Hi, anyone happen to notice their t y g or h keys getting scuffed from sliding out the keyboard?
I'm not putting any downward pressure on it when I slide it open, but before long my t key is gonna look like crap I imagine, and I've only had it for 2 weeks.
Kinda sucky for a 700 dollar device, but I'm lovin eveything else about it.

... that the power button of the Universal is in the completely wrong place? It should have been where it was on the MDA Pro: top right corner.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
Bothered me for about 10mins...then just got used to it.
the MDA Pro /is/ an HTC Universal, innit?
As for keys... I just got a new keyboard to replace my old one which had broken in half (just the casing, but you get the idea). I hate replacing keyboards because they always switch keys around... delete is now in the top right, instead of next to insert in the bottom right - left alt moved one over to the left where an Fn key was, and where the left alt was is now an additional backslash key (yep, there's two). So now whenever I want to alt-tab or alt-f4, it either doesn't work, or my screen will be filled with backslashes
That said, I'm already getting used to it again.
Consider these things, mostly, minor nuisances - you'll get used to it soon enough. Doesn't take away that there -are- of course some devices with button locations that are just ill-conceived; e.g. a lamp I've got has its on/off switch 'hidden' behind the glass hood that covers the lamp... the problem is that if the lamp's been on for a while, reaching that button means risking a 1st degree burn if you touch the glass I just unplug it instead.
I think it'll continue to annoy me, as I will always need two hands to switch it on. Difficult when I'm on my bike (I like living dangerously), bothersome in most other situations.

I've had it with the issues. I also have the trackpad issue, plus signal dropping all the time, even when just sitting on my table. Sometimes it drops completely and signal does not come back, even enabling and disabling airplane mode. I have to reboot the phone to be able to lock on to a signal. Also, my hinge is too loose. Even while using it in car, a slight bump on the road makes the screen close over my fingers. I'm calling for a replacement today.

Mine is working fine. I have noticed that it moves by itself when I'm in bright sunlight, or in a car and the sun is going behind trees, it will move the selection around my screen. A little annoying but almost never happens.
If my finger is sticky or sweaty it makes it harder for it to read my swipes. But with a clean dry hand it works almost perfectly. Too bad it doesn't register diagonal swipes.
If you hold the shift (arrow up) key down while in a text window, you will get an arrow cursor for your trackpad. It's a good way to test it out because you can see exactly how it moves.
As far as calibrating it... No way to do so that I know of.
I have my Desire Z for about 5 months, and now when i want to slide out my keyboard, the screen sometimes stays in portrait mode and pressing the keys doesnt work. when i slowly slide out the keyboard and have it out halfway, the screen flips, but when i slide it further, the screen goes portrait again. I am using a pouch with a magnet, which sometimes confuses my device, thinking the keyboard is slid out while it isnt. but my problem happens without the magnet intefering. Could this have anything to do with it?
I don't know how to fix your issue, but never a good idea to have electronics near a magnet

The slider itself uses a magnet to figure out wether the keyboard is slid (or slided) out or not. I'm not sure but i think it is pretty common (i know the htc touch dual also uses a magnet). Anyway, i've tried to keep the back side of the phone away from the magnet of the pouch and so far everything is working fine again. So i guess the sensor was just confused
Have to remember polorization homie. Put a magnet by itself on a tv and see what happense even though there are magnets within tv.
But if its a case with a magnet designed to hold electronics there is nothing to worry about

i bought myself a capdase leather flip-case which has a magnet right under the camera.... that magnet is to blame .... but the weird part is the case never interfered when i was on froyo ... but suddenly stopped working(started messing up with the keyboard) after updating to gingerbread.... sadly i found no fix to this ,,, so its $30 down the drain....
Hey Everyone,
I do this every now and then, wondering if everyone else does.
Let's say I'm using the phone one handed, web browsing or something and I need to reach a button on the opposite bottom corner.
Rather than stretch across the screen, I just rotate the phone 90 degrees for a second. The screen rotates, and the button is now directly under my thumb. I click it, rotate back and move on.
Yes, the Note still sucks sometimes as a one handed phone, but this does help out every now and then.

oh thanks nice idea
another way is to curl your finger around the back of the phone...I did try this, and looks really funny if you're watching from afar
I guess I just have big hands. The way I hold the phone, I can touch everything to the right of the blue line.
Ha.. same here. I've got big hands too. One overseas colleague once asked me if that is a S2 I'm holding.
If I'm holding the phone, you can only see 1/4 of it from the back. And only 1 cm separates my thumb to the closest finger when I hold it.
This is particularly useful if you're reading in landscape.

another trick for zooming during browsing with the stock samsung browser is to simulate 2 fingers. usually you can zoom in and out by putting them on the screen and overturn the phone.
so instead of using to fingers, just put your thumb on the left side of the screen, so that a small part of your palm touches the screen on the right, which simulates an input^^
i hope u understood what i mean
I never hold my phone 1 handed. I'm too afraid of dropping it. But I'll try your advice if I ever need to
hey all
Just got second hand dock and i'm having problems with trackpad. When i'm moving cursor it looks like i clicked few times....its actually not sable, because it always clicks when im just moving it. I also noticed that if i just hold my finger on touchpad, not moving it...cursor is moving up and down few milimeters.
could be some software issue or is this faulty hardware.
tnx
Might want to try wiping off the trackpad with a warm damp cloth might be residue on the pad. Otherwise it could be water damage or something
