Test documentation for windows vista sync - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi Everyone,
I have maybe found a way to sync a qtek with Windows Vista.
I've made a small documentation.
If you wanna give a try and let me know if it works for you !
Greetings!
Boris

Sync with Vista
Em.... with my vista (build 5600) the qtek syncs easyly??? I don't understand te post... unless your running an older version, bevore the 5384 build??

Not mine !
It syncs only Music files
I have found this tips :
http://desigeek.com/weblog/amit/archive/2006/09/19/Syncing-your-mobile-with-Vista-RC1-with-WMDC.aspx
Works better than mine!

If you installed RC1 from fresh, and not updated beta 2, then WMDC is not installed, has not yet been released as there are bugs, see this page for details.

It IS possible to sync wm5 devices with Windows Vista as describes in http://desigeek.com/weblog/amit/archive/2006/09/19/Syncing-your-mobile-with-Vista-RC1-with-WMDC.aspx (it works for me).
BUT! Did anybody have successfull tries to update ROM from Vista? I can't do it by standart way, can't do it with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe (got 'ERROR 150 ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR'), can't do it with mtty (can't choose USB, only COM). Is it avaliable another way to do ROM upgrade?

Hello!
I have installed windows Vista RC2 (x86 and built 5744) and I have a HTC Universal PPC Phone Edition.
I'm having problems installing Windows Mobile Device Center.
I've downloaded the drvupdate-x86.exe and installed it (with firewall off) and WMDC doesnt install. Only appears on installed programs Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update.
Then, Installed wmupdate.msi and WMDC is installed.
The problem is that when I try to open the program (either from control panel icon and wmdc.exe on c:\windows\WindowsMobile\wmdc.exe) appears an error message (with debug) saying the program must close!
I don't know what else to do! I've the same problem since RC1 (5600).
PLEASE HELP!

Any one successed to syncing with Vista RTM??

Although it was working with RC2, strangely, it doesn't with RTM, the driver is installed but only the file transfere is working. I can see an icon of my JJ in computer (ex. my computer) and when click on it, i can browse the JJ ram and the storage card only, but there is no any syncing capabilities. Any one has an idea about that problem. May i am going to try the old RC1 trick:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...roductID=7C1FA894-B2C5-41BE-8D97-E145DD2A883B
Still there is no respoonse after 26 viewers, does this mean that there is no one has installed the new vista RTM release or I am asking a selly question?

Yes, I synced my HERMES with http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6a-a72d-4aef-9663-31ce2fefbada&DisplayLang=en this tool, but sometimes don't, lot of crashes...
Just have a try:
disable any Anti-Virus and Firewall softwares.
I tried downloading the sync tools beta, but fiind it hangs outlook (2007).
I'm going to give it a try just running wirelessly and see how I get on.
The same don't know why it's not working...

I tried it, it worked, thanks. The difference is that i followed the trick mentioned above also, i added the registery key WHOS, then installed the WMDC beta program, so, will try to use the WMDC program only without the registery in another installation.
Now I sync 95% of times, I just unchecked in settings-> connections->USB to PC-> use enhanced USB
I have managed to get it working after having reflashed the rom on my phone (probably not required) and re-installing the Windows Mobile Device Centre beta 3.
I think the trick is to make sure your phone can connect to Vista OK before you install the WMDC software and then install the software with the phone connected.
Good luck
Are you also able to flash / upgrade the phone using Vista RTM and MDC beta 3? I'm not

Vista Syncing

Hey,
Has anybody had any success in syncing your atom with Vista?
I've tried everything from adding WHOS to my registry to doing a clean boot of RC1 5600, no luck. My atom is not even detected by Vista !
any help will do.....
all I know is you will not need active sync anymore, you will need to download a beta manager for vista (if it still beta, don't remember the name) and it will not sync your contacts and mail to vista's internal system... instead you will still need Office Outlook...
I know, it sucks, but outlook is still ok, specially 2007.
Thanks,
It looks like I have to reload XP and do the dual boot thing until Vista is released. (Hopefully it's fixed in the final release).
download
Windows Mobile device center Beta 3 from the url below.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6a-a72d-4aef-9663-31ce2fefbada&DisplayLang=en
it will give you sync capablities
still some errors now and then , but beats using a Dual boot or XP

have you try connect your p3600 and see whether it sync?
I can't test P3600 because I gave it away. Here it is what I get when I try to sync:
I don't read your language, but based on what you've said, try checking windows update, while your athena is connected. Perhaps, there are files for you to download after you connect. I have Vista Ultimate as well, and the drivers did install when I first synced, so you should be able to have them too.
Really I dont' know what could it be. However the message window say that:
it's necessary to install GENERIC RNDIS DRIVER
What the hell!!!!
Now I'm trying under XP and I have no problem...what could it be? Any suggestion?

I'm using Vista Business with Dopod U1000 and it runs flawlessly.
But I was getting Hell with Dopod 900 WM6 and Vista synchronization. So much problems, bugs, and inconsistencies.
Ohhh, thats what it says. Microsoft supply's in most cases generic remote NDIS drivers for at least USB, so vendors won't have to create their own specific drivers (or so I've read, anyway ). Do you run Vista 64? I've heard of 'RNDIS driver missing' issues with Vista 64. You may also want to check your startup disk you received with your Athena. I realize you use WMDC, but there may the RNDIS drivers bundled with Activesync, that you may be able to pull out. Just a thought, and other than that, I'm not sure what else to say, except look on the net. Good luck, I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you.
Just to let you know i also run Vista Ultimate 64, and uses WMDC, the first time i connect my DOPOD U1000, it install the driver straight away without any problem, then i can start sync with no problem.

I'm running Vista 32. About startup disk it could only install Activesync and really I can't fiugure out how to extract drivers needed. About net solution, Vista couldn't find drivers on line...
off topic question to mystic blue..
can you post your avatar as a large image?
thanks..it looks interesting your UI..
Here are a few screenshots. Using Wisbar Advance 2, Wisbar Advanced Desktop, Weather Panel, and Pocketbreeze.
UHm very very OT...please some advice about my problem related to this post will be welcome...
It seems that it cant recognize device...
I Found solution!!!
It's a WMDC bug that start to find RNDIS drivers in wrong folder. So all I had to do was to force it finding drivers in correct folder: C:/windows
Now I can sync!!!
Here it is reference...in italian

Got mine working with 64bit windows vista. just deleted that file.
YOU ROCK!!!
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! You don't have an Idea of how many hours I spend searching a solution for get my htc wizard recognized, your last comment on force the driver search on c:\windows solve my problem too...
But not also with my phone even with a lot of hardware that I can't make get recognized...
Vista seems to be a real pain in.... anyways I don't know how many research I have left but, I have two vista x32 home premiun edition computers one made by gateway and the other by samsung.
And I notice that the samsung one doesn't have any problem recognizing hardware, so I entered to the device manager to see the drivers and I notices must of them run under the 6.0.6000.16389 vista_rtm .....) version and I found that this Driver Kit it's availiable on windows connect for beta testers, so I decide to download them, lets see if this driver kit solve many issues with my gateway.
New Version WMDC 6.1 is available!
New version is available in Microsoft website, you can download freely and install!
It should solve most of the problems!
I'm using Dopod U1000 with Vista Ultimate and WMDC 6.1 without any problem!
My only concern is I'm unable to 'reflow' pdf documents using Vista!(It was very easy with Active Sync4.5 & XP)
Any idea to overcome this problem?
plz share!
dopod 595
i have dopod 595, and now i using vista ultimate 32, i cannot sync my outlook. please advice
thanks

this is exactly what I installed: mobile device center 6.1
problem is that while with xp+active sync it was enough to connect the devoce to the usb and sync would start automatically, now after connecting I have to run the device center manually
try and get the latest version of wmdc, see if it helps

HTC Sync install problem & no PC Sync

Second day with my Hero and really like it so far, but;
When I tried to install HTC Sync, near the end of the install, I get,
"Generic Device Management Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close",
and wants to send a report to Microsoft, after dismissing the first one another one the same comes up, then after the install I get;
"Unable to create a device manager instance".
When I try to Sync with the PC, HTC Sync won't find the phone.
I've tried the HTC Sync that came with the phone and the latest from the HTC website with the same results.
I'm running Windows XP Home, fully up to date, anti-virus is disabled during the installation.
I have spent the best part of eight hours today searching this site and googling the problem, I've found people with the same or similar problems and still can't get it to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem, tried uninstalling/reinstalling both versions, but the problem still exists.
I am also running Win XP SP3.

Me too. XP SP3.
Speaking directly to HTC gave no answers, and I gave up as I don't need to sync to outlook.
Im having problems getting HTC 2.04 to work after update.
C:\Program Files\HTC HTC Sync\Application launcher\Application Launcher.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
And no it didn´t, tried it. Has tried remove and afterwards reinstall, but still not. Connection to USB is working, but can´t sync.
Just for info, I emailed HTC yesterday and got a reply back today. I tried it, but it didn't solve the problem, good customer service from HTC though.
I've pasted it (as sent) if anyone wants to try it, god luck.
"please try the following on you PC. STart, sun, msconfig, services, "hide all Microsfot Services" then "disable all", start up, "disable all", apply, close and reboot. Try the install again in this mode with no internet connection plugged in (as your AV will be fully shut down). If this works, you can reenable evertyhing, start, run, msconfig, normal startup, apply close, and reboot."
Lol, looks like a bold move
But good idea with the services, maybe we can narrow it down.
Do you have Itunes installed? Just a wild guess now as I have it installed, maybe the Apple Sync conflicts with HTC Sync.
Im not sure if that im able to do the services thing, but i will try.
No itunes is not on, but at home im using Vista 64 with itunes and its working!
Hmm, didn´t work for me.
Hope that HTC will come with an update.
For now im using CompanionLink to sync between Lotus Notes and Google Calendar, but it will only work for 2 weeks, then i have to pay.
Didn't work for me either. I tried disabling all not needed services.
@SharDK Do you have the problem in Win XP SP3 too?
@Lupus77
Yes its Win XP Sp3
Sry i wrote fail in my nick, its Shark, but nevermind
New reply from HTC.
"Are you able to try again in Safe Mode? "
Tried but still no good.
Is anyone here who got the HTC Sync working with Win XP SP3?
Phone not being recognized by the HTC Sync program
I had no problem installing the HTC Sync software BUT it does not recognize my phone. Yes I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I have read the manaul carefully and done everything they say, including enabling USB debugging. But to no avail. I also have tried both the new and old versions of the software.
PLEASE HELP!! I need to update my ROM
Weird, since before upgrae i had no problem connecting to sync either in Vista nor Xp SP3.
But after, then XP SP3 gives problems.
@Salmanbodla
When you connect to XP with USB, do you mount the SD card!
If you can here´s driver for XP http://www.pdauser.dk/files/driver.zip
When you connect, go to Device manager and look for ADB and try update the driver. Even try connect the Hero 2-3 times mounting the USB, that way i got the ADB in device manager. But then Sync failes, but had no problem before update.
I wrote HTC yesterday, so hoping that they will come with a solution.
Now they returned an email, writting to me that since i have a Danish Win XP, i have to install sync in Program Files/HTC/HTC sync
Im sry but im not using a Danish XP, so therefor its in the right place already.
Looks like HTC ´dosn´t have a solution for sync, very bad, since i have to use it to sync Lotus Notes at work.
Latest from HTC. Want NFO logs.
Latest Email from HTC:-
"HI STephen,
We are trying to replicate this issue here, are you able to send us the NFO logs?
Many hanks
MIke"
It's nice to see they have an interest in the problem.
Now the question. How do I send them the NFO logs? I'm a bit lost here.
Just wanted to add my "me too". I'm experiencing the same problem.
It used to work but since I reinstalled XP (serious crash) I get this error when trying to start HTC Sync:
C:\Program Files\HTC HTC Sync\Application launcher\Application Launcher.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

The only difference between my old and new install of XP is that my old install was SP2 and the new install SP3.
Me too
I cant get HTC sync to work on Windows VIsta. Had Hero for 2 weeks. But cannot connect with HTC sync. I only need this for ROM upgrade... not for syncing.
Stephen did you get an answer from the htc support.
I have the same problem.
Has anyone had luck fixing the issue with HTC Sync refusing to run because 'the application isn't configured properly'?
It worked fine for me about 2 weeks ago with Win XP Service Pack 3, but doesn't anymore. I'm not entirely sure what I've changed since. I went on Windows Update and downloaded these patches (Update for Root Certificates [September 2009] (KB931125), Security Update for Windows Media Format Runtime 9, 9.5 & 11 for Windows XP SP 3 (KB968816), Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430), Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB952069), Security Update for Windows XP with Windows Media Format Runtime 9.5 and 11 (KB941569)); I changed which SATA port on my mobo the hard drive connected to; and that's about all I know of. Everything else would have been using programs already installed, which I had used before trying to use HTC sync.
I'm not sure which version of HTC Sync I used before, as it may have been the one on the SD card when the phone shipped, or it could have been downloaded from the website. It was probably the one on the SD card. Yesterday I tried uninstalling it after the error message and reinstalling v2.0.4 downloaded from the HTC website, but still no luck.
So, has anyone had any success with this?

Any chance you can uninstall those updates to see if they are the offending items?
