8125 Left Softkey Changed Itself. - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi there I have a really weird problem, the left softkey on my 8125 changed itself last night while I slept. It is now "Phone" instead of "Calender". I liked it as Calender and I find it useless to have it as Phone when the phone key below it does the same thing. I went into HKCU/software/windows/today and there is no keys option to change. I don't get it. Anyone know a solution? I want my Calender button back.

With your registry editor - goto the today key you mention - create new key 'keys', in keys create new key '112'. Then create 2 new string values in the 112 key. 'Default' with value 'menu' and 'Open' with value ''windows\calendar.exe'' then turn off device with power off key (saves registry values) then power on. (Soft reset often does not save values)

Thank you so much that did the trick, I was just having a hard time wraping my head around it. I just wish I could figure out why it changed itself in the first place.

Changing left menu button on MDA Pro to contacts

If I change in the registry the 112 key to "contacts" it doesn't work. If I change the registry to poutook.exe contacts, it doesn't work.
What am I missing, I use the reg tweak for changing the button from the wiki universal page:
"To change the softkeys on the Today screen
The left-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112', the right-hand softkey settings are at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113'
The 'Default' string value can be changed to whatever text you wish to have displayed
The 'Open' string value can be changed to the program you wish to run when the softkey is pressed "
Solution
Ok, I worked it out.
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts\Contacts.lnk does the trick.
It's a bit long, but I cannot find the correct direct app link. Anyway it works like this.......

is there anyway to edit the right soft key?

I just got my Dual and the right soft key says "ideas" and is a link to the internet, is there anyway to edit that?
I use a little freeware app called 'KeySwop'
Check it out - http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=KeySwop&platform=ppc
you can define your own left/right soft keys of Today screen by editing these registry keys:
left: [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112]
right: [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113]
(default) = caption of soft key
"Open" = target program to open (.exe or .lnk)
You can also use Shaps advanced config tool for it. This tool has except a lot of other options/tweaks an option for keymapping where you can set the soft- and some hardware keys. You can find the tool here.
another option is to use wisbar advance 3 (which also has a ton of other features)
Try this freeware...it works really good

Map more hardkeys

Hi there,
Is there a way to map more hardkeys in Opal? I currently only have "Button1" and "Button1 (Hold)" listed in Settings/Personal/Buttons.
I looked up the keys in registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\
There are actually three folders/keys:
40C1 = Button 1
40C4 = Button 1 (Hold)
40C6 = Undefined?
Can I add more keys by editing registry? Anyone has experience doing this?
I'm going to try this old trick
1. install PHM Regedit (or any other registry editor)
2. go down to this location HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
3. create a key "40C8"
4. Go to the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C5
5. Select all values under that key and copy it
6. Paste it under the new key "40C8" you just created in step 3
7. rename it to suit a readable name like "Backlight"
8. Softreset using some app like psShutXP or pocket plus (and NOT using the hole)
8. now, you can configure this button as u do normally (for the rest of the buttons)
I'll just try some random numbers (eg. 40C1, 40C2...)

I tried the wonderful PQz_CHECK.exe to detect Opal's hardkeys. Problem is that I don't see them in Settings/Personal/Buttons after adding them to the registry with the method you find in my former post.
eg. The big "Action" button is presumably hardkey "400D". I added the necessary data to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\400D but nothing gets listed.
I think only buttons that start with 40Cx are listed in "Buttons".
Maybe someone can find a solution to this? I know there is AEBPlus, but I like poking around
It would be great if we could get all the keys in the "Buttons" menu in Opal's ROMs.

Changing left soft-key

Is there any way to change the left lower soft-key on sense-home screen?
yes, use advanced config - push on menu - more settings - key mapping and you can change the left and right softkeys.

which version of advanced config?
anyone know which registry keys are changed to map left soft key?
The following register keys will change the left softkey into Camera:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila]
"HomeLSKArguments"=""
"HomeLSKPath"="windows\camera.exe"
"HomeLSKText"="Camera"
You can change it into anything you like.
Can you please write the standard entry for the volume adjustments?
Somehow they have been erased. I can jump into the volume menu, but not adjust it with pressing up or down, instead i jump back to where I were.
Thanks
I suppose leaving the enty blank will restore original settings?
I than have a problem with the gfreek 6 taskbar i guess.
Is there a known solution? Or any other hints?
Hi,
any known side effect in changing the left soft key from PHONE to anything else?
I have the HD2 with ROM 172WWE.
I changed the registry entries as you decribed above, nothing changed with the soft key.
Still shows phone.
No much point in having 'phone' or even the top left start menu when we have the hard buttons.
I'll do more searching on start button and also soft keys.

No. I've never had/heard of any problems.

Is it possible to change Softkey on Start Menu?

Hello,
As the title says, is it possible to change the soft key "Lock" to "Back"?
I think it is more natural to have "Back" button here.
how can I make the change?
I think there must be a registry hack to do this, and I have searched through the forums, but I have not found a solution yet.
I disabled Sense, but this "Lock" button does not go away, so, I suppose this may not be a registry hack of Sense, but it is rather WM6.5.
Can someone shed some light on my problem? Thank you.
I like new Sms better
1. Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\\Manila key in your registry
2. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKPath, add it.
3. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKPath to read: \windows\tmail.exe
4. If you don't have a String entry called LandscapeMenuRSKText, add it.
5. Edit the LandscapeMenuRSKText value to read: New SMS
6. If you don't have a string called LandscapeMenuRSKArguments, add it.
7. Edit the value of LandscapeMenuRSKArguments to read: -service "SMS" -to ""
Thanks, but I am talking about Start Menu of WM6.5 (screen with icons in a hexgonal arrangement). On this screen there is a soft key "Lock", and I would like to change it to "Back", if possible...
