If i open my battery cover and inspect the inside i notice a small switch. See
http://forum.xda-developers.com/files/naked-magician-insane.jpg
Its located at 15x
Does sombody know what that switch does ?
It detects when the battery cover is removed.
ahh thats it.
Your right thanks for that
I thought they sensed it with the metal backplate

Hello, does the macro function (the switch near the lens) really work? I tried several pictures and can't see any difference between normal and macro.
I notice that I can't put the switch fully to the top (to normal mode) but easily full to the bottom (to macro). Maybe it's dispositioned and therefor it doesn't reach the macro function internally?
Works extremely well for me. You are trying to use it in a macro fashion right, ie trying to focus on something say < 15cms away?

yes I am. I'm afraid by device has to go back to repair (just got it back today from another repair which lasted a month...)

This is sheer carelessness from your last repair. There is nothing broken on the camera zoom just that the back has been placed on and the catch on the casing has missed the toggle arm on camera. A simple 20 sec job which you could easily do yourself if it weren't for that VOID sticker. Give your last repairer a good talking to.

If you mean the little sticker on top of the screw next to the camera on the right, this is already broken, by the HTC repairer I assume...
When I unscrew the back (4 screws) then I will be able to repair it myself you think? (first find the appropriate screwdriver).

Yes it's an easy fix as there is nothing broken inside. Get set of phone screwdrivers from maplin or such like. Open phone bottom end first needs just a little bit of easing out as there are pop in connections all around. Tilt bottom edge up and with a bit of judicious wiggling it will pop off!. The problem will be immediately obvious. There is a small "arm" on the camera that fits into the movable macro switch on the case.
Easiest wat I've found to get them to match up is move both lever and and switch toward top of device and place back on by moving it straight down onto phone (not at an angle). Before putting screws in check switch moves fully and in good light you'll actually see lens and black ring moving in an out. Once full screwed up (forgive expression) you may need to press a little on top edge to get case to return fully into position.

Many thanx, it works again!!!
As you said I lifted the bottom, played with the switch and it fell into place!
First I tried to remove the whole cover, but at the cameraside it didn't get off that easy and I was affraid to damage something. But then I solved it without lifted the whole cover. SO I'M VERY HAPPY NOW!!!
(by the way, is there a trick to get the whole cover off? Not that I want to do that at the moment...)

Knew you could do it, congratulations. The back is fiddly, it helps if you have the tool that looks like a flat blade screwdriver with a slightly bend tip - meant for providing a little leverage to pull the case out enough to release the click in clips. A blunt knife could also be used if you want to go down market. Steer clear of a sledgehammer though!

Hi!
The plastic bit that holds the stylus to the back on my 614c has come off (and there's a small metal piece as well) and I'm not sure how to put them back together... can anyone share a picture of how the stylus holder is fitted to the back flap please?

maybe it helps

Thanks, but need a bit more help... there is a small metal piece (it would be ~1 cm long if it was straightened) with a small v-shaped notch in the middle, and the edges are bent at 90 degrees, something like this:
|___ __|
......\/
the digram is not to scale, but the V is not exactly in the center. (ignore the ...... otherwise the V wasn't displaying where it should)
I think this is what locks the stylus in, but I can't seem to find a place where it belongs... can you look through the slot and maybe tell me where you see it?
Thanks!
i think i've found what you mean
looks like it's situated on the top of the slot.
see here: http://www.mendelonline.be/fotos/614c/location
Thanks!
All this time I was trying to fit the strip across the hole (which doesn't make much sense in hindsight) but from the 2nd image I understood that it goes parallel. So far I've slotted it in (the tubelike piece has a slot for it) and it's just being held in place by the cover... i.e. if I remove the back cover it's all going to fall apart
Need to find a way to glue it in carefully.
Hi,
My S5 has now one year and I found that the USB cover, this little piece of plastic which is not easy to remove.... stays always open or almost all the time. Thus, it's not really good for the waterproof...
Do you have the same issue?
What do you do to solve this?
It seems that's the little plastic which maintains the cover which is bend to stay open.
TIA
Yes. But I remove it. It's Easy to do
There's a screw on the backside to remove the lock holding the usb cover. Just unscrew it and remove the cover or buy a new one and just replace it.
Has anyone else experienced their OnePlus 2 working fine *without* the back cover screwed on, but as soon as it was screwed on the phone stopped working and wouldn't start again? And, if so, did they ever sort out why?
Are you talking about the "click" cover? (rosewood, kevlar, sandstone etc?) or the one that reveals the battery? if its the "click" i can only imagine that it has to do something with the "style" indicator - those two metal contacts on the cover - it tells the phone which cover is installed (e.g. rosewood, kevlar etc) and OOS uses that info to change the theme and i would try to put a tape over the contacts.
if its the one underneath, i would check the battery contact as something similar happened to me when i attempted to replace the battery - the contact didnt "stick" and everytime i screwed the lid on it got loose and the phone wouldnt start (naturally, what else without battery )...check that out...

Thank you for your response. I have the "default" grey, slightly rough, back cover. (Which I like, by the way.) How does the phone detect which cover, it being made of plastic and thus non-conductive? Weird, but cool, unless it isn't working right. Will tape work to block it from detecting anything at all? Not sure why that would cause an issue.... but willing to try it.
Re the battery plug, with mine there is a minor but definite single and sometimes double click. When I don't get that, the plug isn't truly seated correctly. It doesn't come loose. In addition, the dark piece of tape on top of it creates another "press down" layer.
I've discovered, as an aside, that after unplugging the battery it is also a good idea to hold down the power, and up/down volume buttons. This old trick dissipates any "extra" static electricity in the phone trapped by unplugging the battery. When it is done, then the battery plugged in again, the phone will nearly always at least show some sign of power upon restart.
[Added later: My "old trick" in the above last paragraph stopped working right after I posted. It sounded so knowledgable, right? hahaha... or sigh.)
Hello
I can't charge my LG G2 D802, so I ordered a charging flex cablefrom ebay.
After replaced, the phone charges well, but the screen is almost unresponsive.
And it's very interesting, because if I replace to the old one, everything is the same, almost unresponsive screen, not like before disassembly...
Any idea what to do?
Connectors and everything looks fine, but I can't believe touch screen stop working after disassembly.
Please help if You could...
Thank You!
You disassembled the phone? If you didn't put all the components back in place as it comes from factory and taped, then there could be grounding issues. There is a set of transistors next to the lcd connector and above the charging port, make sure it's touching the golden pad on bottom and is taped.
Or else it's a bad cable, bad grounding somehow, moisture issues etc etc.
I think You're right.
The set of transistors may not connecting well.
Can I use processor pasta to glue it back?
Or just some simple tape from above?
-----------------------------------------------------------
So I cleaned it with alcohol and the original glue getting stronger, so I put it back to the right place and put some tape on it.
But still the same.
Do I have to put tape on the cables above the battery?
How could I find where is the bad grounding?

No i don't recommend to put thermal paste therez if it conductive it can short nearby components and can also get messy, it is only for using on chips. I suggest you use double sided tape, but do it strategically so that it leaves a small portion open for the golden pad to make contact. And after that you put nonconductive tape on top of that. Make sure the metal part of the white cable nearby is not touching this area, or you can also put tape between them. I suggest to put tape on the lcd connector as well.
Whenever this problem arises, and if you have trouble to fix it, an easy way is to disconnect and reconnect the battery after a few seconds, should work ok.
You can also purchase a new one like this, look for your device model - https://m.ebay.com/itm/183023879505

Seems like the set of transistors well connected now and I put tapes on it and on the screen connector as well.
And I reconnected the battery too, but nothing happened.
It's the same as before.
And if I replace the charging port flex cable to the old one, it's the same too, but before disassembly it works, but the problem was I cannot charge the phone.
Any other idea what should I do to fix it?
I cannot choose D802 on the link You gave me...
Anyway I think this one and the old one is fine if it's about the touch screen, have to be something another...
