Tweak for Pocket PC - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Does Anyone have tweaks from any forum which will stop all running programs once they are closed. As if we forget the stop them through Memory> Running Programs> Stop. If there is a tweak and we put it in the registry for good then we can get good speed of the PPC and also use minimum battery. If we forget the battery gets worn in 6 to 8 hours only. If not minimum 12 hours max 18 hrs.
Please reply if someone knows anything in any forum to support this.

sbp pocketplus is the key

O2+

spb pocketplus is by far the best program you can get for a windows mobile device. it allows you to close programs with the close button as well as navigate through the open programs by "shift clicking" the close button.
no windows mobile user should be without any/all of the spb programs. spb makes windows mobile run how it should and microsoft should pull their fingers out and upgrade windows mobile to incorporate spb features. as usual though microsoft is happy to sell us second rate under finished products.

spb isn't the best. it's "eat" too much memory and too slow. maby you don't know other programs, for example ilouncher, magic button etc.?

It is possible to uninstall some pocket plus components you don't use. I strip it down to the componentes I often use !
A good combination is dinarsoft handyswitcher, batti and mcube safemode.

no it's impossible. only "all in one bottle"

Which Programs do you use on your Wizard?

I'm kinda curious which programs you got installed on your Wizard.
I'd thought it would be nice to exchange our experiences here.
I'll go first
SBSH PocketBreeze v5
Adds alot of the functions of your phone directly on your Today screen, like your agenda, tasks, notes, messages and you can add other functions like pcoket msn, tomtom, etc aswell.
Works very well!
TranCreative Magic Button
A taskmanager which adds the ability to add programs you're running to your startbar, close single or all running programs and some other nice features.
Has a few problems with closing down active sync and call application.
ScaryBear Software Check Notifications
Cleans up duplicate entries in the database of your phone to increase performance.
Can't life without it
C. Ghrisler & Co. Total Commander
Alternative file explorer which supports registery editing and much more!
Good alternative to the build in file explorer
TCPMP The Core Pocket Media Player
Mediaplayer which support almost every type of media file there is, runs very smoothly and very stable.
Can't life without it
TomTom Navigator 5
Navigation software for PDA, but works well on your Wizard. Support traffice, weather and much more (extra services).
A pain to get it installed on your Wizard, but when it works you don't want anything else. Running v5.21 now.
Worms PPC
Do I need to say more...
Still looking for a better taskmanager and a snes emulator optimized for the Wizard.
...
So, what are you using?
Have you tried SmallMenu? Works great on the Universal, should work fine on the Wizard.
It's a task manager and launcher in one. Commercial or free versions available. Wish I'd written it!

New Wizard - What to do?

Hello.
Im going to get my brand new Wizard tomorrow, Im really excited
Well, what to do when I get it? Update the OS? What "must-have" apps should I install?
Overclocking?
Remove any standard apps that steal performance?
Where can I find apps to this device?
Im relly newbie at this, only had an Motorola A925 with Symbian before, as much tips as possible would be fine. If this question been asked before please link it to me.
// Mikke!
It really depends on what exactly you want to do with it. Here's a quick list of apps I can't live without though:
PocketBreeze http://www.sbsh.net
iLauncher http://www.sbsh.net
Cash Organizer http://www.inesoft.com
Voice Command http://www.microsoft.com
Mapopolis http://www.mapopolis.com <-- For GPS usage
Total Commander (don't have a link handy)
Resco Explorer http://www.resco.net
I'm also running a "clean" ROM, with a few Cingular customizations installed. My extended ROM is completely blank, so I'm just picking and choosing what I need. Also a variety of reg hacks have been done as well.
Good luck with the new device! Make sure you're reading here a couple of weeks before doing anything to the ROM.
Cheers!
anyone? Going to get it tomorrow, so help me please
Mikke,
There are many threads on this.
Best thing to do is think about how you want to use your device, and configure it from there.
sk0t's apps are a very good start - remember, the main things you want to configure are the Today screen (the first screen you see, something like your desktop on your pc), and then the apps that run on top of the phone.
The more 3rd party apps you run, the more impact they have on performance, so keep them reasonable.
This is a good thread to start with, but there are many others:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=57930&highlight=
This is a nice setup:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46855&highlight=
You will have to decide if you want to run Wisbar to dramatically change your Today screen. It's beautiful, but uses a lot of memory.
I can't use a PocketPC without PhoneAlarm. Other people like PocketZen.
If you want a good indication of some great software, check out the PocketPC Mag awards. I'm judging the awards, so they must be great  (btw, check out their Best of collection: over $3000 of software for less then 1/10 of the price. PM me if you want it at an even better reduced price, or a free trial issue of the Magazine :shock

Need simple today plugin to add large icons to today screen

I would like to add a couple of large icons to my today screen to start a couple of programs i use in my car (mainly pocket player). Pocket player does have a today plugin, but its to small to hit when i am driving.
I have tried stuff like iLauncher etc, but i dont need all the extra functionality and find them to fiddly on the small screen. They also slow it down for me. I have resco explorer but the icon are to small and cant see a way to make them bigger (as big as the battery/storage icons).
I just want the most basic 'no frills' app that simply puts large icons on the today screen, nothing else.
Can anyone recommend anything?
I like claunch.

I don't think this forum is hardly the place to be advertising where you can get PDA software for free that you should be paying for. A lot of these users are software developers that SELL their software on the internet and some offer it as FREEWARE. There's a difference. I suppose you've also found cracks for Pocket Plus on the Internet, too??
To give newbie2's post context, I should add that stinkie pointed towards a popular p2p network as a means of getting this software. Now we all know how to use p2p, but I'm not going to endorse it as a way to take money from developers who might well be members of this board.
I'm not one to talk when it comes to intellectual property theft, since if t'were not for said half inching, I'd be a mental pauper, but still, let's try to keep the board as clean as we can.
Assassination contracts, prostitution, that's all fine, but no piracy if poss, m'kay?

Alternative for HTC Homescreen + Cube

Hey everybody,
I have a little question for you. I hope this is the right forum for my question
I’m searching for an alternative for my HTC Home screen and Cube. I have personalized the Home screen so far. But now I’m searching for a good alternative.
So I want you to give me an advice for a good application. What I want to use is the plug-in for the Home zone from o2 and Battery status. I want to look for the expend minutes, SMS, and the traffic.
Thank you for your help.

******Danger Zone****** Search PointUI before instaling if you are new.
UltimateLaunch, make your today screen a cube.
Use Spb Mobile Shell
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?de
And thus, the three battlefronts were broght up, all in a row.
Use PointUI if customization doesn't really matter to you, and good looks with sparse information is tolerable
Use UL if you like to customize the heck out of your device, and spending time doing that is ok
As for mobile shell, I've heard great things, but can't say I've used it before. Anyone want to chime in?
UL and Pointui is free but SPB Mobile Shell is not... I like SPB Mobile Shell better...
throttlelauncher
After I've started to use ThrottleLauncher in my roms I have removed the htc Home, cube, action screen and the quick list.... and soon I will not be needing the comm manager because I can do everything from throttle. So I have removed more then 10 MB from my roms and replaced it with less then 1MB with my setup of Throttle .
The next version of Throttle will be so amazing that when you tried it you can't live without it again.
just a little screen form my setup

+1 for Throttle Launcher
+1 for Spb Mobile Shell
As I'm not impartial I'll not post my opinion but just in case you're interested, here you have a video preview of Throttle's next release (currently available for beta testers):

Gullum, Ather, thanks for the nice words .
You all forgot about FreeStyl!!!!!!
I think i will try ThrottleLauncher this app. looks great
@gullum
Where can I get the theme you use? Maybe you can share your doing with me
here are some of mine and others setups for trottle launcher. the all work on the last release 0.8

The one in the screen is a preview of the one I will use with my next roms and are compadable only with next version of Throttle

[Q] Paint for wm??

where i can get paint for windows mobile??

Try VSPainter or Pencil Box they are not free though
too bad that they are not free
are there any free programs?
If you're after an exact copy of MSPaint then CEPaint is what you're after, though again it's not free.
ETA: Actually, give this a shot, it's free.

PPC Diamond - Paint/Image Editors

For PPC image editors, you probably can't get much better than these three:
Pocket Picture (Just-as-good freeware):
http://osdmsoftware.googlepages.com/pocketpicture
Pocket Artist 3 (Pay-application):
http://www.conduits.com/products/artist/
XnView (Free cross-platform):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xnview
http://www.xnview.com/
http://www.xnviewpocket.org/
Having tried almost every image editor on the Diamond, I can conclude that the above options are the very best available, especially considering the requirement for full VGA compatibility, photo editing, multi-format etc.

Which version?
http://www.xnviewpocket.org/download_uk.html
The
"XnView Pocket v1.40 (Pocket PC 2002-2005/Windows Mobile 5-6)"
is for xscale but there is a:
XnView Pocket v1.40 (Pocket PC ARM)
which one is for the Diamond?
I just found out that there is in fact a freeware version of VSpainter which I found here
The one which is included in Dutty's ROM is PDACraft Paint.
