Count ActiveSync Desktop Password - Networking

Hi,
I was wondering if could I count the number of fail times in the ActiveSync Desktop Promt Password. I know that the user can try 3 times, but i want to count the times to have a control.
Thanks

Change ActiveSync PIN

I have just started using WindowsMobile. I have a Treo Pro with WM 6.1. I have connected it to my 2007 server with Active Sync. However, I did not understand the PIN for the device and I put in a password that is just too long. How do I reset or change my PIN so I do not have to type so many characters each time I unlock my device?
Thanks
One thing I did was disable the requirement of a PIN when connected to my exchange server. Our security policy required a 4 digit pin, which became a pain.
Here is some information on how to tweak these settings via a registry editor...

Remote Desktop Mobile Configuration

can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to configure the remote desktop? btw i am using windows 7
On the Phone in Remote desktop mobile :-
In the box Computer put your pc's IP address
In the box User put the pc's users registered name (not the computers name) ie the name you use when you log on to your pc guest user etc.
In the box password put in your pc login password
In the box Domain put the full computer name found under my computer properties.
On your pc under my computer properties - remote - tick allow remote access
You should be ok to go - make sure your phone has a data/internet setting enabled and is active.

thank you very much, it funny how you give the simplest instructions and it all works in one go and the rest are so complicated etc haha thanks man
ah there always has to be a problem, 1) i cant see the keyboard even witout full screen. 2) when i try to login i get an error "Logon failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed. Logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced" HELP!!
I had the keyboard problem too.
I use finger keyboard and in the display option of Remote Desktop I ticked "Fit to remote desktop" Be careful it allows you to tick the other box as well.
Also colours = High Color.
As to the other messages it must be a Windows 7 issue of more parameters having to be entered. Also I log off on my pc before I connect.
Hope this helps

Remote Desktop problem HD2/win7

Hello
i connected my HD2 to my PC using the steps shown in the tutorial vids
almost all the steps went good except for when i press connect the log on screen of my win7 appears with a message saying password or user name is incorrect
it is really strange i tried every possible option to avoid that , even i canceled my user name password request just hopping to make it work
but the error msg keeps appearing ..
please help
Hi newbe here. Im having the same brob with mine any Help Plz.
If i remember correctly, no password at all won't let you connect. (not checked that, just a memory)
Also, in win7, go start - control panel, system, advanced system settings, move to the remote tab, and look at the three options at the bottom. If it is set to 'allow connections running remote desktop with network level authentication(more secure) that is probably your problem. Change it to the middle option 'Allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktoip'

Are you on Domain pc ? if then use username as Domain\username or
computername\username e.g Bingo-pc\Bingo
and make sure you have set password for the user name.
Do you want to connect to your home pc or some remote server? Some servers with Win7/WinSrv2008R2 have an issue with a security certificate. I was unable to solve that issue with RemoteDeskopMobile...

yes to my home pc - laptop- i have win7 ultimate
it is really annoying not to be able to connect .. i mean you get all the steps right and your phone actually leads you to your logon screnn and there it stops ....

no i am not on domain pc ... i just have my administrator account username and password thats it
Can you connect from another PC? That would at least confirm or rule-out that it's a problem with RDP on the HD2. It may be something to do with Windows 7, because it works effortlessly on Windows XP.
I have used it HD2 to remote desktop on my dell M1210 running Win7U 64bit with no probs had to sort Kaspersky to let it throught but been fine after that.
Maybe it's your anti virus/firewall.
Incorrect password issue while RDP using HD2
Ok here is a possible solution to the problem for users with Windows 7 64bit Ultimate where HD2 throws Incorrect username password while trying Remote Desktop Connection
I have been trying the user name that i use while logging in.
However that does not work so
Type ‘System Information’ on run/search command on windows 7
You shall see the correct user name you need to use on the right hand panel.
Good Luck Have a good day
RainMan
premium vs. ultimate?
I spent a whole day trying to remote into my Windows 7 Premium from my HD2 - no luck
Do you know if the issue is the "Premium" edition? If it was ultimate it would be easier?
Thanks in advance
no, the premium and the ultimate should be the same.
2 of teh most common mistakes are
1 - you MUST be remoting into an account with a password. If your PC account hasn't got a password set, (or if it has a password but is set to auto log in) it wont work.
2 - IN the system properties - remote tab, in the lower half, three options, dont allow/allow from any/allow only with network level... blah blha.
If it isn't set to the middle option, 'allow connections from computers running any...' then it wont work.
(oh and of course if you are trying to remote in using your mobile data connection, you will need your external IP, not your target PC IP address ((assuming you have a router)) and the router will need to be configured for port forwarding( or set to allow for the PC opening a port using uPnP)

[Q] Avoid PIN for activesync

Hi all,
Just started using activesync towards Exchange server and had to enable the phone lock to get it working (due to Exchange server security policy).
Activesync works great but overall phone usability has decreased considerably when I have to type a 6 digit PIN code everytime I want to use the phone for calls, check calender, run appl etc.
Is there any way to
1) Limit need for password input to only reading mails using Outlook
2) Make sure I only have to type PIN if I havent used the phone for an extended period? Right now I need to type PIN everytime the phone has been in standby..(despite 15 min timeout setting in security lock settings)
3) Cheat phone to accept 3 or 4 PIN code instead of the default 6 PIN.
4) Bypass exchange server policy and remove need for PIN completely (keeping activesync working of course)
Any advice will be highly appreciated!
Best regards
Jens

ActiveSync - Help b4 I buy please

Hi
I am interested in moving from my iPhone 4s to the Nexus 4 but had a question about activesync before I take the leap.
I have a Nexus 7 and that won't play nice with my work exchange account. The message I get is "this server requires security features that your android device doesn't support including xxx.xxxxx.xxx".
One of the requirements my work place has is that I must have a 4 digit password to lock the phone down and that must contain at least 1 number and 1 special character. This must also be changed every month.
I have no issues on my iPad or iPhone where everything syncs nicely but for some reason the Nexus 7 simply won't setup my work emails.
My question is, is the Nexus 4 likely to play nice or will it be the same as the Nexus 7?!
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks
PS. My IT department won't help at all so no point me asking them to amend any settings on my account!
I don't really use Exchange but since the Nexus 7 runs the same Android version as the Nexus 4, I suspect that you will run into the same problems the Nexus 7 has.
Well I took the plunge and unsurprisingly I am getting the dreaded error message (as per first post). I have managed to sync with touchdown and below is a copy of the clipboard when all the settings were being tested.
Checking Certificate...Checking to see if server is self-signed :https://xxx.xxxxx.xx

Given the above does anyone have any idea at call why the stock email won't sync?
Really love the phone but need to get this to work or I'm going to need to go back to the iPhone!
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks
Tarik
