Hello
I can't get my exec to connect to my speedstream 6520 wifi modem. If you go into the wifi utility it shows my exec constantly connecting and then disconnecting every few seconds. my modem doesn't seem to be issuing it with an ip address. have two laptops which connect no worries. What am i missing.

Hi, I having this funny and strange problem which is very irritating for me. Would like to seek for your valuable advise here.
The environment:
- Notebook running Wi-Fi all the time (home & office)
- ActiveSync 4.1
- O2 Exec (Wi-Fi may be on or off).
- Belkin AP.
Description of the problem:
- Any time I connect the Exec to the notebook (via USB), immediately, the notebook and Exec's Wi-Fi get disconnected.
- Unplug the Exec from the notebook, samething. Repair connection does not help.
- Onlything is reboot the AP, then can coonect again.
- This happen once time in my office (using Linksys AP), once I plug the Exec to my notebook, the whole office got disconnected (not only my notebook), only after I unplug the Exec, reboot the AP, then everyone can coonect again. This happened only once in my office so I could not validate whether this connect Exec to notebook cause the thing. Because if so, then it's very dangerous, I can go to any unsecured hot spot, firt connect my notebook to Wi-Fi there, then connect my Exec, voila, everyone out of the network.
please please help to advise on this, I find it very very uncomfortation.
Hi!
I have this problem too.
When I connect Q9000 to Notebook (which have registered on Wi-Fi AP ) through USB, all registered devices disconnected from access point.
My hardware/software:
- Notebook with permanently working Wi-Fi and installing ActiveSync 4.1
- QTek9000
- Cisco AP.
Full debug on access point not said anything about the trouble.
But, when I uninstall ActiveSync, reboot notebook and start working with Q9000 as storage device, problem disappear.
No body else has this problem? Please????
RE
I'm using QTEK 9000
No problem surfing the net using WiFi from both my QTEK and notebook with ActiveSync v4.1 turned on via USB
This seems bizarre - but when when my laptop (Acer Travelmate 290) internal wireless card is on, the Atom wifi wont connect to the ADSL wireless router (Netcomm NBSPlus4W ADSL2+). It sees it, try to connect but wont connect.
Switch the laptop wireless off and the atom connects Ok. Its not 100% the case but I have switched the laptop off & on enough times to prove itsmore than just coincidence.
I tried the latest Atom wireless ROM upgrade to ...R00045 but no change.
All the other computers are happy to work together including a desktop & wireless IPAQ PDA, but unfortumatley the Atom just doesn't want to play together!
Any of you gurus have any suggestions. The Atom help desk proclaimed they hadn't heard of this problem!
Thks, Chris
Max #of DHCP users or Defined MAC adresses might be helpful in router settings :?:
What happens if you connect the Laptop to the router by cable? is the Atom then able to connect?
check the settings in your wireless connection for the modem, you will probably find it is restricted to one connection at a time, if your laptop is on but you disconnect the wireless access can you then connect your atom if yes this is the problem.
Cheers
Many thanks to you all for your replies.
The number of connections doesn't seem to be a problem as I tested with a desktop wth ethernet connection, two wireless connected devices (a desktop and a wirelss ipaq pda) plus the laptop via ethernet and the Atom connected ok.
The problem seems only related to the laptop internal wireless as I have now changed the laptop to use only an extemal wireless card and now the Atom always connects ok.
All other wireless devices are happy to connect while the laptop internal wireless is used.... BUT not the Atom.
Has been very frustrating and time wasting - just to identify the source of the problem. As to a fix... if you have any further thoughts or suggestions I'd look forward to hearing from you.
thanks Chris
Since upgrading from a XDAii to a xda exec, I have been having huge problems getting active sync to connect to it.
It does, but only when it feels like it.
I'm using the latest version.
Is there anything I am doing wrong?
I have a wizard, and noticed since upgrading to the latest ROM that AS was a bit dodgy, ie sometimes it would connect and other times not...
What i found out was that if my laptop was NOT connected to the wireless network, then AS would NOT connect to my wizard. But when i was connected to a wireless network AS connected ok to my phone.
It appears that the PC you are connecting to, has to have an IP address, ie connected to a network, for AS to determine what IP address to give to the phone. Otherwise AS just keeps searching and not being able to connect.
I could be wrong but this is what i found out and works for me all the time now.
I don't think this is the probelm with mine.
I have a fixed IP address, on my PC and I am using cat 5 connection not wireless.
Hi,
I have a wifi adapter in my PC which connects to a Linksys WAG54GS.
Every time I connect my M3100, the wifi drops for a few seconds when activesync 4.2 tries to connect to the phone...
Any ideas on whats happening here?
Cheers

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a Belkin Wireless G router and an Orange SPV M600. I have tried to connect my SPV to the router with mixed results. If I disable my WPA-PSK I can connect with no problems in both B and G, as soon as I re-secure the router my SPV won't connect. I have ensured that the PSK is correct and tried the speeds at only B and only G. In the menu it says that my network is available then after 2 attempts to connect it then says that the network is unavailable. As you can appreciate I don't want to run my router unsecured.
All advise gratefully received

Hi,
Do you have the same problem with an other device like a laptop ? You may have a problem with you router ?
try using wep or mac filtering or both, both are very reliable. i have had mixed results with WPA on mobile devices (and printers).
I have ran into this problem as well. I have a Netgear WNR834B router ("N" router). I have to set it to b/g in order for my 8525 to connect. Otherwise, it just sits there for awhile saying it's connecting and then gives the same unavailability error.
Hmm.did you find a solution?
Hi,
I haven't resolved the problem with my router. The router works fine with laptops and only my phone won't connect. The interesting thing is, when I go to other peoples houses where they run wi-fi I don't have a problem connecting even with WPA. Thanks for the replies, hopefully someone will turn up with a solution.

I have been unable to fix with my wanadoo router though.
