changing the power on function to another switch or double - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello,
i´ve got an problem with my wizard, the power on switch is so sensible that the device goes on by usage in pocket bag. then aku growns and without device locking it is calling from itself.
Is there a setting wich make it possible tu use two buttons simular as power button? A registry hack or special programm?
Thank you and excuse me for my bad school english!?!

What do you want to do, disable the power key and use another key or key combination to switch on, or use another key to switch off?
V

yes, i want to use another button or a combination of two buttons for turning on the device.

I can't say definitively, but I don't think it's possible to entirely disable the power function - you can override the power OFF function, but I suspect that the power ON function is directly connected to the CPU interrupts (at least on xscales, not sure about Omaps). I'm not sure of this, but suspect it from reading the CPU developers' manuals. Anyone tried this before at a low level?
Something you could do is disable the button lock, and then use a custom screen/button lock, so that touching any specified button would wake the system up. That key could then also be assigned a power off function, so you could use a custom key for power on/off. But the power on key would still function I suspect.

Can you remap power on/off button.

I own an O2 Mini & Eten M500.
Is there any possibility of remapping the power on/off button to another hardware key since my actual button is acting funny with me.(it works most of the time, but certain times even if I sit on it it wont power on the device. Power off is not a problem since I programmed it to sleep after xx secs.)
Any developer gurus out there who can develop a prog. for me
Thanks in advance for the help.
I dropped my HTC Hermes device and now the power button is stuck in.
Is there anyway to remap the power on/off function to another hardware button? Specifically the comms button.
well, i would like to delete my message, but dont know how?
i can edit it but i cant delete it, right?
You can use "AE Button Plus" to map all the other keys to other various functions, "power off the device" is among them...
you can even specify actions for single press, double press, triple press or long press for each button.. good luck
ae button or pqzII is okay

Thats quite strange and I've never heard that one before. I'm guessing there could be some oxidation on the contacts of the power button.
As a test to be 100% sure its the button which is the problem, have you tried calling the device to wake it up when the power button refuses to work? Reason being, is that I suspect its actually the device freezing and not waking up rather than just the power button malfunctioning. If the power button refuses to work and you can successfully wake up the device by other means (eg, a phone call) then you can explore other alternatives
how do i map leftsoftkey as the redkey(Red Phone Button) and the redkey as leftsoftkey?
current hardware keymap:
leftsoftkey controller rightsoftkey
greenkey controller redkey
what i want:
redkey controller rightsoftkey
greenkey controller leftsoftkey
reason for tiz is i cant seem to get morphgear to use the redkey or the greenkey even after mapping in the game. by mapping leftsoftkey to the redkey, i can then play the game with "A" "B" buttons using my right hand. so "A" will be mapped to rightsoftkey and "B" mapped to "leftsoftkey"(physically redkey).
i hv tried ae button plus.. tried unbinding redkey still no use. tried binding single press to virtual key too but to no avail.
It could help

Cheers!
Rigging screen off (like PWMP)
I would like help on this too. Is there any way to rig the device so the power button only ever turns on/off the screen (like windows media player does) or at least is there a program or cab someone can design to do this????
Thanks in advance.
I've figured out how to do the above, if anyone wants to know pm me.

Power ON (button) settings

Currently, I can only power on my phone via the power button, but at some point I had something installed (or tweaked some registry setting or something so that I could also press the green/phone button and that would also wake it up. All the other buttons - except power and phone - were locked out and did nothing (once I powered off). Now I can't recall how in the world I did that. Can anyone help me on this? Pleeease?

On mine, it's a setting under keylock.
Start -> Settings -> System
Yeah, I have that, too, but my options are...
Lock all buttons except Power button
Lock buttons if device is locked
Do not lock buttons
If I choose option 2, any of the HW buttons will wake it up. But I used to have it set so that only the power button OR the phone button would wake it up. The messaging, IE, camera, etc. buttons would not wake it up.
Are you saying that you have the option for just the power and phone buttons? If so, maybe it's an OS issue? I'm running WM6.1...
There is no such option for just the power and phone buttons under keylock. Just the 3 options u saw! Maybe a 3rd party app...
I guess it must have been a 3rd party app, then, or something that applies tweaks, but I've looked in AdvancedConfig and SKTools and I don't see it anywhere.
I know I did it somehow. Just hoping someone will recognize this and know how it's done.

power on utility

Is there anyone developing any utilities to be able to power on a PDA (mine is ipaq 210) by pushing an assigned hardware button.
There are no existing ones that power on that I could find.
thanks
The power button?

Obviously I should have been more specific and mentioned that the power button was the only way I could turn it on on the 210.
I want to be able to turn it on with another hardware button assigned like I did on my Axim X5 (and other PDA's).
I think u can do it with AE Button Plus.
Not exactly what you are looking for...
...but under Settings>Button Lock you can select to not lock buttons so that your PDA turns on with every button.
I agree with above, mine turns on with every hardware button I press, not just the power button? Does yours turn off fully or go into standby?
I do not have the button lock option on the ipaq 210. I also emailed the developer of the AE Button to check on the fuctionality as it was not listed on his site (only the power off and the display off were there).
thanks for your replies and suggestions.
I have the same question.
Some devices seem to only allow power button to activate the device.
For 210, I know only two ways able to turn it on: press power button or plug-in/out power cable.

Virtual buttons disabled when screen is off?

Just bought my HD and is loving it. However, the lack of physical buttons is quite frustrating, especially when I am driving.
I like to listen to music with the screen turned off. However, when the screen is off, all the virtual buttons are disabled. Only the physical buttons like the volume and power are active.
Does anyone know if there is a way to enable the virtual buttons even when the screen is off?
i too would be very interested in this. the buttons are not capacitive, but still the ability to wake / power on the phone using the front buttons would be cool
Unfortunately the use of the hardware keys are disabled whilst in standby mode and this cannot be changed
However you can use 3rd party apps like AEBPlus to map other functions to buttons like vol up
i.e.
Volume Up button
One short press > move up
two short press > play
Long press > volume up
and this can be duplicated with different functions to other buttons
Try doing a search for AEB Plus and read up on it. Also search this forum for other methods

I am already using AEBPlus but I need more than 2 buttons. The mapping is done by the application, PocketPlayer, and it doesn't support double press.
Interestingly, when you are making a phone call, the screen will go off initially. You can actually press one of the virtual button to turn the screen back on. So I thought there might be a way to achieve this...
How is your screen getting turned off? By PocketPlayer or by the system's energy-settings? Possibly try Display Switch (yet another little app as Part of psshutXP) for this. Found this in my Touch (ELF) Rom and use it for any app, that doesn't support display-switching itself. Keeps my (hardware)-buttons funktional...

[Q] Re-map the power button to a custom action?

Hi Everyone,
I recently got a Surface Pro. It has one really annoying limitation that seems to belie the whole 'tablet' aspect of the laptop/tablet hybrid theme. Pressing the power button while the computer is awake puts it to sleep rather than simply turning the display off. It doesn't look like Microsoft has included any functionality for simply turning the display off. Unless you wait for it to turn off by itself, you can't use the power button to turn off the display without also putting the computer to sleep. I was able to get around this somewhat by downloading a freeware utility that lets you turn the display off with a custom keystroke (Monitor Off), but I would really like to be able to just turn off the display using the power button instead of having to put it to sleep every time.
One option that Microsoft does include in the power management settings is the option to make the power button do nothing. If I select that option, then nothing happens when I push the power button. My thinking is that combining that option with an app or a hack that re-maps the power button to the keystroke I set in Monitor Off would probably do the trick. Does anyone know of such an app or hack?
