Is it just my device, or does this happen to everyone? When I soft reset my device all the ring tones, notifications go back to the Windows defaults! Is this supposed to happen, and can you stop this happening so after a soft reset the notification sounds keep the values I want?
Many thanks

the phone will not stop alarming and it does not give me the option to turn off the alarm or even see the notification. I have tried a soft reset and also turning off all alarms, along with the notifications and sounds settings. If I turn all the sound settings down to zero the phone does not audibly alarm but it still vibrates, even though the vibrate feature is turned off. All started when I dropped my phone.
I cannot figure out how to fix this, and its driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a notification problem - use check notification to delete duplicate notifications (only delete these not all of them) Click options/settiings and tick both boxes. There may be a null notification that is often a problem that you will need to click on and delete.
Run exe on pc desktop after activesync your device.
how do you get there
I cannot find the area that you are talking about. can you give a more detailed way of getting to that area with the names of the windows that I need to click on? Thanks,
Dave

I assume the program is installed on your device. Click on check notifications icon in startmenu\programs. Click on options then settings and tick remove duplicate events box and remove script 0x000 box then ok. Then click clear and it should clear all duplicate notifications for you.
I actually had the exact same problem on my 9100. After a couple of days I simply went ahead and made a hard reset....and havent had the problem since
Jakob
I had this problem a couple of times as well. Clearing duplicate notifications (using CheckNotifications or MemMaid) and the offending notification does NOT solve the problem. It will stop the errant alarm, but the next time one of your regularly scheduled alarms goes off, you will have the exact same problem. It's as if there's some error in the program which is responsible for creating the little box with the alarm message in it and switching the left soft key ot a dismiss button.
So unless you plan on never again using your alarm clock or setting reminders for anything, jacking with the notifications will not solve the problem.
The only way I have been able to fix the problem is with a hard reset. I'm sure there has to be some other way, but I sure haven't found it yet.
Is there a cure for this or no? I just downloaded check notification and ill give it a shot, but so far it shows no duplicate alarms on my system which i find hard to believe...
Did you tick both boxes in the options and delete a notification called null - have to click and hold to delete it. The alarm notifications are under clock.exe - delete all manually if not showing up duplicates. (click and hold)
Don't use WM 5 alarms at all
I use ActiveKitten's Chronos Alarms - no worries at all!
I also had this problem and a hard reset was the only thing I could do. Afterwards I restored my backup and never had the problem before.
I have a real problem with the clock alarm that I simply cannot solve. I use the Helmi AKU3.3 ROM.
I have an alarm that goes off every morning at 06.40 even when the alarm is turned off! I have used CheckNotifications and Memmaid to delete it (it appears in the notification queue). However, as soon as I do a soft reset, it reappears. Dismissing it and then deleting it again has no effect.
I intend to follow the advice elsewhere on the forum and use a third party alarm, but only once I have managed to stop this one going off (as I have to turn the volume off in the night!!!).
Help please!
have you tried changing the settings?

raymonds - yes - I had tried that but the alarm still goes off, even when all alarms are disabled.
Try not to soft reset it after you delete the queue. Switch the device off and on (and preferrably wait for 5 mins before doing a soft reset).
Had the same problem with a P3600 was driving me nuts, but i install memmaid, this cleans your duplicate notifications.
Cheers

That's great - the five minute delay after deleting with memmaid (which I had tried so many times before without any delay!) did the trick!
Thanks
All of a sudden, my XDA no longer saves settings for my phone or for reminders. For example, I have to constantly change my ringer to Vibrate and Ring, then (after a reboot I'm assuming) it changes back to just Ring.
For reminders, Flash Light and Play Sound (one of the most important things!) have to keep getting rechecked after a reboot. I'd rather not rebuild as I have a LOT of apps on this device.
Does anyone know of reg settings or any other way to get this to stop resetting?
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Im having the same problem i think!
My phone keeps vibrating without playing a ringtone, even though its set to "Vibrate and ring".
it's like its always on "vibrate mode", no matter what i try to do.
what rom are you using??
I am using the O2 ROM upgrade straight from their site. It was fine for the longest time; just noticed it about a week ago.
It could be something in your notification queue, this is the cause of most alarm/reminder/profile problems. I recently posted a long and detailed HOWTO for anyone that needs to fix or just spring clean their notification queue, check it out:

I did a search of the forums and found 2 post without any solution to this problem. It started happening today to me and I've tried almost everything to make it work, i dont want to resort to a hard reset. Does anyone know how to solve this? My vibrate motors work fine as I just reverted back from an HTC Magic Port and my messages were vibrating perfectly fine.
Bump Still searching, found info that suggest a reboot removes this or setting the volume all the way down to silent then to vibrate would force it to fix itself. My G1 Still is not vibrating but the engine is perfectly fine because I keep testing it with a Magic Rom (H5.0.2).
Well, the obvious question is, have you gone into the messaging app and set it to vibrate?
Done all the sets already to properly troubleshoot the problem. Deleted any program having to do with calls and sms and still nothing.
Well then the only thing left is a factory reset. Once thats done make sure to go back into the messaging app and set it to vibrate.
If that doesnt fix it and you are running a rooted phone then reflash whatever firmware you are running.
An actual answer!
I had the same problem as you... i just got my phone yesterday, and I've been trying to get it to vibrate... and finally i found out how to! Go into messaging app (if a thread is open, click the MENU button press "more" then "all threads"); click the MENU button; press "settings"; at the very bottom of the list press "vibrate".
i have a maple i turned on vibrate and after tuning off vibrate the icon is still showing at the top beside the battery icon. how can the icon be removed, i have tried soft reset. any ideas thanks

not necessary.
just set to normal profile then go to settings, sound and under ring, you should see "vibrate" which is not what you desired. change it back to your ringtone and you're done.
also keep in mind that if you have any sort of ringtone manager like ringo or photo contacts those might be the culprit. I have ringo and because it overrides windows defaults it sets them to silent so IT can control your rings and alerts.
