I use PIE with PIEPlus 2.2 for browsing, and every time I click into a text box on a web page the on screen keyboard pops up - this is very annoying as I use full screen mode and this causes the screen to come out of full screen mode while the keyboard pops up. Also I'm in landscape mode with the hardware keyboard slid out, so the on-screen keyboard is not needed.
I'm sure this problem never happened before, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a setting or whatever I might have changed?
Use nullkeyboard

Also, if you start typing on the hardware keyboard while te software keyboard is on the screen, it'll disappear and only reappears when you tap te "keyboard button" instead of appearing every time you select a text box.

help.
Is there a way to stop the bloody keyboard on the screen poping up. very annoying as there is a giant keyboad just below it
I had this issue, and found it only really happens when your in landscape mode, in portrait, you more than likelly will want to use it when it pops up.
I havent found a way to disable it as such but did find that if you just ignore the fact its appeared and start typing on the keyboard regardless, it dissapears again after the first keystroke
You need some kind of empty SIP.
I use PHM's on WM2003se http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/PowerToys/

If youre in landscape mode and it does pop up just press a key on the keyboard and it should go away and not come back til you go to portrait mode and use it or activate it by touching the icon.

HTC Wizard and so....
recognizes hardware keyboard slide out and changes screen orientation.
should be there some hardware switcher.
if so:
how to determine this swither status and use it in code,
for example to to turn the power on when keyboard is sliding out?
Well, when the screen orientation changes all top-level windows should get a WM_SETTINGCHANGE message. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
have you tried...

Not sure if there's an event (the keyboard driver may simply be calling all the required code), but the call in that article should hopefully tell you whether the keyboard is slid out or not; means you'd have to check periodically, I guess.
thanks for suggestions, but it did not helped.
I can recognize if the keyboard slide out/in, by the registry key.
nothing special hard.
but this registry key is defined at the moment when keyboard slide in/out but only when the poer is running. when you change keyboard when device sleep (power off), then when you turn the power up, you observe a second delay before the scrfeen orientation changes and refreshes.
I want to write appliaction which will turn the power up when the keyboard will slide out. I know how to write application which runs even when the device sleeps, but I need any event of keyboard changes.
once you figured out how to correctly detect the keyboard sliding out, maybe you could also make a little application which hides the keyboard in all application once the keyboard is open (for example with a keyboard of zero pixels high) When the keyboard is closed, the last used or standard keyboard should be made active again...

You all will get surprised...but the screen rotation is hrdware dependent and what hardware..is a junction where two magnets meets and the force causes the thing to rotate...similar to the design of Nokia 6800...one can veryfy by using a magnet...and many of our friends hv experienced with the magnetic cover which comes with the handset..
I saw a hack on how to stop the popup keyboard from always coming on but i can't find it again. Anyone know where it is in the registry please???
Do you mean only when the slide-out keyboard is open? Or all the time?
If you are talking about the on screen keyboard the way to stop it is to simply start typing when it pops up (with the hardware keyboard). If you close it without typing your not going to stop its auto start routine.
I'm sure this has been answered so search next time!
Just wondering if there is a quick way to disable the swyping on the swype keyboard.
Love Swype but sometimes a std keyboard would be easier and I find I am changing back to the HTC keyboard for the odd message and then back again.
What swype needs is a quick way to turnoff the swype funtion and go Dumb mode.
Problem is if I type to quickly it starts picking it up as swypes
Thanks
Check settings, menu, all settings, personal, input.
Tought you could change it over there.
Thanks for the response however not really worried about switching between swype and another keyboard. More hoping there is a quick way to keep swype but make it faster as a normal keypad.
Some of my messages (Txt or Email) Swype is a bit of a hinderance. Trying to touch (tap tap) is painfully slow and so is switching between keyboards. (Bottom center. Tap slightly to the right will prompt for type of keyboard).
Eg entering in information and funny names I would like to tap one of the sype buttons and swype function is temporaily disabled. I then type what I need to (tap tap tap) then tap the key again and the swype function is reenbled and I carry on (swype swiggle swishe)
I feel your pain. Unfortunately, there isn't an option in Swype to turn of the "swyping" as you eloquently put it.
Hope they come out with a newer build that could do that and one where you can access the EDITING options with just one button press.
i simply press the small arrow next to the keyboard icon on the bottom of screen , and toggle to the normal, htc regular keyboard
edit: sorry, overlooked the op's main concern, please ignore

Hey, quick tip
you can quickly access the Editing options by swyping from the 'swype key' to the 'SYM key'
Hi,
since a couple of days, I have this problem with my Yoga book:
- Halo (= hardware) keyboard is active and lit up
- when I enter a text input field in any app (Firefox...), the onscreen keyboard will pop up.
- as soon as I start typing on the Halo keyboard, the onscreen keyboard will disappear
- but the first typed letter will - most of the time - be missing in my text
Expected behaviour: no onscreen keyboard will pop up if I have hw keyboard activated.
How can I fix this?
What are the proper settings in the keyboard settings menu?
Is there any other setting I might have missed?

hey, i'm not familiar with the settings in English...but let's try...
try to uncheck 'show input method' at the bottom of the menu where you can switch between the keybords.
if i have it checked, the onscreen keyboard pops up. if not, nothing comes.
unfortunately, i have the same annoying 'bug' that quite often the first keystroke on the halo keyboard isn't recognized.
This did solve my problem!
