Resco Today plugin - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I am currently using the resco today plugin. I have some questions...
How can I keep the plugin always on top of screen. I don't want it to scroll away when scrolling down the page? Also, is there a way to maybe keep the plugin tab at the bottom of screen instead of top?

Click to collapse
Go to Settings -> Elements -> mark the TodayPlugIn and use the 2 buttons on the right (move up/ down)

I also like the Resco plugin, and I don't think there's a way to "pin" it in position on the Today screen... It would a nice feature though!
Whether it's at the top or the bottom of your list of plugins, you may still experience the scrolling...

Thank's for helping out guys.
Can't seem to find the element setting though?

Getting rid of the bottom of the today screen

Hi,
I've looked, clicked and sworn at it, but I just don't know how to get rid of the small bar at the very bottom of the today screen, just above the softkey indicators. At the moment it just has the (standard t-mobile) mini battery icon and the mini connection icon.
I've got no idea where the controller for this part of the today screen is. I'd really love to get rid of it altogether and have a few extra pixels for pocketplus. It just seems to be totally wasted screen real estate for me. I see other people have got useful stuff in this area, if there's a personalisation programme out there for it, please hit me up.
Cheers,
Chris
If you just want to remove those icons - which removes the tray as well - see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40133
If you want to remove it altogether, try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27331
And if you want to customize the tray with icons to specific apps, try "PHM TrayLaunch" - it's part of the PHM PowerToys - can probably be ripped out somehow and made stand-alone.
Sorry guys, ToggleToday is still WM2003 only right now. I'll update as soon as I get a few minutes. It's complicated to write, since the tray gets refreshed on screen rotations etc. And I'm just too busy to deal with it properly right now Soon...
V
Hey, thanks very much guys
PHM TrayLaunch looks like a very useful app, but I'm struggling to successfully add programs/icons. For example, if I want to have ActiveSync as one of the icons in the tray, does anyone know what should be entered as the "target"?
I'm afraid I don't have my phone in front of me, but trying navigating through your \windows\start menu and checking the properties for existing shortcuts.
Eg Find activesync, display properties, and it will display the target for the shortcut. That's your baby.

oops
Unfortunately I can't find a way to display properties for a shortcut - Explorer's "tap & hold" menu only allows you to cut/copy/paste etc - there's no "properties" window like there is on normal PC-Windows.
Fork, try gsfinder or another explorer replacement.
Also try having a read through this:

Thanks Vijay, I've downloaded Resco Explorer 2005 but cannot find the ActiveSync shortcut anywhere on my device! Does anyone know what the shortcut is to start ActiveSync?
It's not obvious!
\windows\replog.exe
V
Thanks for the reply Vijay, but replog.exe doesn't exist anywhere on my device.
Sorry, missed one letter
"\windows\repllog.exe" on my Universal.
V
Thanks Vijay, bizarely repllog.exe doesn't show up in my Windows folder using Resco Explorer, but setting this as the path gives me an ActiveSync icon in the tray - so it's obviously finding it.
Unfortunately, clicking the icon doesn't launch ActiveSync. It briefly displays "Connect to" in the top title bar before disappearing, and the Today page remains onscreen all the time.
Any other suggestions you can think of?
Thanks,
Fork, it depends on what state the activesync app is in at the time. It doesn't always like to show itself in my experience as well. Not entirely sure why. Sometimes when you're disconnected it will show, sometimes when you're connected it'll show?
In resco, ensure you're displaying hidden files, system files and rom files.
V
Thanks Vijay, I hadn't spotted that option in Resco Explorer - it shows up now.

Program in Homescreen

Hello,
I want to put a program to the homescreen.
Can any body tell me how to do that?
I have a custom program and i can only start it from programs or the startmenu.
I want to put it on the home screen so that i can start i from there.
I hope someone can tell me that.
Regards,
Peter
You mean, as a Today Plugin?
If yes, well, that's a little more complicated A Today plugin is a DLL, so completely different than an executable: as a first general step, forget about anything else than C++.
For everything else, have a look here.
http://www.codeproject.com/ce/CTodayWindow.asp
and here
http://www.codeproject.com/ce/CTodayOptionsDialog.asp
I think you must use a launcher plugin, like orchid shortcut.

You can use cLaunch or Battery Status to put programs on the home screen.

Home screen with battery status and cLaunch. I used bs to put programs in the bottom system tray, camera, messaging, clear temp, etc. I used cLaunch to put numerous other programs on the home screen. One tap of the program icon will open that program.
I have a little question, how i can add easy shortcuts to the home screen ? I read you do it with batterystatus buth i see not that option there. Thnx for any help
Go to settings->Today screen->Items->Find BatteryStatus->click on it->you'll get "options" button on the right->click it, and find Tray icons tab on the bottom.

How to put programs in the today screen.

Yeah peeps, as the title says i'm trying to put my pocketmusic shortcut as an icon on the today screen. Is it possible?
Try start menu/settings/todayscreen and then the second tab on the bottom. Then check the list for your program and if its there then check the box and this should put it on the today screen.
This list only shows today plugins. Not programs.

Exactly.
I tried a couple of tweak programs and stuff, but nothing worked. I saw a screenshot in this forum last week. It was the Xperia today screen with the pocketmusic player sitting right there. How can this be done?
Try using the other pannel of X1, it also comes along with the desk top customization which you can choose the program or applpication to be shortcut Or else try using some top up program like SPB Pocket plus.

[REQ] HTC Taskmanager improvement

Hi There,
If you ever used the "Close Button" plug-in from Spb Mobile Plus you prolly know what I mean...
The HTC Taskmanager looks all nice, I like it, but its only accessible on the Today Screen. Is there a way to make it accessible even when you're not on the today screen?
Sometimes when you're doing stuff you want to "alt-tab" to another program and this is an easy way to do it, or when you want to close another/all other programs.
I hope there's a solution because it really is an improvement to the taskmanager.
me too
sorry, no help here. I can only say "me too". I was actually just thinking about this today. I've had this phone for a few months, and it just today occurred to mr today that you can't close other open programs without going back to the today screen, only option is to "x" button back to today screen or hope that what you seek to close is in your start menu under 'recent items'.
any help or development would be super appreciated, thanks all.
There is a shortcut in the Settings folder in the Systems tab. However, I expect you don't want to go through all of that when you want to use it. As an alternative, you could use file explorer and go into the Windows folder, find the Task Manager program in there, copy it and past a shortcut in the Windows/Start Menu folder. Then it would be on your Start Menu. You would need to remove one other item if you were then over the allowed maximum number of items in there.
Is that accessible enough?
I'd rather not put it in my start menu cus there are other "important" shortcuts in there...
I'd rather have it in the upper right corner...
You could use WkTask
the best free taskmanager there is (not working on wm6.5)

I tried it and I like it, Is there a way to make a backup of my settings?
It seems the program doesnt work as i wished it would. I worked with it for a while and I like the concept alot, but there's a major flaw. Sometimes when I make adjustments to, lets say, my alarm settings (winmo clock/alarms setings), and when I press [ok] the window minimizes (I set the one click to minimize), there's no way you can apply the changes because it will keep on running on the background. If I choose to close it then the changes wont apply. This occurs to many other programs I use in simular occasions when you need to press [ok] to apply settings.
I would still have a solution to the HTC taskbar though. I think I would prefer it over the WkTask taskmanager.

Any Chance for the Old Start Menu?

Hi,
I just installed the official 6.5 update but I think the WM 6.5 "Honeycomb" start menu is that damn slow when you got a lot of programs there. You have to scroll a lot and scrolling doesn't look very fluid.
Is there a way or a registry hack to get back the old HTC start menu that was delivered when the Diamond2 originally came out? The best would be if there where 4 icons in a row.
I've added a snapshot to show what I mean. Yes, as you can see on the snapshot I'm back to 6.1
My startmenu is very fluid to be honest, I got my programs and stuff sorted in folders. Like games, media (coreplayer etc), network (commanager etc), personal (phone, sms, email etc), GPS, system (total commander, resco explorer, reg edit etc). I will install SPB Screenshot and show you how it looks.
Here you go.

Its still there under the programs tab... ? or at least it is on mine...
sorry if this is a noob question, but how do i add folders to the start menu like you've done? and change icons?
I have done the same thing that you have done, Created folders in the start menu, to do this you just go to windows/startmenu and create folders in there.
However every time I soft reset my device, extra icons appear on the main start page screen. Is there any way to remove these?
I would love to go back to the HTC Start Menu as it was so much better, I know it is on a Tab on Touch Flow 3D but it defeats the point in having a hardware button to launch programs!

I totally agree. The current Startmenu lack the support for hiding items en ordering them. Love to find a solution.
I do not have any issues restructuring my start menu.
The only icons I keep on the main page are Phone and Reset, everything else is in a sub-folder and does not add icons to the main page.

True, but the TouchFlo "Programs" was much easier.
So am I the only one who's missing the drop-down menu when you tap the Start button - you know, the one that lists seven favourites and your four or five most recent programs?
Why should I navigate the Honeycomb every time I want to go to a program I use about 30 times a day?
Any fixes/hacks to bring this back? Or am I being really stupid and there's a simple option that I haven't found yet?

You can do this with Topaz Keyboard Controller: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821
Map the Start button to run the program "\Windows\manila.exe" with arguments "--switchtopage programs.page", and it should work perfectly - does for me.
