GPRS not really connecting - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Lately I've been having trouble with my GPRS connection on the T-Mobile MDA Vario. When I press the explorer icon so it connects, I get the usual message saying connecting to T-Mobile Internet, wait a bit, the message disappears (as if it has connected) but the page doesn't load (regardless of what page I have told it to go to). It just says loading for a while on the bottom of the page and then I get a message saying: 'The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again'. I then have to disconnect and reconnect (mostly several times) and then it'll work. Not sure why this is happening as I haven't changed any settings or installed any software, and when it does eventually connect properly it runs normally. Has anyone experienced something similar?

internet explorer / connections woes

yes, i have opera too, but this is sitll pissing me off.
i've been messing around with my vario II to have it be online both through my corporate firewall/proxy as well as on a normal internet connection.
something messed up. now, internet explroer no longer connects. i've tried numerous methods:
1) wireless (802.11) - says page not found, even though every other app works
2) 3G - says "locating" for like 30 seconds then says page not found
3) bluetooth/activesync - immediately shows a page under construction website, even if i'm opening google. this is for every site.
any tips?
something seems to have disappeared from my "connections" settings - now i no longer see the work connection / option to configure proxy. all i see now is my default "home" connection which only give the options "add a new modem connection" and "manage existing connections".
everythign else works fine.
any ideas?

I had exactly the same problems -- for weeks (although not with opera).
Called half an hour ago and got HSDPA enabled on my line.
Now works like never before!
I'm having the same issue, except that PIE WILL work with wifi, but not EDGE/GPRS.
Every other app works fine (Opera, Google Maps, etc) via wifi and EDGE/GPRS.
this may be unrelated, but when I had activesync on the pc set to 'automatic' instead of 'work' it would push proxy settings to my phone. verify this has happened by putting *.* for exceptions. if you can surf then, you have a proxy set up due to activesync from your work pc. some of my connections didn't show the proxy, but in the registry it was there. setting work pc to passthrough=work rather than automatic stopped this from happening again.
hope this was clear enough.
wes
Thanks for the suggestion, but its still a no go.
It just boggles the mind that PIE doesn't work through GPRS/EDGE/3G but every other internet enabled app does... and that PIE will work through WiFi makes it even more strange.. Usually its the other way around for most people (problems with WiFi, not their mobile data connection).
I've even run the \windows\welcome.exe a few times, as this seems to have fixed it for some others.
I've also tried switching to wap.cingular (MEdia net), hard coding openDNS servers as well as the old standbys (4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2).

Data Connection Problems?

Has anyone else had the problem that you go online and surf the web then maybe a couple of hours later you launch Opera again to go online and it just hangs (the data connection not opera)?
The only way to make it connect is to turn off the data connection then it will log back on...

yeh iv been getting that problem for sometime now, its frustrating, sometimes i even have to soft reset to get the data connection working. It shows that the data connection is fine and everything seems connected, but then when you try and update weather or browse the web (anything that uses data) you end up getting an error,
its very similar to the problem you get on your home broadband, your router shows its connected and your dsl and everything is active yet you get a white page on your browser and then you have to reset your router, very very frustrating, so i understand your problem exactly.
I'm wondering if this is anything to do with changing cells on your network?
When you travel to a different cell location although the network says you are still connected (and you can still send/receive calls) the data network has actually dropped and needs refreshing?
I suppose what we are after is a program that can refresh the data network every few mins - don't know if this is possible though?
Here in Germany o2 has a problem with the Qualcomm Chipset. I also have hanging connections. A workaround is to disable HSDPA. Maybe you have the same problem?
same problem here (also o2 Germany)
the 3G icon is there and the bubble says there is a connection for x minutes but opera or google maps mobile report a missing connection after a short time of usage. i have to kill the connection manually and after the connection is reestablished it works again for few minutes...... this is so frustrating...
GPRS
Same problem in Czech republic with O2 provider.
At this moment I found as a fastest way to switch off and on the radio.
I'm using most of the time GPRS connection and this problem is about two times per day so reconnection every day two times is really annoying.
Hopefully somebody will find solution soon...
My problem is slightly different. Sometimes (after using Opera or not) I try to refresh weather and it says "refreshing" but the data connection won't connect (it shows antenna, no arrows with H or 3G). I must then soft reset the PDA to make it work. Any solutions or similar experiences?
Blackstone data connection problems

I am also wondering if this problem is limited to Blackstone (HTC Touch HD) or extends to HD2 also?
I have noticed that no one ahs posted any solution.
Comeon senior guys PLEASE help us out here.
Many thanks in advance.
Kam2kam, question, What rom are you using, and are you using activesync? If so, have you downloaded any email attachments? I was having the same problem where a couple of times a day I would have to soft reset. The connection would look fine, but if you tried to update anything or browse the net you were met with an error. It was frustrating. I finally narrowed the issue down to activesync and the new manila documents tab. My theory was that when I downloaded an attachment to view in the documents tab activesync would continue to sync the attachment each time it polled for new mail. Since activesync is often slow to sync attachments, my connection to the VPN would timeout before it could finish syncing causing the dreaded "waiting for network". My thought was my VPN connection would freeze thereby preventing my carrier internet from being able to connect; since, at least for me, you cannot have two different data session running simultaneously, i.e. VPN connection and the carrier's connection. The only cure was to soft reset. Ultimately what I did was hunt down any and all email attachments that I had dowloaded, and deleted them all. Since then my data connection went from freezing up twice a day to zero times a day and it's now been over two weeks.
You may not have the same set up as I do, but perhaps there may be something similar going on.
I hope that helps a bit.

Unable to connect to data via Opera

Okay, so i've searched before i posted this and all i found was this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494541&highlight=connect+data
Which isn't exactly the problem that im having...
So, when i got My X1 out of the box, it connects to the net flawlessly. What i mean is, i just open opera, hit my favorites, and then the balloon pops up and connect itself to the net.
The problem is now, everytime i do this, 8 times out of 10 it will give me the "unable to connect" message thing. Strangely, if i go to comm manager before and enable the data connection manually, it will connect with no problem. Opera runs fine after that.
The problem doesn't always happen all the time, which actually makes me curious...
is it:
1. The network am i in is a bit busy?
2. There is a glitch in WM?
3. Something need to be fix in the registry?
I dont think i've ever messed up with the connection setting, so i doubt anything changed there....
any help would be appreciated...

My HD2 is harassing me with UMTS

Hello,
I just bought a Leo. My provider is Vodafone IT.
From the very first moment, while WiFi is present in my house, the phone tried to connect to Internet via UMTS. It does so often when Wifi is temporarily unavailable.
After my old Glofiish M800, one year ago, made me spend 3€ for two consecutive connections for the duration of a half second each (1.50€ on connection then) I requested Vodafone to completely disable Internet access for my SIM card. All I did then was to connect the PDA to USB cable and SPB Weather immediately tried to update weather without even waiting for Net via ActiveSync to become available in a few seconds.
With Leo, I also deleted all network access points from configuration, set all profiles to Office Network and unchecked (my ROM is Italian) "This connection has Internet access" "Questa connessione dispone di accesso a Internet".
What occurs now is that often, but really OFTEN, even during the night, especially when I'm on the road and I'm not interested in Facebook, YouTube or weather, the phone turns on and two popup appear:
One as a notification "Called: " (before deleting AP "Called: web.omnitel.it" "Chiamata effettuata: web.omnitel.it"). The other as error message about problems with GPRS.
I also have to pay great attention to the second popup. Once, but fortunately not today, it went over the lock screen and I was unable to unlock it as the slider was below the popup. I was also unable to close the popup as the screen was locked so I had to soft-reset.
I only installed TomTom and Core Player for now.
I DON'T WANT TO PAY VODAFONE LOTS OF MONEY FOR UMTS ACCESS WITHOUT MY CONSENT, NOR SIGN UP FOR FLAT PLANS AS I HAVE WIRELESS ACCESS IN EVERY PLACE I USUALLY GO!!!
Can somebody help me tell Leo to NEVER TRY to use UMTS? I had to agree with Vodafone that I would have been unable to even send MMSs and perform videocalls until I restore UMTS, but I can't spend this huge money for the sake of weather and for greedy (it's the right word) software that just want to connect to the Internet whenever THEY want (ie. Windows Vista/7 does Windows Update only when Internet is detected, it never tries to connect until you do manually).
Thank you. Please anser me ASAP. If I don't find a solution, I will return the PDA to the seller (it's a great PDA, I wouldn't like to)
settings menu all settings connections connections advanced tab select networks change the top drop down to "my work network"
hope it helps!
Hi, I followed what you suggested and, in order to test faster, I tried to manually update weather from HTC Sense.
First of all, even if I uncheck the Internet access checbox from Office Network ("My work network" you mentioned), I always see it comes back again. I found that "ISP settings" only shows two tabs, and no Internet/proxy checkbox, so I also tested selecting this connection.
I also entered "*" as list of intranet addresses.
Every time I try to update weather, for all of these tests, I see the 3G arrows on top of notification bar flashing for a couple of seconds and the same exact alerts
Does your phone always connect to 3G?
[EDIT] I also tested http://www.htc.com/au/faqs.aspx?p_id=297&cat=264&id=118112, no result. But actually the help page says it clearly: it's normal that the phone will notice errors.
Is there any registry tweak or what?
Hello,
To solve your problem, go to the redfrogfish website, google to find the link. Download and install the Data Controller cab. This enables you to turn on/off the data connection function of the HD2
(I wanted to give you the link, but I am a new user and not allowed to do so)
Good Luck

I think you are going further into the settings than i need to.
settings - menu - all settings - connections - connections - switch to advanced tab - click 'select networks'
See my image 1 - setting the top dropdown to 'my work network' (or 'the internet', it gets called slightly diff thing depending on your setup, ,)) means it will look for whatever active connection is available and use that.
I also have a commmanager that has seperate on/off toggles for 3g and data.(see pic 2) So, if i turn off data connection, but leave 3g on, even though i have 3g (well, H) showing available on the top bar, if i go to update the weather it comes up with 'connection error'. If i start opera, it fails, etc etc.
Back into comm manager., turn back on the data toggle, everything works again.
If i turn off 3g, and leave data off, I get the same results.

[Q] Functions stops working, one after another...

Yesterday activesync (I sync with my gmail account) stopped working. Have removed the settings, added them again, but nothing helps. On my old X1:a, when starting the activesync application, I could at least get some kind of error message why it didn't work.
Now it just says "waiting for network". If I press "sync" the screen changes to "syncronising" and the green wheel starts to turn. This will go on for some minutes, but nothing happens.
It's also impossible to choose "Push mail" in the communication manager, that option is greyed out.
Right now I noticed that I can't get no connection to my Wifi. We have two computers in the same room, a Dell laptop and a Macbook, both connects to the wifi without problems.
When I check Connections->Wifi I can just see my own network, which is "not available" and the option "add new". Even though I know that I usually can see about 20 Wifi's, the house where I live is full of them!
I really want to like this phone, but it's not that easy.
