Red LED when connect USB sync cable

When i connect my XDA II with my USB sync cable, the red LED turns on and restart.
I have tried another new cable, nothing change. i can still charge with my power supply. Please help! Thank You very much and sorry for my bad english.
Is that the battery problem?
Could be battery but I'm placing my bet on a connector problem that somehow has eroded and is shorting. I had a problem once with my xda that when I plug it in my car charger it actually discharges the battery. i thought the problem was with the charger but the connector problem finaly gave out and i had it replaced and it can charge again using the car charger.
how much did u spend?
About Philippine pesos 600 parts and labor.

Not charging Himalaya (actually,it's charging only on USB)

Hi.
I bought a Himalaya from ebay that cannot be charged through mains charger...
Although it can be charged through the usb cable..
I tried to charge it with its cradle connected to the wall charger and it's not charging. If i remove the battery and put it on the cradle it's charging(the battery only). Also, i tried my blueangel's wall charger and it's also not working with this himalaya. (it should?..)
So...now i'm charging the device through usb...either with the cradle or just a capable usb cable.
I think that there's a problem with the connector of the device...but i wonder why it's charging on usb and not charging on mains charger.
The best solution that i can imagine is to open it...measure the pins with a multimeter and then short-circuit the usb charging pin with the 'faulty' one...
Any other ideas?

Hi.
Thanks for the reply. I have already tried to alter the connections on the charger. I short-circuited pin 22 with pin 13 and it was charging. Altough...when i tried to solder the short-cirtuit i destroyed charger's connector So i'm afraid to solder something on the 2020's side.
Is there a way or special soldering iron for such jobs?.....
My conclusion about himalaya's charging system is that it's charging from pin 13 when connected on usb but it's charging from pins 20,21,22( not sure) when connected on a wall charger.
For now, i'm using a usb wall charger by connecting the usb cable on it.
dear nicktgr15
Its very interesting.
Could you please give me screenshoot of that PIN connect to wall charger ? Which PIN in the himalaya mainboard .. connect to what Female PIN on wall charger ?
My Himalaya 22 pin choped so can not possible to charge on spot.
I can only charge the battery by remove the battery and charge on seperate charger.
So when my himalaya power is over I have to take the battery out on it and charge it on the general charger...
Thanks anyway.

no USB/ not charging

Hi everyone. I bought Niki the other day on ebay with broken screen. It is fixed now but notice that AS does not work nor I can charge the battery. The USB connector is fine and it is not de-soldered. Forgot to mentioned it is running custom OS from here and is unlocked.
Wonder if anybody has any suggestion what it could be?
Thanks
if charger is plugged in without the battery I get 2.2 V between pin 1 vdc and pin 4 on bat connectors. Does that mean it should be charging?
ok....does anybody know if I can charge the battery direct to selectable voltabe PS? guess I am asking what is the charging voltage?
anyone......
Can someone please take the battery out and measure out pin 1 and 4 accross while charger plugged in. Need to know what is the charging voltage. My shows 2.2 V which is not enough. Guess second question is has somebody managed to find what is causing this fault. Must be a common fault as it use to get very hot during the charge.
anybody? is there any electronic schematics for power circuit for this model?
Just measured it. On my NIKI100 it shows 2.80V on the outer pins when I dont have a battery connected but having the USB connected. When the battery is in and has USB connected it is charging with 3.95V.

Atom gets external power (backlight changes) but doesn't charge (DIY charger)

hi guys, I soldered a 5v charger's +5v & ground wires to a female USB port, then connected to the mini-usb port of the Atom, external power was detected but it doesn't charge, what else do I have to do to trigger charging? thanks!

Interesting. I've noted similar issues, I first thought it was to do with the power current capacity however I'm not so sure now. What I did find was that if I plugged in the usb plug first and then turned the charger power on (e.g. car charger 850mA) then it would charge. However the original charger worked any which way. Also turning off the screen would result in slow charging even when it said not! Does this help?
There is some problem in oem battry driver, you can google to find the driver hotfix.
sorry for my BAD english..
You must give two other pins short with resistor as i remember. This is in order to simulate USB connectivity, which original charger do.
This is for HP Ipaq rw6815 I have..
more info you can find in below links it's for other devices, but the workaround is the same:

I don't think below method i safe enough, I think it's not a wise decision to shorten your data pins, but obviously work with iphone
