I've just upgraded from a Blue Angel to a Wizard, and the move to Mobile 5 is causing me a few concerns...
I'll appologise now for the bunch of questions I'm posting at the moment, but I'm trying to get the new phone set up as close to the old one as possible.
One issue I'm having is that when I connect my BlueTooth heasset, no icon is displayed in the status bar at the top.. so there is no way to know if my headset has connected properly...
Any ideas?
The other BlueTooth issue is with my GPS receiever. On the Blue Angel which was running Wm2003, I created the connection which sat in favourites, and all I had to do was tap the icon and enter the PIN code to establish the connection.. WM5 seems more complicated than that and I don;t seem to be getting anywhere with it.

If you open the phone app, it will show the headset is connected on there with a little headphone icon on the upper right hand side of the screen.
There isn't any icon in the notification area for it.

hi all
does anybody know why bluetooth turns itself off every now and then?
the bt-symbol in the lower right corner is ON (so no red line going thru it), but no bt device can connect. so when i click on the bt icon i see that bt is turned off.
i have no idea what causes this behaviour. i see no relation between time having not used the device, or charge of battery and this behaviour.
can anyone enlighten me ???
thanks
regards ize|man
I guess since nobody has a direct answer to your question yet, some points of clarification might be in order.
Which device do you have (XDA II, i-mate, etc.)?
Which ROM version is installed?
What additional software have you installed (Pocket BT Tools, PocketZenPhone, etc.)?
Does it do it even after a hard reset (before installing other software)?
As far as I can tell the bluetooth connection will time out after awhile if not bound to a headset or doing anything special.
I discovered this as I use bluetooth activesync to share the net connection with my pc, and if I leave it for 5 to 10 mins it will have turned itself off, but as you experienced, still appear to be on when judging from the bottom right hand symbol.
Hi,
i have a serious Problem with my german T-Mobile MDA-II:
Everytime i place a phonecall and even if my phone rings and i don't pick up it automatically enables Bluetooth.
The little blue symbol in the bottom-right corner of the today-screen is normally stroken by a red line, but after any gsm-operation the red line is gone and after double-clicking it say Bluetooth enabled.
The only gsm-operation which doesn't enable Bluetooth is sending and receiving sms.
Anyone else having this kind of problem or is my device somehow broken?
(I did have PocketZenphone installed but did uninstall it after a few tests - could that be somehow related?)
any answer would be nice! (standby-time is pretty low if bluetooth is always enabled but not needed)
kind regards,
alpha
mine does that too
and no turning on software is not a sign of hardware failure
smoking and open flames and not being able to hardreset is a sign of hardware failure though
i think mine started to do that after in installed bluetooth tools that free upgrade
from what i can read then it have something to do with support for bluetooth headset where it is required for the phone to turn on bluetooth when a call is recieved in order for the blue tooth headset to work
ok thanks,
maybe i should crawl the registry for a hint.
the notifications-database doesn't contain bluetooth related items!
but the software-idea seems strange because i don't even know that software you installed...
I believe he is speaking of Pocket BlueTooth Tools by Towa. One of the features of this software is that it turns BT off between calls, and then on again when a call is received - presumably to save battery life. Look in Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs and see if it is listed there.
Unless I am just missing it, I have not seen an indicator when my bluetooth headset is connected. My old phone had a headset icon that was very handy to check connection status. Anybody see this or know a reg setting for this?

My TMo MDA has an icon that appears on the phone screen, upper right corner.

I don't know if it shows whether a partnership is active, though - might be only showing bluetooth on/off

No, it definitely shows if a partnership is active. If I turn my headset on, the icon comes on. If I turn it off, the icon goes away. This shows up in the dialer app, upper right corner, not in the tray or titlebar.
yeah, I wasn't referring to yours in the phone app though
But with regards to your indicator in the dialer app - I suppose that means you'd have to have the dialer app active to see, yeh?

I'm not sure of that. For me - it only shows that BT module is working. When I switch the BT headset off - the icon is still active as BT on PDA is still active.
Summarizing  it doesnt' show whether you have a device connected to your Wizard.
Any one knows trick / app / reghack to make an icon appear only when the partnership is active :?:
Im 99% sure that when I connect my HT820s to my phone i get a headset icon on my taskbar. And no its not always there when BT is on.. only when the headset is on and connected. I will post screenshots when i get home.
Anyone?

Does anyone know a way to have notification when the Bluetooth is connected (the blue light flashs when you have Btooth enabled not connected). I would like to have it somewhere on the home screen.
Also I have the option to upgrade to the 8925 FOC. Any reason why this is not a good idea?
THanks for hte help
Hi,
Does anybody know if there's some today screen plugin available to show the current bluetooth connection?
I.E. If my bluetooth headset is connected, I want to be able to see it on the today screen. Now I can only see it on screen that is visible when a call is active.
Thanks,
Marco
This might help?
It places a "Tap here to search for bluetooth devices" icon on the today screen and can be toggled on or off via the today - items screen.
In theory it should work for you.
