Need to set up a Sync with a Storage Card directory

I want ot sync a directory on my stoarage (Music) with my computer. WMP wont work with what I am trying to do. How do you change where activesync syncs to when you select the files category

I went nuts last night trying to find a way to install/sync files to my storage card like I did with my palm Treo 650. It appears that activesync does not do this at all. On pocketpcfreewares.com I found a program that can keep any directory main storage or card in syn with a directory on the pc. It works well but it occasionally fails to notice the device is connected. Read the instructions before using. All I know is that now I can sync my ebooks and my Plucker/VadeMecum/Sunrise RSS feeds without having to move it manually.

Change the sync location of My Files in activesync to use storage card

I threw a few music files in the MY PDA folder under My Documents on my PC and expected them to sync accross to my Vario II. After connecting the phone it sent a couple across then I got a warning on the phone that 'Storage Memory is Critically Low'. Obviously the files had been synced onto the phone. Thought you would be able to specify to sync onto the phone storage card but there is no option for this anywhere.
Anyone know a way to do this?

if you set up the sync option for media player in active sync and then set up the playslists you want to sync in media player on your pc it will automatically set up the folders on your card and transfer the files. it does warn not to drag and drop onto the card of you want the sync process to work.

Cheers cdyat, but this was more of a test. For instance, what if I want to sync 30Mb of Office files with my phone. It would appear that I can't just put these in the My PDA Sync folder to be copied next time I connect, but I have to cut and paste from the relevant folders.
This to me seems ridiculous but I can't see an option to change the location to sync with the storage card anywhere.

You can only sync files, be default, into main memory. There are two 3rd party apps available (Sorry can't remember the names) that will allow you to Sync anything to anywhere. One is commercial and the other is a Japenglish conversion. Try searching these forums for links.

I am all for searching, but if anyone comes up with a name for those two apps, please post =)

As another user recently posted in this forum, Pocket Controller has a Sync Manager that can be used to synchronize files and folders to any location, including storage cards.

Pocket Controller sounds very nice but $35 is quite a lot just to enable me to sync a folder to my storage card.
I had assumed there must be a registry setting somewhere on the PC that would change the default path?

Acid Sync - Sync Computer Folder to SD Card\Folder
A guy I know is working on a program to do this with a much easier configuration since it just syncs Desktop folder to Storage Card folder. Pretty simple really, copy mp3 or whatever to desktop folder and it will sync to PPC folder and viceversa. Still in beta though

how to sync a file on storage card

I wonder if it's possible to sync a file on my storage card to my desktop PC.
I move my important data to my storage card and I also want them to be synced to my desktop PC.
How can I do that ?
On Hermes sync settings I couldn't find a way to add files to be synced.
Is this only done on the PC sync software (MS ActiveSync I mean) ?

Is it possible to synchronize Files with ActiveSync to MicroDrive?

I would like to be able to synchronize some file folders automatically to my Athena but have them copied to My Documents on the MicroDrive rather than in Main Memory. I have searched on the Forum and the Wiki and tried to do it but I have not found a way to map the ActiveSync File Transfer option to the MicroDrive. If I delete My Documents in Main Memory ActiveSync simply recreates it. Has anyone managed to do this?

Not sure, what I do know is that my pictures are saved to the microdrive. In My Documents/Pictures, and when I sync all the pictures, videos on my microdrive get transfered to my pc.
I tried the file sync, option in activesync, but no joy, it syncs from ameo my documents but not the microdrive my documents, sorry I don't know

I have found that this normally works, but this will move and sync ALL folders under My Documents.
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
Mofify\Create the following:
String Name: FileSyncPath Value: \MicroDrive\My Documents
Ensure that you create a root folder on your Microdrive named: My Documents.

Thanks. I am trialing MobSync, and as you say it seems to do the job. Interesting review from a user of MobSync who had trouble getting it to sync the most recent version of files and he was recommending ACiD Sync, but unless the standard version comes out with the ability to sync sub-folders I will stick with MobSync.

[Q] How to Syncronise files on MicroSD?

Dear friends, as per the title, I'm wondering if there is a trick to syncronise files and pictures stored on the external memory.
With ActiveSync, if you choose the option "files", it creates a new folder on the PC named HTC_HD2 My Documents but there is no way to place in any shortcut to anything on the MicroSd...
Of course I do know that I can copy and paste anything I want but, I'm missing a little the old Symbian Syncro...

I have been looking for this too but haven't found a solution yet.

You can use Sync Toy from microsoft, it's free and you can sync your sd card.
