Strange GRPS problem with Qtek9000 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello,
I'm having problem with GRPS on my Qtek 9000.
All the settings are ok, as they are checked on Nokia/Sony Ericcson/IPAQ
We have 6 Qtek 9000 and they all are having the same problem.
When we setup grps and try to connect with IE it just trying to connect and after wile he tells that he is having some problems.
All sim cards as mentioned up are ok and tested to be working for GRPS, on HP IPAQ 6515 GRPS is tested and working ok.
As we determined it seems like he is not trying even to "dial out", when I setup Cellular line to dialout some phone number that also doesn succeed. We tried also with original ROM and the same problems apper
Any idea what could be the problem???

Not an error message I am familiar with.

This is the error message that I get every time:
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again.
We tried soft reset and hard reset no changes
When have been done one stupid test.
PC speakers when you are connecting with IPAQ you hear the sound on speakers that he is "dialing out"
when you try with qtek nothing as he is even not trying to dial out

Well if your settings are correct and they are entered under the "My ISP" connections and not "My Work Network" and the correct GPRS settings are selected under My ISP->Manage Existing connections. I've no ideas other than to check
Settings->Network Card has My Network Card connects to: the Internet

When I go to:
Settings>Connections>Network Cards>Tab Network adapters
My network card connects to:
The Internet
Tap an adapter to modify ....
Do I need to change something from these settings????
---------------
UPDATE:
When I changed to:
My network card connects to:
Work
Applyed and soft reset
I got the G sign but still no sucess to connect

No it should be internet.
Have you checked that under Settings->Connections->Manage Existing Connections that the correct operator is selected if you have more than one set of GPRS settings.
Do you know if your network uses PAP or CHAP if not try changing to the other one under Settings->Connections->GPRS Setting
Have you tried a 3G sim ?
Other than that nothing I can suggest.
Good luck

When I perform hard reset
Is says work and now i changed to The internet
Well the settings are tryed on the phone and IPAQ everything work well
3G+ Bosnia = NOT GONNA HAPPEN IN 100 years

Authentication is PAP
and there is no username and password nor domain name

WiFi connects but fails on "Locate"

Hi,
I've just got a T-Mobile Vario. It connects fine on GPRS and PIE navigates to web pages.
I then try to connect to a free WiFi hotspot (I have no home wifi network to test on).
It *connects* fine. However, when I try to navigate to a web page it hangs on the "Locate" message, then times out.
I have searched the forum and read similar problems but with home networks not public hotspots- for example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46118
I tried the solutions suggested there but with no luck. Has anyone had similar problems?
I *really* need to get WiFi working (by the end of the weekend hopefully) as thats what I got the device for in the first place.
I am a WiFi virgin so any pointers will help.
ipl 1.06
spl 1.06
gsm 1.12.10
os 1.6.2.4
protocol version 4.0.13.23
ExtROM 1.6.2.105
Cingular 8125 WiFi fails
I have the same results. My router assigns my device an IP address with WiFi on, but I get the message "...the connection was lost." whenever I try to surf internet. If anyone understands how to set it up, we'd appreciate instruction that works (I'd like a Cingular user if possible) but I would also like to learn what the settings mean. Anyone have a link to network setup information? I have a WiFi network in my home which works for my wife's laptop and my old PDA. This 8125 is bugging me.
working now...
OK, as soon as I posted and went back to the PDA the WiFi connection now works - gremlins again... I didn't change anything or even soft reset - it just connected. I wonder if it was because the GPRS connection ended... I'll try turning off my automatic e-mail checking and post again. BTW, I am using the suggestion of the first Network being "work - no proxy" and the second being "MediaNet - proxy"
Your problem doesn't seem the same as mine.
I have no home network.
My vario, on a public hotspot, always "connects" but always fails on "locate".
you need to make sure the connection is not using a proxy server.
go into settings
connections
then manage existing connections
untick the checkbox on the proxy settings tab that says this connection uses a proxy (or words to that effect)
now you should be able to connect to the network as long as their is no security in place to stop you.
good luck
R
Hi,
I have no "manage existing connections"
under settings->connections.
I go into connections which gives <tasks> and <Advanced> tabs
Under Advanced> I have <select networks>
This screen "Network Management" has two drop downs
1 states "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using"
"T-Mobile Internet" is selected
If I edit and look at proxy settings it has:
"This network connects to the internet" ticked
the proxy server box is empty
If I edit the modem tab it has Cellular Line (GPRS) selected
Dropdown 2 has
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:
the dropdown is filled with "My Work Network"
By default the "connects to the internet" box is empty. I have filled this in previously with no luck.
Modem is empty as are all the other entries.
I have swapped the order of the dropdowns, I have made both "My Work network" and both "T-Mobile Internet" with no luck.
I have tried the suggestions on the thread I referenced above - again with no luck.
To repeat I can get the "connection" up. When I select the network it states connection is "good" yet when I try to surf to a page it craps out on the "Locate" message.
Is it failing to find a DNS server on the wifi link?
I'm just guessing as I know v little about WiFi as I have never used it before
TIA for any further contributions
I just wanted to say I have this same problem and have not been able to solve it yet. I can't tell whether to use GPRS while using Internet, or whether I should have the connection set to "Work" or "Internet" or what.
I have tried with 3 unprotected wireless networks already and have gotten the same results with each. I suspect it may be due to DNS. Hopefully it is not the phone itself.
Hi mat,
Well it can't be that you *must* use GPRS whilst surfing - thats what WIFI is for!
I suspect (no real evidence)T-Mobile have somehow crippled the OS to make it difficult to work out how to get free hotspot access working properly. Looking at their site they say CS do not "support" WIFI access problems - how convenient!!!!!
Although I am a WIFI virgin/idiot, I am not a *total* idiot and would have been able to get it working if it was completely straightforward.
To add ammunition to this opinion, I do not have a T-Zone account (I should have but it hasn't been set up correctly). Anyway I tried to connect though a t-zone and it worked straightaway presenting me with the login page. I could also download data - the terms and conditions.
However, obviously I couldn't surf to totally check it out as I couldn't login.
I wish someone would provide a definitive solution as it is really irritating me now!!!!!
Why would it be hanging on "locate"? I imagine it must be because it cannot look up the IP address through the free WIFI link. I made the same suggestion as you did earlier something to do with the DNS setup.
Thats as far as I can get!!!!!

WiFi I get an IP address but cannot connect

Hello,
I have a strange problem, my WiFi connection works perfect at home with a Dlink router and in the office with a Netgear DG834GT I cannot get it to work.
I have tried all the basics such as reseting the router to its basic settings but I cannot get there. My SPV M600 receives an IP address as I can see in the WiFi advanced tab of the WiFi settings but the WiFi icon with the two arrows in the top of the screen continues to move and it just does not connect.
I tried the following registry tweeks found in the forum but nothing:
HKLM/Comm/TNETWLN1/Parms/
dot11SupportedRateMask=1
dot11SupportedRateMaskG=8
Any help welcome,
Thanks
please check that no HTTP or WAP proxy is in use by going to
start>settings>connections tab>connections icon>Manage proxy server
and uncheck "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
hope this helps.
Thanks but I checked that and there is no proxy.
I am seeing the same problem as well
I used to have my wifi working and then I did a hard reset to restore my phone to its original Cingular 8125 condition and after that I am seeing the same problem. I compared all the settings under Connections with that of my colleague's and his works whereas mine doesn't. The only difference maybe is that mine is unlocked using the unlocking tool. But, before the reset, mine was working.

SPV M3100 (TyTn). WiFi wont connect to my router.

I have a SPV M3100 (TyTn, I think) but I cant get it to connect using WiFi to my wireless router. I can go into 'Configure Wireless Networks' and tell it to connect to my router, all the settings are correct, but all it does is try to connect and fail, and no error message comes up.
Does anyone know how I could fix this problem?
Thanks,
Sebastian
it might help if you state what rom your are using and what protection the router is using? I know there are many threads discussing this issue with WM6 using WPA. Have you tried connecting with no encryption? If so can you connect.
Sorry, the ROM version is: 1.23.61.4, date: 7/13/06
It is running WM5 PocketPC. Encryption is WEP. No I havent tried no encryption. I will after when I get home.
Sebastian
OK, I've tried without encryption, and I've fiddled about with the settings but it still doesn't work.
Each time I tell it to connect it says 'Connecting' for about a second then says 'Unavailable' for a few seconds, then back to 'Available', untill I next tell it to connect.
Any suggestions?
thanks,
sebastian
if it use mac filtering the mac of the tytn need to be added to the lists of mac's the router wanna talk to
that's not the problem either, sorry
Couple of things (I'm running WM6 on my M3100, so WM5 is a bit of distant memory ) you could look at.....
First, does your router use DHCP to issue IP addresses? if not, you'll need to set the phone with a static IP. To do that, go to Start / Settings / Connections tab / Wi-Fi / Network adapters tab, make sure it says "connect to the internet" then tap the "802.11" network adapter, tap "use specific ip address", fill one in and "ok" your way back out.
Second, in Start / Settings / Connections tab / Wi-Fi / Wireless tab, tap and hold your "unavailable" wireless connection then choose Edit. Make sure the "connects to" box says Internet. Also, if your router doesn't broadcast its' SSID, (on WM6 at least) tick the box that says "this is a hidden network", then go next, next finish (making sure the authentication and encryption types match your router config!!).
Hope this helps,
Mark.
I have now been through every intricate detail within settings, and still to no avail. One (possibly) good thing did come out of it though - an error message.
I got it when going to create a new WiFi connection and clicking on the 802.1x tab, it says:
"Cannot log on to the wireless network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you."
I made sure I inputted the network key correctly and all the encryption settings were right.
Please tell me that helps solve the problem! lol
btw, the router is a D-Link DSL-604+, just incase that helps anybody solve the problem.
sebastian
If you're getting certificate errors, it sounds as though you've ticked the setting in the phone's wireless config that says something like "IEEE 802.1x network access" and selected "smart card or certificate".
Go back in to the wireless config, tap and hold the "unavailable" network, then select Edit. Go through - next, next and the authentication is on the last page IIRC.....just untick the box, tap finish and you should be away!!
Cheers,
Mark.
It WORKS!!
I forgot to untick 'The network key is automatically provided' and tried to connect, and it now works
I'll just kiss goodbye to my battery life now
Thanks for everyone who has helped me.
Sebastian
My ATT Tilt wont connect to my D-Link Wireless N Router.. does the Tilt not work on N routers?

MDA connects to GPRS only when synced...weird

Woke up in the morning and found MDA unable to connect via GPRS... keeps trying but cant connect.
-Checked ALL the settings
-Soft Reset/ Took Battery Out/ Took sim card out
-Hard reset
WILL NOT CONNECT TO GPRS
but connects to the net and am able to connect and check mail when connected to my PC via active sync...
can someone explain this to me...
T-mobile MDA support told me to have sim card tested at local store in another device...
please help
i would check if settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network
was set to my ips or something to that effect
could be that your isp use it's name as setting or something
if it's set to my network or something like that it will only use activesync as connection
it's set to Tmobile data....
I've got the same trouble with my HERMES200...
my operator is Tele2 Russia
other operators work fine
just switching apn from internet.tele2.ru to other right for oher operator...
If there hidden registry keys for modem configuration?
P.S. icq clients are working!!! and some sites like www.yandex.ru & tele2.ru
its very strange...
on other phones my simcard works great with gprs!
P.P.S. Sorry for my english

IE on WiFI DONT WORK

Please help me ..My Kaiser connect to my home wi-fi with no problem .. But when i want to go to google or any other site it say's: "The Page cannot be found. Check the name and try again" .. But if I use GPRS (G3) everything work just fine .. i can go to any site i want .. Someone ???
ok guys .. I found that the problem is not on Kaiser or in IE but in my settings on ruter... I went to the town and connect to free wifi there .. And IE WORK with no problem .. i didn't find out yet where exactly is the problem and what am I suppost to do ... But if i do .. I'll posted here = )
a few things to test:
maybe your homenetwork requires that you configure a proxy. did you varify your proxy settings from connections
try this. go to settings->connections->connections->advanced tab-select network. create a new profile with the new button with the correct proxy setting.
set both profiles to this newly created profile. exit and enable wifi and try again.
--------------
also, if you connect the ppc to a pc that connects fine to the wifi network using activesync can you browse?
but i don't have any proxy settings in my router configuration .. I'll like to have wireless connection to my Kaiser .. this is pritty much why i buy it .. Because of WiFi option .. and qwertz afkors = ) meybi i will went to town again and ask there where i connect to internet what kind of setting do they have = )
you check for proxy on your kaiser not router
let me say that again. i want you to test two things to trubleshoot your problem.
1- get a laptop that connects to your wifi. install activesync and see if you can also see the network from your kaiser
2-also double check your Kiser proxy configuration (my first post) are they correct?
do these two things and report back
emm but i don't know what to write in proxy settings ..
dude, do you have a pc or laptop that can connect to the same network??????!! if so, make sure that you are using the same network settings on your ppc(proxy, dhcp or static IP addresses...etc)
most of the times the proxy settings need to be empty
I had that problem with my 02 XDA EXEC. I had to do a hard reset to get it to work. However a hard reset broke my MMS settings, so make sure you have backed up all your data and are willing to search for those settings. joemanb on this forum has a great set of CABs for the Universal, make sure you have something similar for your phone before hand.
I don't have any prokxy settings .. and hard reset don't help ether .. :S
maxi you still didnt report on two things i asked you to do
- can you connect the phone using activesync
- on the laptop that works, is the ip setup to be automatic (dhcp) or static. please make sure you do the same on your phone
also when you connect to the wifi network it should ask you to select internet or work. select internet. see if that changes anything
em i have a problem with activesync because Im a mac user and my mac don't recognize kaiser ... so i can't do that right now ..
I'm a new Kaiser user.
There's a network near home that is free to use.
On PC (WinXP Pro SP2), the network can be connected (albeit unstable), and all are set to be DHCP. When browsing started, it'll prompt for the hotspot name/pswd which I have and could be used.
I tried using the Kaiser and on WIFI setup, click that to connect. After several tries, it just go back to 'available' status instead of connected. Is there any setting I need to do? If I check the WLAN (still under Setting), it shows not connected (which is obvious)
On the tips/suggestion on using ActiveSync, do I connect the PC to the WIFI, then use the Kaiser over WIFI to ActiveSync? If yes, I'll try that and report back.
Update 02/11/2009:
Now it works after I did a refresh of the O/S (Setting -> Empty Folder or something like that, sorry, I don't remember). It default back the phone to factory and since then it works. Now question: why it didn't work out of the box?
the problem was in router. i get a new one now and it works like a charm = )
