Any one found a way to get the IR icon to display in comm mgr? I've seen it on MDAs etc so must be possible.....

same thing on the Tmobile Vario II: no IR icon in the comms manager. Odd...

Same on the v1605... and now you mention it, there's no IR option in Settings > Connections!
I don't use IR, so it doesn't actually bother me, but it seems strange that they've included the IR port but no obvious or easy way to enable or control it!

I've found it referenced here (MDA)
http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm51104.htm#turn_on_infrared1

To enable IR:
Start...Settings...Connections...Beam.
Tick "Recieve all Incoming Beams"
If you already knew this I apologise but it has been this way with all wm5 devices I've used!
Phil

The point is CommManager is a shortcut with a hardware button, so less fumbling around with Start | Settings etc etc 2 presses and you're done....

Bluetooth System-Tray Icon Issue

...long time lurker; first time poster...
did a search on this once and if it's here, sorry i missed it:
what is the reg-locale for ensuring the Bluetooth System-Tray Icon is enabled to launch when bt is active. since performing the following reg-edits, it no longer appears.
Increasing font cache and screen performance:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE"
Change "limit" from "8192" (default) to "16384"
Increase general performance:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\"
Change "CacheSize" value from "0" to "4096".
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize=0x1000(4096)"
Change "EnableCache" value to "1"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\"
Change "ReplStoreCacheSize" value to "4096"
Enable Cleartype in landscape mode:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ClearTypeSettings]
Change "OffOnRotation" to “0”
also... i did this one and then reversed it since i learned (after the fact) that cingular 8125 is already b/g:
Enable 802.11g:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS
Assign a value of 1 to dot11SupportedRateMask
Assign a value of 8 to dot11SupportedRateMaskG
thanks to anyone making time to reply!
can someone confirm that their actually is a bt icon that resides in the system tray (top bar) when bt is enabled???
maybe it was a fluke that i actually saw it there for a brief period today?
maybe i'm seeing things?
I have not seen that icon in WM5. But I would like to have it there.
Oh its there alright. In fact, in the online help somewhere on my 8125 it actually lists the icons and their descriptions. One of them is the BT icon.
Its beyond my why there isn't an application that can indicate with a headset icon to notify you if your phone is paired to a BT earpiece. Someone had posted once PhoneAlarm did it, but alas. It does no such thing.
If anyone else knows of a program that will tell you if you're currently connected to a BT device, please speak now!
Ok, found out where the icon is listed. Go to the main WM5 online help on the device and go to Personalizing your device>Over of the Today screen>What do these status icons indicate?
Towards the bottom you'll see the icon... IT EXISTS IT EXISTS!... sigh
it does because today... it appeared for a moment. it played peek-a-boo while device was bugging-out. glad to know i wasn't seeing things. i wonder if having the clock reside in the sys-tray has anything to do with it???
i have found this application http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1319 to at least show when the BT is on. It also tries to connect to a headset when there is an incoming/outgoing call. Not having a headset myself, I have not been able to test this function, but bt does turn on on a ring and turn off when I end the call.
i got this cab from somewhere here in the forum which shows the bt icon on the system tray, to allow you switch on/off bluetooth, i beleive it was designed for the universal but it works fine with my kjam (wizard).

Thanks! This .cab works great.
Now I only need the same type of icon for wifi. Anyone got such .cab file???
Works Great on KJAM JASJAR and EVEN A T O M !
Thanks.
I tried it on my k-jam but unfortunatelly... nada
I downloaded the cab file to my pc through the link, then copied the file to my devise and run the installation therein...
Am i missing something?
Weird
I installed this, and nothing happened, so I deleted the program, using "remove program" from Settings/System, and it started working. Go figure.
yeah,it works good on MDA Vario(czech TMO firmware)
pls have u got same cab for wi-fi ?

Today Plugin - Wireless (Universal tweak, works on Wizard)

Not sure if this has been posted in the Wizard forums before but i just found this in the Universal forums and now have a new Today plugin that displays the status of my Wireless connections. It seems to work for everything except GPRS
Just add the keys below to the Wizards registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
For the full info on this, check the Universal forum here:

Cheers,
Chris

There is a photo in the Universal post but here's a screenshot of my K-JAM. The items only seem to activate on the Today screen when you enable the Particualr Wireless mode. As WiFi is disabled as soon as i connect ActiveSync i enabled WiFi in Comm Manager and quickly took the screenshot before WiFi was turned off, hence the unavailable status.
Note you cannot interact with this plugin. it is purely display only.
CHeerts,
Thanks puckster shows up on the list of the items list/today but not on the screen. I assume that is cuz I have no wifi connection right

When I added the entry, I had to go into the Today setting and uncheck, then re-check "Wireless" which made it appear. At a minimum you should see a bluetooth symbol that says on or off.
If you still can't get it to show up, double check the dword entries you created.
Btw - thanks for bringing this over to the Wizard forum Puckster..it's a handy little Today item.
Mine displays Carrier / Flight Mode & Bluetooth as well as WiFi status.
If WiFi is disabled it does not display on the today plugin however my Bluetooth is always displayed there even when turned off. The Carrier (Vodafone in my case) changes to Flight Mode when you enable it.
I would possibly re-check the registry keys. Also i just remembered i did add 2 extra keys to my registry that werent mentioned in the Universal thread.
I have attached a registry export of the key i created on my K-JAM so maybe you could use this as template as it works on mine.
NOTE: All of the keys are decimal dword entries except DLL which is a string.
Chris
Thanks for your help and I have rechecked everything and all seems ok. Phm reg editor can't seem to import the reg file you gave me ;(
It's nice to have the indicators...but I wish they didn't require the real estate of a whole additional Today bar. I would love to find a way to put indicators like that in the icon tray at the bottom (just above the Contacts soft key image).
this is exactly what i wanted much appreciated.
no go here, but I'm on an old, old ROM
Thanx Puckster, worked like a charm
Exactly what i was lookinf for ty again

You need to be using the new AKU2 roms for this to work
which answers "meschle"'s question - assuming he's still on 1.6.7.1
this is excellent... cheers guys!

Have the same on Himalaya
Hi,
I running WM5 on my Himalaya and I have it by default. However, when I tap in the area, it takes me to the Comm Manager or Wireless Manager.
Same on the Wizard or should I check potential differences in the reg?
Cheers,
Hal.
yes. please check the differences. When I click on it, it does nothing.
Thanks.
Having a friend check on his PPC 6700 once he finishes the upgrade.

ammar you are the best man, I have tried all other methods. yours only worked. God bless you.
I ran ammar's cab. The Wireless box appears in my Today screen, and I tried checking and unchecking it, tried soft resets, even tried a re-install of the cab file. I have a T-Mobile MDA, and I have SPB Today Plus and PHM Traylaunch running. I'm using the black theme.
Anything else I might try?

Bluetooth Toggle As Today Plugin

Is there any application that makes putting bluetooth toggle as today plugin possible in WM5 ????
Please Help !!!
Maybe Like This One -->
Thanks in advance
download and install batterystatus. Very easy to find as it is all over this forum. Go to the options and select the Tray Launch Tab. You will be able to add bluetooth,wi-fi,phone, as well as many other options to the tray at the bottom of your screen.
this should work
found this somewhere, i have it installed and it works good.doesnt take up much space either.
As an alternative, Vijay codes up a bunch of really handle utilities, and one (VJvolubilis http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis) can toggle BT. Then all you need is a today screen shortcut to his prog with the right suffix. cLaunch should do it if you want it on the today screen instead of the tray, or even create a drop-down menu controlled by a hard key with something like WM5NewMenu. All these are free, but I'm sure the developers would love a donation!
Theres a registry hack on ppcgeeks that enables that and wifi on your today screen if I find it i'll post it
BT on today-you find it???

I have been searching for this for a while now. I have started using phone weaver and turned everything else off but BT. See cab and thumbnail. In thumbnail look in bottom right corner of today screen for activated BT! I would like this to happen without running Phone weaver, seems to take up a little more memory than I would like for this type of app, but it works great and I am happy with it. Just what I wanted, if I could actually get rid of the few little icons to the left of the BT I would be VERY happy thats my main gripe here...
Cheers!

ciclebt.cab.... and assigne to hardware button. or use as app via applauncher programs.
You can use btIO-mini (see attached file). In this zip there are 2 files.
I made this for 2 reasons. The first is to have a quick toggle via HTC Home integration, and the second ist to be able to turn on/off BT via voice command.
1. bluetooth.lnk -> put this in your \windows\startmenu\program files\ folder
2. btIO-mini.exe put this in \program files\btIO\
3. Make a shortcut from your favorite launcher today-plugin to btIO-mini.exe
Make a softreset, after that you can use voice command to turn on/off bluetooth.
There is no visible indication, like pop-up or message box that tells you which state BT is. The program just looks in which state BT is and if it's off it turns BT on in connectable (invisible) mode, and if it's on it simly turns BT off and exits.
So this is not exactly what you asked since it is not a today plugin but maybe it will help you.
Cheers
EDIT: Be warned! The program icon is ****ing ugly. Will have to find a better one...
Thank you guys for your response ....
But I'm asking about the plugin in the attached picture ...

Comm Manager - display not showing

Help, I'm not sure what I've done but when I start comm manager, the menu buttons show but the screen display does not!
I've tried downloading 3rd party app replacements but they don't seem to deal with the HD screen - part of them show on screen but the rest of the screen shows the background.
Can anyone help, please!
thanks
Paul
..............
Got into the same problem a couple of week back after installing and uninstalling 15-tab TF3D.
What did you do to get there?
My only way out short of a complete reset was to install "mROM Opal Diamond Comm Manager". Google it.
This is less than optimum as there is some problems with the display but gets you going.
If someone has a proper answer, thanks to let us know!!
I too have this problem which I assume was caused after I tried out Panosa's COMMS manager tab. I'm sure this must just be a DLL or something that has been over-written and can be restored but we need the help of an expert to point this out.
Panosa, is there anything that you overwrite that needs to be restored for COMMS manager?
Thanks. That kind of fixes it. I now have 2 com manager shortcuts. Both "appear" to lead to the same app but, one works and one doesn't!
As you say, if anyone has a better answer, please do let us know!
OK, found the problem. WHen there are more than six items selected for the comm manager, it cannot show them as on/off buttons. It defaults to LARGE buttons on the screen but the problem is that there is a bug with Manila and the background page is transparent.
SOLUTION: download schaps advanced config 3.3. In the MENU | MORE SETTINGS | COMM MANAGER, ensure that only six (max) items are selected. Then change the BUTTON STYLE to ON/OFF and voila... a normal Comms Manager returns.
My only problem now is that with all my messing about trying to get this right My 3G button appears to have lost it's icon ... and functionality
First class help- Many thanks. That does solve the problem. Well done.
Hope your 3G comes back soon.
Happy new year!!!
as golightlygl said : it seems that on touch HD the 3g functionnality of comm manager doesnt work. When clicking on the button it doesn't do anything. I've been searching on the net net for quite a moment now and I didn't find an solution.
Someone has an idea ?

Thank's, but I was looking for comm manager that has Beam and GSM on/off in it! This one doesn't
just a little question and a headsup:
Q: That Comm Manager cab that is posted, does it also contain the new wi-fi settings, bluetooth connect dialog and phone-settings?
(I have mine cooked in so don't need it, but it's nice knowing what it contains and what it doesn't contain).
The other thing:
The HD Weather Tab link that is posted is a link to the version from the Touch HD. The one you asked for in your screenshots is the (newer) one from the Rhodium Manila. I don't if there is a separate tab for yet.

The detail goes in the on/off switches. The new Comm Manager, you can click on the line 'Wi-Fi', and separately on the on/off switch. Clicking the switch turns it on/off, clicking on the word / text goes to the setting screen.
I have it yeah, but the only _few_ versions I've seen are ment to be cooked in, I never seen a CAB. Kinda the reason why I asked what that cab was that was posted, because it is (or would've been) the first CAB of the new Comm Mananger and setting-screens.
The squished graphics aren't 'fixable'. That screen is ment for a 480x800 device and is just plain resized to fit your 480x640. On the new RhodiumManila VGA port they didn't just resize, but actually modified the layout so it would fit and make more sense on a 480x640 screen, so yeah. it fits and looks better .
Why don't you take a new ROM with all of this in it and working? Because a lot of the new 'toys' out there require a custom ROM with newer build anyway.

For the next time, launch Advanced Config, goto Menu\More Steengs\Comm Manager. You'll be able to select the CommManager style (Big button or ON/OFF button) and the items displayed from the following list (Flight mode, Phone, Bluetooth, Wireless Lan, MS Direct Push, Data Connection, Beam, Ringer, Activsync, VoIP, Internet sharing and 3G)
By the way p.brazauskas, what's the point of getting the beam switch when there's no infrared on a Diamond ? It's totally pointless, isn't it ?

As I read in this forum, Beam manages bluetooth, and when it's turned off it saves power (bluetooth doesn't work if beam is off).
Also why would developers put beam swith in they software, if it was useless?
