Terminal Services, Stereo Headset Button and Email Accounts - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General
Hi All,
I've got a few problems that I haven't been able to solve with the TyTn so far. Any suggestions are appreciated:
I can't seem to connect the terminal services client to any of my computers at home over wifi. I'm getting the "The connection to the server has timed out. Try connecting to the terminal server again." message. I can connect to remote desktop from any computer at home (or remotely via ssh). More befuddling is the fact that the TyTn can ping computers on the network (and access shared folders via total commander) and vice versa. I've checked to make sure that my connections setting and the wifi network are both set to the same network (tried both work and internet) and tried using both ip addresses and computer names to access the computers. I also had a look to see if the licensing registry key that caused problems with some handhelds under wm2003 existed (it doesn't).
Another thing I've been trying to figure out is how to customize the button on the bundled headset. My testing of MS VC with bluetooth yielded less than stellar recognition but the wired mic is very reliable and I would like to be able to use it in the car without touching the phone. I'd like to make the headset button activate MS VC instead of voice speed dial when held (I've done the listed steps to disable voice speed dial and replace it with MS VC but VSD still seems to be there and activate when I hold the headset button). I'm hoping there is registry key that controls this button but I haven't been able to locate one yet.
Finally, I would like to be able to add email addresses to poutlook that are the same ones used on my desktop and have them recognized as the same inbox and sync when the devices are synced. My brief look at the controls and the manual didn't seem to indicate a way to do this without exchange. Has anyone done this successfully (or know if it can be done)?
If you've gotten this far I owe you a thank you just for reading this post
I managed to enable the call button on my Jabra BT620 bluetooth stereo headset to start Voice Command - see global registry hacks in the XDA wiki. I assume it will work for a wired headset.
MS Voice Command activation from BT headset:
"Now this one is sweet and makes the JASJAR the daddy for voice commands.
Install Voice Command to the default location.
Fire up a registry editor
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
Modify the string marked "path" from the default \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\?VoiceCMD.exe
Now, when you press your BT headset connect button, MS Voice command will fire up and take commands through the headset. It's reponses will be played through the headset too. "

Thanks for the reply ChrisNash,
The registry modification you refer to works for me as well -- with a bluetooth headset, however, the wired headset button still activates voice speed dial.
Terminal services client
Have you managed to get this to work yet as I've the same problem on my XDA EXEC??????????

Hi all, Just a smalll question. I have installed MS Voice Command instead of this stupid software installed by default. Everything is working fine. However, when I connect my bluetooth headset and I push the voice commande on it, I got the defaut voice command software which comes up instead of MS Voice Command... Does somebody know what do I have to change to have MS Voice Command even with my headset ? Thanks, Mav ----------------------- ROM 1.13.72 FRE Radio 1.03.00 ExtROM 1.13.166 FRE

Autosync with bluetooth
Hi, I've enabled an ActiveSync connection with my Trinity and my computer via bluetooth.. What I really want though is to have it connect automatically once I'm within range and everything is on, how would I do this? Thanks for any help!
Hi, How did you manage to sync via Bluetooth. Thanks
Haven't done this yet, I need to buy a dongle... but according to the info I've read you need to setup a pan service that is the equivilent of a wifi ad hoc connection...

Question for El_Mariachi So, you have your PPC rigged up to sync through bluetooth each time you put it in the cradle? That's my goal, but I'm having some trouble you might be able to help with. Here's my situation: - PC and PPC are paired - Sync is possible through bluetooth manually - In the Activesync program on the PPC I go to Menu>Connections> The "Synchronize all PCs using this connection:" box is ticked However, the drop down list of options only contains "`USB" and nothing else If it isn't too much trouble, could you check your registry here: HKCU>ControlPanel>Comm And please list all the values under that Key? I really appreciate it.
Apparently you have to sync manually there is no other way. I'm not sure how to check the registry but let me know and I'll be happy to post the values In terms of syncing... Pair your PPC with your PC Enable an incoming COM Port from your PC via bluetooth In AS on your PC, allow connections through that COM Port On your PPC, in AS, select connect via Bluetooth, select your PC, ActiveSync should appear and check the box. Then connect via bluetooth again and it should work!
Exporting regsitry keys If you have a registry editor installed, it should be easy. If you don't have a registry editor installed, and you don't really want to install one I will understand. On the other hand, if you don't mind then a popular freeware is fdcsoft's task manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32913&d=1168267333 Once installed, open the program and find the regedit tab. Open HKEYCurrentUser>Comm>Rasbook (see Rasbook location attachment for a pic) and look and see if there isn't a key called Bluetooth, or perhaps `Bluetooth. If there is, then tap and hold that key and select Export. (See Bluetooth Export attachment for another pic) If you zip and attach that file then I can download it and see if it works on my PPC. Again, if this is too much hassle then it's cool, but it might really help me out. Thanks. John
One "half" solution to ActiveSync via bluetooth
This might be helpful for people who has problems to find ActiveSync service while pairing phone to pc. First you have to pair devices then go to registry on ppc: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device Find device key which points to your pc ( inside of the key, there's value "name" ) and write the key's name down. Delete pairing between pc and phone either from bluetooth settings or simply deleting the key which name your wrote down. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\ActiveSync if there's any keys ( "folders" with hexadecimal numbers ), delete them. Create new key named with the value you wrote down and create two new values: Nameriority Type:REG_DWORD Data:0 and Name:RasEntry Type:REG_SZ Data:your pc's bt hostname Now just try to make pairing again and ActiveSync service should be appearing. I had earlier working connection which crashed for some reason. And with this trick I managed to get it working again. My phone is Elf and ROM i'm using is ShadoW 2.1 TE. I hope this is useful for someone. -Teemu
I have a problem with Bluetooth in HD2
Hi all How can I receive file via Bluetooth without PASSKEY?? And how can I make auto acceptance for the receiving? My device is HTC HD2 Thanks
Still waiting
Can U help me
Receive Bluetooth Files Without Entering a Passkey By default when a device which is not on your paired devices list is going to send you a file by BT OBEX Push, the BT manager requires a passkey. You can't disable this in the normal control panel but you can in the registry. Go to HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\Services\0002 Change Encryption from 1 to 0 (to not use a passkey) Change Authorization from 1 to 0 (to receive all files without asking) org thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Thanks maklik Its working
