My 8125 won't let me do a soft reset all of a sudden using the power button. Does anyone know how else I might be able to reset it?
Other than this problem it's working fine so I don't want to hard reset it.
just wondering? Have you ever reset using the "reset" button instead of the power button
And installing such programs as SPB Pocket Plus, you can asign soft reset to any hardware button, or run it from the start menu
Use stylus to do soft reset - hole next to infrared. Or use program below to do it instead - copy to device and make a link to the file through file explorer.

Hi everybody,
I just can't seem to reset my K-Jam. I tried it a dozen times but it still is a soft reset. Ok before everybody get's angry: I know how to hard reset (hold the two side top buttons and press the reset button). I tried it in different timings like first holding down the two side top buttons then pressing the resetbutton and holding it for almost a minute. Or first pressing and holding the reset button and then the two buttons but it is always a soft reset.
I guess it is a soft reset because I don't get the calibrate screen thing.
Any tips here because I want to get rid of the slowdowns from the virusprogram....?

Hi,
I had the same problem. Theres a facility in settings called 'Clear Storage'
start>settings>system>'Clear Storage'
this actually does a hard re-set.
Thanks Webster,
I didn't think of that one! That did the trick!

Hold down the Comm Button and Voice Button continuously while tapping the reset hole.
As long as you keep holding down the two buttons, the screen will go black and soon prompt you to hit Send to hard-reset (wipe the unit), or any other key to continue with a soft-reset (reboot).
Thanks Beyondthetech,
I'll try that next time when I need it  .
Great blog you have! Has been very useful in making up my mind.
I'll install TT 5 later now I know how it can be done.

Just a small update
Just to let you guys now. I finally found out the proper way to hardreset.
The trick is not to let go of the Communications and Voice Command button until you have stopped pressing the soft reset hole. Just wait with releasing the two buttons until there is a message on the screen asking you to press the Sent key to hard reset.
Another funny thing is that you can restore a backup (made with Sunny Backup) on another K-Jam device. It still runs. This came in handy because I exchanged mine for another because of some hardware problems.

Which one is the "Sent key".
the telephone "call" key (green handset) (left side)
I just got my Orange SPV M5000 (Universal)... but there arent any icons or shortcuts for me to soft reset the phone.
Even when i press the power button, it just turns the screen off and back on. Even when i hold the power button for long, it still doesnt soft reset.
Can someone help?
Have you tried poking the soft reset button, just next to the USB port on the back?
Or try VJEschaton.

thanks, i thought the reset hole in the back next to the usb deletes all my personal data, didnt know it was soft reset. Thank VJ
MY GF broke my Uni, (twisted screen 360 degrees), I am trying to hard reset it, but whenever I press both soft keys and press reset, I am being confronted with a option screen, but I can see what it says, does anyone know what I need to press to confirm deleting all data.
0 (zero) to confirm or x to cancel hard reset process
Thanks very much

To do a hard reset:
hold camera and comm manager buttons... keep them held
the press the soft reset button with the stylus
you should get a message, possibly about formatting the memory,
now you can release the cam and comm manager buttons
press the green call button, to format the memory
you should be back to the original operating system, without any other programs..
remember to back up contacts with activsync, and anything else on your ppc, because it will be wiped.
Help guys,
I've read the manual, but i am unable to HARD RESET my HTC Herald, I always SOFT RESET the phone because I have software applications problems - but I want to do a full hard reset, hoping it fixes the phone - (the SOFT RESET doesnt work).
I know you're supposed to hold the reset button down with your stylus after holding the two soft keys, but the moment I touch the Reset button with my stylus it immediatly soft resets...
Any ways to get around this?
you should be pressing the reset button WHILE holding the two soft keys. Make sure you keep holding them. The hard reset confirmation screen won't appear until you release them though

Click to collapse
witch keys are the soft keys
On my Herald one only needs to press the two soft-keys, NOT the reset button on start up. In conclusion, 1. turn off device 2. turn on device and directly press the two soft-keys. By doing this at least I get some text on the screen and that I should press send to do a hard reset.
