Several questions regarding MDA Vario usage - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hello to the forum members!
Since I am a new Vario user there are some questions that you might be able to answer:
1) Is it possible for Alarm funcionality to wake up device from power off state? So alarm works very well when Vario is in standby mode but I would like my Vario to wake me up in morning and I turn it off over night.
2) How can i UPDATE existing phonebook record with entry from Call History? So lets say I already have Peters contact record that includes his mobile number and now he calls me from his landline. There is new entry in Call History that shows his landline number however only available option is "Save contact as" which means that new record will be created. I dont want to create new record but to update existing Peters record with new info (his landline number). Is this possible?
3) How to send sms to a group of users (for example all users in one category). Picking sers one by one doesnt sound too good to me.
4) Is there a more advanced manual than plain users manual that is shipped with the device? Becouse many of more advanced topics such as establishing VPN connections are not covered...

??? Has anyone MY|PHONE PROFILES ???

Has anyone this great app?
http://geocities.com/myppcpe2003/index.htm
Maybe a key for it?
I'D like to use it
It appears to be the best prog that I've looked for to switch my XDA2 to a changeable caller profile phone like a nokia!
I liked this app initially, great interface and lots of functionality, however I found a few problems:
Sometimes after changing profiles the ring would be silent when it should be heard - the dialog would pop up showing the caller, but no sound.
You can set it to automatically revert to the normal profile after <n> minutes, or at a certain time. For me this only happened when the XDA was on - thus if it should have switched profile and then a call comes in before you have switched on the device it still uses the wrong profile.
If these problems can be sorted it would be a great app.
As for a key... go to PocketGear and but it!
Yeahh..So It's not a perfect software again.
Do you know any program that analyze the caller from the contacts and you can select for example just one number or one goup to receive? The other ignored or silent like Nokia phones.
I have come across MUTX RingToneX which allows you to set ring tones by contact or category so this may well give you what you want. Can't tell you how good it is, but you can get a free trial from the link below:
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=8675
Thx for the answer but I'm looking for an app with easy switching between sound profiles.
For example:
A) MODE
Every unknown number has RINGTONE1
FAMILY group has RINGTONE2
FRIENDS group has RINGTONE3
MY CARALARM SYSTEM (has a mobile calling function) has RINGTONE4
...etc.
B) MODE
Every unknown number is silent or ignored
Every other group than MY CARALARM SYSTEM is silent or ignored
MY CARALARM SYSTEM is ringing and answered (at night while I'm sleeping I want to receive just the call from my car's alarm system)
It's just a simple thing that a lot of phone's using. (Nokia & others)
I hope somebody understands my problem and knows an apllication with the ability I wrote above.
Thx
I think (not sure!) that you need a combination of two programs:
JGUI My Phone Profile AND IA Caller ID (OR Caller2picture)

THanx the answer but I'm sure (not think) that I don't need the combination you wrote because My phone profile can switch just sound profiles with setting the ring volume or vibrating, IA caller ID can add a picture to a call, Caller2picture can add a ringtone and a picture to a call.
But I need what I wrote upper, please read it perfectly, because it is something different.
I need a software that has the ability to verify a caller-group and for example you can reject all number/call except the caller-group you set like with Nokia phones.
ANYBODY DOES UNDERSTAND WHAT I WANT???????
Maybe because I'm from Hungary and my english is not so well..... :?
My Phone Profile 3.1
My Phone Profile 3.1Full
Reg Code: TMPP-1177-JGUI
Have a fun!
If you have an XDA II, you don't need to get the IA Caller ID because it's already on the XDA II. IA Caller ID is called Photo Contacts in the XDA II.
Caller2picture can add a ring tone to a group. Whenever you want to reject a specific group, give it a silent ring tone.
@VHS: bad boy... i don't think that this should be made public... software worth using is worth bying.
hehe ...bad not bad, but apart from that a/m ...
discussion has been pretty much interesting to me as to sound profiles etc, I have been also looking for some time for software allowing for easen phone handling
regards and Happy New Year,

Finger Clix
Check this:

It is the best phone dialer ever!
thank you
I wolud give it a try

:? :x
So..Nobody understands what I want.
OK.
Tekflow:
Thanx, but I know that I can set a silent ringtone for a group with one of these softwares. But I NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT:
I have a car within a mobile-phone-alarm-system. If somebody does something with my car, this mobile (in my car) calls my mobile phone which is with me. So, usually (always) I switch off my phone by night. But if I switched off my phone I would never know my car's calling. That's why when I had a Nokia7650 I can set a profile called Night-profile which has the settings with all calls + all groups has a silent ringtone and my Car-alarm-number has a loud-sirene-ring. That caused when somebody called me except my car my phone was silent. When my car called it ringed with the highest level. And if somebody wanted to stole my car I had heard it. But not now. Because I don't want everybody to call me from 6 a.m., that's why I switch off my phone, but if I switch off my phone I can't hear if my car's calling me.
That's what I can't set in my XDA2.
With no any of your suggested programs.
I know all of them, and I know none of them has the ability I wrote upper.
SO........SOMEBODY UNDERSTANDS WHAT I WANT TO SAY SINCE DEC.05.???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
p.s.:I think so that FingerClix is the best dialling program for the XDA (I use it), but I need another thing, not just for dialling or to give a ring volume for all numbers and groups. My phone profiles can set just a general volume and vibrate settings without any choice to give a different volume for just one group or one phone number like Nokia.
(Maybe since dec.5 there's an update for MyPhoneProfiles or for the others and they have expandable ability?)
I (hopefully) understand what you talking about (have had a Nokia for years...), but i'm not aware of such a tool at this time for the MDA/XDA.
regards,
If I understand you: you need a program that gives you the opportunity of turning off the sound of the telephone for all incoming calls except one number or one group of numbers, or, better, to make call barring for all calls except for one number or one group of numbers (some kind of filtering). I also don't know if this kind of program is available for the Pocket PC Phone. Anyone on the forum aware of this ?
anybody has version 5?
I think what Tuningszocske want is something like Blacklist in Nokia Symbina phones. I know of a Chinese program call CallerFirewall, it allows one to add contacts to black or white list, you can choose to block all contact in black list, receive call only from white list or block all incoming calls etc. This program is compatible with dopod686、O2XDA、T-Mobile、and LegendT108.

Answering machine

Hi,
Anyone know if there is a software that can do the answering machin feature. It would be great to be able to have call center feature like :
"if you are a friend press 1 to leave a message"; "if this is urgent press 2"; ......
BR
Isn't this what your phone provider can provide. I.E. Voice Mail. Depending on your provider you can set up various options normally at no extra cost.
Regards
uuh, I like mcdomfr's idea pretty much!
The call centre functionality (press 3 to get redirected to my mum) would certainly rock.
However, there is yet another reason, why I would certainly prefer a software answer machine running on my xda2 over the network's (O2) centrally hosted voice mail service. That is, currently I have to pay (or use minutes) to check / retrieve the voice mails. A software on my XDA2 would have the voice mails locally available. Also, I would than be able to check all the old voice mail from last week while I am in the airplane mode or down in the tube (no network).
Just my 2 cent ;-)
i know that some old sony phone got this answering machin feature. one firend of i did use it when he go abroad wher cost of checking voice mail is high.
On top of this the sony phone did alow him to listen to the voice mail when the caller let a message.
I remember the first time i reach his answering machin phone i was thinking i was on orange, i started to let a long message and then sudentely my friend pick-up the phone in the middle of my voice mail and we did continue the call. I was very surprized by this feature !
just search people
people ask about that ALL the time i did a search for just answering
and there are from the first result page
if you want more search yourself

Good Call Register for Wizard..

Hi
Can anyone suggest good CALL History / Register application.
In the wizard in the calll history it lists all the incoming/outgoing/missed/all calls on one page , rather than proving TAB version for each.
does any one of any free apps..
regards
You can view the calls by incoming / outgoing / missed / user by using the menu > filter option in call history.
Not quite what you were after, but I am not sure if you had seen the filter option before.
Is there anyway to get the recent call list to display the telephone number and number of calls from tht number on the side rather than list every single time of call from tht particular number.
It's quite irritating... when i'm in a meeting there are times when i'll recieve like 10 missed calls from one single number and it's quite painful to browse thru soo many calls.
Hi
You are right , there is a filter option , buy I would rather prefer a tab option
without going into Menu->Filter , I have a Sony Eric Phone and I got addicted with that interface and quite like it.
So may be just asked the Q in the forum.

8525 call timers

Hello -
I might buy an 8525 on eBay. I have searched the forums and downloaded and looked at the 8525 manual, but, I can not find anywhere how to display the call timers.
I would like to ask the sellers to disclose the timer information, but I can't find out how to ask them.
I did find one thread about how to find them in the registry, but this is way beyond the capability of most sellers!
On my Audiovox SMT5600, they are displayed in Start/Call History/Menu/View Timers. Is there anything like this on the 8525? Call timers are not even mentioned in the manual that I downloaded.
TIA
PS I realize the timers can probably be manipulated - but this too is probably beyond the capability of most.
aha
I downloaded the Tytn manual and found, under video call options/general, the ability to display the call timers.
Does anyone know if this feature is disabled in the 8525?
Thanks again.
Settings / Device Information / Call Duration / Has Incoming and Outgoing call timers
This is on an 8525

Call Timer

Does anyone know of a good call usage monitor. I use to have Phone Dashboard but I can't add this to the HTC Homepage. The call timer in Windows Mobile only monitors all calls not just outgoing calls, as far as I can see. Any ideas

Ummm....have you checked under the call history button on the dialer? When you launch your dialer, click on the call history button. If its showing you all calls click on menu-->filter and select only outgoing calls. It should show you only outgoing calls now as well as durations for each. At least that's how it is on WM6....I don't know if they've changed if for 6.1
Nope. You can view only the duration of the calls when you open Call History and select specific person in it. Or through Contacts -> Click contact -> Menu -> View all calls.
It is very disappointing, because at least I want to know the duration of the last call. Doesn't matter if I end up the call or the other party. This dialer doesn't show last call time!
Thanks [email protected].
However, the Call History lists all the calls made or have come in via the filter. However, I want to know how many minutes a month I have used and unless I try and add all the outgoing message together, I'm stuck.
Under Call History there is a button called menu which gives the option "Call Timer" but if you click on this it gives you the total number of calls made since last hard reset (I assume) and the number of minutes used since last reset. Most people, I would think, with a contract want to know the number of outgoing minutes since last reset (with reset being since the last cut off date for calls on their contract). This appears to be missing. Can anyone help or know a program that does this that could be intergrated with the HTC homepage.

I'll second that, any way of\software for knowing how many minutes have been used in the monthly bundle?
Try Home Screen Plus
Have you guys tried Home Screen Plus? Its a great piece of software...and If I'm not mistaken it does have a feature to track call timers etc. Give it a shot. Its free Make sure you download the latest version. I know of a lot of other older versions floating around.
that is a real cool app but also a little heavy just for the calltimer. Anything with a small footprint out there?
Thanks Guys. However, I want to keep the HTC homescreen but I don't think you can add bolt ons to it, so any homescreen add-on won't work. I need a program that runs on its own that monitors the minutes and then being able to access it via the programs tab.
Found - LCMinutes
Not the easiest to configure, but once you grasp the concept it's a doddle (and elaborate).
LCMinutes :X
so i played around with LCMinutes and all it did was give me a headache! lol
i found this and wanted to share:
hxxp://www.hudsonmobile.com/products/phodash/index.html
is very very neat and a very easy to configure
ta
I had heard it didn't work on the HD but if it does, how about sharing it on the wiki
Can anyone comment if this works with TF3D?
Call timer on Dutty´s Touch HD 2.1 is missing?
Hi there!
Anyone having problem with a missing call timer on Dutty's 2.1?
Or should I do a hard reset?
Thanks!
I am using phone dashboard which I find is very good and should suite your needs. Without Today screen it is a pain to use but still possible. Goto settings->Today then highlight the plugin and options. There is one tab which shows you the usage. But you have to "regenerate" the data before viewing.
Alternative, why dont you just run TouchFlo + Today screen (using TFD or SecondToday).
I know phoneAlarm also have a call duration tracking but phoneAlarm is just too much of hassle to configure.
