Soft Resetting Problem

Ive had a problem with a dead XDA2, ive been helped out alot but ive got one stupid problem.
They all tell me to press the D pad directional pad inwards, press the power button and soft reset.
I can do the first 2 fine but i dnt know what soft resetting is. Is it a program, is it something on the phone, if so where id it please.
Please could someone help me on this.

To get in Boot loader mode
Just press D-pad + Power button + soft reset button
The soft reset button is on the bottom of your device
You will notice the tiny hole. Just put your stylus into it and push it firmly.

I can't hard reset my device???
It just operates as a soft reset, I hold in Comms Button / Voice button together and press reset with stylus and all I get is a reboot????

You have to press 3 buttons in addition to the reset button with the stylus.
The 3rd button is the power button.

You have the correct buttons. Just hold the Comm and Voice buttons. Place the stylus in the hole and release. Keep hold of the Comms and Voice button then you will get a message on the screen. Hit the send key. I.E green talk key.

Regarding the HARD RESET.
a) I unlocked my MDA Vario with the unlock software from here. After the Hard reset , is the telephone then again locked.
b) There is a new update from TMobile for the MDA Vario.If I update it , is the unlock tool still working.
c) What is a good backup program ?

how can i make the hardreset, without \programs\clear memory.
My TyTN hangs by boot the OS and i can`t use any keys or stylus inputs.

Press both the softbuttons "calendar" and "contacts" and while you are holding them press the stylus in the reset hole and you will get the question to make a hard reset

hi i have a i mate jaq asking password i try to reset but fail plz help me how to hard reset .....
here i read the procissor but fail to reset plz help
1) Turn Phone Off.
2) Press and hold the two soft Keys at the same time.
3) Turn the phone on (dont let go of the soft keys.
4) When the screen turns on, immediately release the soft keys.
5) A black screen should come up with white text stating to press 0 to reset device. Any other key to exit.
The key to the hard reset using the softkeys is to only press the end/power button for a short time. Then a black screen will come up. Press 0 and the phone will do a hard reset.

If it is the i-mate jam you need to hold in the power button & press the reset button using the stylus.

I believe for the i-mate Jaq the hard reset is as instructions below:
note: all three buttons are to be pressed at the same time
1)push stylus into soft reset hole + press FN key + press right soft key.
2) phone will restart to factory settings

Press and hold the Send and End buttons (green and red ones) and the power button at the same time.. While doing this, press the stylus into the reset hole until the screen resets and the power light comes back on.

what do yo mean "dont work"
did the hard reset start? or nothing happened when you pressed the button combination?

i do hard reset and nothing happen and i do the pressed the button combination the same think ?!? what can i do now my windows not run ?!?

Are you pressing the 3 buttons, and then while holding them, pushing the stylus in? I think it's about 5 seconds before it resets, so it takes some time, be patient while holding the buttons and the stylus
