Can I change the Wallaby's BASE-ROM from 3.04.00 ENG Microsoft (WM2003 SE) to 4.01.12 ENG O2-Euro (WM2003 Final) ??? Because few people said that the 4.01.12 is better than 3.04.00 and Final should be better then SE. :?
And which is better, the Final or SE? And is there any possibility that Wallaby can be upgraded to WM 5.0? Is there any version of ROM that compatible with Wallaby and WM 5.0?
And can I downgrade the WM2003 SE to PPC 2002 (which is my old/first version) ?
Mine is O2 XDA 1, ROM Ver. 3.04.00 ENG and Radio: 4.21, protocol 32S54 CPU ARM SA1110 RAM with 206MHz speed, RAM 64Mb, Flash 32 Mb and flash chip type 28F128, model PW10B1 and PocketPC platform.
Thank you so much for your help. [/b]

Yes you can. You have to intsall the new ROM. That ends in having a clean device with th enew ROM. So all data now existing on the device will be lost.

Depends on what you want and what you do with the device.
I would say none of the ROMs is perfect. PPC 2002 is just to old ans some important things are missing, WM2003 has the SD-Card erasing bug, and the SE does not support Volume slider, ...
So you can try all of them and stay at the version that brings most benefit to you.

Thanks a lot
Thank you so much Stefan
... and one final question for you:
what will you do if you have an O2 XDA1 (Wallaby)? What kind of ROM and software that you'll put it inside your Wallaby so your Wallaby's gonna be the best/better (in your point of view of course) ? I just want to know your "mixed ingridients" ....
Cheers ....

Hi!
I read lots of articles about upgrading device soft but i can't get it clear enough. First of all: is it possible to upgrade my XDA/Wallaby to WM2003SE? I know it can be done with XDAII but I have Wallaby...
If Yes, can somebody write a detailed description about upgrading it or just paste in some links where the description and files are? What radio etc you recommend and why?
Here is what I'm running:
Microsoft Pocket PC version 4.20.0 (Build 13252)
ROM ver: 4.01.16 ENG
ROM date: 02/04/04
Radion ver: 4.21.00
Protocol ver: 32S54
What can i do with that? Thanks in advance

Not really true.
There is a WM2003SE Version for the Wallabys.
But it´s protectef by an unknwon key, that uses (i think) the IMEI. Until now it´s not possible to use it on every device, since this key have to be adapted in any way to each device....
Stefan
Damn!!!! and why the hell did they protect it with a key?!?!?
you mean that no one ever can crack that key? ohhh

hi to all!
i got some questions:
1. Are the Wallaby's upgradable to WM2005?? And if NO then why? will there be a release for the phone edition, and why release for the other non phone edition ver only? Dose it have to do with the Memory? 32 too little, min 64?
2. i have T - Mobile Wallaby Model: PW10B1, MS Pocket PC Ver. 4.20.0 (Build 13252), ROM Ver 4.01.16 ENG, ROM Date 02/04/04.
- the question is.......what ver of 2003 is this? SE or just 2003?
thanks.
Releasing An OS particularly the WM2005 (MAGNETO) is a choice of OPERATORS not by the Microsoft .. Microsoft done more than a dozen version of WM2005 for almost all devices and i believe they have no rights to release it in public unless for beta testing which is only for a particular person or group, they leave it to the OEM if they will released it or not ..
as we see a Discontinued product are most likely not supported with all new features and upgrade .. OEM loose all its interest on giving there time and effort for a OS version upgrade that they no longer sell and only concentrated on the newer that they will SELL..
we cannot expect an OFFICIAL release for OLD Discontinued Devices including WALLABY and HIMALAYA ..
HIMALAYA and Typhoon user are just lucky that someone managed to leak it for distribution .. but this leak version is not official and prohibited .. and believe it some people are sometimes risking for this copy .. (dont ask why plss)

It's just WM2003.
There is a ROM Version 3.04.00 that is WM2003SE. But there are some problems with this ROM. Only big difference between WM2003 and WM2003SE is the landscape mode. So I would suggest stay at your working ROM version....
Stefan

I have a SX-56 Wallaby, updated to WM2003, :?
I HAVE to update to WM 5.0, I have to run some software that only runs on Windows Mobile 5.0.
I've been able to re-format to 31.01 MB memory. :!:
I have:
5.22 bootloader
4.20.0 (Build 13349) OS
ROM A.30.09 date: 01/01/04
Radio A.20.10
Protocol 324e4
Model PW10B1
WM 5.0 does not, and never ever ever ever ever will exist for the Wallaby.
Regards,
Neil.

There is just one solution for this:
Take a big hammer, smash it hard on your device. After all is defect, buy a new device (new model) with WM 5.0 on it....

Stefan
By virtue of my 2 x XDAII's failing for whatever reasons (abuse, long-life, etc.), I had to shift to one of my XDAII's (BA) with base OS:
=======================================
WM2003 SE
Version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0)
Processor: Intel(R) PXA263
Memory: 125.77 MB
ROM v.: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM v: 1.40.923 WWE
Model No.: PH20B
=================================
I have found that this phone is WAY SLOWER than the XDAII - it's really incredibly slow! (And I had my XDAII with less RAM available!)
I have had problems connecting in Mumbai (India) with Vodafone (this happens with other units (EDGE modem/XDAII) too, but this is *extreme*!
I have to shut off the radio (put into flight mode) then back on, in order to connect to GPRS, or it simply will not connect!
I have tried flashing the ROM for the radio to 1.15, but I have to edit the file on the unit, else I get the error - it's really very time-consuming!
I'm afraid that all my time that I put into this unit will go to waste if I do not have a stable unit that I can rely on....
Any feedback on this?
Thanks!
Try the T-Mobile's rom or PDA2K's rom in Blue Angel Upgrading section.
The O2 rom bugs me too much.
Also install O2 Asia upgrade (I guess u r running a non asian one thats why BA isnt showing compatibility with ur network. Try upgrading to WM5/6 and see if u have luck on GSM/GPRS since majority of asian networks phail with BA WM5/6/6.1/6.5

Yes, it's the O2 ROM - not sure if this one was the one I bought in SIN or in the UK...any ideas, or way to tell?
Both were O2 branded....

Which is the best upgrade (simplest) to do, stable, with almost no bugs, with a similar to original config/options?
TIA!
well first of all if you want less bugs do not install the OEM crapware (the extrom software) you may even resize the extrom partition to 128 k to use the space as storage
http://alevri.atspace.com/ - updated Shipped roms list and mirrors which i will keep online
My advice is to flash the latest t-mobile 1.42 rom delete radio and extrom update files and flash rom only

Wow - thanks for the tips - wonderful to have the gurus of the BA helping us!
So, how does one delete the radio files?
I unzipped and extracted, then ran the .exe file, which started the RUU update.

Why can't you? Keep in mind that you can only do this only in 2003. So, from what I have read in your other posts you are either in 6.1 or in 6.5 (going back to 6.1). You have to use the Repart_doc and the ExtRom Unlocker tools in order to do so.
Aside from everything, I have been using xplode's version of 6.5 and I am pretty happy with it (both stability and usability)-wise.
If you are absolutely disgusted by it, you should try sun_dream's 20578. Best 6.1 that I have had...
Hope this helps.
@egzthunder1: did back to original rom wm2003 02XDAIIs and other cooked rom in wm2003, but it failed due to physical logic reason when im runnig repart_doc.exe. but when im expand my SX66 its work!! weird thing.
