radio?
I have Hermes 200- two years ago I had the same problem-this is what I did: went to the WIKI and downloaded "network settings" for my phone (cab) and loaded directly to my phone, soft reseted and that was it. Savy!?!!
sorry to hear that.good luck to u .
Go to phone and then menu and then options and go to BAND, don't choose auto but chose GSM OR CDMA both of them. Hope it will help all of you.
Hi I need help. I tried everything, I guess, but still my 3G and HSDPA is not connecting to internet, my GPRS does. Though my network provider said that GPRS setting is same as the setting for 3g, I cannot connect. I made many times to auto-configure my connections using the default app of my WM6.5, it is still the same. Anybody have the solution?
Thanks in advance!
possible fix
I dont know if this will help but i had the same problem when i first upgraded to wm 6.5 but as im on a different network it may not
.
This is how i managed to fix this problem.
First i had to hardreset my phone.
then When the automatic connection setting setup menu appeared i pressed no and then disable.
I then entered the setting my provider gave me manually, in the connections option on the setting menu.
And HSDPA worked.
Like i said that how i had to fix my phone.
If i use automatic coonection setup no matter what i do after that i cant use HSDPA.
Hope this help
