Few questions before buying Stereo Bluetooth Headset - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hello,
as i am a little bit annoyed by the 3,5mm adapters which pull out of the jack to easily i am thinking of buying the i.Tech R35 for my Prophet but before i would like to know several things for certain.
1. Most of my MP3s are ~180kbps, can i listen without any reduction of the bitrate or are there any quality drawbacks to direct wire ?
2. Can i move (run) freely with the Prophet in my pocket without stops ?
3. I read that BT und WiFi use one antenna, can i listen to internet streams without drawbacks ?
4. Is there any european online store who is selling the R35 apart from expansys ?
I am thankful for any help.

broacasting from XDAII

is it possible to broacasting from XDAII
just yesturday i learn that certain MP3 player can broacasting MP3 over FM network, so all you have to do is make sure your radio station and MP3 player is on the same channel. then you can listen to MP3 in your car.
is there any software that can let XDAII do the same thing?
FM is analog signals places typical around 100Mhz
GSM phones are digital signals placed around 900Ghz 1800Ghz and 1900Ghz
so with the GSM part of the xda2 you sure cant transmit FM
Yes it is possible to broadcast from your XDA2, you can do this by plugging in a FM transmitter. Here the one I use
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProd...=&Section_Id=201526&pcount=&Product_Id=140984
I then tune in my car radio to the same frequency as the FM transmitter and i get MP3s on my car radio. It works well and I am quite happy with it.
Jim
hummmm i wonder how that happened?
You also have adapt or buy a connector into the base of the XDA but its easy to do....
you mean a 2.5mm to 3.5mm minijack converter right ?
lol seems you can use them to freak people out
http://channels.lockergnome.com/it/backissues/20040517.phtml#20040517_1
i'm thinking war of the worlds here
hehe now that looks like fun.....hehe, time to go out and mess with peoples radios.....lol
Yeah 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack
as (hopefully) on the link......
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=113091&asource=XDA_SIMFREE
I can really recommend it it works well, however if my car radio was able to have a aux input i would have preferred that
thanks guys
this is what i looking for
There is a very cheap device called a car baby that will do this also, it is a rechargable device that clips to the top of the xda 2 and covers the speaker output, it works well but you must make sure that the pda volume is very low to begin with, just adjust upwards in small increments until you get loud undistorted audio through your radio. Go to ebay and search car baby. Here is a link to the uk ebay selling device. This will also work as a handsfree for the phone if you arent more than 6-10 feet from the mic input on phone.

Audio quality: HTC default headset vs. Other wired vs. A2DP

Guys,
I've bought a 2GB MiniSD just to realize the audio quality of my Qtek is not very good - 192Kbps WMA sounds like a 32Kbps on my laptop. I am currently using the HTC headset that comes with the phone. So the options are:
- Headset is bad
- 'Sound hardware' is bad
So, can anyone share his experience of listening to music on Wizard. Would buying a better headset (like KOSS or Sennheiser) with a jack adapter help? Or is it the phone sound hardware that sucks? What about A2DP?
Thanks,
Ross
I've just bought a set of HP AD2P headphones off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....name=STRK:MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=140054575540
And they are excellent! Very impressed and excellent price (£23 inc delivery). Smaller and lighter weight than other bluetooth headphones I've seen. Came with AC adapter for the built-in lithion-iron battery. Apparently runs for about 8hrs.
I've also got a set of AKG K26 wired headphones (however you'll need a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter)
http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/earpad/akg-k-26-p.php
The AKG K26 is renowned for fantastic bass so I was very surprised to find the HP ones were very comparable.

It's the A2DP implementation in AKU2 that sucks. Once a decent AKU3 (conversion) is released with built-in REAL AKU3 (not that of AKU2), the problems will go away.
Please make sure you check out the General forum here; I've posted several articles in there on these matters. Certainly worth a thorough read.
I have recently bought a plantronics 590A stereo bluetooth headset and have been very happy with the sound. My only advice is do research on your headset before you make a purchase because although the quality is very good on the 590A, it has a blinking blue light that continuously goes on, which makes the headset look quite wierd. Anyway, in terms of quality, it has been surprisingly pretty good.
Even with the wired manufacturer headset I got with my 8125 the quality wasn't amazing, but was better that you described.
I also have bought an adapter and used my own headphones, and again, not great, but not that bad.
Something may be wrong with your hardware, or search the forum for various registry tweaks to improve sound quality. If you can, I would definetly see if you can get another phone (through warranty), because the sound should not be that horrible.
now if this only had a microphone too....

I think it actually has something to do with the fact that the sound hardware sucks... I feel that any amount of bass or treble over the norm (even as little as +2dB) causes the thing to distort badly...
My old HP h2210 had an excellent sound chip in it, and also, i'm used to the X-Fi in my PC, and some sennheiser HD595s, so of course, it will sound poo...

The 590A does have a mike - if you meant that.

Try listening to any music that has *human singing* in it and compare it to the quality through wires (when you do the same by connecting the 590A to the Wizard with the wire that comes with the 590A)
Unfortunately, the 590A, being probably the best stereo headsphone, is *very* sensitive to this kind of distortion.
Update
I've bought an AD-18 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter from Nokia to try my Wizard with different wired headphones around my office.
First observation - the sound is much better with 'normal' heaphones (Seinheiser). I would switch to better conventional headphones immediately, however, the volume is really low and I don's seem to figure out how to get it up. Does it have to do anything with resistance? Was it the case for anyone else? May be it is the Nokia adapter causing trouble?
Ross
Actually, the audio hardware in the Wizard just sucks big time. I have a pretty high end audio system in my car. It also has a line input on the front for connecting an mp3 player or whatever (even though it already plays mp3 files). Anyways, I can connect my Wizard to that line in using a cable and the sound is really poor quality. Dynamic range is not very good and the high end is seriously cut off. I have to boost the crap out of it in TCPMP but still can't get it to sound right. I can play the same MP3 off a CD and the quality is much better, CD quality (I typically use high quality vbr encoding). I can take a cheapo $15 MP3 player we got for the kids and it has much better sound quality using the same cable and input so I know it's not there. I've also tried multiple 2.5mm->3.5mm adapters with no change. Different ROMs also don't seem to make a difference in it. I can only conclude, then, that it has to be the audio hardware.
I would like to find a device that uses the A2DP profile to sync with my phone and has a phono (headphone) or RCA output plug or jack so that I could hook it into my car stereo. Any one know of such a beast?
This is bad news. I have been digging around trying to find an adapter that would allow me to use the phone as my mp3 player, whilst allowing me to plug in an external powered mic, so I can can cradle the phone in a mount and get decent talk volume to my caller. In fact, I just order a 4gb card to get more of my library on the go.
I'll have to give my daughters iPod a try and see if there is any difference. As much as I hate iTunes, maybe I'll have to spring for a new iPhone. I would upgrade to the 8525, if not for the micro SD, which is yet another rant for me. It irks me to no end that every device I have seems to use a different card format. I think HTC is not doing right by the customer to go to the micro SD format. As it stands, I could not use my SX66 cards in my Wizard. I have a hard time believing the micro to mini would drastically change the form factor.
If you mean the voice portion is totally muddled... you either have a defective headset or a defective jack. I suspect that there's a short from the sound to ground...

Bit of an old post, but if anyone's interested, Connects2 does an adapter that is just as you describe. It is a BTAV01 Bluetooth interface for A2DP. Connects to any aftermarket radio with RCA connectors

is a2dp stereo music??

when i plug in the 2.5mm, it only plays music from one earpiece. does anyone know if a2dp is the same?
If you only get sound through one earphone, you either have a damaged headset or a damaged jack on the MDA. The combo headset/mic for the MDA is available from T-Mobile but it's about $25 (they gotcha). However, if you just want stereo music, then you'll need the 3.5-to-2.5 stereo adapter--Radio Shack has them. But if the damage is in the unit, not the headset, it won't help.
Not related to A2DP. If you have a T-Mobile MDA, have you gone to T-Mobile's support web site and checked if you should upgrade the ROM? If you need to upgrade the ROM (they tell you how), you'll get A2DP support with the upgrade.
It's DISTANTLY possible that there's a problem with one channel of the stereo amplifier, but you need to eliminate the more likely and obvious candidates first.
i understand that. that's the reason im not looking to get an adapter. rather, i want to use the motorola s9. i guess i'll take the plunge.

Play music via your TP on your car Radio

Found this on feabay today, think it is a very nice idea, and very cheap

Ever Tried it??
I Read the page and it kind of looks weird.. it says the charger does not charge the phone just the transmitter.. Also it lacks a picture of the appropriate connector..
Just wondering if anybody else has tried it?
I have ordered one, and will let you know when it arrives
I would say it does power the handset too, and the connector is Mini USB.
I have one and with the Pro it has a bug to activate the voicelabel when i play my MP3's

It seems that you could get it caught in a feeback loop if you have the FM radio set to listen to the station that you are trying to transmit on.
Wonder what it would do?...hmmm.

Well since you need headphones plugged in or the FM radio won't work, I don't think you could find out!
The Motorola T505 is really nice, though a little pricey. Its basically a bluetooth speakerphone with an FM transmitter.
So your music and calls use BT A2DP, then the T505 broadcasts that over an FM station. It'll even pick the best station and tell you to tune to it. If you're listening to music and a call comes in, it'll pause the music announce the number, and if you answer it, it'll play the call over your car speakers (like OnStar).
I've used it on a 5+ hour trip and never had to charge it, I forgot how long the battery is rated for.
In my car i´ve a CD Changer Radio without a cd changer connected. Those radios have a connection possibility (the normal connector to the changer) at the rear, where you can connect a cable which ends in a 2,5 mm (we call it "klinkenstecker", i dont know the english word). So you can buy an adapter from USB to 2,5 mm "klinke", and your TP gives great sound, in my opinion its better than the car radio ... The manufactor of the connector is called HAMA

P.S.: sorry for my bad english
Phone music through car stereo plus a lot more using iTech Stereo clip
I wrote a similar post a few montsh back (almost a year) in the Tilt section.
a very nifty way is getting a A2DP stereo BT headset connected to the car.
Easy as 1-2-3 if you have a car stereo with either AUX or so called iPod input (eeek). Most of these inputs are either in the center console or armrest storage compartment.
How to Step-1 (Music and Navi):
Get a cheap but good working BT headset with std. headphone out (3.5mm). I use an iTech clip 35 for example.
Get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, if you want to have handsfree at the same time get a LONG cable.
Connect iTech with AUX through cable
Start BT and activate A2DP profile (also known as stereo headset in some devices).
Start BT and AudioManager at phone and enjoy music through your car stereo.
Since A2DP will route ALL output to the BT device and therefore AUX input of your car you may listen to your voice navigation as well. Cool thing Tilt and Raphael will play music while Navi is active and mute music for Navi directions and come back...to music.
How to Step-2 (Music, Navi, Handsfree):
If you use a long 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable you can route the cable and iTech clip somewhere near your head (visor) or even behind the little grid MOST cars have meanwhile regardless if they are equipped with a handsfree BT option or not (take a look at the overhead light and consult with a good shop manual in most cases there is enough space).
Mount the clip and - voila - here is your handsfree.
Hint, if you permanently install the iTech clip extend the charging cable and use a cigarette lighter with USB port to charge.
why not use the cab bt to head phones. and mount the ptt funtion to turn on the app to forward the audio to your bt car system then no wires
Agreed but BTAudio and BTToggle messes with the phone, so how do you pick up a call?

I had my PURE Highway In-Car DAB Digital Radio FM Transmitter stolen which I mainly used to transmit my TP MP3's to the car radio and needed a replacement.
So I bought a FMTalk unit for use in my 3 year old Renault Laguna but it picks up alternator whine interference and crackles too.
I tried these too but had the same whine
Belkin TuneCast II
Sendai XM800 FM Transmitter
In the end I got a Griffin iTrip Auto Universal Plus which works a treat at a reasonable price although it doesn't have the phone talk function like the more pricey Motorola T505 or Parrot MK6100.
The main point was that the FMTalk unit suffers from alternator whine interference

Kaiser Headset which works?

Hi,
I just refund the RC w100, which I bought two wheeks ago and which is not working on all the new roms.
I like to buy a headset for listening music in the gym.
I like to buy one, which is 100% working on ALL the newer roms. It do not have to had a remote, it just have to work fine.
It could be a whole headset or just the adapter to plugin usual headphones.
I would prefer the second choice.
Can you please send me a Link of a product,so that I can order it on ebay?
What do you think of bluetooth headsets. Are they better for just listening music? It have to be stero...
It do not have to be something special, it just have to work. I do not like to make any more refunds...
Thank you for your advices,
Master

I am using a Motorola S9 stereo bluetooth headset for listening to music. I have even used this under my helmet on motorcycle rides. You can control music, next/previous/pause, volume up/down/mute with the headset controls. When you get a call, the music automatically pauses and one speaker acts as a microphone (?), when the call is done, the music starts again.
There are a lot of them on eBay, search for 'Motorola S9', they go from $15-$40 USD.
I also have a 3-in-1 adapter like this one : eBay Item # 270447310297
It plugs into the htc jack and lets you connect an htc headset, usb connection, and a 3.5mm stero plug for connecting regular headsets. I use this on place with a set of noise-canceling headphones, works great, but a little more to carry. I have also seen more streamlined adapters on eBay for connecting a headset with 3.5mm plug to the htc phones, like this one: eBay item #260438648187 and #280399218984
Hi,
I just ordered the Jabra BT3030 for 32 USD on Ebay.
Thank you for your advice
using a BT headset isn't draining too much the battery?
I definitly need an adapter for normal 3.5mm jack headsets that works, I once bought on ebay one for a motorola razr phone, but audio was too low, can you confirm those adapters do give high enough audio levels from the kaiser?

I just purchased this adapter (Item# 400080682350) on the bay and almost have to turn the volume down as low as it can go, works great.
I've used the 2nd & 3rd adapters that JJHiemenz listed from off of Ebay. The 2nd one got a short after a while, and the 3rd one works Great because up to now I still use it on my TILT. Better investment if U ask me.

I bought two of these objects and then discovered it was a set of three, so I have SIX adapters now very cheap and very well working, so, being them so small, I took one at office, one in the bag, one at the desk and so on
Jabra BT620s
Jabra BT620s is highly recommended, and pretty affordable. Pairs quickly and easily and works reliably with A2DP on my Kaiser. Just don't try to do heavy WiFi surfing and Bluetooth listening at the same time, it can't handle it
I've got the Motorola S9 and its been working great for almost a year now with many different ROMs. Got mine off ebay, but look out for the chinese ripoffs, the work for a little bit then crap out (learned the hard way).
the solusion is
Jabra BT3030, Jabra BT3030 Rules!
