Does anybody know how to keep the contact filter locked to the last used?
For instance, when I filter my contacts I select "Friends" as the category. However, when I close the phone app and return later, it swithces back to "All Contacts" filter/category.
It becomes annoying to constantly select the filter.
Can somebody help, please?
I would like an answere to this as well.

Hi,
Is there a way to send an sms to all contacts?
Also how do you select multipe contacts for messaging - do you really have to do one contact at a time as I have been doing, or can you "mark" multiple contacts?
Cheers.
In the list of Recipient type the contacts following bij a semicolon.
for example:
contact1; contact2; contact3 etc
Hi, same thing here. Do you get a "check names" option in the forward message opiton box that doesn't do anything? Is there any way of adding a check box to the contacts menu? Would be nice. I've searched the whole forum and can't find any answers. Search brings up no matches either.
Thanks.
I dont know about 'all', but multiples are easy, just keep clicking the To button and selecting your contacts from the contactlist (one at a time).. A checkbox would have been neater tho.
Try google for Group SMS. It lets you list your contacts by category, and checkbox those you wish to SMS to.
I'm sure I had that one. If anyone finds it, please post a link.
I have catagories set up, why can't I just text a catagory and it messages them all..
Eaglesteve! Searched as you said and installed Groupsms. Works great.
Cheers and thank you.
Anybody figure out how to assign individual ringtones to different contact? I don't see an option for it.
I'm stuck on that too
I just found the fix, over on Android Forums. Apparently, you can't assign ringtones to your google contacts. You have to create a duplicate "phone" contact, and then you can assign a ringtone. A bunch of horse $hit, if you ask me, but that's what I'm in the process of doing at this very moment.

I agree. I've also been joining Google contacts to FB contacts to get pictures.
On the other hand, so far I haven't had a single problem that CM6 wouldn't cure! (Or at least a nice AOSP FroYo)
Seems there ought to be a way to have your Google contacts sync directly to the phone, instead of that bizarro "Google contacts" group.
Are you guys sure? I can set it by going to the contact, clicking the menu soft-key and choosing Edit - then Ringtone.
I've also found "Ringo Lite" works just fine to do the same.
I'm sure this is not a phone contact I've done this on.

Yup, sure of it. Just double checked, A contact which has he "g" icon next to it doesn't have the "ringtone" field. On the other hand, the little orange icon (phone) does have it.
I also checked out Ringo Lite and it seems to be the easiest and best alternative for the time being.
assigning ringtones to contacts
I use the app Zedge, which is great for notifications and ringtones... it will allow you to "set" contact tones after you download them..
Hi, since upgrading my Xperia to 2.1 I've notice something really annoying and all I want is for it to STOP!!!
Has anyone noticed whenever they sign into their google/twitter/faceache account the mobile's automatically sync's it's contacts? However instead of updating the outdated information with recent edits (either online or on the handset) it adds to it!! Often leaving a single entry with multiple parts (if you get what I mean) and multiple copies of the same address, number, email and notes in a single contact.
Does anyone here a solution to this?
I just want it to bleedin' STOP!!!
It's sooooo damn bloody annoying!!
I like the mobile contact list to remain the same, unaltered by it's software sync utility yet I like my emails to be pushed... So far, I've played with the phone till i'm completely stressed, only to achieve nothing!
STOP SYNCING my contacts!!!!
ALSO...
Where's the option to have assign different colour flashing LED status, for various types of notifications?
i.e.
Green - missed call
Blue - new sms
Orange - new email... etc...
Did you try going to the "Sync Settings" and turning off Sync? Menu button on the contacts list, go to "Account & Sync Settings" and uncheck "Sync Contacts" ?
when opening facebook on the settings you can disable the updates

I use Blink, its free in the market and works fine
I seem to remember on most of my old phones going right back to some old basic Nokias, there was an option in the profile settings that said something like 'alert for'
which was usually set to 'all calls' but you could go in and select contacts groups, and then you would only be alerted for contacts within the selected groups. This was very useful, but I can't find any such feature anywhere on my HD2, is it possible, either direct with the HD2 or via something like CHT?
I've no idea but its simple to have different ring/text/email tones that should sort your problem out
I noticed the default Email application (with the yellow icon) has been updated. I now see icons representing the name of the contact, similar interface to Gmail, etc. One thing I thought I remember reading about was message threading. This doesn't seem to be working though. Each email I with the same subject (just replies) is continuing to be put in a separate thread/email item. Is there an option I am missing that will enable threading? Sure, it's not a huge disappointment, but I figured with this many years under its belt, the default Email app would allow threading of messages. My dad doesn't like text messaging so we regularly email throughout the day resulting in 12+ emails. Right now, they are still showing up as 10+ email even though they could be shown similar to Gmail in 1 thread.
Thanks.
I'd like to know how to stop conversations in gmail!
I can't help with that, but I have another question someone might know the answer to: how to hide the "Show X more folders" that is ALWAYS at the top of the email inbox view?
