Good Afternoon everyone!
Was wondering if anyone has "lost" their video call button. Mine is completely gone from the keypad display! Can't figure out WTF happened! Phone is working OK. I am on Cingular, not UTMS in our area yet; it's being tested.
I had the fitcat tweaker on here an dhad selected HSDPA enable, since they will be using that. But I don't know if the video call button was missing before or after that.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Maybe you have hard-reset your device and didn't let the customization run after finishing?
You can always use one of the dailers found on the wiki, most (if not all) of them have the video call button.
Good luck!
what device are you using? have you upgraded to a Cingular ROM by any chance?
Thank You All
I think the problem was Battery pack pro V3. I did a hard reset, and the key came back. I installed each program that I was using, checking the keyboard after each install. All seems to be ok, so I am going to wait and see.
Thank you all so very much for your replies!
Tom
I forgot to mention:
No I would NEVER upgrade to the Cingular ROM. They kinda freaked out when they saw the Tytn in my hands, a tech who was there had the 8525 on him, and he claimed that their system would block the Tytns...yea, right! Mine works just fine!
i´ve the some problem and i do´n´t like make a HR

By chance, in the FitCat Tweaker did you "remove" the "phone"-branding (IE. on my device its a green TYTN thingy)?
This is why your videocall button is missing.. I did that on mine and it disappeared.. enabled the "usual" "phone-skin" and whammo... it's back..
If you manually reinstall all cabs in the ExtROM, videocall should be enabled again.

MDA Pro locks up unexpectadly!! Anyone else had this experience? My wifes MDA Pro for no apparent reason freezes or lock-up 2 - 3 times a day and then requires a soft-reset to be operational again. I every other aspect, it works perfectly, it's just those damn lock-ups. It results in missed calls etc, as the phone is then out of action and one wouldn't be aware of it until you pick it up to use it.
Have exchanged this phone twice in 2 weeks because of it! I believe it's the ROM, even though when not locked-up, it performs extremely well. I am considering flashing the ROM with the Jasjar Rom, as this is now stable.
Anyone tried and had success in doing this, and if so, how do you find it after the upgrade?
Extended rom not installed - no lock up so far
I had the same issue. A couple of lock ups per day. I decided to do a hard reset and when it tried to install the apps of the extended rom after the hard reset, I prevented this by soft resetting the MDA Pro.
Currently only the standard apps of WM5 is installed. So far I have not had any lock ups.

Hi simba:Thanks for the response.
That's great that you no longer suffer these issues of 'lock-ups', but do you know exactly what .cabs are omitted from install? The reason I ask, is that when you do this process on the jasjar ROM, you loose 3G video calling and the dialler skin. Have you noticed anything like that as yet?
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

Unfortunately I can not answer your question. I do not use 3G video calling. Also I did not missed any apps of T-mobile yet. I even noticed that without the extended rom apps, MSN is present on my MDA Pro. Probably when installing the extended rom, it removes MSN.
I have read on the forum that members have succeeded in getting the MDA Pro updated to Jasjar Rom. Be carefull tough, as your are actually 'killing' your MDA Pro and then reviving it.

Please elaborate. 'Killing the MDA Pro'? What just by flashing the ROM? :?
It's important I learn what you mean, because I'm seriously contemplating this exact move, as I'm tired of exchanging my wifes Pro for yet another one!
It's not dangerous. I am a girl and I challenge you to do it.
Anyway, if you need me to send the files that I used for flashing my MDA pro, just tell me, I could send/upload it. I keep it because *someone* (read PM) might need it later.

You're on!! The fact that you're a 'girl' means nothing to me. You're obviously a techie and that makes you one of the guys as far as I'm concerned! Had to say that....my wifes standing over me with a pick-axe  Thanks for your reply. PM'd you back. About to get cracking!!
I can live with it!!
And there's me thinking it's a simple procedure like upgrading the ROM on the jasjar! Stupid me!
No way am I chancing a patched version of the ROM update and hoping I don't retire my wifes' Pro. I think we'll wait till November and use the t-mobile ROM when it comes out. Thanks all the same diana_wills. You're obviously more than just a techie....you've got bigger nuts than I'll have left if I get this wrong!

I've done this and noticed there is alot more free RAM too!
One question tho, does anyone know where to get the intelli dialler for WM2K5?

Yes there is at least 40MB storage space, but no 3G video calling! What else is missing from the omitted cab installation? I noticed a performance boost as well when not installing the extRom, but without knowing for sure what is left behind, I've had to revert to the full ROM.
There isn't anything missing apart from the t-mobile ****e!
All programs etc are there
Quick tip... I found that If you let the first two cabs install THEN press reset as the third one is loading, you'll have video calling and intellidialler back, but nothing else from the ExtROM. (This is on my JasJar, can't guarantee this'll work on the MDA Pro)
Hope this helps...
Thanks sub69. From my observations of hard resetting the MDA Pro, there seem to be some vital cabs being installed later on in the install, hence my reason for reverting to the full t-mobile ROM.
One thing i noticed by avoiding the cabs install was that my device had no mms support at all, neither in inbox or programs.
Where can you download the t-mobile roms when they are available, is there a site like my-xda ?
Adam
I just updated mine to the JASJAR rom, works mint now!
Has MSN and skype too!
Also you can select network when u set it up, and it installs all mms settings!
my imat jasjar with the latest rom (1.13.53) and latest radio(1.04.02) sometimes freezes 10 times a day, forcing me to soft reset (sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row) before it works again...i have tried everything from upgrading the rom, hardressetting, changing memorycards, leaving the device on instead of automaticly turning of....nothing works..
the worst is when i stop using it and put it on charge during the night, it does not wake up in the morning...i have to softreset everytime and all calls and sms that came in during that time where not received...can anybody relate to this problem, or am i alone in this....i really like the device, but missing my calls and resetting ten times a day, makes me wonder if i should go back to my trusted magician...maybe a rom from another device (o2,mda,qtek) would be a solution ?
any help is welcome
I'd get it replaced as it shouldn't be doing that. I've not had a single hang on my XDA Exec since I got it nearly a month ago.

do you really think it is a hardware problem....i find it more to be a software problem...and i would not like to be without my device for 1,2,3 or even more weeks...anybody know if the qtek 9000 rom is available somewhere...having had a qtek 2020,9090 and s100 and also tried a few mda's and imate's, i find these to be the best roms in general
@jesax, I had a JJ and I used all the features (inc. video calling and UMTS downloads) but only had a freeze with SMS notifications and downloading emails over UMTS. You device could have a hardware problem. The other possibility is the ROM is corrupted so you should try to download a new copy.
mine randomly hangs when using Agile Messenger. Stable the rest of the time.
Planning a hard reset shortly, will see if this fixes it.
in my case a hard reset does not change anything...i have done three and have changed to the latest rom...no dice
does anybody know where i can find the original jasjar rom or a good working english rom to try out or do a downgrade...
i am reaching in the dark here....
@jesax, did you download a fresh ROM from clubimate? Your original ROM could be corrupted

yes, i downloaded the latest rom from the imate site...no go...still the same problems...i first tought it was a charging problem, as it happens every morning when i take it from the charger....i now left the jasjar untouched for a few hours in closed position without the charger, and when i opened it up, it froze again, leading to a softreset.....HEEEEELLLP
@Jesax,
If I were you, I would have falshed the ROM again to my device as I think there is some kind of corruption to your installed ROM.
To get the latest ROM version go to this site :
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/
If it does not open, just go to this site and you can open it from there:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_FTP_Site
You can get it also from this site:
http://www.clubimate.com/t-DEVICE_JASJAR_UPD.aspx
But your device must be registered to axcess to this site.
Flash the ROM to your device and try to use it without up-grading the radio version to 1.04.02..... if you experience the same problem so it's definately a hardware problem and in this case you have to give it back, but I think it will work properly "I hope".
If you don't experience the same problem again, it might be either a problem with the radio version or a problem with any of the softwares installed on your device.
By the way, can we know which softwares are installed on your device at the time being??
Please let me know the result.
Regards,
jesax, okay. So you have downloaded the new ROM at least twice now from the clubimate site therefore we can assume the ROM is okay. Also please confirm that you are not using any third-party apps. Are you using a 3G or standard GMS SIM. Try turning off the radio functions (Fn+->) and see if the freezing stops.
Jesax,
Are you using spb pocket plus or any similar software??

thanx, i give it a try but am getting fed up with spending hours behind the computer resetting this thing...
the software i am running are :
resco file explorer
gpspocketmagic
launcher
tomtom 5.1 installed, working but like to freez up also when in use
tweaks2k2
that's about it
i do not use 3g but do use gprs...it was switched to "always on" with the reg hack, but i turned it back (you never know)
i will have a try when i com home this evening to turn of radio function, and charge it overnight (how do i do this, without taking out the sim )
on the wiki ftp site i see there is a 02 xda exec rom i can dowload.
can anyone recommebd this ?
should i give it a try instead of the jasjar rom, and will it install as easily as the jasjar, or will it ask for id's and codes?
thanx guys
@ Jesax,
Before flashing the ROM again to your device just un-install tomtom 5.1 and pocketmajic and see the result "you can use majic button instead" .... if it does the same, you will have no option but flashing.
Don't get fed up...... your problem will be solved, the Jasjar is a wonderful device and you will enjoy it once your problem is solved.

I wouldn't advise you to do that.
There is nothing wrong with the jasjar ROM.... and it's the most popular.
Regards,
jesax, as I said in my previous post, you can switch off the radio using the following keys on your JJ "Fn" + "->" and select the All Off option.
Also remove all third-party apps and see if stability improves. If it does add one app at a time back to see which one is causing the stability issue.
The XDA ROM only requires a code for the Coroprate option (code is 0506), the Corporate option is the best to choose at it has no O2 additions.

thanx...i don't think tomtom5.1 is the problem, as i was having this problem before the install of tomtom...pocketmagic i can't remember when i put it on (so many resets, so many....)
i will give it a go
what's annoying is that it does not happen on steady intervals...it can freeze up twice in a minute, and then work fine for ten hours.

would you recommend me trying it, or is the jasjar rom actually better...i don't want to spend another few hours flashing the o2 rom, if it is no use
another question...maybe related...
i have noticed that when i open up my jasjar from fully closed to "laptop" mode, the backlight does not come on everytime...sometimes it does, sometimes i have to push the "on button" to light up...
my backlight is set to go out on batterypower after 30 seconds, and to stay on with external power.
the powersettings are : turn off after 1 minute on battery power and stay on with external power
@ jesax,
Most probably your ROM is corrupted.... in this case a hard reset will not work, but a fresh flashing to the ROM will be the best solution.
Regards,
Does anyone have an issue when trying to change the soft input panel type when in use?
When I have the SIP open and click on the Context Menu/Caret, I have to wait more than 10 seconds for the system to respond with choices.
Why is that? The unexpected side affect from one of these registry tweaks?
Does anyone have any info on how to eliminate this behavior (Other than a hard reset)
Thanks in advance
Louden
Yep, same here. About 16 secs to display about 4 items which some of which I have disabled via reg hack apps.
This is usually fixed in new versions, mine is more or less 1sec now with the new version
I too had this lame problem that pushed me to the edge  of throwing my K-JAM in the nearest wall  .....but I wouldnt actually do it  ....would I?
This has been fixed in the new ROM 216901
Nope. I have the new Imate ROM and it still takes about 16sec. The rest of the systems functions are peppy though.
Wouldn't a ROM wipe the registry?
So you're saying you've updated the device ROM and still have the issue? Wouldn't that have cleared out the registry?
If that's the issue, I'd think this is more an issue with the ROM as opposed to some registry tweak...
Yup I have this same problem. Posted a message few weeks back and didn't find any solution. And I also noticed my phone pad input method doesn't work anymore. Selecting it (after waiting 10 sec for menu to pull up) only revert back to standard soft keyboard.
I have the suspecion this WM5 is a beta and Bill didn't tell us.
Me Too

Yes, that's correct (loaded new rom and still have the issue). I too would tend to think it's a ROM issue. Even if a reg hack disables and filters the list, there's no reason why it should take so long to populate a list of 3-5 items.

LOL!! Bill Bill Bill
Same problem here also. New Imate rom.
Tried the drastic step
This was frustrating enough to me that I hard reset the device -
It worked...
So, I can't blame the ROM, but I can blame some of the registry hacks. I'm not sure what is/was happening, but I'll make my changes manually from now on...
I have not done any registry changes other than those done by software installation. So I am also thinking it's a registry issue. Now if there is only a way to compare the registry of good and bad unit then we'll know which is the offending entry.
any suggestions?
I just got my MDA from T-Mobile about a month ago and I am also seeing this exact problem. This sucks!
I actually can't get ANY 3rd party SIP to work on this device. I tried at least half a dozen (Calligrapher, InterKey, etc.) and the result is the same -- defaulting to the standard keyboard SIP (as was mentioned in a prior post).
Any ideas other than a hard reset? This is REALLY annoying. The funny thing is that I had a similar problem on my old Wallaby device, which mysteriously went away.
Sigh...
I have the ROM 2.17.7.2 WWE installed and I don't have the delay whatsoever, uesed to on a older ROM but everything works great!
HA! I found the problem (at least on my device).
Drumroll please...
MS Voice Command. As soon as I uninstalled it, the heavens opened up and it responded MUCH faster (maybe 2-3 seconds instead of 12).
After uninstalling MSVC, I re-installed one of the SIPs that didn't work before. Wouldn't you know it? Now it works.
Then I installed MSVC again. Lo and behold, the SIP still works, although the 12 second delay is back.
So my guess is that you shouldn't install any SIPs on the device after you have MSVC installed.

Didn't help. Uninstalled using SKtools both MS VC and Tengo Thumboard. I also made sure that all the default input SIPs were active. Soft reset several times. Still have to wait about 15-20 seconds. I have the latest ROM.
Hi,
just downloaded and installed o2 rom version 2.21.4.1 on my mini s. Everything works fine on but the "pictures & videos" program. It just wont start, not even when trying to start the program thru the camara. So at the moment i cannot view any photo's i've taken! Is there any way to fix this. I've re-flashed with the new rom a couple of times and still no good. Can i re-flash back to the original o2 rom? If not is there any software that lets me view my pics?
cheers
Did you download the ROM again or just re-try the ROM you had? I would try a new download.
hi,
what try to download from o2 agian or from another source? IOf so where else can i download from?

just downloaded from xda ftp site and it's still no good. The pictures and video program still aint working. Tried to get the original rom back on but it aint happening.
any ideas
Hi,
still no good cant work out whats gone on but i cannot view any pics taken. Is there any software out there that does the same thing as the pic & video prog?

I don't use it anyway - for photos try

of course
cheers for that mate. yeah it's really strange, doing me head in. I've downloaded and re-installed now 3 times but still no good. Contacted o2 so hopefully there can share some light on it.
cheers
p.s
is there any way to put the old rom back on?
Pretty disillusioned with the new ROM.
Reception has improved, and it seems a little quicker than before, but I now have a recurring problem.
Basically if I leave my XDA Mini S connected to the PC (home or work, makes no difference), to allow activesync to keep it up to date, eventually the thing hangs (hung overnight last night and missed my alarm). Problem is of course that it looks like its working fine (normal screen display), but it has frozen and is unresponsive to key presses and screen taps. Other problem is that when you call it in this state it rings (on the caller side) but there is obviously no alert from the phone itself. Furthermore it receives texts which then just "disappear" (I assume so as test messages sent while its frozen never arrive once its switched on). Any ideas anyone?
I thought it might have been cLaunch, but it happened last night with cLaunch uninstalled. It also happens with PocketBreeze off (no today plugins active at all). Maybe it's "Batti" but I hope not as the functional alternative is PocketPlus which as far as I am concerned is bloatware.
cant say mines ever done that. another problem i spotted is cant access any networkd thru wi-fi??? Rang o2 and there said it could be a 3rd party software problem, but the thing is i aint even got round to installing any yet. in the end they've put it down to a camera fault. Sent it back under warrenty this afternoon so a new one should come by friday. O2 are unsure what rom version will be shiped with it thoso will just have to wait and see.
cheers
Hi all,
I tried searching the forums for this particular weirdness but could find it.
I recieved my HD2 last week and had the crackling ear piece problem, with no help from T-Mobile i decided to flash the device with the latest HTC Rom it corrected the problem and everything is working fine.
There is one little thing i have noticed though which is weird, when booting the phone for the first time when it had the TMO rom it gave me a pre-setup application or firstboot application whatever you want to call it.
With the new HTC rom it doesnt give me this when i hard reset is this normal?
Thing is when i turn off the phone for a brief moment it shows the same setup application as running in the background?
switch teh phone into airplane mode and you should find the background app comes to teh front and you can complete it.
wouldn't a task manager allow you to switch to it?

Seems to be, yes. It's been reported several times by people going up to the HTC 1.66 roms.
