unlock via touch screen? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I use a password to protect my data on the MDA Vario II. If I start it, I'm asked to type in the password. Any chance to use a touch screen to enter a numeric password instead of using the little keyboard on the screen with the stylus pen?

Way of entering password info without using touch-screen?

My Magician is now protected inside a nice plastic case. I've managed to use MortButtons to make it mostly usable without opening the lid but...
I would like to have the system password protected. Does anyone know of a replacement password entry program please or, failing that, a SIP (keyboard) which can respond to the d-pad?
Thanks alot.
Try Omega one pass. It's great so long as you don't use another 3rd party button mapper. Good hardware key entry.

Cheers, that's exactly the kind of thing I'm after!
Unfortunately, after instaling the trial I've found that after maybe 5 turn off/ons I get a white screen and the only way out is a soft reset.
Maybe I need a different version of it.
try picture pasword you have to tap on the screen is a set secret loaction set by yourself, using finger or stylus
and its freeware
pm me if you find it sutiable cant find it anywere pal
Would be nice to have a voice-activated security lock on your device. Like say for example, you get caught up in a bank robbery and the robber wants everyone to empty their pockets. You take out your Magician and say the words "lock" and the device will automatically lock itself.
lmfao

Nice, or, hand it over and say "electrocute"
jaceuk: picture password would be no use to me unfortunately as I would still have to open the lid. People may be asking, how lazy can you be, not wanting to open the lid, but this plastic sleeve I'm using has one mother of a locking mechanism - I may need to file some of the plastic down to be honest so its less of a struggle.
mate i forgot to say picture password also has the option,to unlock the screen/device by button applicationusing the main ,four buttons
you can have 1 to 3 press of 1-4 buttons in any set paterrn you like
so that you can have a simple one button press or a code like tap of several buttons

Thanks very much for that mate - seems to work a treat! No need for any soft resets so far. Current version seems to allow up to 5 presses and also works with d-pad button presses!
vijay555: Thanks also for the recommendation! - just seems like that particular software doesn't like my particular setup.

Entering PIN easily

Hi,
Just got my M3100 - very nice it is too. But one big pain I can't figure out how to avoid...
I've set up a 'Simple PIN' to control access to the device but this means even to make a quick call I have to get the stylus out and tap my PIN into the tiny keyboard.
Does anyone know how I can get a nice big numeric key pad coming up on the screen like old Pocket PCs had - so I can just tap with my fingers?
Wouldn't be a problem if the phone had normal number keys, perhaps the cause of the design flaw?
Many thanks.
open the keyboard, double click fn, type the number, then close it
thanks but...
thanks sama - have started doing that, but still reckon the old Pocket PC solution was much easier - takes half a second to tap 4 or 5 digits on a keypad - wouldn't like to have slide out the keypad when holding the phone one-handed etc. (as often you have to if you walking with a bag or whatever.
perhaps an upgrade will provide the option!...

How to disable the 'Password' click when unlocking a device

I use a WM6 smartphone (Elf aka HTC Touch) and lock my device whenever I lay my phone aside.
When I want to unclock the device, I have to click on the 'Password' word on the bottom bar (left), then on the 'Unlock' word again on the bottom bar (left) and then again on the 'Unlock' word somewhere in the middle (right).
That's three clicks. Is there a way to recude it to only TWO click? I don't get why I must press on the 'Password' word as I don't use any kind of my password on my device.
Why not use S2U2 ?
Just sliding and ready!

Thanks but S2U2 is still problematic for me. (HTC Touch's TouchFLO overrides S2U2's lock. Also S2U2's screensaver displays only 2 appointments whereas I want to see ALL of today's appointments.)
did you check the "lock" settings under the personal tab for settings in WM? if you leave the pw fields blank it should not be prompting you...

Yes, it's all blank there, yet it still prompts me to press the 'Password' word.

Are you syncing with any exchange server? if you are, your admin may have a security measure enforced which forces you to enter the password if your device is left off for more thank 5 min.
If that is a case, do a google search for zenyee stay unlock. it is a small proggy that help get around the security enforcement.

No, the phone syncs only with my desktop PC.

I found your solution it is called 'USE SEARCH'. It took me all of 30 seconds using the search function on this forum and keyword 'Device Lock'. You newb's amaze me. Starting new threads all the time and hardly ever using search. What crap!!

Yeah it seems mobile shell is the issue. Shame because it is a nice app apart from this one bug. Did you ever find an alternative to mobile shell?

I downloaded Sbp Mobile Shell v2.0 but haven't tried it yet. Maybe they've solved the issue in this new version?
At the time being I use my device as it is, i.e. without a 3rd party shell, just raw WM6. My HTC Touch is finger-friendly.
I'm using the version 2 and the issue remains
I might look at seeing if I can get the htc touch interface on my atom.
Thanks for all your help

Thanks for the headsup. So I won't bother installing the v2.0 .
I use SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 also and I get the same problem
The problem is posted on on SPB forums...no fix for the bug though. For now use 3rd party locking programs.
I'am also having this issue, but as stated before I think it has to do with if you are leaving activesync open in the background as a running process. I leave active sync open now and when I do a device lock it always as for a password and I don't have one set either. When I kill activesync I was never asked for a password before. As a matter a fact the first time I seen it ask for a password I freaked seeing as how I had not set one.
I have it set to simple PIN, but to only lock after 24 hours or when the phone is turned on.
This mostly works fine. When I turn my phone on, it asks me for a password. I rarely leave it for 12 hours, let alone 24 - that's more to hinder people should I lose it than anything else.
On my old phone on WM5, simple pin resulted in a screen where you punch the numbers in and it unlocked. Now I have a WM6 phone and I have to punch the numbers in and then hit unlock. It's a minor annoyance, but nm....
Thing is, if I "lock" the phone (say am in a pub and don't want mates messing about with my phone), it just shows the stupid "unlock" screen where you press the left soft key and a mid-screen unlock button. Foils only the most drunken people from using the phone - in fact finding the power button is harder - Any way to force the pin entry system?
Now I don't use S2U beause (apart from when in a pub) I don't lock the screen (I just use the power button). I also don't get why I should need to use a thid party app when the tools appear to be built into the OS already.
And I don't think it is due to SPB MS 2 being installed, becaus it has done this since I got the phone, I just thought it was an "improved feature" (ie other people prefere it this way) and therefore never asked.

not in this mode (per-boot auth). but if there is a possibility to force this, it would solve my problem!
I wonder if the files concerning this behaviour are stored in /boot ?

How to type if part of screen is not responding

My Asus Zenfone 2 LASER has a problem with the screen. A small band of screen around 0.5 cm in height towards the bottom dont work. That area does not respond to any touches. I am working on board a ship and so I do not have acess to any service centres for he next 2 months. I tried factory reset and now I need to input password for gmail account to sign into Android and the letters on keypad which are part of the password on this region dont work. So how do I put in my password. I tried to use the handwriting input keyboard for Singapore Chinese language and select english letters from the suggetion. I couldnt use handwriting input for English as this option is not available. But gmail is showing an incorrect password error everytime. I have my password correct. I checked it on computer. I believe the error is due to some input issue due to using singapore chinese language for handwriting input.
I can survive with this screen issue on the phone till i sign off after 2 months if i can get it running. but how to get the phone started up if i cannot input password due to the non responding screen.
Can somebody suggest a solution or a workaround method please
Try "One Hand operation"
You can try using "One hand Operation" from quick panel and adjust the screen according to the responding area to input the password. :silly:
