Or get a spv M3100 with orange on dolphin 19 with £10 cashback every month(which i can buy some data or a package) thus only £9 line rental and free handset. Both are 18 months contract. Which represents the best value and which package would you guys reccommend I go for??

depends on what you are going to be using the device for.
If Data (web, email, etc) is the main driver then go for the Tmob as this is unlimited data use. Orange aren't great for Data costs and that might penalise you in the long run. Never used Dolphin but a mate used to work for them and they were a shambles....

I like the VARIO II because of the Looks!

Hi mate this was a special offer due to the fact that i've been with them for a few years and my bills have been quite high never below £60 and I threatened them with leaving for T-Mob.

Hi mate, well thats just it, I dont really know exactly how much data i'l be using. Admittedly the first month or couple of months I'l probably bash it good a a novelty, but when the novelty factor wears off............ dont really know it'l be email, ebay a maybe the odd bit of browsing I think.
For the price I think the SPV cant be beaten, but the data is the only snag, not just the amount of data but the speed too... until orange decide to release HSPDA in the uk. I'm aware they're testing it out in France.

Orange M1000 or O2 XDAII any advice recommended????

Can anyone provide any advice. I already own an O2 XDA1 unlocked running on TMobile. I want to upgrade to a new phone but can't make my mind up between the Orange M1000 or the O2 XDAII. I realise that under the covers they are both the same phone and I suppose network coverage may vary. Is there any advice on what is the better option O2 or Orange? Is there any major differences on the ROMs of each phone. I think the Orange phone comes with a spare battery, different fascia etc. I was wondering if O2 or Orange have any differences when it comes to add ons upgrades, additional extras etc. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks John
I've got the M1000 and am very happy with it. It came with a spare battery, case and wired handsfree. You can get it for about £100 in Orange shops just now but be quick, this is almost certainly due to the imminent release of the M2000.
Orange coverage is good and Orange will match any competitors tarrif. You can trade in any old handset instore and get £50 back as well as get a friend to recomend you and get another £50 (if you don't know anyone on Orange I'll give you my number quite happily).
Basically I'm a very happpy Orange customer, so is my girlfriend and much of my family.
our company has around 30 M1000's ,
there no better/worse off than the o2 xdaII, its upto you really on the tarrif that would be best for you, but nothing really different between the models,
what tarrif are most of your friends/family/work on etc,
we were close to going with o2 but orange offered us all the m1000's fir free in a 2year contract so we couldnt complain with that,
just have a big long chat with the operators and see how much discounts you can get off em
regards,
Thanks Guys what about surfing the net etc is this included in your monthly tariff. Is it expensive to do this ?
Thanks John

were on a business tarrif that includes about 8MB of data (we use exchange activesync and a signature capture webservice)
my own personal tarrif is around 30/month, 200 minutes anytime/anynetwork, 4mb gprs, 500txt msgs, its never been over 30 so im happy with that.
Hi DJRM can you explain your personnel tarif to me. I realise what 200 anytime/anynetwork is and 500 txt msgs but not sure is 30 a month 30GB and why the 4MB gprs. I don't really understand/know about this side of things and did this come with the tariff as this looks pretty expensive??
Thanks John

sorry,
£30 per month inc VAT for 4MB of gprs / 200minutes & 500txt.
it was a tarrif/deal that i have used for almost 2 years, talk to orange personnally and explain exaclty what you need and how much you would expect to pay for it and you might get lucky.
the reason for my gprs is i use this to connect to our companys exchange server, unless your using activesyn then i doubt you would need this much.
i wouldnt say its expensove, i know people with worse of tarrifs that are alot more expensive and even some pay as you talk users who spend more a month!,
again it depends on how much you use your fun and what the primary function you use (eg txt more than voice)
Thanks DJRM I'll see what I can do. But lucky if I spend a tenner a month on calls and send about 25-30 txts. I'll see what deals I can get. Thanks again John

O2 UK Great Pricing error.

Get them while there hot again, O2 stores have got an error on there POS system, which they are not able to correct untill Friday, consequently, you can get a new XDA Mini S (HTC Wizard) for only £79.99 on whatever Tarif you want, including the low price base ones, got my two upgrades free but with a £50:00 trade in of a crap old nokia got myself a third for £29.99 and an additional £7:95.
So I am now the proud owner of 3 HTC Wizards which cost me in total the princeley some of £29.99.
So don't miss out get down to the UK O2 shops with your crappy old trade inns now before they get the system fixed.
Thanks Chaps,
Regards Ash'e
Is this right? You can buy a non contract wizard for £80?
I'd be interested in one for development...

Hi - what did you have to supply to get the £50 trade in - just phone or other bits of kit?

No, he said on whatever tariff you like, so probably 10 or 15 quid a month and 79 quid outlay initially.
Blimey, if I'd have known that I'd have stuck with o2. Ah well, never mind, T-Mobile seems fairly good and cheap...
Trade Whatever you want
Hey Guys
you can trade in whatever phone you like, as long as it boots and as long as you have its charger.
Then you get £50.00 back taken of the £79.99 leaving you with just £29.99 to pay (bargain) but here the really good part, untill the end of the week you can put it on any tarrif you want including the low band ones starting at £16:00 a month. But hurry chaps they won't let this keep going on for long.
Best Regards - Ash'e
As an Added Bonus
Oh & forgot to mention as an added bonus O2 are also offering DOUBLE MINUTES & TEXTS for SIX MONTHS on all UPGRADES & NEW CONNECTIONS (BONUS SCORE)
Regards Ash'e
PS - (Can you really go wrong chaps considering the real value of the Wizard)
(& Think of what the other poor sods in the rest of Europe have to pay.)
(Now if we could only get an I-Mode browser for the wizard to take advantage of O2 great new service, Still I live in hope, O2 I-Mode is totally free till the first of January & I-Mail is Totally Free till April 2006 eclusive to O2).
This poor sod is on T-Mobile netherlands and paid 110 euro for a 1 year 150 minutes (21 euro a month) contract renewal...
That sucks for me. Because i have an online contract, i can't take advantage of any of these deals.
The upgrade centre don't even have the XDA mini on their systems yet!!
So angry
Just tried this on in my local O2 highstreet store and they wouldn't do it. They basicaly said 'thats obviosuly an error, f**k off'.
Oh well, at least I tried...
I called O2 for an upgrade and they said I could have the Mini S for free or the Exec for £150.
Yep - got my XDA mini with O2 - lowest tariff, traded in a broken mobile.
Scott
Where have you had sucess doing this? I tried a shop in central london and the guy wasn't having it at all!
Hmmm. I need to look for a discount airfare r/t over there. LOL
low airfare.
well, new york london for only £120 check cheapflights.com
ehehehe
Geez, I haven't been into UK since I bought my nickel plated, Metisse framed, two barreled weber carburated, side hack mounted Trumpet...and then left my wife and kids in the hotel to ride it back to Germany...in November. LOL
Man, those were the days..197?
Check out This

to compare O2 plans and how much you will end up paying if bought online
and this for T-Mobile
http://www.mobileswizard.co.uk/display.asp?hs=mdav&tariff=none
I like the info on the right saying "Min Term Cost"
gives you and idea of how much you will end up paying.
Still the tradein offer (if you get in 25 quid) is cheaper making it. £217)
Or even if you dont get trade in and have an offline tarif for £16 you will be paying £291.
Think anyone can beat that??????
let me know I am after the phone.
Call O2 Store Uxbridge
Just got mine yesterday form the O2 Store in Uxbridge, payed a grand total of £29:99 for it on upgrade, on my low tarif asked the same deal is available on new contracts, if you don't believe me call the store on (01895) 252163 ask for Greg (Nice Aussied Chap) and you will see. That other O2 store is talking BS,
Regards Ash'e
Well Done, just been down to O2 in Bath, got mine on O2 25 £16 per month, all the staff have bought one this morning as well. traded in crappy old sony phone. bye bye exec..
Richard
i just got an 02exec with a 19pound per month plan ...
is there a way to get the wizard for 29 pound only without signing up for more months?
what is an upgrade? i dont get it...
thanks

What is the cheapest way to get a Universal in the UK?

Hi All
I just missed out on the O2 £162 offer
So I am looking to see if there are any other cheap offers, I am not bothered by the monthly part as I will use my work SIM.
Any ideas
Regards
ben
Still maybe 02 online at £149 and £19 per month for 50 xnet mins and 200 texts. 12 month contract.
Thats what I got my wizard on although the wizard was only £99.
So the exec works out at £377
You might get one cheaper on T Mobile but it may be one of those sending your bills in and you get a cheque back type deals.
In fact there is a website that will give you the total outlay for any phone with all networks. Forget the addy though.
I would be very interested in that website roader :-D
Shame about missing the amazing Data 5 deal.. I would've done that :-(
You could maybe go for that online offer and change your tariff to the lowest available after 6 months if you're not planning to use the sim
got a few simfree ones here in any1 wants, pick up in south london, looking for £400 each (got 3)
Hi,
Got my O2 Exec for free.
What you need to do is
A) Get your daughter who is on o2max to get a free upgrade and give it to you for christmas.
B) Put your 3 sim card in it out of your Nokia 6630
C) In return you take out a contract on o2 online at £19 for 100 mins and give the new free Samsung 730 phone/bluetooth headset/Samsung printer to your daughter for Christmas.
D) Put the new o2 sim in an old Nokia 6600 and give to wifey.
E) Sell your 6 month old Nokia 6630 on ebay, hopefully.
Result - everyone happy. Thanks o2
Cost so far £19/month for wifes contract.
Happy new year everyone.
John

Hi SiliconS,
My daughter keeps her old sim on O2max(100mins) with the Samsung I bought and my wife gets 100Mins on my old 6600. No way can my daughter manage with 1000mins. part of the deal when she upgraded was to get double mins for 6 months ie 2000 mins. She is a bit of a yakker. Wife does not know how to use a mobile and will probably use 20mins max.
Whilst I am on, must say what a great site. Already baught Pocketbreeze 5 and iLauncher. Trying out pocket weather now.
John
Go for Pocket Plus too. Pocket Breeze and Pocket Plus together are making my Exec sooo much more user friendly and are fixing most of the things that are annoying in Windows Mobile.

Dilema

Hi guys and gals - I really want to get the Touch HD as my next phone (first smart phone). My contract with O2 ends at the end of June but i can get an upgrade as of 20th May.
I would like to stay with O2 as the coverage is excellent in my area but am open to changing networks if I have to. I see that mobiles.co.uk are doing some good things for the HD on O2.
Would mobiles upgrade me through O2 if i changed my tariff to a 24 month?
I really want to get this phone asap as it looks the mutts nuts.
Any input would be cool.
Thanks
As far as I know from my experience with Orange you can only upgrade once you are about 3 months from the end of your contract...anything earlier will be possible but you'll be charged extra.
The best thing to do is call mobiles.co.uk and they can check and tell you

I want to get the phone for free so paying £500+ is not an option really and the tariffs on there are not that appealing to be honest.

Of course I wasn't suggesting you pay £500! it's FREE or heavily discounted with various tariffs, but yes I understand if they aren't offering the right tariff for you...
Thanks for your reply, I had not thought of that site before.

Best deal in UK for HD2?

Hi
I am currently trying to find the best deal in the UK for the HD2. I dont really want to pay more than £30 a month, and hence am happy to a point to pay some money upfront.
So far, I think its mobile phones direct, with t-mobile combi 30 with web and walk over 18 months. I just have to pay £54.99 up front plus I can get £30 cashback off topcashback.
I wondered though if anyone gas found a better deal?
I tried o2, and even with a open discount I have through my work, I have to stump up alot of money. Vodafone deals dont seem so great.
Thoughts?
Scott
Im doing expansys and then simplicity, it's cheaper in the end!
Buying direct from T-Mobile may be a good option. I've found that if you ring them up you can usually get better terms than they advertise on their website. I've just ordered an HD2 from them; £36 a month for 18 months, but the phone is free, and that includes 1000 minutes, 500 texts, and their Web'n'walk Plus internet service (which has a 3GB per month limit rather than the standard 1, and permits tethering). If I'd gone with the standard Web'n'walk package I could have got unlimited texts.
And I'm not very good at haggling - you could probably get a better deal than I did!
I'm on an 18 Month contract with o2 35 a month
600 mins
1000 texts
unlimited 3G internet
95 for the phone
@onisuk, was that through the carphone warehouse though?

Thanks for the heads up on the topcashback Scott - Tmobile are really gonna have to take a beating to match this when I come to upgrade from my Diamond (MDA IV)!!!
I'll be offloading the Diamond to Mazuma too - £103 cash or £113 in Argos vouchers. Probably easier than TeaBAy!

But it's not on their site!? I'm very confused how to find out where to buy it, my iPhone is out of contract in a couple of days and so not sure to hold out and see if they can give me a better deal with the phone rather than haggling over simplicity!
they're available to existing customers, just call up o2 and speak to upgrades or retentions. It probs won't be available for new customers for a while so won't be on the website for a while.
Hope that helps!
