Is there any way of improving sound quality from the standard speaker on the HTC TD ?
The speaker works but is very tinny when compared to other phones in hands free mode.
Is this a hardware issue, and hence nothing can be done, or is there a software frig that will help sound quality ?
hi, it seems when ever a sound question is asked no one seems bothered or have covered it a million times before. I asked the same question and had 300 views without an answer. Sorry pal but if its a sound question i fear youll have to ask in another forum as it seems taboo here. Im currently using my spare diamond and testing some other speakers inside it as there is so much speaker room its untrue, when i find , If i find a good one with a good fit ill pm you and let you know
cheers for now
let me know too when you finished testing please.. btw how much room is in there ? (dimensions)
We need a response from the pros at this.
cos im not ready to pop it open just yet lol

Can't you just post a guide here so everyone would know?
U can increase the sound level using tweaks in Advanced configuration v3.2 but sound quality will decrease .
i think this issue related to the hardware, not to the software issue.

usally with these things you will find if you dont get an answer
then the question has been asked a million times before and everyones
fed up of answering it.this question has been asked since the
diamond first became available.
best to use search first and if nothing comes up thats relevant
then post a question.
thanks for your help guys.
I would, as I am sure others to , be interested in a public posting if you find a speaker that fits and improves the sound quality.
perhaps this can help, woudnt try it myself tough

Nice, but it looks like a gsm phone. My cdma phone looks like I need to remove the entire internal back cover. It looks like one piece.

I disagree . The question of low sound has been from a software , tweak point of view but i asked about replacement speaker inside the phone itselfd from another phone as theres so mcuh room i could pack for a weekend away as well compared to many other phones
Did anybody try that mod or changed the speaker?
i d be curious to hear if it really improved the sound
I used to have a Samsung i730 (WM5) which had "SRS WOW", a software solution that helped with the perception of lousy sound. It did work quite well in making the speakers sound better. I don't know if that could be easily ported over.
Unfortunately, I no longer have that phone.
Not sure how this affects the quality.

Ahh, never mind. Plenty of people on the SRS case with no consistent solution found yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417636

I opened up my phone , and i opened the speaker also (first cutting step in the movie).
But next, after inspecting the main speaker housing it seems to have multiple connections wich lead to a black foil covering the housing.
I assume this foil is used as antenna for one or more of the phone's radio's/recievers.
So i assembled it back again without cutting a square trought the housing (step 2) as that would cut a large hole trough the antenna foil.
Volume gain from only opening the speaker (first step in the movie) is not noticable.
I've been doing some searching for an armband for the pro but have yet to find a specific one made just for the pro.
Anyone have any luck with this? I understand it is a bit larger than what I would usually take to the gym but it would be nice to consolidate much of my activities into one unit.
The closet I've come to finding is someone posted that an iPhone belkin armband worked for their Diamond. Not sure if this would be a good buy.
Any help would be appreciated.

armband. LOL. I'm looking for the same thing and i dont know to translate it either.
Wristband maybe
( I wouldn't like to have it higher on my arm )
You might be interested in this, however, the one review I found wasn't very positive.

I'm getting a tailor to custom make a breathable mesh wristband which allows me to slide out the top section and use the kb and have a cover to close it when not in use. It will work on both my wrists
As for armband you can get those meant for handphone from sports shop like NIKE sports shop
If fashion is not important for you...
Please take a look at the page here:

Scroll down till "Armhalterung"
I found it, when i was searching for a "arm-based" outdoor-solution for my Palmcase mini(p)
Keoma
Thank you for the input gents. I suspect I won't have this device on release date so I'll have to mull over these options a bit. Appreciate it.
Try ebaying for a universal mp3 armband. You should be able to find one that can fit the Touch Pro's dimensions.
You tried this:
S9 Fitness Pack
I got it and it fit the TyTn II perfectly (obviously came with the S9 headset as well!)

Hmm. I want the S9 HD's. But I might order just the armband by itself!
Link to just armband: [Link]
i just wish the s9 hds worked outside! even if i hold the phone in my hand in front of me the connection is still ****
and wen its cold i want my hands in my pockets! agh
Bump
Anyone ever find anything that worked?
I found these - http://www.amazon.com/BLACK-CELLET-...ts=1&colid=&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending
Buy it has bad reviews about some glue like substance and such.
I'm desperately looking for an armband that has a clear cover over the front so I can control the phone.
Cord hole is not too important. I work out with my Jabra BT8010 Stereo bluetooth headphones all the time (LOVE them!)
That motorola S9 stink! Had one for a day before returned to newegg. Ear pieces were uncomfortable. But the solid band on the back of the head was annoying for working out! Benchpress with music was impossible (bench would knock off the headphones)
What do you use to protect your X1? Since this is quite a stretchable phone compare to many others I have used. I am looking at this full body shield
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
Seems expensive for a bit of plastic, but also looks very good. Anyone has this?
looks very good? pardon me but the video is of a iphone not an x1 unless im missing something
If you do a search you will see that this has been answered before... and the accessories part of this forum would be the best place to start looking also in the other thread re this shield (not great by the way apparently) you will find the place where reports of this particular shield are less than flattering...
I use martin shields for my screen, its totally awesome, crystal and strong.
I only have a pdair case for my phone that goes on my belt/waist band...
Duplicate thread, please use the other thread in the "Accesories" sub forum of the X1.
Thanks
Dave
Hi All
My wife's recently got a Hero but she's found a problem with her long nails making typing difficult (capacitive screens don't work with fingernails!)
I've bought a couple of different types of iPhone stylus' but, though they do work, you have to really press quite [scarily] hard to make them register.
Can anyone recommend a stylus that works smoothly and without too much pressure?
Thanks!
The Pogo ones seem to be the most common iPhone ones, have you tried one of them?
Not yet - will seek one out. Thanks!
Did a quick search on Ebay - Item number: 390096569342 free postage too
Anybody have any joy resolving this?
Not yet. I was going to try a Pogo stylus but then found a review that suggests that it may be no different than the other stylus' I've bought. I can actually believe this because I've now managed to test the stylus' I've bought on an actual iPhone and they work far, far better than on the Hero
...not sure where to go from here.
It seems that HTC has lodged a stylus patent specifically for capacitive screens
http://htcpedia.com/news/htc-patents-stylus-for-capacitive-touch-screene.html
Thanks for the update. there has to be a lo-tech fix for this though. I'm going to have a think & a Google search & I'll let you know what I turn up
I found this but I'm not sure I like the idea of metal on glass
http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2009/06/diy_iphone_stylus.html
Update: Metal actually works on the screen!
Update: got this now http://www.flickr.com/photos/antisynoptique/3225070344/in/photostream/ my mind is thinking hard. JTHM what do the ends of your stylus' look like?
There's no helping some people.
Have you tried this?
+1 lol
topjolly
You'll be sorry when I make my own lo-tech stylus! I'll show you.
I'LL SHOW YOU ALL!
Sorry,
Sometimes I get a bit carried away, I just think that there is a better way & telling my better half to trim her nails (although it is a good idea) wont really fly
I always wait till my Japanese friends did something wrong and then ask them for Yubitsume. Works like a real finger
i was going to post a picture of a chopped off finger to be a smartass so i did a google image search...
now im mentally scarred for life :/
The best stylus I have ever used is the papermate flexgrip elite M. They come in different colors and double as a pen which is what they really are. I recommend highly. I change color with the outfit I'm wearing. I'm in IT Networking so I always keep one in my shirt pocket. My job gives them out. Once you start using them you wont be able to go back to a regular stylus. I can't. You want to see it with the cap on the pen side, not the clip side. I use the small stylus side.
4winmobile.com have just published a mega review of the O2 HTC HD2, it is an excellent read, even if I do say so myself.

OT> Where can I build a sig like that?
Great write up by 4winmobile
Arrrrrrrrrrgh I still cant believe O2 are going to launch this phone after vodaphone when all the rumours were that O2 was getting it first.
Delay after delay and for what a crappy O2 wallpaper, serriously why bother branding it at all as it removes the animated weather and will just be swapped ASAP for the default theme.
Please pay attention that in the review they mention that they got the phone with a screen protector. This means that HTC do believe you need to use a screen protector (otherwise why put it in the box). He does say at the end that even without the screen protector the screen remained scratch-free after the several weeks of review, but still...
If you want to ask about the delay in the review thread I'll answer why
The contents of what was supplied have now been updated...... we were notr supplied with a screen protector but it listed it on the items that are scheduled to be included.
For the review we received an advance bundle without a lot of the items that will be supplied.
Awsome writeup mate thanks. Still don,t see why O2 are taking so long.
Question asked in reviw thread, almost forgot I registered there ages ago been over a year since
And your questions are now answered
Cheers Thanks for the replys
Great review by 4winmobile! I need to get this puppy in the States with 3G
Glad you like the review, it shouldn't be too long before the HD2 is released in the USA, it will be worth the wait!
Great review, but not without glitches.
The 3.5mm jack on the bottom is not a drawback, it's a great design decision. When you put your phone in your pocket, you put it exactly "upside down". That's because if your hand has the same design as most people's hands do, you'll pull it out and can start talking with the speaker up and microphone down, without turning it.
Now, I admit there may be some peculiar pouches etc. where the "normal" way of putting the device in doesn't work, and these pouches may be attractive to some people, and I will even admit that this is a valid concern, but at best this means that the jack placement isn't something that can be "good" or "bad" for everyone. The review is too categorical in this respect.
I would prefer it Jack on the bottom so when its muonted in my car I can sit the jack from my radio into it easyer.
Gotta agree, jack on bottom makes more sense pocket and car cradle wise
I can see the logic in what you're saying and have to agree.

I had the same sentiment about this particular critique.
Each to his own ideal I guess
For me it''s logical to put the machine in a pouch the right side up as that way as I insert fingers to draw it out they'd not be in possible conflict with the button area when the machine was gripped.
As an ex-ergonomic engineer I'd say that good engineering practice would place the headset jack on the top.
I hate to say it but if we look at well received design models like the iPhone - where is the jack - on the top.....
Anyway if you wish to continue the debate please do it in the review thread You may get more feedback there!
